2024.06.10 14:59 WildWillisWeasley "I’m a Democrat and I am here to save democracy.”

https://jonathanturley.org/2024/06/10/can-democracy-survive-the-defenders-of-democracy/
Article written by Jonathan Turley about the recent rhetoric coming from prominent Democrats. This topic is discussed by breaking points frequently related towards Trump and should be discussed towards Democrats as well
Ronald Reagan often said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” Today, Reagan’s line cannot compare with the line that sends many of us into a fetal position: “I’m a Democrat and I am here to save democracy.”
Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton insisted that the 2024 election was our D-Day, suggesting that voters would have to fight the GOP like the Nazis in World War II. Clinton previously called on Europe to censor American citizens when Twitter sought to dismantle its censorship program and called her defeat in the 2016 election “illegitimate.” Yet, for civil libertarians, the “defenders of democracy” are the very threat to democracy going into the 2024 election.
The jump scare claim is that unless citizens vote for us, the end of democracy will begin shortly. In 2022, House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) told “Fox News Sunday” that “democracy will be ending” if Democrats lost the midterms.
The rhetoric has continued to ramp up with the upcoming election.
From President Joe Biden to a host of progressive politicians and pundits, the 2024 election is all about saving democracy. The public has been told that if the Democrats lose power, citizens will be living in a tyrannical hellscape. Vice President Kamala Harris stated in one interview that 2024 “genuinely could be” the last democratic election in America’s history. Dozens of Democrats have said that democracy will end if Biden is not reelected.
The Washington Post even ran an op-ed titled, “A Trump dictatorship is increasingly inevitable. We should stop pretending.”
Many Americans have tuned out the overheated rhetoric, as shown by Donald Trump’s continuing lead in many polls even after his conviction in Manhattan. The warnings also ignore that our system has checks and balances that protected democracy for centuries as the world’s oldest and most successful constitutional system. These dire predictions would require all three branches to fail in an unprecedented fashion.
The most obvious threats today to the democratic system are coming from the left, not the right.
Democratic secretaries of state sought to block Trump from the ballot in 2024, and Democratic members sought to bar roughly 120 colleagues from their respective ballots. It seemed that the greatest threat to democracy was its exercise by voters. Fortunately, a unanimous Supreme Court rejected the theory and added, “Nothing in the Constitution requires that we endure such chaos.”
There has also been a push by Democrats to keep third-party candidates off ballots. Again, the last thing democracy needs is for voters to have more democratic choice.
In New York, Democratic congressional candidate Paula Collins even suggested that, after the election, the focus must be on “re-education” of MAGA voters, although she acknowledged that “that sounds like a rather, a re-education camp. I don’t think we really want to call it that. I’m sure we can find another way to phrase it.”
Democratic operatives are using the same rationalization to call for biased reporting to help Biden get reelected.
Democratic strategist James Carville this week demanded more “slanted” media coverage against Donald Trump to save democracy. Carville was triggered by New York Times editor Joe Kahn suggesting that the newspaper report the news in a fair and neutral manner. The suggestion sent many pundits into vapors at the very thought of reembracing objectivity in journalism.

The first Wall Street Breakfast edition of 2024 was called the Year Of The Election, and things are rapidly changing across the globe as investors edge closer to the middle of the year. Some recent political shake-ups have been seen in India, South Africa and Mexico, while things are starting to shift in Europe as well. U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has called a general election for July 4, while results are still being digested from the European Parliament elections over the weekend.
How it works: European parties are basically big tent movements, with national parties from the 27 EU member states teaming up to form seven major European political groups with representation based on population. It's a big deal as the 720 lawmakers in the European Parliament approve the union's budget, negotiate EU laws, and approve the President of the European Commission in a vote that will take place on July 8 (after all, it is the year of the election). The remaining 27 commissioners are chosen by their respective countries under the European Council, which sets the bloc's political agenda, and will be approved by yet another vote in parliament on Dec. 19.
The biggest gainers from the last election were the EPP, which will be the largest party in the parliament with a projected 189 seats, as well as the Identity and Democracy group, which are known for their nationalism and euroskepticism (and would've seen even bigger gains if Germany's AfD wasn't kicked out of the party several weeks ago). The biggest losers were the Greens, which champion environmental and climate protections, as well as Renew Europe, which is known for its pro-European and liberal stance. Looking at things on the political spectrum, the EU as a whole shifted more to the center-right, conservatives, and even the far-right, which can bring a major shift to the bloc.
Already happening? Immediately after the election, French President Emmanuel Macron called for a snap parliamentary election, while Belgian Prime Minister De Croo resigned following a heavy loss (there were also big gains for the right in Germany and Austria). At the EU level, centrist parties like the EPP, S&D and Renew Europe will still have the majority of seats in the European Parliament, so the current coalition will likely continue, but priorities could change due to growing influences elsewhere. Energy and agricultural policies have already come under pressure amid a cost-of-living crisis and weak economic growth, national defense spending will be notable due to migration fears and border security, while industrial policy is also in focus due to rising competitive measures in the United States and China. Take the WSB survey.
The AI game Apple (AAPL) will kick off its annual Worldwide Developers Conference today with a keynote address that is perhaps the tech giant's most widely anticipated speech since the iPhone was introduced nearly 17 years ago. While the event isn't usually a catalyst for the stock, the fact that the conference is likely to focus on Apple's generative artificial intelligence plans could prove significant for investors. An AI-based Siri upgrade, Apple's OpenAI partnership and new features that will allow users to run generative AI commands on the iPhone itself are anticipated to take the spotlight. Notably, Apple is not expected to unveil any new hardware at the event. (12 comments)
Activist Airlines Elliott Management has reportedly accumulated an almost $2B stake in Southwest Airlines (LUV) and plans to push for changes, although the exact details aren't known. The activist, who is expected to engage with top brass at Southwest, is one of the carrier's largest investors. The news sent shares of Southwest soaring 6% in premarket trading, but the stock has underperformed its rivals YTD, falling nearly 4%, compared to Delta's (DAL) 25% gain and a 28% rise by United (UAL). Southwest, once considered the most profitable American airline, suffered a wider-than-expected loss last quarter as operating expenses weighed on profitability. (12 comments)
Safety scandal Five Japanese automakers have been accused of falsifying safety test data when applying to certify certain models, in a scandal reminiscent of Volkswagen's (OTCPK:VWAGY) 2015 Dieselgate. Toyota (TM), Honda (HMC), Mazda (OTCPK:MZDAY), Suzuki (OTCPK:SZKMY) and Yamaha (OTCPK:YAMHF) were directed to suspend shipments of the models, sending their shares tumbling last week. Japan also raided Toyota's headquarters, dealing another blow to the automaker that is facing governance concerns as well as safety testing issues at its unit Daihatsu. While Dieselgate, which violated U.S. clean air laws, eventually led to $30B in fines and damages worldwide, the current scandal has fueled calls for a review of overly stringent rules.

