Looking for feedback from folks who have tried both the WH-1000XM5 and the QuietComfort Ultra, but also open to suggestions.
I narrowed it down to these two on rtings.com as the ANC and mic quality ratings were some of the best for wireless headphones on there. I initially wanted to go for USB RF because years ago I would get complaints about call quality when using Bluetooth. I never used my Sennheiser PCX550s very much because I didn't find the ANC very good on planes or just in general.
Budget: the price of the Bose are close to the max of what I'd like to spend, but if there's a better pair for more then I'd consider that. Source: Bluetooth via Laptop or Phone Use: 1) VOIP calls for work, Google Meet, and Spotify via Laptop. 2) WhatsApp/Telegram calls, regular phone calling, and Spotify via Phone. 3) Gaming via steamdeck. ANC is key for planes and loud office, and mic quality key for calls. Tonal Balance: I go between acoustic and electronic genres so I'd say balanced would be safest. Past gear: Logitech G935 (creaky mofos), Sennheiser PCX550s, and currently Drop + EPOS PC38X
From watching a few review videos the Sonys have better mic clarity but not as good ANC as the Bose, which are supposedly more comfortable to wear for long periods and have a more compact travel case.

Hi! So I recently was diagnosed via x-ray with a patellar tilt on both sides, I was told I'd need to do four weeks of PT before he'd send for MRIs and frankly I don't see it improving. I've been in and out of PT for mainly my legs since I was 14, I'm 22 now and I just don't see the point in putting myself through more pain and my knee caps hurt so badly I can't walk sometimes. I'm frankly sick of PT, it feels like they just send me because they don't want to deal with me despite it never helping much if at all. I have a wheelchair in the works but they're taking forever to file the paperwork and my pain management appointment isn't for another two months. Has anyone else had Patellar Tilt issues and if so did PT have a long lasting effect? Or was it just a constant uphill battle? I know it probably sounds like I should just do the PT, but I don't have the time or energy for something that's going to cause more pain and ultimately do nothing. I don't want to fight an uphill battle for the rest of my life and I've had to relearn how to walk already and I can't do this all over again. I'm frankly done with my legs they're a lost cause and I'd rather spend my time in a wheelchair than in a doctors office getting poked and prodded and forced to do things that potentially injure me further. I'm honestly just so sick of my doctors trying to do anything but treat me. They'll do anything to delay sending for tests or take forever to try treatments. I'm burnt out. I've spent more time in PT than with friends at this point and I feel like I'm wasting what little time and energy I have.
I also don't know how to have this conversation with my doctors. Whenever I've told them something isn't working they just immediately stop trying and insist I'm being noncooperative, so at this point I feel like I have to do it or lie. Any advice?

I (19F) don’t know what to do about my (22M) boyfriend.
We’ve been together three months, exchanged “I love you”, and have been pretty emphatic about how we feel about each other, but I’m not sure if I’m sharing the same sentiments anymore.
From the beginning, it felt like he was perfect for me and he’s been very sweet and thoughtful since the start. There were red flags though, some I wish I would have seen before I told him how much I cared for him. That’s where I think I’ve made a mistake. I had strong feelings early on and shared them with him, quite vulnerably, and he returned them maybe more enthusiastically than I.
After about a month though, I started having serious doubts and felt like I “woke up” from the love sickness and have been thinking about ending the relationship ever since.
I want to stay because he is kind, my family seems to like him, and he’s my only friend, but I can’t look past some things and I feel they’re too big to do so. Not to mention, I’ve made promises along the lines of wanting to be with him long term and much more.
My hesitation to end it lies in his mental health. He’s said before if it doesn’t work out between us, he would do all sorts of extreme things like move back home, join the military, or never date again. He’s in a fragile state right now, struggling with his job and having some family troubles coupled with some pretty serious confidence issues.
I want badly to be there for him but I myself am dealing with a serious mental health diagnosis and the symptoms that come with it. I’m trying to figure out what I want to do with my life, and I feel halted because I’m attempting to picture a life with him and I just don’t know if I can.
I feel trapped and guilty. I’ve made it seem like I’m all in and wanting a future when I haven’t felt that way at times. I love him, or at least think I do, and genuinely want the best for him. He makes it seem like I’m what’s best for him but it really scares me. I’m afraid to stay with him but also terrified I’ll never find anyone that will treat me like he does.
My problems lie in fundamental things about him that I don’t think will change. To start, his apartment is messy. Messy messy. Like fast food trash all over his room and the occasional dog mess on the floor, uncleaned for what seems like a while. I’ve offered to help clean up but it never happens. He’s a talker. Will talk on and on for an uncomfortable amount of time and it feels like I can’t get a word in or even keep up with all he’s saying. He’s aware of it too, and apologizes but what am I to say? I don’t want to hurt his feelings. He constantly fills the air with words and it’s kind of embarrassing when with my family. I hate to even say it but in my mind I’m willing him to shut up. That’s no way to be with a partner and it makes me feel guilty to even say that about him.

