🔗Professional, Fireproof Long Gun Safe with Triple Seal Protection

https://preview.redd.it/ra94lgeuab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e4020bec645531bbfd1525e25a5ecf041f1eb85
Protecting your valuables and firearms can be a huge responsibility, and that's where the Remington Express SAR5944E Safe comes in. I recently decided to try out this long gun safe, and I have to say, it's been a game-changer.
First, the exterior dimensions of the safe are impressive, measuring at 59" H x 36" W x 23.50" D, providing ample space for larger firearms. The interior dimensions are equally noteworthy, offering 55.51" H x 32.28" W x 16.30" D, housing 16.90 cubic feet of storage space. With a weight of 721.8 lbs, you know this is a sturdy and reliable safe.
But what really sets this safe apart is its fire rating of 60 minutes at temperatures up to 1650 degrees Fahrenheit. That's half an hour longer than what many other safes can claim. And for protection from water damage, it's equipped to withstand submersion in up to 2 feet of standing water for up to 7 days.
One area where this safe shines is the combination of a fully programmable SecuRam electronic lock, two fail-safe override keys, and an integrated UL Rated single power outlet with two USB ports. This makes it easy to keep your valuables secure while also providing convenience and ease of use.
However, one downside I experienced was the delivery process. I had to pay extra for the safe to be moved inside my home, as the delivery service only brought it to the doorstep. That added a significant amount to my overall cost.
The safe also comes with a relocker device and motion-activated LED lights for added security and visibility, especially in dark conditions. The steel construction is industrial-grade, with a graphite satin metallic powder coat finish and a 5-spoke chrome drop handle. The Uni-Weld 12 gauge steel body is reinforced with 8 active steel bolts and 4 deadbolts, providing an impressive level of security.
In conclusion, the Remington Express SAR5944E Safe offers a robust combination of fire protection, water resistance, and security features in a sturdy, long gun safe design. Despite the added delivery cost, the overall experience of using this safe has been positive and reassuring, offering peace of mind when it comes to safeguarding important valuables and firearms.

🔗Hornady Series I Custom-Grade 2-Die Set for 300 Remington Ultra Magnum

https://preview.redd.it/jfbirbsuab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ad64e72a0c169b1c533433eb795efd0fb67fb17
I've been using the Hornady Series I 2-Die Set for my 300 Remington Ultra Magnum firearm, and I must say, it's been quite the experience. The die set is well-crafted, ensuring a lifetime of reloading without breaking or wearing out. It boasts a sleek Zip Spindle design that eliminates spindle slippage, making adjustments much easier.
One of the most impressive features of these dies is the die locking rings, which keep everything secure during the reloading process. However, I found that the full-length sizing and bullet seating design could be a bit tricky to manage for newcomers to reloading.
Another small drawback is the absence of a shell holder, which might be a slight inconvenience for some users. But overall, I've had a fantastic experience with this product. Its durability and smooth operation make it a solid choice for those seeking reliable and long-lasting reloading tools. So, if you're in the market for new dies and haven't given Hornady a try, I highly recommend giving them a shot.

🔗Versatile, High-Quality, Red Magnum 44 Permanent Marker

https://preview.redd.it/v6q45shvab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54e6d565d6416a1c9921086e9d2b11e17bb94067
I recently had the chance to try the WorkstationPro x Broad Magnum 44 Permanent Marker in Red. I was impressed by its industrial strength, perfect for large-scale marking jobs. The quick-dry ink is highly pigmented, producing a bold, bright mark without any odor.
Additionally, the loop at the top keeps the marker safe and tidy. Despite its permanent nature, the ink is both AP certified non-toxic and water-resistant, making it a handy option for various uses.
However, one minor drawback is that it does not come in a wide range of colors like some other markers. Overall, this red WorkstationPro x Broad Magnum 44 is definitely a worthy addition to any office toolkit.

🔗Redding 44 Remington Magnum Sizer Die for Straight Wall Cases

https://preview.redd.it/r3a3g3uvab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39a65fd1ada4405ccd81a6222966c4193846c539
I recently gave the Redding Sizer Die 44 Remington Magnum a shot in my gunsmithing endeavor, and I have to say, I was quite impressed. Picture this: you've got your shotgun loaded with some ammunition that didn't quite fit right. Instead of having to painstakingly trim and adjust every single piece, you simply pop in this bad boy and let it do all the work for you.
The Redding Sizer Die 44 Remington Magnum, much like its younger brother, is meticulously crafted out of high-quality steel alloy. Trust me, you can feel the sturdiness and precision in your hands. It's not just a tool, it's an artisanal piece.
The decapping assembly is a game-changer. It saves you the hassle of having to manually remove the primer from each case. It's almost like having a little sidekick doing all the heavy lifting for you. One less thing to worry about, am I right?
However, as with all good things, there's a catch. The price tag on this baby might give you a bit of sticker shock. But, considering the quality and the amount of work it saves you in the long run, it might just be worth it.
Overall, the Redding Sizer Die 44 Remington Magnum is a worthy investment for any gun enthusiast. It's reliable, precise, and does all the tough work for you. Just remember, you also need to have patience and some knowledge about gunsmithing - this tool is not a magic wand that fixes everything by itself. Happy shooting!

🔗Professional Barber's Dream: 44 Remington Magnum Calibre Jacket Clipper

https://preview.redd.it/p87irb9wab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=244f949c2e7e96e5dde0ad0e571eb6339a3336f3
The Caliber 44 Magnum Cordless Clipper has been an essential tool in my daily grooming routine. I was initially drawn to its sleek design, but it was the fade blade's precision that truly won me over. The powerful motor with an impressive 8200 RPM made cutting through thick hair a breeze. The 3200mAh Li-ion battery provides a whopping 5 hours of continuous use, so I never have to worry about running out of power mid-cut.
The metal click lever is a game-changer, allowing for effortless and precise adjustments on the fly. The digital display is also a thoughtful addition, keeping me informed of the clipper's power level and oil requirements. While the low noise technology is a great bonus, it's the dual DLC-Diamond Like metal 440C Japanese steel blades that truly set this clipper apart.
Of course, no product is without its minor drawbacks. I found that the battery charge time could be a bit longer, but overall, the Caliber 44 Magnum Cordless Clipper has exceeded my expectations and become my go-to grooming essential.

🔗High Lifter APEXX 8-inch Big Lift Kit for Polaris RZR 1000 2017-2021

https://preview.redd.it/q3epuyiwab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d40130b2c538f629bc7557bb6c4adda07498259
Revving up on my 2020 Polaris RZR 1000, I decided to give the High Lifter APEXX Big Lift Kit a try. Not only did it give my ride the much-needed boost in ground clearance, but it also opened up more possibilities for off-roading.
This kit was a game-changer, and the fact that it came with sturdy control arms that can withstand the toughest terrain is just a bonus. However, something I noticed was that the fitment could be a tad tricky, and I had to make some tweaks to get it just right.
Overall, it's a worthwhile investment for those seeking a more thrilling off-road experience.

🔗Advanced Ceramic Straightener for Shiny, Healthy Hair

https://preview.redd.it/pawr5uwwab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0dcd83c6e00eb90cf684ad11375065c90e2e98f
As I've been using this stylish Remington Therapy Collection straightener, I've noticed how well it treats my hair, giving it a natural-looking shine and eliminating frizz. The advanced ceramic coated plates glide through my hair effortlessly, and the sleek design is easy to maneuver, making it a perfect addition to my daily hair routine.
One of the highlights I've experienced is the digital temperature display, which ensures I'm using the right setting for my hair type. Plus, the intelligent auto shut-off feature adds an extra layer of safety for when I forget to turn it off.
However, I've also noticed a few drawbacks. On occasion, the advanced ceramic plates tend to tangle my hair when styling, which can be a bit of a hassle to untangle. Additionally, the cord isn't as heavy-duty as I would prefer, making it easier to accidentally unplug during use.
Overall, this Remington Therapy Collection straightener has been a valuable addition to my hair care arsenal. While there are a few drawbacks to consider, the benefits far outweigh the cons, making it a solid choice for anyone looking to enhance their hair's vitality and shine.

🔗Waterproof Tactical Boots with Suede Leather and Slip Resistant Outsoles

https://preview.redd.it/zqu0qv5xab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ef07a657f0e912d2c376a7e922c61fe0b7020dc
The Magnum Bragg tactical boots are an impressive combination of style and functionality, designed to keep feet dry and protected in every terrain. As a reviewer who's been using these boots for my outdoor activities, I appreciate the breathable waterproof membrane that keeps my feet dry even when I'm wading through wet grass. The cushioned collar, EVA midsole, and Ortholite sock liner provide a level of comfort that I didn't expect from a military-style boot.
However, I did notice that these boots are more water resistant than fully waterproof, which can be a downside for those seeking complete protection. Overall, I recommend these boots for people who want a durable and comfortable outdoor work or hiking experience, but remember to apply a moisture repellent to ensure full waterproof protection.

🔗5 Lug 1.5 RS Weld Racing Magnum III RT Wheel in Black Anodized Finish

https://preview.redd.it/bqsu64kxab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e242efd4c7aac7e629296c27de4b9ec29a17a446
For a little over a month, I've been using the Weld Racing Magnum III RT 15" x 4" wheel as the staple for one of the vehicles I daily drive.
The first thing that stood out to me was the wheel's robust design. The 3-piece construction, coupled with a 1,200 lb load capacity, makes it a reliable choice for my daily commutes, despite the fact that I often have to navigate through urban roads and the occasional pothole.
Despite its size, the Weld Racing Magnum III RT is surprisingly maneuverable in tight spaces. Despite the 1.5 in back spacing, it performs wonderfully, making it easier for me to park it in the same spot every day.
However, one drawback I've experienced is the lack of hub centricity. While it isn’t a deal breaker for me, it could be a disadvantage for someone looking for the smoothest ride possible.
When it comes to aesthetics, the Magnum III RT is hard to beat. The black anodized center contrasts beautifully with the wheel’s polished finish, giving it a sleek and sophisticated look.
Overall, the Weld Racing Magnum III RT is a solid choice. Despite its minor drawbacks, the wheel provides an excellent blend of performance and aesthetics. So far, it’s proved to be a reliable and visually appealing addition to my vehicle.

🔗Magnum Rigmaster Safety Boots: Durability, Comfort, and Weather Resistance

https://preview.redd.it/otr2cxvxab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdcd5faead22a3e92204a5f3139cec16b0d3f49a
As someone who's spent countless hours on a work site, I can confidently say that comfort is key when it comes to safety boots. That's why I was thrilled to try out the Magnum Rigmaster safety boots for men. The very first thing I noticed was the lightweight yet sturdy design, making these boots easy to wear and move around in, even on wet and muddy surfaces.
One feature that really stood out for me was the waterproof and breathable bootie membrane. It kept my feet dry and comfortable all day long, even when I was working in wet conditions. The composite toe and anti-penetration plate were also impressive, offering a layer of protection against potential hazards on the job site.
However, there were a couple of downsides to these boots that I couldn't overlook. The zipper system, while convenient for getting them on and off, occasionally caused some friction and wear on the leather. Additionally, the laces sometimes loosened throughout the day, requiring frequent adjustments.
In conclusion, the Magnum Rigmaster safety boots provide a balance of comfort and durability that other work boots often lack. Although there are minor drawbacks, the overall experience has been positive, and I would recommend giving these boots a try if you're in the market for a dependable and comfortable pair of safety boots.

🔗Magnum Classic 44 Remington Boots: Comfortable, Durable, and Stylish

https://preview.redd.it/6qlnacayab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5840dd21541dca863c539aa2c15e6646444da661
I've been using these Magnum Classic Boots for a while now, and I must say, they're a game changer. The thing that stands out the most to me is the comfort. It's like walking on air – these boots are so lightweight, yet incredibly supportive. The leather and nylon construction is a testament to their durability, so I don't have to worry about them falling apart after a few months of use. They're perfect for those long days when I'm on my feet for hours.
One downside is that, as with most boots, they do require a bit of breaking in. I find this with most footwear, and I don't let it deter me from trying out some great products like these boots.
Overall, the Magnum Classic Boots are a fantastic addition to my wardrobe. They offer a stylish yet practical twist on traditional footwear, making them an excellent choice for both casual and professional use.

🔗Polished Forged Aluminum Weld Wheels for 44 Remington Magnum

https://preview.redd.it/s75fzckyab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=55714c46b88c961798a178f557cf1e99a9ecc5e5
I recently got my hands on some Weld 792P-54202 Magnum III 15x4 / 5x4.5 BP / 1.5in. BS polished wheels, and let me tell you, they looked and felt amazing from the moment they arrived. The polished shell with a black machined center was truly eye-catching, and the center cap and valve stem included made my life a bit easier during installation.
However, using these wheels also had some challenges. While designed for use with a 5/8" drive stud or short shank mag style lug, they didn't fit easily into my late-model performance car. Unfortunately, the beadlock availability on 15-inch RT wheels wasn't of much help in this situation. Despite these minor setbacks, I still found the forged aluminum construction to be both stronger and lighter than what I'm used to in cast wheels.
Overall, the Weld 792P-54202 Magnum III 15x4 / 5x4.5 BP / 1.5in. BS polished wheels turned out to be a unique combination of style, strength, and convenience. While they presented some installation issues, the premium quality was evident and stood out among other wheels I've used in the past.