2024.06.10 14:40 MajkiAyy Reader Base Hatred Towards the Genre

Every time I enter this subreddit, there is one post or another expressing such a visceral, scathing hatred towards either a specific, usually popular title or just a criticism directed at the whole genre itself. Then, you enter that post and see a whole cohort of similarly outraged commenters.
Seriously, at times, I almost feel like nobody hates progression fantasy/LitRPG as much as its reader base.
Naturally, this isn't true. These people are in the (very) vocal minority. Hell, this WHOLE SUBREDDIT is a relatively "vocal minority" of the whole reader base at large.
But vocal they are. People see this stuff. On a near-daily basis. And such opinions have a tendency to proliferate.
So for you, the angry poster whose fingers itch to inflict pain upon every book that disappoints you, I have a message.
Do these works deserve this sort of treatment?
Kind of, I guess.
The average writing quality within this genre isn't stellar. The authors are rarely good at characters and dialogue. A lot of the stuff that gets popular is wish fulfillment.
But this is a VERY new genre. Most of the work starts off as web novels. Many of the authors had never written ANYTHING before starting their journey as writers. And most importantly, as opposed to a more traditional approach of centering narratives around character-driven conflict, the works here are primarily power-driven.
Compare this to traditional fantasy, which has over a century of establishment under its belt, where the writing process is much slower, where the stories are drafted many times before being published, where the writers have a whole league of giants whose shoulders they can stand on, where most of the conflict is very much so driven by the characters, which makes good dialogue and characterization a pretty strict necessity, and very frequently, where the writers often come from a background in formal education in literature or language.
Look, I have absolutely no right to tell anyone what they should think, nor is it wrong to think negatively of this genre. But being so scathingly and openly... hateful about it...
It isn't right.
The authors don't deserve this.
These are impossible standards to inflict upon a crowd of amateurs treading rather new ground in literature.
And trust me, this doesn't make anyone motivated to improve. It just makes the people who are trying to improve feel like shit. You may call upon the card of "constructive criticism," but there is nothing constructive about vaguely shitting up and down everything that falls short in your eyes. That is just purely destructive.
If you really, truly can't handle reading another amateruish piece of work with poor characterisation, poor dialogue, and poor prose, here is a link to the list of Nobel Prize winners for literature.
I'm sure they'll please your insatiable apetite for good writing.

If you need to talk more about your difficulties and seek solutions, we suggest you speak to your sponsor and other members after the meeting.
*This is a literature meeting. Today we are studying the Big Book of Alcohol Anonymous page xxvii
I do not hold with those who believe that alcoholism is entirely a problem of mental control. I have had many men who had, for example, worked a period of months on some problem or business deal which was to be settled on a certain date, favorably to them. They took a drink a day or so prior to the date, and then the phenomenon of craving at once became paramount to all other interests so that the important appointment was not met. These men were not drinking to escape; they were drinking to overcome a craving beyond their mental control.
Closing By following the Twelve Steps, attending meetings regularly, and using the OA Tools, we are changing our lives. You will find hope and encouragement in Overeaters Anonymous. To the newcomer, we suggest attending at least six different meetings to learn the many ways OA can help you. The opinions expressed here today are those of individual OA members and do not represent OA as a whole. Let us all reach out by private message to newcomers, returning members, and each other. Together we get better.

GLAUCIA DELGADO

Gerdmans, Gibraltar to host exchange student from Brazil

By JANE SHEA
Glaucia Maria Soares Delgado, a resident of Volta Redonda, Brazil, will be spending the 1978-79 school year at Gibraltar high school. Arriving in August under the American Field Service exchange program, she will be living with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gerdman, Ephraim.
Glaucia, the second of six daughters, is interested in music, reading and tennis. She has studied piano for seven years and guitar for one year. When she finishes high school she plans to major in biology and chemistry. Her native language is Portuguese but she has studied both English and French.
Glaucia’s father, Plinio Delgado, is assistant to the general of purchases for a major Brazilian steel plant and he also teaches college English. He has a master’s degree in American literature from the University of Virginia. Glaucia’s mother. Marlene Soares Delgado, teaches high school English.
Volta Redonda, Glaucia‘s home community, is an industrial town in the Paraiba valley located about 40 miles from Rio. It has a steel plant and other small industries.
The Gerdmans, who are looking forward to the arrival of their guest, have a longtime interest in the AFS program. When they lived in Waukesha their neighbors were active in the program and had a daughter who went to Turkey as an exchange student. The Gerdmans and their daughters, Shelley and Diane, who were then in grade school, shared the stories about Turkey and became interested themselves.
When the AFS chapter was activated last year at Gibraltar they indicated their support. Their decision to apply for an exchange student was prompted by a desire to learn more about another country, and willingness to participate in the local program. Glenn is a junior high school mathematics instructor. Joyce is active in church and community affairs. Their two daughters, now college students, are looking forward to the arrival of their temporary sister.
Although the Gerdmans are unfamiliar with Portugese they are counting on the advance information that Glaucia’s parents are both English teachers. Glaucia says she doesn’t speak English very well but her hosts here figure this background will be enough to start with and she should be speaking Gibraltareze within a very short time.

growing up, my family called me fat a lot and it made me feel very resigned about my weight and appearance from an early age. when i look back, i realize that i wasn't even big at all. but i am now. after some personal traumatic events, along with my stress eating and the pandemic, i've completely lost myself. i'm 4'9 and somewhere along ~200 pounds. i'm terrified to weigh myself, but i think i will when i go to the gym today and will update the post. i'll post some updates with progress to hold myself accountable. please send me luck and even tough love :')
the plan:
  • i used to have a personal trainer, i'm confident in my form and ability to navigate a gym. will be doing full body workouts for a few days to get my body moving again and i'll make a specific split and plan in a bit.
  • walk more!!!!!! might have to get a fitbit to track my steps.
  • i will try some new forms of movement -- yoga, pilates, barre, etc. i've always wanted to try something like kickboxing or martial arts based, but i am scared and i feel like that's not even an option given where i am right now.
  • going to cook more, build a recipe book and lean on soylent :')
this is definitely not a good or comprehensive plan, but i'll do more research and appreciate words of advice. heck, even roast me. i could do with the motivation.