However now I'm a little more relaxed about dating and pretty busy myself so I would be fine just meeting up when we can meet up. I can't really tell if that would be weird to ask? recently, ive been scared pretty shitless of harvest theory/the bad aliens proposal, after reading 4chans infamous 72 year dream creepypasta/prophecy which, i think popularized harvest theory, and the notion any nhi is out to get us, and it lines up scarily well with current events, but is also pretty vague and predictable. its gotten me thinking, though: i think ufo/alien communities are, potentially, being influenced by a growing sentiment that, i suspect, genuine disinformation agents have been planting maliciously.
theres a few ways to look at the actual ideas popularized: harvest theory can never seem to propose exactly what alien lifeforms would actually be harvesting from humans. meat? vatgrown meat exists and homeworld farms would be better, not to mention, cramming the world with fattier foods (if the harvest is cyclical). i dont buy into the whole loosh/consciousness stuff, but just for arguments sake: if they fed on positive emotion, they could be doing a lot better. if they feed on negative emotion, they could be doing a lot better. the only purpose for the harvest then, is game. while this one is worryingly likely if harvest theory is correct, we cant really prove that unless it happens, and the 72 year dream/other prophecies or evidence seem to imply extinction.
what we can prove is the actual mutilation cases and missing persons connections. every year, thousands of people go missing, images of mutilations exist, cattle are cut up, all of which do justify the bad aliens narratively in extreme ways... and yet, most cases are able to be explained. but some arent, and you know what else isnt able to be explained? operation saucer, the facescratcher of india and the peru facepeelers, all of which imply literal skin harvesting in their names, alike harvest theory and bad alien narratives, but if you look into the cases, actually seem to be cases of radiation/laser damage more than likely impacting peoples faces by proxy of them simply being more exposed than the rest of their body to the uaps, with next to no real peeling happening besides unrelated content. all these cases also involve negligence on the part of the united states military, happened in rural foreign areas where no one would be caught, but still werent covered up, as they became news stories. what gives?
heres the point: all these incidents, and the current beliefs about aliens in lots of communities, are suspiciously happening only during cold war tension times, and only started, in their current form after the invention of the laser weapon. coincidence? i think not. were throwing the blame for all these tragedies onto aliens, when i think, in actuality, this is a government cover up, possibly from multiple of the competing world leaders. being able to pretend all these extremely useful intelligence tools, are actually nefarious space invaders, gives tons of leeway to experiment with technology, or engage in aggressive intelligence maneuvers without risk of provoking war. furthermore, i suspect the emphasis on declassification, alongside the rising of this narrative, is all extremely deliberate to maintain cover. dont blame aliens, dont get mad at aliens, get mad at the potential decades of rights violations ufos have allowed governments to get away with