🔗Remington Magnum Cremation Medal Keepsake Pendant

https://preview.redd.it/mgjc6i0zab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01ee086353d3e736e02cfe0aec3e034e2e9b9f38
When I decided to try something different to honor my loved one's memory, I stumbled upon the Anchor 44 Magnum Bullet Stainless Steel Jewelry Pendant Necklace. This necklace is not just an accessory; it's a unique way to carry a piece of my loved one with me wherever I go.
One of the features that stood out to me is the ability to customize the pendant. I could choose the size of the necklace and even add a personal touch with optional engraving or artwork. The quality of the stainless steel also impressed me - it felt solid and well-crafted.
However, there was one thing that seemed a bit off - the instructions for filling and sealing the pendant. It took me a little bit of trial and error to figure out the right technique. But once I managed to get the hang of it, the pendant closure was secure and the process became easier.
Overall, I think this necklace is a beautiful and heartfelt way to keep my loved one close to me. While the directions could use a little improvement, the thoughtful design and customer service more than made up for it.

🔗EGW Cowboy Chamber Checker for 357, 44-40, 44 Mag, and .45 Long Colt

https://preview.redd.it/revb8o9zab3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=561207f72a24c825147ea349111226fc06e1e19e
My experience with the EGW Cowboy Chamber Checker was nothing short of impressive. I've been using it for a while now, and it has become an essential part of my daily gun cleaning routine. What sets this checked apart from others? It's the solid 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminum construction that comes with a distinct anodized matte black finish for added durability.
Unlike some other brands that use boring bars, the EGW Cowboy Chamber Checker is machined using the same Clymer reamers used to chamber barrels. This ensures an accurate measurement and perfect fit for various calibers. The checker stands at 1.6 inches tall, making it compatible with a range of firearms.
In terms of the Saami spec max length, it covers 44 Remington Magnum with a dimension of 1.610 inches, while 44-40 Win rounds are suitable with a max length of 1.592 inches. The. 45 Long Colt is not a popular chamber checker but still works as intended.
Though I have had no complaints, it would be nice if they offered more options for different calibers. Overall, the EGW Cowboy Chamber Checker is a dependable and functional product that is essential for any gun enthusiast looking to maintain their firearms. Its high standard and the quality it offers are what set it apart in my book.

🔗Eco-Friendly Vegan Glitter Powder in 44 Magnum Shade

Trying the Glitter - 44 Magnum was like stepping into a world full of sparkle and magic. The glitters seemed to capture my imagination with their vibrant, high-pigmented colors.
As a fan of colorful looks, I loved applying the glitter over my lash glue crease for an extra pop. However, the application process could have been smoother if the lid on the container didn't have a tendency to loosen and leak glitter during transit.
Despite the packaging issues, I found myself drawn to the glitter's mineral-based options and was happy to learn that some of the colors were completely cruelty-free and vegan.

  • Choose a firearm that is comfortable to handle and shoot, and suitable for your intended use.
  • Consider your budget, as there are various quality levels and price points available.
  • Look for a reputable dealer who can provide support and advice, as well as warranties or guarantees.

Are there any safety precautions I should take when handling a 44 Remington Magnum?

Yes, there are several safety precautions you should follow when handling a 44 Remington Magnum or any firearm. Make sure the firearm is unloaded before handling, clean it regularly, and store it securely with the action open and a locked trigger guard. 2024.05.29 05:24 curious_cat_2024 Everyone give me some advice? On... well... Everything?

So long story short I rescued a baby quail from a cat. I don't know where it came from though and I don't really know anything about caring for a baby quail.
It didn't have any open wounds, so I put it in a cardboard box with a towel at the bottom, gave it water, rice, and bok choy. I also put a rice sock in there. It seems healthy enough but I need to know how to properly take care of it. I bet it's lonely too.
Please give me some advice on everything. Like, everything you can think of. All the advice you can give a total newbie about caring for a baby quail. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.29 04:16 CanadianJak0 White interior with young kids

My wife and I are looking to replace her vehicle. I test drove this vehicle and loved how it drives, needless to say the CX-90 has made the short list. One of the things we're concerned about is the white nappa leather interior and it withstanding a baby as they grow up over the years. We currently have a newborn. My wife isn't a fan of the tan/brown on the Signature trim so that's not an option. Anyone out there have the white leather interior with young ones, I'm curious to know as it may put our fears to rest. If it's fine, I have to convince my wife the lack of storage compared to the rest of the mid size vehicles is still enough for day to day activities, heh.

2024.05.29 01:55 DisastrousBowler9237 AITA for being mad at people I know

I (12f) am not mad at my friends in the scene that I hate them or will cut off ties from them but i am very annoyed. I have geans were I have VERY sweaty hands and if their hands barely touch mine they act disgusted. They know that I have a special lotion for this but I hate the smell and feeling of it on my hands. They will ask me if I put it on today and if I say no they say not to forget to. This stuff is only suppose to be put on every other two days or so. These are my friends so I did tell them about my crushes and when I did they acted as if I had a horn sticking out of my head because of who they are. I got mad as I had never even once made fun of them for theirs. Again with my sweaty hands; it doesn't help that I get stressed easily and so that makes it worse. I have self doubt, suicidal thoughts and I barely talk about it innless it is to my friends mostly. I don't rember how this started but me and my friend, lets call her Z, got into a fight. During it she says that I always turn a joke about having no "self esteem" to that I don't. Which at the time I did, and still don't, respect myself or my doings. We made up after the fight when I said it was a joke , it wasn't. It is not just my friends though as when I was five my Aunt wouldn't let me hold her new baby or play with the youger kids because I had stinky socks. I rember crying myself to sleep that night and that is when my self doubt started. She only apologized two weeks after. I am undiagnosed for ADHD but probably have it, the only reason I wont get diagnosed till 18 is because my mom doesn't want me on the medication. I probably have more mental problems that wont be uncovered until I am 18 or older because of this. I should mention that I am bullied which doesn't help me. I hear many things that ruin me like being told to kill myself ect. and being pushed arround even when I stand my ground. So AITA for being mad at people I know.

2024.05.28 22:18 Bryanime My family’s dog died yesterday and I feel like it’s my fault

Trigger Warning: drowning and pet death
Backstory: I (27f) moved in with my dad, stepmother (who I’ll just call mom, bc she’s great), my step-grandmother(my grandma), and two much younger siblings (15m, and 8f) almost a month ago. They have a border collie(BC) and 2 French bulldogs(FB1, FB2). Their yard is mostly concrete, and in the corner of the yard is a small in-ground pool/spa, about 1.5 the size of your average above ground hot tub. The previous owners of the house removed the gate that was originally blocking off the pool from the rest of the yard to the other side yard to create what we assumed was a dog run (there’s a bit of grass over there). This area is where the kids go for no dogs allowed sports practice.
My grandma and I were home alone with the dogs over the holiday weekend while the rest of my family was out for a big family trip for four days. All weekend was great. No major incidents, just one accidental double breakfast for the dogs due to lack of communication. Yesterday, my family gets back from the trip and about an hour and a half later, BC wants to go outside. BC LOVES to jump in the pool. 8/10 when it gets warmer she zooms from the back door straight in. But then she’s exiled outside for a while until she dries off enough to come inside. She tends to bark when she’s out back alone and mad she can’t come inside.
Because of that, sometimes I go outside and sit under the gazebo(canopy?) thing they have set up over their outdoor furniture and play on my phone or read or whatever, while BC runs around and jumps into the pool and tries to shower me by shaking off and asking for pets. From one side(the side I usually sit on that’s in the sun) you can’t really see the pool because of another two bigger chairs. The FBs have been trained since they came home(as little ones) to stay out of the pool after an incident where FB2 decided she wanted to sit in it with everyone else and sank like a rock. FB1 loved to chase BC around the yard and play and fight with her, and would stand at the edge and bark and wait for her to come out for more chasing.
So I’m outside with the exiled and swim happy BC and the FBs get let outside. I’m watching a show on my phone, mostly throwing the tennis ball for FB2 until she needs a break for bad hips, while BC and FB1 are running amock and barking at people walking on the street. It’s been about 45 minutes and BC isn’t dripping wet anymore, so I check with my dad who’s in the living room if she can come in, so then she and FB2 run inside and I realize FB1 doesn’t come in. Dad and brother confirmed he wasn’t let in when I wasn’t looking and he doesn’t come when called.
So I turn to look if he’s laying down sunning himself like he does and I see him floating in the pool. I screamed he’s in the pool and jumped in and put him on the side and start trying to do CPR because I don’t know how long he’s been in there, realize my little brother came out after me, and I scream for my dad because the dog’s not moving and what I’m doing isn’t working. My brother runs back in for mom and then three of us are there trying to bring him back and I’m still waist deep in the pool in demon shorts and socks and I can’t breathe because when did he fall in and why didn’t I hear him or see him I was RIGHT FUCKING THERE.
Then I realized my 15 year old brother is hugging me and telling me it’s not my fault while he’s crying because his dog is dead and I was hyperventilating and apologizing and repeating that I didn’t see him and then feel like extra shit because why the fuck does my baby brother need to comfort me and why am I making it about me right now. My mom had to tell my sister what happened, thank god she was upstairs with grandma when this happened.
We put him in a box with a blanket, my brother put his dog bed in it, and my sister gave him a treat so our uncle can give it to him when he gets to heaven. I think my dad took him to their vet’s office this morning so he can be cremated?
Realistically I know it’s not my fault. It’s an awful accident. My parents have told me it’s not my fault. My brother told me it’s not my fault. I stopped apologizing after my freak out. I just fell so awful. I was maybe 40 feet away and he was terrified and dying. I’m so, so, so sorry Big Meatball.

2024.05.28 21:56 GrownUpGirlScout June 13th, I Can See You, Mean, and Taylor Starting a Fire in Liverpool? PART ONE-The Mean Music Video and Versions of Taylor

June 13th, I Can See You, Mean, and Taylor Starting a Fire in Liverpool? PART ONE-The Mean Music Video and Versions of Taylor
With all the hype about the upcoming June 13th, 100th show in Liverpool, I've been looking for the Liverpool connections. I went back pretty far and granted the internet is FLOODED with items about the upcoming shows, going back to when they were announced, I also looked back further and searched for liverpool with specific years. So while she may have done something significant in liverpool before last year, I can't find anything, except for the I Can See You music video! Would love to know if anyone else can remembehas found anything though!
Last year in April 2023 Taylor flew to Liverpool to film the music video for I Can See You on April 10 (? give or take for media and time difference) and the Joe breakup was announced April 19 (? also give or take). The video was filmed in the Cunard Building in Liverpool and it was kept VERY hush hush. It was known that Joey King was in the video, but not Presley Cash or Taylor Lautner. Reports at the time mentioned that Taylor had been inspired by Robert Pattinson's Batman movie Zoë Kravitz's Batman movie to film at that building (I haven't seen the film, but I would LOVE if anyone can give some context to scenes which were filmed at the building and how that might have inspired to use it for the video). There were also multiple mentions of how she knew ALL about the history of the building and was very excited to film there.
Besides I Can See You being connected to Liverpool and the June 13th/100th show theories, I think there's a definite connection between I Can See You and Mean which ties it further together. For starters, there's an obvious connection between the cast. As I mentioned, Joey King was brought up in early press. Taylor Lautner and Presley Cash were not. It's very SOMETHING to me that she did not choose to cast the young bullied boy from the Mean music vide. I've tried briefly looking into them and it seems to be a mystery-ish. The name of the actor doesn't appear anywhere I've found. Who knows why, but I don't want to necessarily speculate on why someone whose name we don't even know might not want to be a part of the Taylor Show after all these years. But if anyone has any info they think is okay to share, I'm interested for sure.
But, more importantly, instead of just leaving the cast as Swift, King, and Cash...she chooses to add-Taylor Lautner. So, my overall interpretation of the I Can See You video as a hint of what's coming sort of rests on my personal understanding that the "characters" in the Mean music video are versions of Taylor herself, so I will start there.
The video begins with Taylor singing. At first you just see her, and then the band appears.
https://preview.redd.it/dtv472705p2d1.png?width=2698&format=png&auto=webp&s=f6fc520f19cf48e736dc7922fd2ea6ea028a4289
https://preview.redd.it/xi8i2o1t5p2d1.png?width=1901&format=png&auto=webp&s=951fd2d9a5809cbcf94847dedbfdcf84ebec74c9
The first "character" we meet is "bullied young boy". He is wearing a lavender sweater, bow-tie, and reading a fashion magazine. He's sitting in a locker room, surrounded by football players who are harassing him.
https://preview.redd.it/hrvhp8pu4p2d1.png?width=2258&format=png&auto=webp&s=acff0d5b90751d83df9a0b92df87ffa68d191ee2
While Taylor and the band play, we see the bullied young boy begin to sing along..."I'll be big enough so you can't hit me."
https://preview.redd.it/sgddzsnhhv2d1.png?width=2564&format=png&auto=webp&s=fce91170bd302ec32abc1bed313b93c35a7eb78b
The next "character" we meet is Taylor. She is tied to train tracks, with a train oncoming, and a man is standing next to her and mocking her. They are both in black and white old-timey dress. In this screenshot, I tried to capture what I believe is an important aspect of linking these characters to Taylor's "inner self". With all of he other characters in this video, they are introduced with a normal straight cut from Taylor playing with the band to the character. When Taylor transitions from the band to the train tracks Taylor character, there is instead a sort of circular zooming transition. I think this transition shows how Taylor on the train tracks is a portrait of her inner self which is taking place simultaneously to her playing with the band. While the man mocks her, Taylor rolls her eyes and seems to find his behavior ridiculous and not scary or upsetting.
https://preview.redd.it/80wbbev9jv2d1.png?width=1840&format=png&auto=webp&s=d4d0e2a9ea766a70eb052827059c9893ffe8d83e
As the next "character" is revealed, Taylor sings "I walk with my head down, tryna block you out cause I'll never impress you." The character is a the "bullied young girl" played by Presley Cash. She is a high-school age girl, working at her job. She's working at a diner, but she's not a server, she is dressed as a star. She is high-school aged. She has a job as a star. And all of her peers come to the restaurant to mock her and try to trash her star.
https://preview.redd.it/jazivuxulv2d1.png?width=2668&format=png&auto=webp&s=97bac228cb27602353aeaff23b18d1fe295b0f5c