2024.06.10 14:24 PleaseCallMeTall “Water From Horses”: an excerpt from the full-length book I’ve been writing for the better part of a year.

I’ll never forget the first time I borrowed a day’s rations from a horse. I had a good ride on the sheltered side of my car, grateful for once to not have to ride dirty face. An unfortunate misadventure the day before had led three other people I was riding with to get left behind, so I was alone and had the whole porch to myself. This was somewhere in either Utah or Wyoming, there weren’t any water towers or other signs to tell me exactly where I was at the time.
I was headed in the right direction under good weather, and I looked forward to reaching the end of the line in Chicago. The only problem was that my jug and all my canteens were nearly empty. By my reckoning, the next significant stop on this line wouldn’t be until somewhere in Iowa, easily another full day’s ride over desolate, wide-open terrain. I needed to find a source of drinkable water soon or else I’d be forced to abandon my train and hitchhike to civilization.
I was riding an IM, but we must have been relatively low priority because we kept stopping to let other trains pass us at sidings. These stops made the water problem worse because I was forced to lay prone on the porch to stay out of sight. The full blazing sun overhead made the steel hot, and it baked me where I lay every time my train sided out to wait for her sisters to thunder past us. There was some relief while we were rolling because the moving air was cooler and I could sit in the small sliver of shade provided by the double-stacked shipping containers that accompanied me on my car.
The wind whipped the black nylon shoulder strap of my last canteen as I drained it. I closed the plastic screw cap, swallowed the final tepid mouthful, and thought about what to do. Even though I already knew what I would find, I dug around in my pack and pulled out all the food I had left. Three flour tortillas, about five ounces of peanut butter, half a dozen whole carrots, and a small package of quick oats. There would be some moisture in the carrots, but not enough to get me through the night and another full day.
If I’d known for certain that I’d be delivered directly to civilization within the next 24 hours, I could have toughed it out and just waited. The problem was that I didn’t know exactly which train this was, only which direction it was going when it left the yard in Sparks, Nevada. We might end up sitting somewhere up in the mountains for hours, we might divert to some facility or location that I didn’t know about. A mechanical failure might lead to a string of cars getting left behind to be reclaimed hours or days later. I might get spotted and pulled off the train by police, left to make my way on foot in the middle of nowhere. There were possible scenarios that made dehydration a life-threatening factor out here.
The fact that I faced this scenario didn’t come as a surprise to me, it was always like this, always that risk of getting stranded or detoured. I felt foolish though for not being prepared, for falling into this most simple and basic trap of too little water. I thought back to the gas station in Roseville, CA where I’d last replenished my supplies. It would have been easy to just spend two bucks on another gallon jug and strap it to my pack. The extra weight would have made the long walk to the hopout suck that much more, but I knew this route and I should have known better than to approach such a long hop with inadequate supplies.
I snapped a carrot in half and chomped a bite from it before stashing the rest of the food back down in the bottom of my pack. Whatever decision I made, I would have to wait until we stopped again or at least until we slowed down enough that I could dismount on-the-fly. The landscape around me was mostly rolling sheets of yellowish grass extending far off toward distant Rocky Mountain peaks. Other than the railroad itself, any signs of human progress were rare, and usually limited to industrial infrastructure like cell towers or solar panels in the distance. I could see a road about two miles away running roughly parallel to my train line. It was hard to make out individual vehicles from here, but there was some hazy movement that looked like traffic.
I came up with a plan and repeated it to myself internally, reinforcing my logical rules so that I’d act on them correctly when I was under duress. The next time my train stopped, I would hope and pray that it was miraculously near some good source of water. In the likely event that it didn’t, I would dismount, bring my gear with me, and run back towards the rear of the train. There was probably close to half a mile of train still behind me, and though I hadn’t seen the end of it myself, I figured there may be a slave unit back there. If that unit happened to have its doors unlocked, and I was fast enough to get back there before the train left me, I had a chance. The door should lead to an empty, uncrewed cab which would likely be stocked with dozens of unopened disposable water bottles. If the train left me behind, the unit’s doors were locked, or there weren’t any pusher units to be found, I would just have to walk toward that road and thumb it out.
It was hard to accept this decision. Walking away from a perfectly good train is something that no rider wants to do. It can be so arduous and difficult just to get a ride in the first place, the though of giving one up willingly is hard to fathom. I had to remind myself that I’d experienced dangerous thirst before and vowed to never again let myself get close to that terrible death. Even just being dehydrated for a few hours, I knew, caused me to think more slowly, react more sluggishly, and make bad decisions more easily. I had been lazy and foolish in bringing too little water in the first place, now I might have to pay for it by watching my train leave me behind. I had noone to blame but myself.
As I was sitting there battling internally to force logic down my own throat, I looked over the side of the train and noticed something up ahead of us to the southeast. Cows stood in a pasture, fenced in by barbed wire between ancient-looking wooden posts. This was a new feature in the otherwise empty landscape. At the same moment that my mind began to grasp the meaning of this new development, a telltale jerking clatter told me that we were slowing down. When the deceleration continued, I realized we were stopping, probably siding out. Sure enough, another set of tracks appeared directly beside ours. We continued decelerating. I peered toward the livestock and saw a separate pasture with four or five chestnut brown horses grazing within it. That was where I spotted the item I’d been hoping for: a water trough for the animals.