I need to buy a new laptop for university and remote work. I do a lot of photo/ video editing (1080p footage with 3-5 effects on average), RAM intensive tasks and need something that has a good balance of battery life and performance since I intend on using it for the next 2-3 years before upgrading
The most obvious choice here is an M1 Macbook Air, however I can't seem to find any for under 180k, hardly saw 2-3 ads that had it listed for 175 ish ( plus, havent used MacOS ever in my life so idk if i'll like it). The other choice i have is an HP Victus i5 12th with an RTX 3050. The performance on that one is good but i dont like the bulky form factor since I need something portable. Besides, the battery life on it sucks too (3-4 hrs on one charge) so thats a bummer, yet i can easily find it for around 165-175k range.
Are there any other suggestions in this price range? Currently have an ideapad 3 with an i5 10th gen, 12 GB RAM and 256 SSD. It gets choppy while editing videos and handling more than 15 tabs plus slack/ teams at the same time, looking to sell this one for around 80-90k. And oh, the battery life SUCKS, goes from 100-0 in just 2 hours, stretches to maybe 3-3.5 with battery saver. Defo need something that lasts 6-7 hours.

Before you downvote or gripe or complain, yes i know this is just my opinion, I'm not saying it's objectively correct or a fact, it's just the way that I feel and I'm surprised more people don't feel this way too, especially speedrunners and people who watch them
I know this is probably going to be very unpopular but it's just my opinion and obviously others dont feel the same, but speedrunning a game is destroying its value. To start I'll play devils advocate and say if you're speedrunning a game you obviously love it enough to put that much time into it
but when you're speedrunning a game like lets say, dark souls for instance, you are so far from the joy and wonder of when you first played the game. you ignore all of the npcs, you kill the nice ones because of whatever loot that shaves off 5s, you do glitches that break immersion and remind you its a game.
Think about the first time you play some sort of fantasy game or rpg, or even subsequent playthroughs. How it feels like a whole new world you just stepped into, all of the magic and wonder and curiosity. You care about the characters, the story, the overall world that you're in. Thousands of hours and lots of peoples imagination went into making that. But when you get to the point where you're just abusing mechanics, ESPECIALLY glitched speedruns, it sucks the soul away out of the game.
Another example could be amnesia the bunker. I've speedrun that game myself and I'm close to the world record for glitchless at 14 minutes (wr is 12) and after spending the time doing that, it made me realise how shallow and unenjoyable it felt. When I played the game the first few times it was scary, tense, eerie. I was scared of the monster in the game. I always took the time to read the notes and explore every little corner and detail. It made me think a lot about the fear of being in the main characters situation, the horrors of war, the philosophy and story of the game. But then you start speedrunning it and all of that just goes out of the window because you're just thinking of what items and necessities you need to beat the game - and there lies the problem. You shuck the game of everything that made it special and just take the bare essentials of what's needed to beat it. It feels like taking a multivitamin and a protein shake instead of eating a delicately handmade meal.
I know it's a weird rant but I'm just wondering if anyone else feels the same. It just kind of sucks out the joy for me.
It's been on my mind because my favourite game of all time, Dark Souls, is a game I've played literally hundreds of times since release, it's my comfort game, and my go-to game when I'm bored or not feeling well. And I've always played it like a beginner every time. I always stop to get every item, double check every corner, do all the NPC quests. But today for the first time I tried one of the speedrun routes and it just felt miserable and sad so I stopped playing on that file and made a new one. Then I watched some guy on youtube do it and he goes and kills the nice/cool characters, makes his character look just really silly and stupid and goofy which takes away from the somber tone of the game, and trivializes fights that are supposed to be epic battles by being extremely overleveled or abusing exploits/OP weapons.
Idk, I just think it's pretty lame. I don't mind that people like it but I will never ever understand it
UNLESS, big cavaet: if it's a game like some sonic game or mario or something where the goal is really clear and the story is kind of not really there, then it makes way more sense to just do it as fast as possible. Speedrunning some games just makes sense. but speedrunning games that are meant to have an atmosphere to them like dark souls, resident evil, silent hill, hollow knight etc... just feels wrong.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Do you agree? Are you able to speedrun and retain immersion and still go back and play with a sense of wonder?

I'm just getting into luxury clothing. I found WvG when I was looking into some Norse Projects clothing. I really like WvG but what other brands do you all think are on par with WvG? I'm not looking to do Autobahn speeds, but i'd like to comfortably sit on 180 on the motorway in Spain (i've done 240 in Germany so I can easily handle a car at 180)
Is it possible to do this without being booked?
Are there any police on the motorways in Spain?
Any advice?