She goes home to her bedroom, sits on the bed, and puts her pay into a piggy bank labeled "college". She begins to sing along with Taylor, "someday, I'll be, living in a big ol' city."
https://preview.redd.it/6pwodm4kmv2d1.png?width=2648&format=png&auto=webp&s=137ddb92cd0b5ac7cac6c9a630338c998121c990
The final "character" we meet is "young bullied girl" played by Joey King. She is carrying a lunch tray and walking toward a group of laughing girls at a table. The girls at the table have huge overflowing plates of broccoli. The "young bullied girl" has a sandwich. The young bullied girl and the girls at the table are all wearing the same outfit-a frilly white dress, shiny white patent leather shoes, and lacy trimmed socks. But while the girls at the table have long hair and pink bow belts on their dressed, the young bullied girl has a short bob hairstyle and a blue bow belt for her dress. The young bullied girl approaches the table. The girls laugh and point out that her bow isn't pink. The bullied girl looks sad and leaves.
https://preview.redd.it/v8e3xv8qnv2d1.png?width=2836&format=png&auto=webp&s=89d108fba5afc18ae4b9462de9e143e5d5573205
Meanwhile, the "current" Taylor is stilled tied to the train tracks but now is being mocked by TWO men, who are sitting and getting drunk while slinging their taunts. She continues to be unbothered.
https://preview.redd.it/aoqm8krhpv2d1.png?width=2665&format=png&auto=webp&s=bf751063603b8c2224e0e95a485c7f6cc03e98db
The "young bullied girl" has left the group of girls and is now sitting in a bathroom stall with her lunch tray alone. She sings along "All you are is mean."
https://preview.redd.it/3q2ix0h7qv2d1.png?width=2150&format=png&auto=webp&s=de8690ea5bcd40aa6d65a6abc7677d0c3257cfd9
Taylor and her band transition from their more casual clothing and setting to wearing fancy old-fashioned clothing and performing in a set on a stage. Taylor's hair, which had been long and braided when playing with the band before, is now styled to be in a short curly bob.
https://preview.redd.it/64a135cqvv2d1.png?width=2293&format=png&auto=webp&s=55fd868e05c95cde04b084698eb83c7ff99dcb35

It cuts to the bullied young boy. He's dressed in a bow-tie, holding a bouquet of tulips, and is standing on a runway. The crowd cheers, and so do the two women on the runway with him.
https://preview.redd.it/oeic8k0irv2d1.png?width=2268&format=png&auto=webp&s=8e19a4478ffe0211a76fc699a133c32bb98e62e3
It cuts to the bullied young girl, who is now sitting at a desk in an office and signing some papers being brought to her. Her college piggy bank is on her desk, and a photo of her dressed as a star, and on the walls are her college degrees. Her office has a large window and a city view.
https://preview.redd.it/45q16ie6sv2d1.png?width=2427&format=png&auto=webp&s=b08081e7765dfc248f2b4f337794a5e9694c9aeb
It cuts to Taylor on the train tracks. The two men are passed out drunk at the table. She rolls her eyes, stands up and pulls the ropes off easily, and gives them a cheeky wave before she walks away.
https://preview.redd.it/mmbhy4c6tv2d1.png?width=2579&format=png&auto=webp&s=da97f9a2c531523d1317b4ed47b86307c18441e4
It cuts back to Taylor singing on stage with her band, and you can see the "young bullied girl" in the audience.
https://preview.redd.it/02zgls2htv2d1.png?width=2685&format=png&auto=webp&s=b089b5abfe8f309f2157c3461da952fdbe0c85f2
The young bullied girl smiles at Taylor with adoration.

Taylor finishes the song and smiles at the girl.

So, my personal interpretation of ALL of this is...the characters we see in this video are all versions of Taylor dealing with "mean" people in her life. As a child, it's the popular girls who know she's a little weird and not quite girly enough. In high school, it's coming from two sides-there's the side which has dreams and is working hard at being a "star" to get where she wants to go. And then the side which is queer and has interests in things their peers don't understand or care about. And lastly, train tracks Taylor, who is being held captive by someone who is both cruel and incompetent. This adult "current" version of Taylor is not upset with the way she's being treated by these mean people, she rolls her eyes and seems exasperated, but she is not upset exactly.
We see the stories of the characters resolve. We see the bullied young boy gain recognition and appreciation from his peers for succeeding at the interest which got him ridicule in the past. We see the bullied young girl has gotten away from the harassment of her peers. Being a "star" while she was young gets her an education and a office where she seems to have more of an in-charge job job. We see train tracks Taylor wait for her bullies to sabotage themselves and then she just walks away. To re-join her band?
We do not see a scene of the young bullied girl's story resolved, exactly. We do not see her as an adult. Unless...she is the child version of Taylor. And we DO see her as an adult because she is Taylor. And child Taylor gets to see how one day she'll be talented and captivating-and perhaps from the audience she was also able to see the story of how Taylor no longer cares about what the bullies have to say. Another interpretation could be that we are just seeing a young girl being bullied who is then inspired by Taylor. But...inspired to do what? Inspired to become a musician?
I think, even if one does not see these "characters" specifically as versions of Taylor herself, I think it's very reasonable to think that she is using these characters to tell stories and experiences which resonate with her personally. Especially considering Speak Now was a VERY personal album for her. The other music videos released for Speak Now during that Era all feature Taylor performing the song, while there are scenes of Taylor playing the "character" of her self within the story of the song. Which is another reason I believe Mean was doing the same thing.
I'm reaching my character limit and have reached my photo limit so...meet me in Part 2!

Dying syngonium
Hi ! Here's my issue : 2 months ago i got this syngonium that immediatly started root rotting. I already tried to trim the rotten roots, repotted it, removed the yellow leaves but it's still dying. So now i'm wondering, because even if i hate this plant i don't want to just throw it, is there another way to save it ? I want to propagate it but as it's a baby plant i don't really know how.

2024.05.28 08:09 lofiiiiii Nearer My God to Thee

"Here we go," I muttered, staring at the national broadcast system warning as it flashed across the TV screen. I sat in my dad’s old blue recliner, wondering if I should be more worried. The world as I knew it was coming to an end, and I rested in the Lysol-scented chair where my dad had died of Covid a few years earlier.
I blinked, understanding on some level that I was beyond the point of rational thought, beyond the point of worry.
It was a release, really.
"This is not a test," scrolled the words on the TV over and over in bright buzzing red letters while an eerie robotic voice explained that instructions were forthcoming.
I was at my parents’ empty house in the middle of nowhere, Iowa. Gravel roads and corn abounded. The smell of cow shit hung in the air. The smell of cow shit always hung in the air. Despite this, it felt like home. Sure, I hadn’t grown up here, but photographic memories clung to every wall, and a feeling of tranquility lingered in every room, despite how the last few years had played out.
It was the perfect place for what I wanted to do.
The fact that my parents’ little retirement acreage still had cable amazed me. Though my mom had only been dead for a few weeks, on my way here, I thought I’d show up to a house void of power, water, cable, and anything else she was supposed to pay for. The way my crazy sisters and their crazy husbands burned through our parents’ money, especially after my dad died, I thought I’d arrive to a husk of a home with only the sub-sub-basement bomb shelter to remind me that someone I loved had once lived here. I also thought my twenty-four-year-old niece would be waiting for me, crying because everything was gone or destroyed. She was my only family member who hadn’t completely gone off the deep end.
But no. Except for the dog that I brought, I was alone in the house. And everything here was a go.
Power. Water. Cable. It was all on, even as the rest of the world completely lost its shit. What’s weirder was that the bomb shelter was far from being cleaned out. It was ready with all the provisions and gas-powered machinery a family of six would need to survive the apocalypse for who knows how many years.
"Glad Mom at least paid her bills in advance, huh Lump?" I said to a twenty-pound pile of fawn-colored fur and fat flaps wearing a black mask. Apparently my only family left, she was a French bulldog, an indulgence purchased at the height of Covid, before society grew really dark, before my dad died of that disease, and the rest of my family went into full QAnon conspiracy theorist mode.
The television warning cut away, pulling my attention to a silent live wide shot video feed of Washington DC. It looked nice there. It was sunny. Early autumn pleasant. Kind of like it was out here. It was something I might have seen at the beginning of a local newscast if I lived in the DC area. However, when the camera panned in, I could see the flooded streets were ablaze with panic. People scurried from shop front to shop front, pulling on doors, crying, smashing windows. Cars moved at a turtle’s pace. People fought. I couldn’t pull my eyes from a lone woman who was clearly screaming at the top of her lungs while clutching a baby to her breast. It was like something out of a bad end-of-the-world movie.
I had to laugh.
The word, "bedlam" came to mind when a silent explosion took it all in a sudden, blazing white light that I almost wished I could hear bang and sizzle. It would be less surreal that way. It was so powerful I thought I could smell the unnatural burning even though I knew that was impossible. I was certain the television was going to shatter.
It didn’t.
Instead, the white faded to black then lifted to a well-lit CNN studio.
Christiane Amanpour, wearing a sad smile and a disheveled blue suit, said with a husky, trembling voice, "That’s it. I’m sure our turn is coming soon." Her eyes added, "I told you this was going to happen," but she offered a pathetic wave and signed off from a glowing blue and red news desk that mocked what I––what most of mankind––had just witnessed. As the screen once again faded to black, I heard some mumbling from the television’s speakers, something about more bombs falling.
It was cut by a series of gunshots and screams.
Then nothing.
This was expected. I was only surprised it took so long to happen after everything that went down in New York a few weeks earlier. Resigned, I looked down at Lump. She looked up, blinked.
"I’m sorry no one is here," I told her. I didn’t want to, but I glanced out the window and down the road. I didn’t want to, but I hoped I’d see my niece’s little blue electric Nissan speeding my way. I didn’t want to, but I wished someone would save me from myself.
There was no little blue electric Nissan. No one ever came out here. That’s probably the only reason everything was intact.
I was certain that, aside from my niece, those family members I last knew were alive and not in prison were most certainly dead. I didn’t even want to think about what those family members in prison were going through during these last few moments of history.
"Guess we’re going to have to do this." One hand in my pocket, I wrapped my fingers around the butt of a Sig P938. "I’m sorry, girl. It’s just easier," I added to Lump. "Even if the bomb shelter saves us from what’s coming, do you really want to be alive for what’s next?" With my free hand, I petted her head. She stretched up toward my open palm. A tear dotted the corner of my right eye. "At least we’re alive," I joked. "For—"
White noise boomed from the TV speakers.
I leaped to my feet, afraid for the first time since my dad died. It was a strange sensation, unfamiliar but with hints of familiarity, somehow new and old simultaneously, like a long-lost blanket discovered at the bottom of a plastic tub in the back of a packed garage. I thought this sensation should be hot.
It was cold.
The TV screen sprang to life with the black and white static of a pre-recorded 1980s VHS tape. Jagged black lines and chunks flipped and flopped in a sea of white and gray angles until a video of a military band playing "Nearer My God to Thee" sharply cut through the static. It was an old recording, grainy, broken. But the band sounded and looked fair. Their uniforms were pressed and sharp. Their instruments sparkled in pleasant, slightly overcast sunshine. They performed in dignified formation in front of four massive white pillars on the Turner Broadcasting Mansion. The mansion itself was a reddish-brownish-orangish brick monstrosity with white trim that I thought someone in the 80s thought was cool. Probably Ted Turner. I only thought this––in fact, I only knew it was his mansion––because I remembered my family driving through Atlanta on our way to the ocean one summer. We had stopped to see it because, I think, that’s the kind of thing relatively well-off people did in the 80s. And we had been relatively well-off in the 80s. When we returned home, my dad had forced the family to watch all of his video tapes of our trip over and over. I remembered this building clearly.
Something like a laugh escaped my lips, something like a shriek.
"The 80s," I said sardonically, remembering vague, hot afternoons in my elementary classroom hiding underneath a desk during the duck-and-cover drills of the Cold War. I still had no idea why we did that. Even as a first grader, I knew damn well a public elementary school desk wasn’t going to do shit against a nuclear warhead.
Lump stood on her hind legs and nudged my thigh.
The video looped.
The circular reflecting pool before the band unnerved me when I was a child. And it unnerved me again today. As bombs fell everywhere––and I knew they were even if I couldn’t hear or see them––I thought a military band playing what I believed was a Christian dirge over and over was appropriate. But the way I could sort of make out the band’s reflection in the water was not.
It was like a mockery of life; it was like my current existence.
Still, "It can’t be real," I said. So it doesn’t matter.
Nothing mattered anymore.
Not in this world.
I fiddled with the Sig’s hammer and turned away from the midshot of a woman elegantly conducting, her hands moving like gentle waves, from the zoom out of the drumline, their stoic expressions melting into the distance. I wanted to do what I came here to do. I couldn’t though. "Nearer My God to Thee" wouldn’t let me. It was hypnotic. It shouldn’t be.
I turned back to it.
I thought anyone who survives this whole mess is someone I don’t want to meet. Hell, I haven’t wanted to meet most people for a while, definitely since the ocean rose those few inches in those few months and all the people from the coasts wormed their way into the Midwest like a bunch of backward sharecroppers from the 1920s. The angrier Midwesterners called those folks “coasters” and meant it as an insult. I thought there should be plenty of room, but what did I know?
I wrapped my fingers around the gun