My hands were quick and busy as the train gave a stronger lurch of deceleration. I was disconnecting and separating all of my water containers from the rest of my gear. Before we came to a complete stop, I was already climbing down the ladder. I gently landed on the ground at a walking pace and my next two steps instinctively took me away from the train, clearing myself and my gear from the deadly steel wheels. I walked about another hundred feet alongside the train, keeping up with it and staying abreast the car I’d been riding. There were suicides and other lousy rides aboard this train, and I wanted my car back if I could get it.
As soon as the thing came to a stop, I dropped all of my gear except for the jug and canteens and then took off at a dead run toward the pasture. It was further than it looked across the open ground. I was light on my feet, picking my footsteps carefully, scanning the uneven ground with animal focus as I went. Dry yellow straw crunched under my boots, the empty water containers bounced and jostled around in my hands. I had to consciously pull my lungs down into measured breaths in rhythm with my bounding strides.
My heart was pumping in my ears as I approached the fence. I glanced behind me to see that my train was still there. The other train was already passing it going the opposite direction. I thought to myself that I’d made the right decision leaving my pack there on the ground. It would have been truly disastrous if my train left me behind and took my gear with it as it went. I’d heard of it happening to others. I was safe from that fate, but it would be far better if I could refil here and get back aboard. I’d have to hurry.
Was trying not to be frantic as I scanned the fence line. My eyes had to gather a lot of information all at once. I was looking out for vehicles or figures that betrayed the presence of any farmer who might object to me sprinting toward their livestock. I had an eye on the horses themselves. They were trotting around at the other end of the pastuer, kicking up dust and tossing their heads and tails about in a flowing display of red-brown hair. Whether they were perturbed by me, the trains, or just horses being horses, I couldn’t tell.
Just inside their pen I spotted an oval-shaped corrugated tub about twice the size of a bathtub with sides that came up to my knee. When I approached it to investigate there was about 18 inches of water in the trough, but it was dark green and slimy with the residue of dusty, alfalfa-fed horses drinking deeply from the depths. Another glance back at the trains showed that mine was still stopped and the oncoming one was still passing.
I shuffled a few yards along the fence and spotted another trough, this one was circular, about 6 feet across. What I was really looking for sat sticking out of a fence post, attached by bailing wire and several zip ties. It was a simple spigot faucet with a little T-shaped handle. I leaned in over the barbed wire and turned the old dusty, cobwebbed contraption. To my surprise, it turned easily and freely as if it had been recently greased. A strong blast of rushing water violently spurted from the faucet and into the trough, occasionally interrupted by the coughing sputter or air leaving the line. I left it running and bent down to uncap my jug. I held the old gallon milk jug there under the flow of water with one hand and uncapped my next canteen with the other. In quick succession, all the vessels were filled and their caps tightly screwed back on. I turned the faucet handle clockwise with a squeak and silenced the flow of water.
One more glance around, noone watching besides a couple of curious black cows. I whipped my head around to the train to see that her sister had finished passing. I bent down to gather up the now heavy collection water vessels and began walking back. About halfway across the field, I heard the soft hissing followed by the tick tick tick tick of air brakes opening up. My train was about to leave. These IM’s were infamous for accelerating quickly, often taking off with little warning. Keith a jolt, I began to run at a maddening pace back toward the rails. Somewhere in the open stretch of dead grass, my food caught on the hidden remnants of a half-buried old tire. I caught myself but dropped one of my canteens. I stopped to pick it up and heard the terrifying staggered thunder clap of slack being pulled out of the train. She was moving.
I didn’t know if I could make this. By the time I lept over a small ditch and onto the ballast gravel that lined the tracks, my the train had already pulled forward nearly half a car length from where I had left my backpack. In a desperate effort of awkward straining, I managed to transfer all of the water containers into the grip of my left arm. I bent down without stopping and grabbed my backpack and saxophone case with my right hand.
The train was accelerating. I made the split-second decision to give up my cushy sheltered porch and take the dirty face side of my car since it was about 50 feet closer to me at this point. I would have trotted up next to the moving behemoth immediately, but there was a stack of old railroad tie plates that I had to run around to avoid tripping. My muscles were screaming with the exertion. I managed to swing my left arm up and clumsily deposit all my water containers up onto the porch as I ran along side it. Then with my newly freed arm, I threw my backpack aboard, hefted my saxophone case onto my shoulder by its strap, grabbed the ladder with both hands, and hopped up onto my ride.
There was a solid shunting motion as the train continued accelerating. I corralled my scattered gear and sat down, still catching my breath. As we picked up speed and the landscape began to move past me once again, I peeked around the corner of my shipping container back rest and got one last glance at the corral. The distant figures of the horses had settled down and bowed their heads to munch on scrubby tufts of mountain grass. I opened a canteen and pulled deeply, gulping good, cold water. The adrenaline slowly faded and left me with a renewed sense of relief, peace, and gratitude.

