I have long believed that about a third of the USA's population is inclined toward Authoritarianism, chiefly based on the percentage of the population who continued to give high approval ratings to Nixon and George W. Bush after their disastrous Presidencies.
Curiosity led me to investigate potentially relevant data collected by recent World Values Surveys (WVS). The WVS website has a page which allows to do simple online analyses of the data they have collected for each country [or any combination of countries], so I decided to check the results of their recent USA surveys on a couple of questions at least somewhat related to cultural authoritarianism and hierarchical authoritarianism. The following are screen shots of the answers I received.

So roughly 33% to 37% of Americans think it's good to have a "strong" leader. I know it's not much to rely on, but I think it hints at the percentage of hierarchical authoritarians.
Another item: "Whenever science and religion conflict, religion is always right".

In this case, roughly 33% to 38% of Americans believe religion should trump science whenever the two appear to be in conflict. Although it's hardly proof, I think this hints at cultural authoritarianism.
Note that cultural authoritarians may or not be hierarchical authoritarians, as well.
I think it's important to investigate these phenomena further, because value preferences within a population doubtless have consequences for their political and policy choices.

2024.06.09 18:52 blindedhindsight I got Grandpapa from Duriel and Harlequin Crest from Uber Duriel in an hour's time. Is this normal?

I farmed materials for Duriel, did Duriel, dropped The Grandfather. Then I farmed up materials for Uber Duriel (I have a decent golem necro build, didn't take long), dropped a Harlequin Crest.
I have an idea of what drop rates look like when you consider how rare these things are supposed to be (long time PoE player). Did I get really really lucky?

All figures are complete w/ instructions
- Includes an extra Gulf/Skalor figure as the first one I got had a crack in his combiner hand/foot port - see pics
- Comes with some extra weapons and combiner hands. One of the hands is missing the cover.
- Nautilator's port has some stress marks in it - see pictures
- Some of the ball joints are a little loose which is common with these figures to my understanding. Can use floor polish to tighten if needed.
Comes with the TCW-10 Upgrade Kit. I'm not sure if it's 100% complete (I think it's missing a small bracket piece for the arm mode) , but what you see in the pictures is what you will receive.
- Lost two screws for the thigh covers and had to replace them with slightly larger ones.
Combined mode is a little wobbly, but you can get it to pose if you are patient. I found it best to make a stand with some of the weapons and combiner hands to support the combiners weight as well as the target master's.
If you're interested, I'd advise doing a little research on this set to know what you're getting into.

I'm using this Google Colab Notebook: https://colab.research.google.com/github/deforum-art/deforum-stable-diffusion/blob/main/Deforum_Stable_Diffusion.ipynb#scrollTo=XVzhbmizWM_u
My animation starts alright, but after a few images the quality gets pretty bad and the contrast gets very high. I guess it has to do with my animation settings, anyone have a clue what I can change to keep quality and colors coherent throughout the animation?

2024.06.09 16:07 jad4400 [G/W] Angels Deck - First Deck Looking For Critiques

I'm working on my first EDH deck to play casually with my friend groups and was looking for some critiques for the deck, I'm mainly looking to see if there are any glaring flaws in the deck (I understand it won't be perfect, especially since its more for casual playing with friends), or better cards/synergies I might have missed. I have several of the more expensive angels already [[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]], and [[Archangel of Thune]], so assembling the deck isn't too crazy for me.
The commander is [[Sigarda, Font of Blessings]], I opted for her since she gives my other cards hexproof and lets me look at my library, and with the inordinate amount of angels in the deck, she lets me potentially play more as I look.
In terms of creature themes, I went angels+, so there are angels and other divine beings or supporters of divine beings, so Gods, Angels, Clerics, Druids and Monks.
For removal, I opted to go with enchantment style removals like [[Seal Away]], [[Quarentine Field]] and [[Suspension Field]] since I put [[Sigil of the Empty Throne]] in the deck to help generate angel tokens.
For fun enablers in the deck:
[[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]], if I can get her on the battlefield along with Sigarda, all my creatures become hexproof and indestructable.
[[Giada, Font of Hope]] can help be a mana dork and also helps pump angels who enter the battlefield.
[[Lyra Dawnbringer]] pumps all my angels and makes everyone a lifelinker.
[[Resplendent Angel]] pairs with the lifelinkers in the deck to generate more angels as I gain life.
[[Spear of Heliod]] helps pump my creatures and acts as removal.

Hi all. I am just looking for some opinions on this rig. I've been really out of the loop for the past 10 years and poor due to PhD training and getting my career started, but now I want to get back to a better work-life balance. I think my current CPU is creating some bottle-necks, and limitating FPS. It gets worse in games like Resident Evil 2 Remake, where sometimes I'm getting 100+ fps however 99% FPS drop to 17 or 20 fps which is a bit unconfortable when playing.
I believe upgrading CPU would deliver a better experience along with a PSU swap for whenever I get a new GPU.
Thoughts or comments are most welcome. This would be my first time changing a PSU, I'm aware I have to open both sides of the case to plug CPU, Motherboard, GPU; SATA and PCI ports as well. Any other thing I should be worried about?