2024.05.28 05:27 Inevitable_College99 My baby kitten died and i still feel guilty

About a week ago my mother in law found a baby kitten in some thorn bushes outside her house, she sent my boyfriend and I a picture and we were hesitant at first to keep her because she was so small but we also were looking to get a second cat since we already had one so we decided to take her in. She was brought to us the next day and she was so small her little claws were barely visible, we had a bottle and little kitten nipple tops that helped with her feeding. We kept a warm water bottle in a sock at all times to keep her warm during the night , we would check in on her and give her comfort as much as we could. she only lasted 6 days before she passed away and i feel so guilty about it because that morning i had failed to check in on her and see how she was, she was very quiet the whole day and didn’t make much noise so i did my house cleaning duties and when i was done i checked in on her… she was gone… i sobbed and screamed, i felt an immense amount of anger towards myself because had I only checked in on her like how i had been every other day she would’ve been fine… its been 3 days since she passed and i still get so sad and i feel so guilty because she was a little baby and i just wanted to help her…

2024.05.28 04:17 Wesdna Even the puppies cause excess stress and problems

Just to start, the good news is, we are NOT keeping the puppy! I am blessed that my mom's eyes are open to the dangers of this breed and is saying she will go to a no kill shelter tomorrow if nobody wants her by tonight (I feel bad giving a pit to ANY family but my hands are tied)
My sister has wanted a dog for a long time, but my mom is adamant that we will not get a dog until we have a fence, given our yard is just open space and is inconvenient for dog ownership. Sadly we live in an area where loose, un-collard and unsupervised dogs roaming unleashed is a common occurrence, and with puppy season around... yikes. In defiance my sister goes out with the intent on finding a puppy, assuming mom will just agree to let her keep it.
Lo and behold she finds an 8 week-ish puppy and brings it home. Of course, it looks pit mix, at LEAST. Even though she is only about 8 weeks, maybe only a bit older, she is already showing concerning signs. I know puppies are destructive and playful as is, but anyone whose seen pit puppies just knows its just, wrong how they go about it. She does that violent head thrash when playing, whether toy or human flesh (hand, foot, etc) and has done it on family member's feet. Even when puppies play with hands, they usually just mouth, and even if they apply enough pressure for it to hurt, they are just getting used to their strength and learning pressure control. Not pit puppies, she has done that head thrash on my moms socked foot, and my brothers shoe still on his feet. She aggressively licks faces, and has even done that tell-tale jump up over and over to lick at my face (jumping on me specifically).
I feel like I'm going crazy, like I'm witnessing a psychopath run rampant in our house, but I'm the crazy one for calling it out. My family just thinks she's being a cute puppy, and even my mom who is against pits and promised me she will be out of the house just based on the possibility she might have pit in her (hasn't happened yet cause every place is closed for memorial day), says that I'm being excessively paranoid and reading too deep into it. Anyone who has witnessed pit puppies play know just how different it is from literally any other puppy from any other breed.
Even worse we have two nearly 3 month old kitten brothers, indoor cats. These boys I adore so much, they are my babies, and even as a puppy my heart fears for them. One of them is warmed up to the puppy a bit, and has minimal contact with her, but still plays with her, while the other (the sensible one) hisses whenever she gets close and he backs away.
I cannot begin to tell you the amount of pure stress and anxiety this one PUPPY has caused me. It's been two days but feels like two months! I feel like I'm going crazy and nobody else understands, except for my mom, at least enough for her to rehome it. I don't want the dog to suffer, I hope it will be one of the rare instances she will live out her life not attacking anyone and will be with a proper owner and spayed, but I want to rip my hair out. Genuinely pray that this dog leaves soon, preferably by tomorrow, and my kittens will still be alive by the end.
If a PUPPY is causing this much stress, how do people put up living with adults and "liking" it??
Edit: She's gone! That beast is gone and I'm practically in tears with relief! I didn't realize the depth or strength to the absolutely crushing pressure of stress and anxiety I was under with that thing running rampant in our house! I am so overcome with relief it's scary to think how an adult would make me feel! My mom and sister left to take her to a shelter decently far from our house. Also, both my kittens are alive and well, and one of the brothers is curled up asleep next to me as I type this! Finally, after two days of what felt like being held hostage in my own house, my home is once again a place of calm and security.
Thank you everyone who commented, reassuring me that I was right and not crazy. I kinda already knew that, but to be reassured what I was feeling was right is amazing thank you all! In the time I have posted originally the puppy had peed and pooped in the house, despite being taken out regularly and only cried while outside. Had bitten my sister in the arm (though didn't break skin thankfully) and has tried several times to bite one of the kittens. Ironically, she only tried to bite the one of the two that was chill around her, and didn't even touch the brother that would hiss at her and back away. Thank you all so much for reassuring me. Peace at last!

2024.05.28 04:00 nakialo AITAH for criticizing my sisters parenting style?

I (28/f) find it hard to be around my older sister (33/f) because I internally judge her parenting. I don’t say when things bother me because I don’t want to cause problems but I find myself being very rude to my sister because I hold in my opinions. I have no kids, btw. My sister has 5 kids ages 10 years - 6 months old.
Growing up I always judged my older sister for being selfish, irresponsible and had bad judgment. I thought becoming a mother and wife would mature her but it didn’t. She has always been lazy and she still is. Most days she lays in bed and there have been times my oldest niece has had to remind her to cook dinner for them. We used to live 20 minutes apart but I would rarely come over because I would find myself becoming so upset with how dirty the house and kids were. Her husband works full time so she would be the main caretaker.
I find myself thinking, give her grace, that’s a lot of kids to take care of. But, I can’t shake the thought of WHY DID YOU HAVE SO MANY FCKING KIDS!!!! 😭 And I want to help her and be there for the kids but I find it hard because if I mention anything she could do differently she takes it as a slight.
They’ve just moved to Hawaii and I flew to visit them. We drove to a beach where the waves were more rough than usual. Okay to swim in the waves if you were maybe a teenager or adult but, imo, no place for my nieces and nephews to swim. I told my BIL maybe they shouldn’t swim because it was too rough. He said it was ok and let them swim anyways. My biggest fear since they’ve moved to HI is any of the kids drowning. So the entire time the kids were in the water I stood like a damn bodyguard in front of my 6 y/o nephew to make sure he doesn’t go too far in. Whole time I’m fuming inside thinking why are they letting them swim in this.
My sister flew back with us and we had a connection which landed us back home at midnight. We brought my youngest 6 month old niece with us. She was wearing a onesie with no socks. Which was ok because we were still in Hawaii. It wasn’t until we got to our gate that I found out my sister had only packed diapers for the 14-hr travel day with no socks, long sleeve, blanket- nothing. She had a wrap that laid the baby onto her so she said that would be enough because of the body heat. Again, I found myself upset at the lack of responsibility.
A few days later when she flew back home to Hawaii she woke me up to take her to the airport. Again, my niece had on only a romper. It was 745am and 54 degrees outside. We got into an argument because I told her to dress her warmly. I was so upset when I dropped her off at the airport I didn’t even get out of the car to say goodbye.
I keep thinking, am I being too rough on my judgment? Should I give them more grace? I don’t have any kids so maybe I just don’t know what it’s like? Please let me know because I literally don’t want to visit them anymore but I do love my nieces and nephew a lot 😭 however I do not want my negativity to ruin things if I really am being too judgmental

The tracking dates for the next weekly chart is May 23, 11:00 PM GMT - May 30, 10:59 AM GMT and results will come out the next Monday, June 3.

How The Chart Works:

These charts are created based on how frequently each song appears in the top 10 songs/albums for all of the users signed up for the chart. If the song or album occupies that user's #1 spot in their individual chart, it receives 15 points, then 14 points for #2, so on and so forth until 6 points for #10. If there is a tie, which is a common occurrence, then the number of points is averaged across those positions, e.g. if two songs are tied for #1, both will receive 14.5 points. Oftentimes there will be multiple songs tied for the last place, in which case the number of points each song receives decreases until it bottoms out at 1 point each.

HI! I am installing an LVP. This is not my first project, but this is the first time I have had something I can't just toss a piece of trim around to cover a gap.
How would you handle this? Contour guide, jigsaw, and a small gap filled with silicone?

2024.05.27 18:32 OlemGolem How To Play A Gnome

"Tonight tonight, my plans I make, tomorrow tomorrow, the baby I take. The queen will never win the game, for Rumpelstiltskin is my name!"
-Rumpelstiltskin, Children’s and Household Tales, Brother’s Grimm-
There are similarities between the Halfling and the Gnome, but to call them the same is like calling Bob Ross the same as Salvador Dali, there are quite some more differences than it might seem. Gnomes are hard to spot, good with their hands, and a bit plucky, but they show this in a different way than other Little Folk. Their craftiness and inherent talent for magic make them good Artificers and Wizards. Still, just slapping a class and human-centric values onto a Gnome will let you miss out on role-playing opportunities. Even if your setting notes says something different about Gnomes (or nothing at all) you can use this post as a default filler for anything that is missing.
Note What is written here is the most (stereo)typical version of the Gnome culture which is evaluated from all the editions of D&D and more. If you don’t want to play the typical Gnome portrayed here, feel free to try playing against type such as a Gnome who is dimwitted, lazy, and destructive. Every creature is relative to the setting you are playing in, ask your DM for any specifics when it comes to what you want to play, if there aren’t any, this How to Play can fill in the blanks.

Morphology

The average Gnome is a humanoid of about 3 to 3 1/2 feet tall with a large nose and curved yet pointed ears that match their spikey hair which come in all human colors but is usually light. Males are able to grow mustaches and beards, but they are often shaped into goatees and are kept trimmed and pointy. Their skin comes in any kind of usually dark complexion but doesn’t change regardless of how much (or little) exposure to sunlight they get.
Subraces differ largely from each other in appearance. More details on them are under the Subraces section.

Demeanor

The typical Gnome is work-driven, curious, and has a sly sense of humor. They like to prank each other. Especially with practical jokes and tricks with illusions. Ever curious, Gnomes don’t stop asking questions and looking for answers. They have an experimental mindset in such a way that a bad result is just as pleasantly surprising as a positive one.
Gnomes are explorers, crafters, diggers, tricksters, and researchers. Even though digging is not every Gnome’s forté, their love for gemstones and noble metals motivates them to dig deep. Most gem cutting and setting is done by these people as their eye for detail and precise fingers allow for exact measurements and delicate placements. Next to anything gem-related, they also make excellent whitesmiths. Noble metals are more malleable and are often crafted for small and detailed work.
Rudeness among these people is treated as a major fault. Even inter-gnomish conflicts are rare as they are taught to handle things with humor. But Gnomes who are fist-fighting with each other are often ostracized by the entire village until the conflict is resolved. If it isn’t, then they might get banished. Outsiders of Gnome civilization might feel a strange mix of closeness and distance from the Gnomes. They are friendly but reticent, and it can take years to really get to know them as they often fear the interference and plans from outsiders but refuse to turn that fear into paranoia. This makes them come across as furtive and reserved to strangers. But established friends will also get introduced and connected to the Gnome’s whole family.
Gnomes often befriend animals in the area. You will see them mostly accompanied with a badger, stoat, otter, raccoon, or wolverine.

Culture

Known as The Forgotten Folk, Gnomes prefer to live underground, not as deep as Dwarves do, but they are content with having a home underneath the surface level. Where they live underground depends on the type of Gnome. Forest Gnomes live in wooded areas, Rock Gnomes prefer more plain plots of land and rolling rocky hills, and the Deep Gnomes live deeper underground close to the levels of the Underdark. In any way, they want to keep their homes away from Humans and have ways to keep them hidden from uninvited guests. Those who are invited tend to find their homes anyway but all find them to be too claustrophobic to stay for too long.
These eager innovators value hard work, discovery, progress, experimentation, play, and large noses. The last part is almost a superstition. They believe that being born with an exceptionally large nose shows a talented Gnome with a promising future. Nose-measuring contests are a time-killing past time for these folks.
They are encouraged to search for a type of work until they find something that they like, but whatever they work on, they will do so eagerly and with full attention. Multi-disciplinary gnomes are common as they tend to experience a long-term job before jumping to new endeavors in their lifetime. Outside of the usual gnomish disciplines, they prove to be excellent engineers, consultants, and planners.
The gnomish natural calendar has plenty of days for festivals and nightly rituals, most of which are based on stars and the position of the moon. Rituals about an eclipse are the most important to them as that is a rare moment where great celestial bodies collide. When celebrating these festivals, plenty of food is provided for everyone around. Gnomish cuisine is plain and leaves no room for the imagination. Their beverages are a required taste for outsiders, but they are complimented by their ability to keep them cool in the summer using subterranean cellars.
Gnomish music works better with their invented instruments rather than their singing, but none can refrain from singing along when it starts. Most outsiders can’t help but wait until the song is over and the gnomes are tuckered out.
When a Gnome is born, they get multiple names. They start out with the family name and get a name from the father and from the mother. Then, they get a name from aunts and uncles each, the grandparents each, and then a nickname from the rest of the village they are from. A gnome chooses how they want to be called based on one of those names, usually their favorite one. As the gnomish language tends to be detailed and long, Gnomes speak quickly to get their thoughts across on time. But as names go, it doesn’t always translate well to the common tongue and would sound alien to other folk.