Template to Congress: The problem lies in having the wrong people in charge of this information.
Dear [Congressperson's Name],
I am writing to express my deep concern about the ongoing disinformation campaign surrounding UFOs and the critical information that has been kept secret for nearly a century.
By withholding this knowledge from the public, we have missed out on the cumulative advancements that come from one innovation building upon another.
Over the past 100 years, countless scientific and technological breakthroughs could have been achieved, leading to significant societal progress.
The problem lies in having the wrong people in charge of this information.
The lack of transparency and accountability has hindered our collective potential. The American people deserve the opportunity to utilize our resources and brainpower to explore these phenomena fully. The opportunity cost of maintaining these secrets is immeasurable, and it is time for accountability and full disclosure. Only then can we begin to recover the lost potential and move forward with the knowledge we should have had all along.

2024.06.10 13:44 Crazerz Letter to Shareholders From CEO Tim Young

June 10, 2024 Dear SunHydrogen shareholders and supporters, Since filing our first patent in November of 2011, we have worked steadfastly to bring our nanoparticle-based solar water-splitting technology to market and make low-cost, truly green hydrogen a reality worldwide. In the years since, we have made significant progress toward our goal: We have amassed multiple international patents, engaged numerous industrial partners at the cutting edge of our field, and navigated many challenges. We believe our methodology for this completely homegrown multi-junction semiconductor will be the holy grail of green hydrogen production, and we are committed to making it happen: Most recently, we have worked diligently to translate our lab-scale success to commercial scale with our partner COTEC of South Korea, a world leader in industrial electroplating and electrochemical processes, as well as with several German companies and institutions through Project NanoPEC. In the simplest terms, our nanoparticle technology involves depositing billions of microscopic multi-junction solar cells with catalysts, each able to efficiently split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. The goal is not only to scale this system to the size of today’s traditional solar panels, but to do so at a cost that is competitive with the highly pollutive natural gas-derived hydrogen used in the fertilizer, gas refining, and steel manufacturing industries. Furthermore, when integrated with fuel cell technology, renewable hydrogen from companies like SunHydrogen will one day be competitive with fossil fuel powered cars, buses, trains, and ships that dominate today’s mobility market. As evidenced by the number of years our efforts have required, this methodology presents challenges and requires patience, but its merits in efficiency and economics demand that we continue pushing forward to make it a reality. Approximately 18 months ago, we began developing a strategy we believed could bring us to market faster. This system utilizes commercially available and mass-produced thin film solar cells and modules which are re-engineered with our proprietary hydrogen module design to provide fault tolerance and improve hydrogen production efficiency. While this strategy operates on principles very similar to our nanoparticle technology, it benefits from a mature manufacturing platform, enabling earlier market entry. Through an introduction from scientific adviser Dr. Arthur Nozik, we collaborated with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, CO to measure the efficacy of this method. Over the past year, we have been working with a global innovator of thin film solar cell modules to minimize changes to the existing mass manufacturing process for electricity-producing modules so we can instead produce hydrogen-generation modules. These modules can be easily scaled into hydrogen producing-arrays, similar to the size of existing solar arrays you see on rooftops and solar farms around the world. They have also proven to be 98% recyclable after their expected lifetime of 20 years. Visit our YouTube channel to view our first demonstration video outside the SunHydrogen laboratory in Coralville, Iowa.We will soon be demonstrating this new green hydrogen production technology integrated into our housing reactors. We are working with top scientists and industrial partners to bring this to market, first in pilot scale and then onto full manufacturing. As we share more information and milestones with you, I’d like to reiterate that we are fully committed to our patented nanoparticle approach to green hydrogen: This is simply the introduction of a new methodology that bears many similarities to our nanoparticle technology while benefiting from an already mature manufacturing platform. Our primary goal has always been to replace fossil fuel-derived hydrogen with truly green hydrogen, and if we believe there is a way for us to more quickly achieve this goal and enter the market, we feel it is in our shareholders’ interest to use our existing foundation and breadth of knowledge to do so. Thank you very much for your support and patience. Sincerely, Timothy Young, CEO SunHydrogen, Inc.
About SunHydrogen, Inc. SunHydrogen is developing breakthrough technologies to make, store and use green hydrogen in a market that Goldman Sachs estimates to be worth $12 trillion by 2050. Our patented SunHydrogen Panel technology, currently in development, uses sunlight and any source of water to produce low-cost green hydrogen. Similar to solar panels that produce electricity, our SunHydrogen Panels will produce green hydrogen. Our vision is to become a major technology supplier in the new hydrogen economy. By developing, acquiring and partnering with other critical technologies, we intend to enable a future of emission-free vehicles, ships, data centers, aircrafts and more. 2024.06.10 13:29 officialsiem Update #1 - Help - Building a Tool Connecting Blender Geo Nodes with Godot

Update #1 - Help - Building a Tool Connecting Blender Geo Nodes with Godot
Original Post
Recap of Last Week, Basically, Life Said I Had Other Plans
Good Morning Godot fans,
How are you all! Hope life's good as the summer season begins- regardless of how your weather is changing, ya'll posting in here brightens my day!
On that note, what didn't brighten my day, was how last week I failed to do any research.
What was supposed to be an easy transition from moving to one apartment to another, became a hydra. One issue resolves, for three more independent issues to take its place. At this time, that's as much as I'd like to divulge regarding my personal life here. But, I hope in the future I'll get more comfortable sharing anything more.
So how do we move forward?
Easy. "Fall down seven times, get up eight." A bit of structure is also in order, so:
  1. Every future update goes up Monday morning, around 4am PST/11am UTC.
    • It just easier for me to post, holds me a bit more accountable too.
  2. Each update will be broken down into the following categories:
    • TLDR - Up, Front, and Easy to Digest so you could get along with your day.
    • Highlights - What was great about progress/work that week. Are there any users, people, or organizations I want to shoutout!
    • Lowlights - How bad its getting, any struggles I'm facing development wise or in general that is hindering progress towards a goal. is the Hydra back?
    • KPI - What/How I'm measuring success. Am I crossing boxes on a checklist, reaching a certain number of minutes worked? Measuring the gap AND the growth towards a goal is just vital for project management, and helps ascertain whether I'm making actual progress or idle movement towards a goal.
    • Asks - This is where I ping ya'll for help. Whether its something I need feedback on, or a connection to another person. At the very end, I'll be upfront on what I need to succeed? In fact, This is what I do at the end of the session, last last post, I asked if anyone knew folks I could connect with who's made similar tools. And thankfully, a dev DID reach out! So thanks for last week's intro folks!
So, this week my goals are:
  • Creating a Public Google Sheet/Slide with Progress Reports. In the spirit of being/working on open-source tools, I'll create an open-source document you can peer at and see the progress I'm making.
  • Networking I have one dev interview lined up, and I'm looking for my developers who've built dev tools for the Godot Engine or a pipeline tool connecting Blender to- well anything outside of Blender really.
And that's it. I'm working and managing a few other tasks congruently to building the Blender-GeoNode-To-Godot tool. All of which, I hope will aid me in my own personal goals- like I'm into a concept called Transmedia - how stories we tell now are...
"constructed using transmedia logics: played out through multiple platforms and channels, using digital technologies that allow multiple audiences to share a storyspace, an imagination space, and make it their own. (Finn It's all transmedia now - pop junctions)
And having as many tools as possible to share and tell a story, is just as important as the story itself.
Thanks for reading folks, see ya next week!

2024.06.10 13:27 ArmyOfMemories The ADL is an anti-Palestinian hate group that promotes 'replacement theory' in Israel while condemning it in America.

Thesis

Sources:

Elaboration

The ADL promotes 'replacement theory' in Israel, while condemning it in America.
Awhile back, the ADL put out a hasbara handbook - a guide to advocating for Israel.
In the handbook, on pages 59-60, the ADL espouses views that are word-for-word taken from 'replacement theory'.
Excerpt:
A bi-national state, in principle and in practice, would mean the ideological end of the Jewish State of Israel and lead to the forsaking of Jewish nationalism and identity, along with its special status as a refuge for Jews fleeing persecution.
Furthermore, bi-nationalism is unworkable given current realities and historic animosities. With historically high birth rates among the Palestinians, and a possible influx of Palestinian refugees and their descendants now living around the world, Jews would quickly be a minority within a bi-national state, thus likely ending any semblance of equal representation and protections. In this situation, the Jewish population would be increasingly politically – and potentially physically – vulnerable.
It is unrealistic and unacceptable to expect the State of Israel to voluntarily subvert its own sovereign existence and nationalist identity and become a vulnerable minority within what was once its own territory.
  • Alarmism about 'birth rates' = ✅
  • Alarmism about immigration = ✅
  • Alarmism about the demographic majority becoming a minority and losing its privileged status = ✅
  • Equating the privilege of being a demographic majority with 'sovereign existence' (which in-turn negates the existence and/or concerns, agency, progress, etc. of the Out-group) = ✅
All of this is typical 'replacement theory' talking-points.
A commentator on Twitter points out that the ADL uses the same rhetoric as American and European ultra-nationalists, who fear-monger about PoC and immigrants.