Aesthetics

Gnomes express themselves with close-fitting colorful and extravagant clothing with intricate patterns or striped breeches, but choose earth tones and deep leathers over bright colors. To match their fashion sense of pointy hair and big noses, they prefer pointy clothing such as pointy hats and shoes with pointed tips. This is contrasted with their love for gemstones and noble metals that they decorate themselves with. You might see a Gnome with at least some kind of finely wrought item such as sparkly and detailed jewelry, preferably of their favorite gemstone.
Their homes are placed underground, usually in an unassuming place such as under a tree or lake that has its elements integrated into the household. By doing so, they like to create indoor decorations that shows where their home is placed and prefer methods that allow them to see outside without being spotted inside. The more secluded Gnomes tend to live so much scattered around an area that they might not be aware of their neighbors ever living in the same area. A fire is not uncommon in gnomish households, most get uncomfortable without an evening blaze.

Battle

Gnomes prefer to stay out of any direct combat. Only the largest, doorway-blocking Gnomes are willing to fight directly with anyone who is trying to invade their home. The most common strategy for this folk is to use illusions, tricks of the light, darkness, and stealth to group against larger foes and hit them at their blind spots and use their bulk and clumsiness against them. They like to put large creatures down a peg by distracting them, tying anything that’s loose, and tripping them. Then they use illusions to either avoid being caught or scare creatures away. Most creatures give up after being pranked like this for too long.

Religion

Gnomes are not a tremendously devout folk and have no creation myth, their deities have ‘always been there’ in a world of constant change and equilibrium. Yet, their form of worship is done by telling stories as they are seen as examples to follow. Self awareness among the Gnomes is learned by listening to the godly tales of The Lords in The Golden Hills. This way, they see how they should- and should not behave like.
Note: The majority of this pantheon is predominantly male. Current sources describe some as female which contradicts visual descriptions from older editions. No source states that this pantheon is patriarchal or gender-fluid. For the sake of clarity, I will use pronouns that match the descriptions from the earliest edition that they are introduced in.

Baervan Wildwanderer

Baervan is the second-most popular member of the gnomish pantheon. Protector of forests, glades, and travelers. Baervan is the most popular member of the pantheon after his friend Garl. Even the Svirfneblin honor him as the ”Father of Fish and Fungus.” Baervan is also the patron of gnomish thieves and a mischief-maker who rivals Garl himself. He is pictured as a spry old gnome with nutbrown skin and a jaunty beard. With him is his friend and constant companion in his escapades is a giant raccoon named Chiktikka Fastpaws. She tends to get the duo in trouble with outrageous acts.

Baravar Cloakshadow

A deity that teaches magic in order to deceive, annoy, or avoid potential enemies. The Sly One may not the best thief, but his ability to create tricks, illusions, and traps are of top skill.

Bleredd

The deity of mines, smiths, and iron work in Oerth. Husband of Ulaa.

Callarduran Smoothhands

The master of stone, worshipped primarily by Svirfneblin who see him as an equal to Garl. It was Calladuran who taught Svirfneblin how to summon and befriend earth elementals. His appearance is that of a wiry Svirfneblin miner, indistinguishable from virtually any other Deep Gnome except for a golden ring with a star insignia he always wears.

Flandal Steelskin

With his skin of mithril steel, eyes like flaming coals, and beard of silver-blue. Flandal is the patron of gnomish smiths. Not just blacksmiths but also goldsmiths, silversmiths, and all other workers in metal. He is physically the strongest of the gnomish gods, and his uncanny ability to sniff of the veins of metal that thread through earth makes him a patron of miners.

Gaerdal Ironhand

A deeply serious deity who might only chuckle in private. The only gnome who could be considered stern and serious is a staunch defender as The Shield of the Golden Hills despite his small stature.

Garl Glittergold

The grinning patriarch of the pantheon who is most approachable to anyone and travels the world looking for mischief. This deity looks like a gold-skinned gnome with a glorious mustache and gemstone eyes that shift as a kaleidoscope from sapphire to emerald, to ruby. A jokester and prankster who is proud of his followers. His chief concerns are twofold: to see that gnomes cooperate and to remind them that life is sometimes hard, so he shows them to keep a sense of humor. He carries an intelligent two-headed axe, Arumdina, everywhere, she is more of a companion rather than a possession. Although he is a fighter, he would rather use trickery and use brute force as an absolute last resort.

Gelf Darkhearth

Said to be Garl’s dark brother and bitter rival. A grey-skinned dwarf with a black beard who takes obsessive delight in opposing everything his brother attempts. He isn’t evil per se, but feels the need to start entropy in his angry and sorrowful nature.

Nebelun

Known as The Meddler, Nebelun is a restless and fearless inventor who starts with wild ideas that usually result in dangerous mistakes.

Rill Cleverthrush

An absent-minded artisan, Rill is always busy in his workshop polishing a newly cut gem or putting the finishing touches on a living statue to be given to a worthy mortal. He is depicted as an elderly, bespectacled gnome holding a ruby that has a facet for each living gnome in the world.

Segojan Earthcaller

A nature deity whose province is the creatures who burrow through the earth; he taught the gnomes how to befriend moles, badgers, and other subterranean animals. He appears as a grey-skinned gnome clad in armor made from grass and roots, accompanied by an intelligent stone golem. Anything provided by the earth is his domain. Including produce to cook, protecting homes, and even burial rites.

Sheyanna Flaxenstrand

The pantheon’s matchmaker, a delicate blonde gnome princess with a smile that can melt Gelf’s icy heart. Sheyenna is said to be source of rivalry between Garl and Gelf as they try to woo her in many legends and yet she never commits to any brother. She often carries a golden torch that can spout a fountain of flame wherever she points it at.

Ulaa

The Stonewife, goddess of hills, mountains, and gemstones. Depicted as a dwarven woman with gnomish facial features.

Urdlen

Once a selfish and greedy Gnome, many stories tell of how Urdlen was sent to exile by Garl Glittergold. This transformed him into an elephantine blind naked mole with iron teeth and claws, also known as The Glutton. Destructive, jealous, and rampant, Urdlen is set as an example for all Gnomes of what not to be.

Alterations

A gnome (/noʊm/[1]) is a mythological creature and diminutive spirit in Renaissance magic and alchemy, introduced by Paracelsus in the 16th century and widely adopted by authors including those of modern fantasy literature. Typically small humanoids who live underground, gnome characteristics are reinterpreted to suit various storytellers and artists.[2] Lawn ornaments crafted as gnomes were introduced during the 19th century, growing in popularity during the 20th century as garden gnomes.

Age, appearance, cultural differences, traits, and demeanor differ when it comes to subraces. These subraces are relative to certain settings and not all of these are re-made in each edition. There are a lot of varied details of each subrace that would be required reading from the sources if you need to know more. I’m merely giving them your attention so that you could search for them yourself and perhaps your DM could allow some unique flavor to the kind of Gnome you want to play.

Forest

More shy and reclusive, the Forest Gnomes prefer to live in unspoiled land. They are smaller than their cousins, averaging from 2 feet to 2 ½ and still have a stocky physique. The skin of these Gnomes are often of a greenish cast of tan rather like bark. Their eyes are often blue or brown and green is less often seen. Their hair is in shades of brown of black, only becoming gray or white with old age. They tend to wear their hair quite long for their height.
The Forgotten Folk of the woods are determined caretakers of their domains. They are viewed with friendship by the native animals and developed a limited language of signs and sounds with them. As they rarely eat animals, they also loathe traps. They are seen as trap saboteurs by outsiders.

Rock

Industrious visionaries with a nose larger than any human or dwarf’s could match. Despite their light frame, they can be as strong as the average human. The most common eye color among this type of gnome is blue, yellow and brown are quite a rare sight. Their skin comes in a variety of tan shades and can go to nearly black. Next to the hair colors known by humans, they most often show shades of gray to stark white.
Rock Gnomes are the most common found by other folk, but that doesn’t make them the norm. They are more willing to craft and experiment but are not keen on the continuous hard labor of digging and smelting. Their detail work and gem-setting is where they feel more at home.

TinkeMinoi

Similar to Rock Gnomes in appearance, the Minoi are native to Krynn and are the most wildly innovative creatures in the known world. Their inventions are plentiful but usually go awry when they work on the finishing touches, which might never get to that stage.
Gnomes tend to look for gem stones, but the Tinker Gnome sees more value in coal, also known as The Father of Steam. The inventions they make get to a level of danger equal to the number of moving parts it needs to have.

Deep/Svirfneblin

More dour and serious than their kin, the Deep Gnomes live close to the dwellings of the Underdark where they eagerly dig for jewels. Their hairless skin is comes in varying colors of dark rock. Only the females have hair on their heads, usually in a stone gray color. Their clothing is less ostentatious as their other kin as they can blend in with their surroundings easier when standing still.
Tenacious at survival and ore-digging, the Deep Gnomes endure the hostile Underdark solely to get more gems out of the earth. Particularly rubies which they refuse to use just for pretty display but for sacred objects with tremendous value. This eagerness for digging often makes them a pest to other species of the sunless world.

2024.05.27 17:50 Plenty_Transition470 Can we let little girls be little girls?

My new next-door neighbours have two little girls. They’re sweet, well-dressed and shy. They sometimes play in the hallway, I use “play” very loosely because mom puts them out into the windowless, stuffy halway without toys or snacks for an hour or so and they hand out by the door, completely unoccupied, chirping to themselves like little birds.
Last time they must’ve been very bored because they came up to me to chat. And the older one said something that made my heart hurt. I asked her how old they are (five and two), and she said that she used to be the baby, until her sister came along but, once she did, her grandmother told her that she’s a grownup now. When she said it, she was not happy-proud like some kids are, she looked sad. She’s five years old! She’s three feet tall and has tiny ruffles on her socks and loves fire trucks. She’s still a baby, which is what I told her. They’re both babies.
This little girl, who should be up on monkey bars on a sunny Sunday, isn’t just playing with her baby sister, she’s watching her. I live in North America, so we’re not in a developing country, and I’m looking at this child that’s well on the way to parentification and I can’t help but be mad, at the world where parents still have children they can’t adequately parent and expect their elder daughters to sleep in.
Can you imagine someone telling a three-year-old boy that he’s an adult now? We’re making excuses for twenty-something men committing crimes saying that “they’re just boys.” Meanwhile, “eldest daughter” is a trending meme because so many girls had to be a third parent to multiple younger siblings because that’s what we expect of the little girls - to give up their childhood for the benefit of the family, so then they can give up their independence to be a wife and their best earning years to be a mother, and the last of their health and free time caring for elderly in-laws.
Can we normalize raising girls to be individuals, not appliances? Tell them that their labour has to be earned and they’re at no obligation to give it. Because it looks like we still have a way to go.
UPDATE: I have reached out to the CPC in my area and was told to call the police, if children are left unattended again. I find this an unsatisfactory solution because calling the cops on a newcomer POC family because they may not understand safety concerns around unsupervised play seems like exactly what the POC community advocates warn against. Ideally, this is the job for a community support worker.
Fortunately, the CPS agent also agreed to speak with the building Super and have her talk to the mom about children playing unsupervised. This is also not ideal, but still better than the police. The CPS may send the family a letter about child supervision.

🔗Durable & Flexible Duct Cord Cover - 10ft (Gray)

https://preview.redd.it/kivx20m5zx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f056342dbe13b86753838f679a4acfad157c1ed0
I recently installed the Electriduct D-22 Rubber Duct Cord Cover in my living room to conceal a white extension cord running between my sofa and a comfortable chair. I must say, this split channel design has been a game-changer! The grooved bottom ensures the duct doesn't slide on our polished hardwood floors, making it skid-resistant, safe, and visually pleasing. With three color options available (black, brown, and gray), it perfectly complements our interior décor.
One aspect that really stood out was its non-conductive and heat-resistant properties, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor use. However, it's essential to note that it can only accommodate pedestrian foot traffic, so it might not be ideal for high-traffic areas.
What I appreciated the most about this product is its ability to withstand heavy traffic, making it a perfect choice for garages and warehouses. The large center channel is excellent for managing thick cables, while the two smaller side channels can accommodate additional smaller cords or wires.
Overall, the Electriduct D-22 Rubber Duct Cord Cover has made managing my cords and wires effortless. I can now focus on my daily tasks without worrying about trip hazards. Highly recommended!

🔗153in Wall Cable Concealer for 2-3 Cords

https://preview.redd.it/1e2sels5zx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5bd23dfa41c68657bf01e384edbe6992753b8e53
I recently received the ZhiYo 153in Cord Hider Wall and I couldn't be more pleased with its performance. As someone who loves a clean and organized space, I was on the hunt for a cable management solution that wouldn't damage my walls. That's when I stumbled upon this cord hider.
The installation process was incredibly easy, thanks to the pre-applied adhesive tape, which made it a breeze even for a novice. All I had to do was peel and stick the cable cover base onto the wall before placing in the cords. It's a game-changer for anyone looking to organize their messy cords and create more space for activities.
One of the features that stood out for me was the high-quality PVC material used in the cable raceway. It not only provided better flame retardancy but also made it safer and more reliable. Plus, it's paintable and cuttable to match my home decor.
However, one downside I encountered was the limitation of using the adhesive tape on textured walls. Despite this minor inconvenience, I have to admit that the ZhiYo Cord Hider Wall has made my living room both safer and more aesthetically pleasing.
In summary, if you're looking for a reliable and easy-to-install cable management solution without causing damage to your walls, then the ZhiYo 153in Cord Hider Wall is worth considering.

🔗Wiremold CordMate Cord Cover Kit for Neat and Tidy Spaces

https://preview.redd.it/z30zoq36zx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80a0aca70de66fafc9e3aabf2fe9bf0182db14db
I recently used the Wiremold C110 CordMate Cord Channel Kit to conceal a few cords and wires in my living room. The first thing that stood out to me was its stylish design; the smooth, white finish blended seamlessly with my room's interior, making it almost invisible.
The kit's flexibility was another highlight. Being able to cut and shape it to fit into tight spaces around furniture and moldings made it incredibly convenient. Plus, the fact that I could easily paint or stain it to match my room's color scheme was a huge plus.
However, there were a few minor issues. Firstly, the adhesive wasn't as strong as I'd hoped it would be, especially on freshly painted walls. Secondly, although the kit comes with enough pieces for an average project, I wish there were more corner cover pieces included.
Despite these cons, I must say, overall, the Wiremold C110 CordMate Cord Channel Kit did a fantastic job of hiding unsightly cords and wires. It was quick and easy to install, and the result was a clean, organized look that perfectly matched my room's design. If you're looking for a way to tidy up loose cords and wires, I highly recommend giving this product a try.

🔗D-Line Cable Tube: Hide TV Cords and Desk Cable Management

https://preview.redd.it/b6ch2ys6zx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ac0f416cd026fb0853f0497a3f78b486e443ee4
I was on the lookout for a cable management solution to get rid of the unsightly jungle of cords and wires behind my TV and computer desk. That's when I came across the D-Line Cable Tube. This product has made hiding and organizing my cables such a breeze! The cable hider is pre-split for easy insertion of cords, and its length is perfect for accommodating most desk and TV heights. It's easy to trim to size with scissors if necessary.
One feature that really stood out is how the material is both durable and flexible. The cable management tube is made from LDPE, which is a sturdy material that can be easily cut to size but also withstands the wear and tear of daily use. The tube's diameter can comfortably accommodate multiple cords, preventing any tangling or knotting that can often occur with unorganized wires.
However, one drawback that some users mentioned is that the tube can be quite stiff after cutting, making it difficult to shape it around furniture or tight spaces. Additionally, some reviewers felt that the length of the tube was not long enough to cover all their cords, requiring them to purchase additional units.
Despite these minor inconveniences, the D-Line Cable Tube has been a game-changer in managing my cords and keeping my space clutter-free. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to bring some organization to their mess of cables.

🔗Simple DIY In-Wall TV Power Kit

https://preview.redd.it/1058hcu6zx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be72935b30c40239701d44d680f06f65a91c568e
You know how after a long day, all you want to do is unwind in your cozy living room with your favorite show? But those unsightly cords coming out of your TV really disrupt the aesthetic vibe. Well, let me tell you about my experience with this Echogear in Wall Power Kit.
Firstly, it's incredibly easy to install. Just bring a drill and maybe a beer, and you're good to go. It comes with a pre-wired, power-ready system that's ETL In-Wall Certified, which means it meets high safety standards. It also ensures that your house stays up to code.
The cable pass-through on this kit is a game changer. It's got plenty of space for all your HDMI, Ethernet, and audio cables. It's like giving all those cords a secret hideout behind your wall. I must admit, seeing how clean my room looked after I hid all those cords away was super satisfying.
However, there's one thing that could be improved. The kit only includes a single outlet, which might be limiting for some people who have multiple devices connected to their TV. But overall, this Echogear in Wall Power Kit is a fantastic investment if you're looking to clean up the look of your entertainment setup.

🔗Wall Cord Hider - Simple and Compact Solution for Cable Management

I recently purchased a wall cord hider to help manage the cables and cords in my home office. I have to say, this little gadget has been a game-changer! Gone are the days of tangled, unsightly cables all over the floor.
The double-sided mounting tapes make it incredibly easy to install this cord hider on the baseboard or wall. The self-adhesive backing gives me peace of mind knowing that my devices will stay securely in place. Not only does this cord hider keep my space looking organized, but it also helps prevent potential accidents by keeping those loose cables out of sight and out of reach.
One minor drawback I noticed is that once the mounting tape is installed, it can be quite difficult to remove without heat. So, if you're planning on redecorating or moving furniture, you may need to invest in a hairdryer or heat gun to loosen the adhesive.
All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend the wall cord hider to anyone looking for a simple and effective way to manage their cables and wires.

🔗D-Line Paintable TV Cable Raceway Organizer

https://preview.redd.it/4b8vmyo7zx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fdabe8160b98e34af2e71ee18e56131ac28b3fa2
When I first started using the D-Line Cable Raceway, I was skeptical about its ability to neatly hide cables on my walls. However, this product has surpassed my expectations! With its half-round profile, it effortlessly subtly blends with my home decor. Its dimensions make it perfect for concealing cables from wall-mounted TVs, desks in offices, home entertainment systems, and even TV/video cabling.
One of the highlights of this D-Line Cord Cover is its innovative single-piece hinged design. This design provides flexibility, allowing me to easily add or remove cables at a later date. Plus, the self-adhesive backing makes installation quick and simple - just peel and stick it onto your desired surface, or screw fix it for added stability.
Not everyone knows that D-Line Cable Raceway is also paintable! This feature adds a perfect finish to your installed cables. It was so easy to conceal and blend with my home's aesthetic.
One minor drawback I encountered was the bulkiness, but that's a small price to pay for the neat appearance it provides. I would recommend D-Line Cable Raceway to anyone looking for a high-quality and good-looking way to hide unsightly cords.

🔗D-Line 39" Low-Profile Cable Cover - Black

https://preview.redd.it/5hsmqu08zx2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=899e94a7fed340140846221de0394a9b9a7dc17d
As an avid home entertainment enthusiast, I was excited to try the D-Line 39" Cable Cover - Black to improve the appearance of my setup. This cord hider boasts a unique half-round profile that blends seamlessly with my decor, neatly concealing cords, wires, and cables in my home.
The quick and easy installation process, involving simply peeling off the adhesive backing and sticking it to a wall surface, made this product stand out. Its innovative one-piece design also allows for easy addition or removal of cords at a later date.
However, one issue I encountered was the strong adhesive strip on the back, which can potentially cause damage to the sheetrock when trying to remove it. Perhaps using a few inches of the adhesive strip or drilling holes for drywall anchors may be a better solution for situations where the cord hider needs to be removed.
Despite this minor inconvenience, I am very pleased with how my home entertainment area looks after using the D-Line 39" Cable Cover. It effectively hides and manages cords, giving my setup a polished and organized appearance.

🔗DIY Wall-Mounted TV Cord Hider

I've been using the A+ Electric Cord Hider to keep my home office tidy and clutter-free. The blended design, which can be painted to match my wall color, made it incredibly easy for me to install without disrupting the aesthetics of my room.
This cord hider is perfect for both residential and commercial use, allowing me to maintain a clean and organized workspace. I also appreciate that it's family-safe, providing a safe solution for cable management in my home with two young kids and a curious pet.
Plus, its easy installation options make it a breeze to set up. If you're looking for an effective way to keep your cables hidden and your space looking pristine, this cord hider is definitely worth considering.

I recently stumbled upon the D-Line Oak Wood Effect Cable Raceway while rearranging my living room, and I couldn't be happier with this little gem. As a self-confessed cable management enthusiast, I've tried numerous solutions to keep my wires neat and tidy. However, none of them seemed to truly blend in with the rest of my home decor - until I encountered the D-Line raceway.
Its unique half-round profile made it an instant hit for me, as it subtly blended in with my brown-toned decor, helping me achieve that clean and organized look I cherish so much. I was especially impressed by how easy it was to install the raceway, all thanks to its high-grade pvc material that allowed me to cut it to the exact length I needed.
One of my favorite features of the D-Line raceway is its hinge-like mechanism, which opens up along the entire length, making it incredibly easy for me to insert multiple cords at once, without needing to pass them through from the front. Plus, it's flexible enough that I can add or remove cords with ease at a later date, making it super versatile for all my electronic devices.
Another aspect that truly stood out for me was the raceway's adhesive back, which not only made it a breeze to stick onto smooth surfaces but also allowed me to remove and reposition it as needed, without leaving any residue behind. This was particularly useful when I changed the position of my furniture and needed to adjust the cable management accordingly.
In terms of cons, there's not much to mention, except that perhaps the "Oak Effect" isn't as convincing as one might hope, but it still manages to look pleasing to the eye and complements my existing decor quite nicely.
All in all, I would highly recommend the D-Line Oak Wood Effect Cable Raceway to anyone looking for an effective and visually appealing solution to their cable management woes. It truly is a game-changer in the world of home organization!

However, I did encounter a minor hiccup. The piece I received was slightly bent, which was a bit disappointing. But hey, nobody's perfect, right?
Overall, I'm quite pleased with the D-Line 39" Cable Cord Cover - White. It's a simple, effective solution for organizing and hiding cords, and it definitely gets a thumbs up from me.

Echogear's Wall Cable Hiders are a game-changer when it comes to cord management. These easy-to-install grommets are perfect for TVs, speakers, and other mounted devices. I personally used these to declutter my home office, and let me tell you, it made a world of difference!
The best part about these cable hiders is how versatile they are. I was able to route wires through my desk with ease, making my space look more organized and professional. Plus, with the included drywall hole saw drill attachment, installation took no time at all.
One standout feature is that the grommets come in both black and white, so they blend in perfectly with any color scheme. And if you're feeling creative, you can even paint them to match your decor.
However, I did find one minor con: the included saw is meant for drywall only. If you want to install these on a wooden desk, you'll need to purchase a separate 1.5" wood hole saw.
Overall, Echogear's Wall Cable Hiders are a must-have for anyone looking to take control of their cable clutter. They're affordable, easy to use, and make a huge difference in the appearance and functionality of your space.

🔗157-inch Black Cord Cover for Hiding Surface Wires on Wall

I recently got my hands on the D-Line 157-inch Cord Cover Kit, and I must say, it's made my home look much cleaner and organized! This cable raceway does exactly what it promises - it hides those unsightly wires on my wall while blending seamlessly with my decor. The best part is how easy it is to install. The self-adhesive backing makes it a breeze to stick onto my wall, and I can even cut the lengths to my preferred size. Plus, there are accessories available to help hide cables around corners, making this product incredibly versatile.
I also love that the cable raceway is paintable, which means I don't have to worry about it not matching my wall color. As for negatives, well, if you're planning to use this to hide wires on a particularly heavy-duty appliance, you might need a few small nails or screws to keep everything secure.
Overall, the D-Line 157-inch Cord Cover Kit has made a significant difference in how my home looks. It's easy to use, versatile, and helps keep those nasty wires hidden. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a seamless, attractive solution to cable management.

🔗360 Lighting Antique Brass 30" Cord Cover

I recently installed the 360 Lighting 30" Long Antique Brass Cord Cover in my living room, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The antique brass finish blended perfectly with my room's modern decor, making the electrical cords practically disappear. I didn't expect such a simple addition to make such a difference!
One thing that really stood out for me was how easy it was to install. It took me just a few minutes, and it made an immediate impact on the overall look of the space. Plus, the 0.5" width allowed me to cover just one cord without any issues or complications.
On the other hand, one small drawback I noticed was that the product isn't available in black. While the antique brass color is lovely, it might not match everyone's decor preferences. Additionally, some users have mentioned that the product description can be a bit misleading, as the cord cover is made up of two pieces instead of one 30" piece.
Overall, I would highly recommend the 360 Lighting 30" Long Antique Brass Cord Cover to anyone looking to tidy up their space and conceal unsightly cords. It's a small investment that can make a big impact on your room's overall appearance.

I recently installed this sleek and versatile wall cord cover in my living room to tidy up a mess of cables that were running from my TV stand to the power outlet. I'm pleased to say, it's made a world of difference in terms of organization and aesthetics.
The mesh cable sleeve is incredibly easy to use, just wrap it around the cords you want to conceal and voila! My living room now has a cleaner, more polished look without those unsightly cords jutting out.
The size of the cover is just right too, fitting perfectly around the width of each plug-in outlet. Plus, with its 2-meter length, it's long enough to cover multiple outlets, making it ideal for bigger or complex setups.
However, one minor issue I've experienced is that the tight grip of the cover can sometimes lead to cords getting pulled slightly when pulling on them. But overall, this cord cover has been a game-changer for my cable management woes.
So if you're looking for a stylish and practical solution to hide those unsightly cords, look no further! This wall cord cover is a definite must-have for any home.