The interplay between right-wing nationalism & support for Israel

The ADL's primary purpose now is to defend Israel's apartheid regime.
Note how Rep. Stefanik is pictured in the ADL tweet. She is the one leading the charge right now with these public antisemitism inquisitions of college administrators.
Right-wing nationalists support Israel because they want to emulate Israel's policies towards Palestinians (as a stand-in for immigrants, PoC, leftists, etc.).
A study on European antisemitism found that xenophobes (who rated higher in antisemitism) tend to support Israel due to its immigration policies. Whereas those critical of Israeli policy were less xenophobic & less antisemitic.
Since Zionism is a form of cult-like nationalism, it's no surprise that the ADL would adopt 'replacement theory' talking-points when discussing their concerns about the political agency of the Jewish demographic majority in Israel.
In order to maintain that demographic majority, Israel uses discriminatory legislation & enormous State violence.
A lot of Zionists obfuscate what Zionism means now (for all practical purposes) by signaling some support/empathy for Palestinians. So the primary question one must ask, is whether you support a Jewish demographic majority in Israel.
If the answer is 'yes' - then you're justifying massive discrimination & violence against the Palestinian out-group. It no longer matters what games one plays with the 'definition' of 'Zionist'.
Get straight to the functional point. Are you morally consistent?

The ADL, Mike Pompeo, and the Jewish National Fund

Peter Beinart, in a discussion with FMEP's Lara Friedman & political strategist Rania Batrice, talks about how the ADL supports discriminatory policies in Israel that it would never support in America.
Peter notes that Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the ADL, has to 'code-switch' when advocating for Israel, for this very reason. Whereas, someone like Mike Pompeo, who is also a cultish nationalist, is more forthcoming in what he wants for America (a Christian nationalist State).
For Pompeo, it's perfectly fine to support an analog to the Jewish National Fund (JNF) in America (ie a hypothetical Christian National Fund; an organization that would support land access/development for Christians only). Greenblatt would lose his mind if a CNF existed in America - but he won't propose abolishing the JNF in Israel.
In Israel, the government controls 93 percent of the land¹ - directly or indirectly through quasi-governmental bodies like the Development Authority (DA) or the JNF. But all of it is administered by a governmental body, the Israel Land Administration (ILA).
The JNF's mandate is to develop land folease land to Israeli Jews, so 13% of the land in Israel excludes Palestinian citizens of Israel & everyone else. Thus, when the ILA tenders a lease owned by the JNF, they are directly complicit in "outright discrimination".²
  1. The Israel Land Administration
  2. Human Rights Watch - Off the Map: Land and Housing Rights Violations in Israel’s Unrecognized Bedouin Villages
  3. Human Rights Watch - Israel: Discriminatory Land Policies Hem in Palestinians
Israeli historian at Tel Aviv University, Prof. Gadi Algazi, explains how the Ben-Gurion utilized the 1949 Absentee Property Law to facilitate the JNF acquiring stolen Palestinian land.
Ben-Gurion circumvented any future international legal intervention by 'selling' (absolutely illegally) the land entrusted to the custodians (Ben-Gurion appointed Israel the custodians of the stolen Palestinian land following the 48' War) to the JNF so that Israel, in the case of an international debate, could say 'sorry, it's not in my hands anymore'. Within days, about a million dunams (1M dunams = about 250K acres) of land were sold for a price well below their value to the JNF. Another million would be sold later on.
Then-Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion appointed the Israeli government as custodian of the land and then sold 250,000 acres to the Jewish National Fund. The problem of the Arab refugees was forgotten in the main despite the United Nations trying to resolve it. Ben-Gurion thought that time would eventually solve the problem. The abandoned village land and houses were given to Israeli soldiers so Arabs couldn’t return.
Some speculate the JNF never even paid for the land. Instead, the Israeli government agreed to subsidize the purchase in exchange for assurances the land would be set aside for Jewish settlement.
But the Israeli cabinet ordered the JNF to stop all efforts at buying land from Palestinians directly, and the men returned to Israel.144 Ben Gurion told Weitz and Danin in December 1948 that “The JNF would buy land only from the State. There was no need to buy land from Arabs.”145
[...]One month after Ben Gurion told Weitz that the JNF should buy land only from the state, the two sides finally concluded a major deal by which the JNF would purchase a huge amount of refugee land in January 1949. Despite his mistrust of sharing power with the JNF, Ben Gurion had long wanted to sell captured Palestinian land to the JNF. In fact as early as May 13, 1948, the day before he publicly read Israel’s declaration of independence, Ben Gurion offered to sell a massive 2 million dunums of land to the JNF for £P0.5/dunum. He was trying to sell land he did not yet control to raise money for arms.
  • Fischbach, Michael. Records of Dispossession (Institute for Palestine Studies Series) (pp. 61-63). Columbia University Press. Kindle Edition.
The deal involving the so-called “second million” dunums was finalized on October 4, 1950, and involved the transfer of an additional 1,271,734 dunums by the Custodian of Absentee Property on behalf of the Development Authority to the JNF, 99.8 percent of which (1,271,480 dunums) was rural land. Granott later placed the amount at 1,278,200 dunums. The amount of £I66 million was to be paid to the government over a ten year period. Some sources indicate that the JNF was actually to turn the money over to the Jewish Agency on the government’s behalf; the amount then would be considered a loan by the government to the JA. Others claim that the JNF never actually paid the amounts it owed under the two deals.163
  • Fischbach, Michael. Records of Dispossession (Institute for Palestine Studies Series) (pp. 65-66). Columbia University Press. Kindle Edition.
Thus, Israel confiscated Palestinian land and held it in trust - only to sell it to an organization that would only allow the land to be used (sold/leased/etc.) by Jewish people only.
The JNF faced no such obstacles and was free to discriminate against Arabs in favor of Jews. Its charter mandated that all land that it purchased thereafter would be inalienable, to be held by the JNF on behalf of the Jewish people in perpetuity. Because the JNF could not sell land it acquired, it leased land to Jewish settlements and individual Jews on the condition that it not be re-let to non-Jews and that only Jewish labor be used on the land—the policy of “Hebrew labor” [Heb.: ‘avoda ‘ivrit]. Thus as a nongovernmental organization free to manage its own land on an exclusivist basis within the new state, the JNF argued for its control of refugee land on this ideological base: if the JNF obtains the land, it will be the best way to guarantee that it is used for Jewish settlement only. This attitude was expressed by a JNF official at the 23rd congress of the World Zionist Organization held in 1951, the fiftieth anniversary of the JNF’s establishment, who stated that the JNF “will redeem the lands and will turn them over to the Jewish people—to the people and not the state, which in the current composition of population cannot be an adequate guarantor of Jewish ownership” [emphases in the original].
  • Fischbach, Michael. Records of Dispossession (Institute for Palestine Studies Series) (pp. 59-60). Columbia University Press. Kindle Edition.
It's important to note that all throughout the history of the JNF, its officials openly talked about dispossessing the Palestinian people and taking their land.
In Records of Dispossession, Michael Fischback writes about the culpability of Zionist organizations in the expulsion of the Palestinian people - and singles out one important figure, Yosef Weitz of the JNF.
The question of to what degree Jewish authorities deliberately expelled Palestinians is a hotly contested one.13 For many historians of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the issue comes down to whether Zionist authorities ordered the deliberate expulsion of the Palestinians according to a master plan of ethnic cleansing. It is beyond dispute that some expulsions occurred as it is that, even before the fighting began, various figures in the Zionist movement were actively investigating the idea of what they euphemistically called “transferring” the Palestinians out of the country. One such person was Yosef Weitz of the Jewish National Fund [Heb.: Keren Kayemet le-Yisra’el]. Weitz was born in Russia in 1890 and immigrated to Ottoman Palestine in 1908. He began working for the Jewish National Fund (JNF) in 1918. The JNF was established by the World Zionist Organization [Heb.: ha-Histadrut ha-Tsiyonit; later, ha-Histadrut ha-Tsiyonit ha-‘Olamit] in December 1901 to acquire land in Ottoman Syria for the establishment of a Jewish state. It acquired its first land in Palestine in 1904. In 1907, the JNF was incorporated in London as the Jewish National Fund, Ltd., although its offices were located on the continent and moved several times over the decades. Starting in 1932, Weitz had risen to serve as the director of the JNF’s Land Development Division. He was also involved in the establishment of the Histadrut, the all-encompassing Zionist labor federation.
  • Fischbach, Michael. Records of Dispossession (Institute for Palestine Studies Series) (pp. 4-5). Columbia University Press. Kindle Edition.
Weitz countered with a hard-line vision of transferring the Palestinians completely out of the country. He detailed his ideas in his diary:
It should be clear to us that there is no room in Palestine for these two peoples. No “development” will bring us to our goal of independent nationhood in this small country. Without the Arabs, the land will become wide and spacious for us; with the Arabs, the land will remain sparse and cramped . . . . The only solution is Palestine, at least Western Palestine [i.e., Palestine without Transjordan], without Arabs. There is no room here for compromises!14
Weitz and Lifshits agreed to try to work toward this goal. In fact, in 1948 they served together on a committee that investigated transfer (see below). When the fighting broke out in 1948, Weitz believed that it provided a golden opportunity to effect such a transfer. By the spring of that year, thousands of Palestinians were already in flight and leaving behind large stretches of land. For Weitz, the proper course of action was simple: prevent their return and take over their land. On May 20, 1948, Weitz noted in his diary that the refugee flight would create “a complete territorial revolution . . . . The State is destined to expropriate . . . their land.” 15 Once the fighting was underway, he would move to realize this.