2024.05.27 06:40 gendernotfound629 A random Redditor's unsolicited opinions about the new season

I'm sadly the only Whovian in my immediate circle so I have to instead gush to random internet strangers.
Am I crazy, brain utterly broken by the desperation left in me by the Chibnall era for some good fucking Who, or has this new Davies era been an absolute blast so far?
The Star Beast gave me more of the David Tennant/Catherine Tate chemistry I'd been longing for for years, as well as some lovely trans representation that I appreciated as a trans woman myself.
Wild Blue Yonder was, I think, the first all-time-classic Doctor Who story since the Capaldi years. Absolutely horrifying villains, stellar acting from the two principal actors, a mystery that got me thinking the entire time, and Bernard Cribbins at the end just knocked my socks off. Plus the 'mavity' gag sticking around is absolutely peak.
The Giggle was the most unconventional Doctor sendoff we've seen since 2005 and I'm here for it. The Toymaker was a terrifying and delightful villain, bigeneration was exactly the kind of WTF moment I love to see from this show, and I actually cried multiple times--namely when Fourteen was finally ready to regenerate, and when he got to live his happily ever after with the Nobles.
The Church on Ruby Road was a great way to bridge the gap to this new, more supernatural era with a decidedly magical villain in the goblins, while still showing the Doctor approaching them with an analytical side. Also a very compelling setup for Ruby's progression through season 1. The musical number is also super fun.
Space Babies...eh? Fine, I guess? Every season seems like it's gotta have at least one or two stinkers, right? Love & Monsters, anyone? If nothing else, Ncuti and Millie's absolute besties energy carries it for me.
The Devil's Chord hit particularly close to home for me, as someone who's spent her entire life surrounded by and engrossed in music. A world without music is as terrifying as the apocalypse they see such a world bring about. The musical number at the end is delightful and also super ominous. Honorable mention to the Maestro for being terrifying, and I appreciate that the godlike power Fourteen unleashed via the Toymaker actually went (or is still going...?) on to have some major repercussions.
Boom reminded me of the all-time Moffat classics. It was tense, it was sad, it was character-driven, and I loved every second of it. Not much more to say than that.
And now 73 Yards is, I think, in my top 5 episodes of New Who...ever. I feel like the idea of a fae trickster god brings to lots of people's minds a Toymaker type, crazy and whimsical and sadistic, but I find the alternative presented here way more terrifying--Mad Jack, freed from the faerie circle by the Doctor's carelessness (like the Toymaker, now that I think about it), is just a super charismatic politician who really wants to nuke some people. I don't even know how to describe it, it just gives me chills for some reason. Also I kinda love that the episode doesn't actually have the title sequence at the beginning. Makes it feel more uncertain, like anything could happen.
I guess that's what's making me so happy about this new season. Anything can happen! I haven't even mentioned the Susan Twist cameos--what's up with that? Why was the kid from the beginning of The Devil's Chord there at the end of the episode in the musical number? Why does Mrs. Flood know what a TARDIS is? Will we ever see the Bogeyman again???
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

2024.05.27 04:30 sipsredpepper Boomer Mom and the Back Door

I posted an abbreviated version of this story from a couple weeks ago in a comment, and a good chunk of people seemed to relate. I figured i would share the expanded version. I hope you enjoy, or at the very least don't die from secondhand stress. Reader beware, this shit is gonna be fucking looong.
So my mom asked me and my sister to help her with her back door. It's got tons of water damage and rot, it's extremely visible. And it's to the point now that if it doesn't get fixed, it will continue to rot the side of her house. Fine, sure. She totally could afford to pay for a pro, but it's understandable that in this economy she would see if a DIY is possible. It's not that hard to replace a door frame, and between three reasonably competent adults, we should manage, right? Maybe it will take like, 8 hours if we're working at a comfortable pace. Oh, do i regret those thoughts.
So we get there at 10am on Saturday. I'm dressed, my sister is dressed, we've got our food already, my nephew is settled, and she - is still cooking breakfast in her socks. And asks my sister to text me, asking if i want eggs and bacon, while the Starbucks sandwich and coffee she brought me are sitting on the table. No thanks mom. Fine, whatever, we will start shortly.
The bulk of the demo gets done in under two hours. It's clear early on that this damage goes way further than my mom implied, but the two of us assumed that coming in, so no worries yet.
We have to argue with her to take down the French doors. She somehow expected us to replace the door frame, without removing the doors. Why? She didn't want to router out new places for the hinges. You know, the thing you trace with a pencil and router out. That will take too much effort..... but never mind the frame that the fucking things are screwed into.
We get the damn doors off. There are at least two different idiots who fucked up this door frame in its lifetime, multiple amatuer mistakes and wrong material choices, but it's all fixable. My mom refuses to wait to finish the demo before going to the store for materials, meaning we don't get full measurements, and she didn't see the extent of the drywall rot. Ok.....fiiiiine. Let's go to the fucking store.
How long do you think it would take to fill a cart with a door frame worth of industry standard materials and get outta there? If you said two and a half hours, gold star for you. I had to fight with her for any ounce of expedition that i could get, and even then it continued to be ridiculous. She didn't want to spend 24$ on a roll of flashing tape, because a) she wants to save money, and b) she won't use the whole thing! She will have leftover, and maybe even have to trim it! So she reaches over for a 12$ roll.... of all purpose aluminum tape. You know, the shit you use to repair METAL. "Oh but it says all purpose, and it's waterproof." MOM. You are IN THIS MESS, because of more than one idiot using the wrong materials and process due to being cheap, or stupid, or both. WHY do you want to repeat their mistakes? I had to dedicate at least 15 minutes to get her to buy the correct shit. All she would have saved is 12$, to get the wrong thing, that wouldn't fulfill the job, and really in her having to fix it all the fuck over again later. WHYYYYY.
She would not let me go get anything on her behalf. She had to pick everything out herself. "You said you need a tape measure, you want me to go get one for you?" "I WANT TO PICK OUT MY TAPE MEASURE. I WANT TO." Like a child. Mom it is a fucking tape measure. How fancy of a tape measure could you possibly need to have for this project? Just tell me "less than 25$ cost, 30ft length, preferably a Stanley." Let me save you fucking any time at all so we can go home and work on the door. But nope, that's me being controlling. And she wants to spend 10 minutes picking out the fucking tape measure.
We finally get outta the store and get home, and she proceeds to sit down, order food for herself (offered none to me, her free labor), and take a two and a half hour break while we wait for my sister to get back from a thing. At this point, the Demo isn't even fully done. It is after 5.
We "pick back up" at this point to get the jamb board cut. It's a 6in wide board that we gotta cut to the jamb, and then trim to 4.5 inches. No problem! She got a circular saw and everything. Nope. She needs to spend another 35 fucking minutes piddling around with some straight edge tool she bought for her circular saw for making straighter cuts. The width of this thing and the platform of the circular saw are wider than the jamb board. She notices this extremely quickly, but still putters around trying to make it work until I finally stop her and go "Mom... does this cut need to be perfect? It's abutting the deck which is also not perfect. You won't even see it under the fuckin threshold. Do you seriously need this?" "Oh, well i guess not." NO SHIT. This cut plays next to zero part in the seal and function of the frame under these circumstances. And, this is a circular saw. It's really hard to cut a super bad line with it. AND, THE DAMN THING HAS A LAZER GUIDE ON IT. The cut took a couple minutes.
Then we get to screwing in the damn board. It needs like, 8-12 screws maximum. So we need to predrill and screw in. How nice then, that my mother's day gift to her is a brand new Dewalt cordless drill. Nope. "I don't want to waste time with switching the bits back and forth, that's inefficient." So she goes to the garage..... gets out her old, corded, ryobi drill.... puts the drill bit in one, and the screw bit in the other one..... and then makes us switch between two drills. If you're having a hard time picturing it, we would have had to switch the bits back and forth maybe 5 times to do this easily. You don't have to switch every time you do a new screw. Nope, she wants it this way, so instead we're gonna waste another 10 minutes getting another fucking drill out for "efficiency".
If you thought the tool stupidity was done, take a break now. We need to cut out the bottom of one of the 2x4s on the frame to remove a rotted section and put a new piece there. Common, easy, fast. She decides yet again not to use the correct tool. She wants FAST results. So she gets my sister in place, cuz her back won't tolerate the angle, and wants her to use the circular saw, held sideways, to cut the bottom of the 2x4 out. The depth that saw can cut is deeper than the depth of the 2x4. At this point, i lost it. I told her "I'm gonna outright be an asshole here, and tell you not to put my sister and yourself at safety risk by using the wrong tool for this job. It's not ok. Get the damn oscillating saw out. What do you fucking know, the correct tool accomplished the job just fucking fine in all of 3 minutes.
At this point i am checked the fuck out. She also has to stop, go back to the fucking store for more shit because at this point she can see she needs drywall. I'm no longer being nice or patient. By 930, I'm barely awake, we are still not done, she can't even find things for me to do because she a) has no plan, and b) didn't want me doing anything that isn't exactly her way.
I took a nap upstairs. I was awakened an hour later by my poor sister begging me to take my nephew home and put him to bed, which i did. You know when my sister got home? 230 IN THE FUCKING MORNING.
AND ON TOP OF THAT. IT'S STILL. NOT. DONE. THAT'S JUST WHEN THEY FINALLY CALLED IT QUITS.
I literally can't even figure out where the time went. 16.5 hours of time, with three adults (a civil engineer with experience in home repair of this nature, a software developer, and a trauma nurse), countless youtube guides, and industry standard materials with appropriate power tools, could not make this happen on a single Saturday because my fucking boomer mother couldn't let go of micro control of any of it. And had no respect for our time and volunteer effort for her home repair, taking constant breaks, putting no time into planning, and not even offering a planned meal. I fed myself.
I can't even fully comprehend this situation a week later. It's a blur of staggering incompetence. Im not even sure this post about the event makes any sense. Anyway, here is this mess. Thanks for reading.

2024.05.27 01:05 -PepeArown- Revamping Nether Fortresses for an End Update

Revamping Nether Fortresses for an End Update
No, my title is not a typo. I believe that, not only do strongholds: the main way you go to the End need to be updated, but also Nether fortresses, as they’re how you obtain blaze powder for eyes of Ender.
This post will tie into my stronghold revamp post, so I’d suggest reading that if you haven’t already:
https://www.reddit.com/minecraftsuggestions/comments/1cnei5m/revamping_strongholds_for_an_end_update/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
With Mojang’s current annual update speed, I honestly think it may be better for them to create “two” End updates: one that fixes the “pre End”, mainly through fixing “castles” (strongholds and fortresses) as well as adding a few other new additions to the Nether, which I’ll detail in my Nether archaeology post, and one that actually fixes the End dimension, which I’ll do more write ups on. (So far, I’ve already done a write up on my concept for a “melodic forest” biome.)
https://www.reddit.com/minecraftsuggestions/comments/1ct1w47/the_melodic_forest_concept_for_an_end_biome/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
I have some very basic concept art to share for this post, most of which is admittedly basic retextures or hue shifts of current items.
Anyways, my plan is to turn the Nether fortresses into a Nether version of trial chambers, only slightly easier to make up for how they’re mandatory for game progression. The structures will still be given the same name, but go through several major changes to be more current, while still keeping major features like blazes, wither skeletons, and Nether wart intact.
So, I want to go over some new building blocks that these renovated fortresses could be made out of, or that you could use yourself for new Nether themed builds.
Polished Netherrack
Can be crafted by putting a 2x2 of netherrack in a crafting table. Basically, just smooth netherrack in a grid.
Can then be smelted into smooth polished netherrack, giving it a dark purplish red color akin to Nether brick, still with the smooth grid texture.
Both blocks can be made into slabs, stairs, and walls.
Nether Brick Fence Gate
No reason this shouldn’t be in the game already. Would simply be added for parity with all the other fence types.
Red Nether Brick Fences and Fence Gates
Similar story to Nether brick fence gates, but with red Nether brick.
Cracked and Chiseled Red Nether Bricks
Do I need to explain this one?
Blue Nether Bricks
Ideally, I think red Nether bricks should be renamed to crimson Nether bricks, and these should be called warped Nether bricks, but I’ll just go for calling them red and blue.
They’d be crafted like this with a new item called warped wart, which I’ll go into later when I get into loot.
https://preview.redd.it/0vl9g0alku2d1.png?width=484&format=png&auto=webp&s=d5e9e6b423a81e3277663755a85549cdaba156ff
Here’s some concept textures from u/Mystjc101 that show off how normal, red, and blue Nether bricks could look. Although, I still do think fences and fence gates should be added along with them, as well as my proposition for smooth polished Netherrack. Also, this technically isn’t the original picture, as I edited the blue Nether bricks to look tealer.
https://preview.redd.it/vv2t4kzoku2d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=c102690c13dded863dfe5cda492c2ba535233428
And, one other variant, actually…
Weeping Red and Twisting Blue Nether Bricks
Essentially, mossy Nether bricks for the red and blue variant.
They’d be crafted with the corresponding brick’s vine, like such:
Not sure how to make a block model yet, so text is the best I can do for now.
Using weeping red Nether bricks as an example, you could then make:
-Weeping red Nether brick slabs
-Weeping red Nether brick stairs
-Weeping red Nether brick walls
-Weeping red Nether brick fences
-Weeping red Nether brick fence gates
Likewise, just replace “weeping red” with “twisting blue” for the blue variants.
Having the moss/vines match the color of the bricks is intentional. Having, say weeping moss over blue Nether bricks would clog the game with too many blocks that I think would be too niche in the long run, especially when I want things like fences to get variants.
Crimson and Warped Caps
A rename for the Nether wart and warped wart blocks we already have. They’d be renamed to caps, because they’re part of the caps of Nether fungi. Functionality would remain the same.
Crimson and Warped Wart Blocks
These’d be textured differently from the caps to look more “pebbly”, I guess, to signify the individual warts making up the block. Both can be crafted with 9 of their corresponding warts, still.
Since they would no longer make up the caps of giant Nether fungi, they can be crafted back into 9 warts.
Nether Flower and Decorated Pots
I’ve seen a lot of people ask for colored pots, so this seems like the next best option. Clay and netherrack are the only items you need to first smelt into brick items before making individual brick blocks, so Mojang should embrace that and let us make pottery with both of them, giving us 2 pot colors.
The recipes would be as you’d expect.
https://preview.redd.it/v8r9rv87lu2d1.png?width=484&format=png&auto=webp&s=4059ec9994f232c68e209445ea4fe1c0d4cabd88
https://preview.redd.it/4xiv87b9lu2d1.png?width=484&format=png&auto=webp&s=e19a2613097861ea147e87f4134a5583c3fa7543
Nether decorated pots would be able to carry a stack of any one item, just like their Overworld counterparts. In my Nether archaeology post, I’ll go more in depth with my idea of Nether pottery sherds.
Withered Bone Block
Can be crafted with one bone block, and two coal, like this:
https://preview.redd.it/lgvatd7hlu2d1.png?width=484&format=png&auto=webp&s=d8771f0997bb9470ec332387737036d9dc87ba25
Can’t be crafted back into anything, since it’s made with two things. Wouldn’t have much use beyond being a black pillar block to go with Nether builds. Although, they will surround the base of Wither skeleton trial spawners.
More Magma Blocks
I don’t see these fitting into my fortress rework, but they’d be neat to have for players.
I’ll just list them off, because their recipes should be self-explanatory.
-Magma block stair
-Magma block slab
-Magma block wall
-Magma bricks
-Magma brick stair
-Magma brick slab
-Magma brick wall
-Chiseled magma brick (could maybe use a magma cube head in the middle)
Yes, these’d all still hurt you without the normal protections, and all full block variants would generate downward bubble columns.
General Structural Changes to Nether Fortresses
As I mentioned before, I want Nether fortresses to have trial spawners and vaults worked into them, But I've decided to keep the structure’s name the same to reference their castle-like build.
There’d still be both indoor and outdoor sections of the fortresses to explore, but perhaps with more unique rooms.
Also, you’ll now find two variants of fortresses: crimson fortresses made primarily of red Nether bricks, and warped fortresses made primarily of blue Nether bricks. Crimson fortresses can be found in Nether wastes and crimson forests, and warped fortresses can be found in soul sand valleys and warped forests. You could find neither in basalt deltas. Standard Nether brick would be used in these structures as an accent much like copper is used to accent tuff in trial chambers, mainly being used as a floor and ceiling material.
Mobs
According to the Wiki, 10 unique mobs spawn in trial chambers via trial spawners, or 11 if you count baby zombies. Other mobs also don’t spawn around trial chambers, regardless of light level, so I think fortresses should be treated the same.
Now, this does not mean a nearby ghast can’t attack you, but at least extra mobs won’t spawn inside the structure, unless they come from spawners.
So, here are my ideas for what could come out of trial spawners in fortresses: as well as a picture showing off what each of their spawner bases would look like. (Using Nether wart blocks as a replacement for chiseled red Nether bricks, bones with coal over them to represent my idea for Withered bones, and gray concrete to represent ash, a new block I’ll detail in my Nether archaeology post.)
Trial spawners are depicted as just the normal ones, since I didn’t feel like switching over to snapshots just for one picture.
https://preview.redd.it/6j14pgo9mu2d1.png?width=1308&format=png&auto=webp&s=ca2aba94d3f15eaeb15c2837114add8dc0ec43bf
Shnats
Yes, that last mob on the list is my own idea. Their name is meant to be a fusion of “ash gnat”. Here’s some rough concept art for what I imagine them looking like, beig roughly the size of chickens:
Would take on the shape of a square, unlike bees' more rectangular body
I’m only going to go over their attack methods here, because, in my Nether archaeology post, I want to detail the other main place (a new Nether biome) you can find them in, as well as their uses.
A shnat would fly about, much like a bee or ghast. When they spot you, they’ll chase you until they crash into you, or a wall, at which point, they’ll kamikaze into a plume of ash. (Kind of like how squid will ink you when attacked.) So, they’re kind of like creepers, but, instead of griefing nearby blocks, shnats will simply explode into an obtrusive particle effect. If they die by kamikaze, like creepers, they won’t drop anything, but they will of course do a bit of damage.
If you outrun a shnat while it’s chasing you, it’ll lose interest and go back to default, no longer homing in to kill itself.
Yes, gnats are arthropods, so shnats will be affected by bane of arthropods.
In fortresses, in order to get loot from shnat spawners, you have to kill all schnats normally, not letting any of them kamikaze. If any of them die by kamikaze, the trial spawner will spawn in a backup shnat until you can kill it properly.
Blaze and Wither Skeleton Rooms
At least one of these will spawn with every fortress, coming with one blaze or Wither skeleton spawner, as well as murals for the corresponding mobs.
Because trial spawners can only spawn in so many mobs at once, these rooms would contain normal, infinite mob spawners. That way, anyone that wants to make traditional farms for these two to grind on rods or skulls can do so.
Nether Decorated Pots
Can be occasionally found in some rooms in fortresses, regardless of the variant. Their faces will come with several sherds unique to fortresses.
-Inferno (depicts a blaze)
-Bushel (depicts a bundle of Nether wart)
-Boss (depicts the Wither)
As well as a Nether sherd equivalent of the burn (fire) sherd. In my Nether archaeology post, I’ll explain how both pot types will have unique sherds, but share sherds like the fire, heart, and potion sherds.
This’d also be a good way for them to add a new music disc (probably by Lena) that you’d need to break a pot to get.
Gardens
Relatively small indoor gardens/farms. Again, at least one would come in every fortress. Crimson fortress gardens would come with large crimson fungi and empty soul sand patches, and warped fortress gardens would come with large warped fungi and empty soul sand patches.
I should mention that I don’t want trial keys to be compatible with both chambers and fortresses. Otherwise, you could just go to a trial chamber to open fortress vaults, or vice versa.
Instead, here’s a quick mockup of fortress keys: normal and ominous. I recolored them to look like the main materials used in fortresses, like how trial keys look like they're made out of tuff and copper.
https://preview.redd.it/wtxppjxknu2d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=1aae896ebaba0e934f74d4b4d5ce0aca052a0bca
Gardens would come with one standard vault, which will always have a chance of giving you crimson or warped wart, depending on the fortress variant. The empty soul sand patches could then be where you try to grow Nether wart. I think soul torches or lanterns should spawn in the gardens, and a new feature should be added where Nether wart grows faster if next to a soul light source, maybe once every four blocks like with Overworld crops and water.
Also, Mojang should get rid of the chance of finding Nether wart in bastions to make fortresses a bit more unique.
Warped Wart
As already mentioned, can be found from opening vaults in gardens in warped fortresses.

Can be used to craft warped wart blocks or blue Nether bricks, but its main use would be to brew up a pugnacious potion.
A pugnacious potion acts like an awkward potion, but, instead of having a consistent status effect, any entity affected with an effect brewed with a pugnacious potion will do something upon death, or when hit.
1.21 is adding four of these already: weaving, wind charging, oozing, and infested. With pugnacious potions, you’d now need to brew up these four potions with a pugnacious potion, not an awkward potion.
To compensate, however, I say more “pugnacious effects” should be added.
Ominous Fortress Trials, and Pugnacious Effects
These’d work pretty similarly to ominous chamber trials. Zombified piglins, skeletons, and Wither skeletons will all get a chance of spawning with upgraded gear with trims (including some new ones) that you could find in fortresses, and random lingering potions will be thrown from spawners.
That includes some new ones that you can make yourself:
Fire Charged
Can be brewed with a blaze rod. When used, any mob with the effect that’s killed will produce a pile of fire in the nearby vicinity after they die.
Molten
Can be brewed with a chiseled magma brick. When used, any mob killed with the effect will spawn two medium magma cubes. Great for gathering froglights in the Overworld
And, some extra effects that wouldn’t spawn during fortress ominous trials, but may have interesting implications.
Blossoming
Can be brewed with a spore blossom. Upon death, a mob with this effect will produce a trailing particle effect that reaches to the ceiling directly above them, planting a spore blossom there. If the trail can't reach a ceiling (Ex: only the sky is above you), it'll drop the blossom on the ground as an item.
Like how weaving is the only way to reproduce cobwebs, this seems like an inteeresting option to renew spore blossoms.
Catalyzing
Can be brewed with a sculk catalyst. Any mob killed with the effect will drop no XP, instead leaving behind a pile of sculk, regardless of if there’s a catalyst nearby.
Other Loot Ideas
So, of course, fortresses would come with some of the “standard” unique loot:
-A new trim or two (one based off the blaze for sure, like how there’s going to be a breeze trim)
-1-3 new discs
-A new banner pattern or two (ones that depicts a flame, and another depicting a blaze)
-The warts that I already went over
But, I think more needs to be added than that, obviously. So, I’ll briefly go over some possible ideas.
Netherite Horse Armor
I'd love to credit the original maker of this sprite, but they deleted their Reddit account.
The “lazy” but obvious add to fortresses, and that should remain an exclusive drop to help them stick out from bastions. Maybe they’d be an ominous exclusive drop.
But, beyond that, why not rework horse armor entirely? Such as by:
-Giving it durability, making it work more like wolf or standard armor.
-Giving it the ability to be trimmed (using the same trim items for player armor)
-Giving you the ability to enchant it
I found that u/butdamnthisisbetter did a pretty great writeup of how horse armor enchantments should work, so I’m not even going to try to come up with better ideas when I agree with almost everything they’re saying:
https://www.reddit.com/minecraftsuggestions/comments/1cvr6xb/enchantable_horse_armo?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Only suggestion I’d add to that here is to add horse armor books to the fortress loot tables.
Golden Sledges
I just tweaked the golden hammer from the Fabric Hammers mod to have a crimson stick handle.
A new tool that can’t be crafted, like a trident. A golden mallet, pretty much, but I’m calling it a sledge to not have it be confused with the mace.
It’d be more common than the mace, but still be rather useful. It can be used to not break blocks, but rather “break down” blocks. My current ideas:
-Turns stone bricks into cracked stone bricks without needing a furnace
-Turns concrete back into concrete powder
Maybe adding this would open the doors for us to crack even more blocks, like regular clay bricks, ice, or glass?
Soul Pearls
Not an item exclusive to fortresses, but you could find them here, by bartering, or from “creating them” yourself.
As per my rough concept art here, they’d be Ender pearls covered in soul sand.
The soul sand buries the core/\"eye\" of the pearl.
My logic here is that mollusks produce pearls by “purifying” unwanted sand that gets into them. Considering shulkers already exist in the End, I am going to elaborate in my End biome write ups that I’d like the Ender pearl lore to be better established and traced back to mollusk mobs (including several new ones of mine), because I don’t see how Endermen produced them themselves.
Aside from fortresses and bartering, you can also get soul pearls from throwing an Ender pearl on a soul sand block. After 1 minute, it’ll convert to a soul pearl. This is to reference how real pearls can take up to a year to form, but still way more fair and fast for Minecraft.
When throwing a soul pearl, you’ll still get damaged, but, if you’re by any sculk items, you won’t cause vibrations. So, you can use them to occlude sculk while traversing the deep dark.
Admittedly, a niche use on its own, which is why I want them to replace Ender pearls in the eye of Ender recipe.
This would also entail a retexture of the eye of Ender, which I think should now incorporate a soul flame considering its new recipe.
Apologies if my eye of Ender retexture mockup is terrible. The eye's supposed to look like it's burning, like a mini soul flame sun.
Yes, that means End portal frames and Ender chests would need a retexture, too.
I think it’s a reasonable, realistic change that would help make progression more interesting. In retrospect, having magical fire power turn a pearl to an eye doesn’t make much sense, so having it burn souls into an eye at least sounds a morsel more interesting and realistic.
11 pages in my Google Docs on this. I should probably stop, but my next post will be on my ideas for Nether archaeology, and will have a link to this one.

I’m struggling to manage my hair postpartum. I feel like every aspect of my hair changed after the baby. Is denser, the curl pattern is tighter, it’s always been low porosity but it feel even lower now. I’m sitting here three hours post-wash and it’s still wet. I’m trying to let it dry with a styler in, so I can attempt a trim/haircut, but the longer it takes and the more humid it becomes under all this hair and all this weight, the most I just want to cut it off.
I’ve been wearing it in two-strand mini twists for six months and I’m sick of them. I’m tired of how long they take to install. I’m tired of needing help with my hair. I’m tired of detangling. I miss wash-and-gos. I miss being able to wear my hair out. I expected hair changes after pregnancy, but I definitely didn’t expect this.
I guess if anyone has advice for low-porosity, high density, tightly coiled, thick hair, please send it my way.