The ADL's history of anti-Palestine activism: the spying case

Historically, the ADL surveilled Arab-American and Jewish-American activists who were sympathetic to the Palestinian struggle.
Excerpt, from a JTA (2002) article on the ADL spying on anti-Zionist Jewish-Americans:
Both sides had filed appeals in July when a San Francisco Superior Court judge dismissed the cases of plaintiffs Anne Poirier and Steven Zeltzer, but not that of Jefferey Blankfort, who claimed the ADL obtained his Social Security number "for nonjournalistic purposes." Because the settlement took place before the appeals came though, the ADL agreed to compensate all three.
Blankfort explains the court case:
In earlier decades, the ADL put out dossiers on pro-Palestine activism with titles like, 'Target U.S.A: The Arab Propaganda Offensive' (1975).
News article coverage from that time, reporting on then-director of the ADL Jerome Bakst's speaking engagement in town.
In the present, the ADL still keeps tabs on pro-Palestine activism & activists like Mohammed El-Kurd.
With so many more Zionist groups now, the ADL no longer has to be a one-stop-shop for all things Israel advocacy. They no longer need to spy on Americans when plenty of other organizations do. They no longer have to profile people, because other Zionist groups like Canary Mission do.
So while the ADL isn't outright spying people as it did years ago, it's not out of some moral shift. It's because they no longer have to.

The following is a summary of this interesting book. Obviously this is spoiler heavy, so if you are planning to read his book, you might want to skip this post and come back later to add your own thoughts.

Introduction

The sources for the book are a handful of abductees Jacobs worked with. Sometimes their testimony comes from hypnosis sessions, other times the abductee remembers the details directly. Some abductees appear to have been chosen for ongoing contact with the aliens, and have been to and worked on rather worrying stuff.

These guys look like a human sized preying Mantis, and seem to be the top of the alien hierarchy. If there's anything above them, its not mentioned here. They appear in the book only a handful of times, and are always in charge of the other aliens. They appear to have either created or enslaved the other alien races. Psionic Strength: Very High.
Greys
Classic Greys feature heavily, both the taller variety (about 5-6 feet tall) and the short ones (3-4 feet tall). The short ones do general work like cleaning up during abductions, the taller ones tend to do the physical examinations, implants etc.
Psionic Strength: High.
Human/Grey Hybrids (Hubrids)
Hybrids come in a few varieties, earlier versions are more Grey-like and couldn't pass for humans, big heads and big eyes etc. But the aliens appear to have gone through a couple of generations and now create hybrids which looks totally human, but still possess the alien psionic abilities like telepathy and mind control. Jacobs calls these human-looking hybrids 'Hubrids' and its these Hubrids which seem the key to the alien plans. Hybrids are created on board the larger UFOs and spend their lives on board, up until about the age of 20 when they are dispatched to live on Earth, more on that later.
They come across as 'weird' and are very logical and goal orientated. They are learning to simulate social skills. They communicate between themselves telepathically.
Psionic Strength: High.
Abductees
Humans who have been abducted by aliens. This seem to start in childhood, and some abductees only have one experience then get left alone, whilst others are abducted repeatedly and, in the case of the people featured in this book, contacted by the aliens and given tasks. These abductees are also trained in Psionic abilities, and progress surprisingly rapidly with the help of groups of hybrids. One abductee mentions several times that she wonders if she is betraying the human race by helping the alien program, but is constantly assured by the aliens that this is all necessary for both species.
Psionic Strength: Low to Medium, depending on training.

Abductees Helping Hybrids

Abductees are contacted by small group of Hubrids and asked to assist with their plans. These groups are 4-6 individuals, and the abductees are asked to teach them skills and help them blend into human society. They live together in houses, its not clear how this is arranged or paid for. Each group includes an 'Enforcer' who oversees the group, keeps them out of trouble, and ensures the abductee is being helpful. Some things the abductees were asked to help with include:
The abductees often get frustrated with the hybrids, growing frustrated with all their questions about everything (they said they are like 5 year olds asking constant questions) and even at one point calling them 'thick' and wondering how they know so little about everything. One asked about instructional videos like you can find on YouTube, but giving them unfettered access to our internet is apparently off the table.
All of the help the abductees were asked to provide to the hybrids is around being able to blend into human society.
This all reminded me of the communist training camps the USSR operated during the Cold War, where Russian agents were taught to speak American with no trace of an accent, and taught about popular culture like music artists and politics so they could blend in seamlessly.
At once point, an abductee is taken on board a large UFO and enters a 'conference room' where hybrids are standing around dressed in business clothes, sipping water and chatting. She is asked if they look and act like humans, and admits they do. She meets several hybrids she has worked with over the past few years, and she is once again thanked for her efforts and told how important all this is. The meeting concludes with a speech from a Mantid who seems very proud of them all.

Hybrids Helping Abductees

Later in the book, abductees are brought more into the alien program and given instruction on:

The Change

An event called The Change is mentioned by the hybrids several times. There isn't a specific date given, but it appears to be the culmination of the alien plans, where UFOs will land openly and humanity will be 'managed'. One chilling exercise in preparation for The Change involved an abductee participating in a simulated exercise involving terrified humans running through city streets and using her psionic powers to guide the humans towards the waiting UFOs.
Reading between the lines, it sounds like large numbers of humans will be wiped out, and the rest enslaved using mind control to work for our new alien overlords, and eventually all replaced with hybrids.

What can we do?

Jacobs is thin on ideas here, so this is my own list of suggestions.
Military
It's clear during the course of the book that UFOs are coming and going at will, even over cities. The Hubrids seem to be 'beaming' up and down from the UFOs fairly regularly. One aspect of this is the whole 'floating through walls and ceilings' reported in many abduction cases, is only possible when there is a UFO hovering overhead, its not an ability the aliens possess without a craft there.
Militaries of the World - its time to up your game in terms of detecting and bringing down these craft, if we stand any chance of halting these plans.
Geneticists
Hybrids carry alien DNA, this can presumably be detected with the right DNA testing kit. The military has recovered plenty of Grey bodies, I assume their DNA has already been sequenced, its a short step to development of a test.
Everyone
Maybe we all need to be on the lookout for these groups of hybrids. They typically live in houses together, have no jobs, and will seem 'weird' when spoken to. They won't keep pets (they find our fascination with 'lower life forms' odd). They have no parents of families, but they will have a cover story in place for where they came from. Depending on how long they have been here, they might not have any ID either.

2024.06.10 13:25 monkaSman Physical Therapy for Torn Bicep Tendon

A biceps tendon rupture occurs when the biceps muscle is torn from the bone at the point of attachment (tendon) to the shoulder or elbow. Most commonly, the biceps tendon is torn at the shoulder. These tears occur in men more than women; most injuries occur at 40 to 60 years of age due to chronic wear of the biceps tendon. In younger individuals, the tear is usually the result of trauma (such as an auto accident or fall). Biceps tendon ruptures can also occur at any age in individuals who perform repetitive overhead lifting or work in occupations that require heavy lifting, and in athletes who lift weights or participate in aggressive contact sports.
Physical therapists help individuals regain flexibility, strength, and function in their arms following biceps tendon ruptures.
Physical therapists are movement experts. They improve quality of life through hands-on care, patient education, and prescribed movement. You can contact a physical therapist directly for an evaluation.
What is a Biceps Tendon Rupture?
The shoulder is a ball-and-socket joint made up of 3 bones: the upper-arm bone (humerus), the shoulder blade (scapula), and the collar bone (clavicle). The ball at the top of the upper-arm bone is called the head of the humerus. The socket on the shoulder blade is called the glenoid fossa. A tendon is a fibrous bundle that attaches a muscle to a bone. The muscles and tendons of the rotator cuff hold the ball into the socket of the shoulder. The biceps muscle has 2 tendons that attach it to the shoulder and travel the length of the upper arm and insert just below the elbow. The biceps muscle is responsible for bending (flexing) the elbow and rotating the forearm. One of the tendons is called the "long head" of the biceps muscle; it attaches to the upper-arm bone. The second area of attachment is called the "short head" of the biceps; it attaches the muscle to a bony bump on the shoulder blade called the coracoid process.
Most commonly, the biceps tendon will tear at the long head of the biceps at the upper-arm bone, leaving the second attachment at the shoulder blade intact. The arm can still be used after this type of rupture, yet weakness will be present in the shoulder and upper arm. A tear can either be partial, when part of the tendon remains intact and only a portion is torn away from the bone, or complete, where the entire tendon is torn away from the bone.
How Does It Feel?
After sustaining a biceps tendon rupture, you may experience:
Sharp pain in the upper arm or elbow
Hearing a "pop" or snap at the shoulder or elbow
Bruising and swelling in the upper arm to elbow
Weakness in the arm when bending the elbow, rotating the forearm, or lifting the arm overhead
Tenderness in the shoulder or elbow
Muscle spasms in the shoulder and arm
A bulge or deformity in the lower part of the upper arm (a "Popeye arm")
How Is It Diagnosed?
In most cases, a thorough history and physical examination of the involved arm can diagnose a biceps tendon rupture. Your physical therapist will ask you several questions regarding your medical history, your regular daily tasks at home and at work, and your recreational or sports activities. Your physical therapist will ask how the injury happened and where you are having pain and/or weakness.
Your physical therapist will examine your entire upper arm for bruising or swelling, and gently touch it to determine if there is any tenderness over the biceps region at the shoulder, upper arm, or elbow. Your physical therapist also will examine the amount of motion and strength present on the involved side in the shoulder, forearm, and elbow, compared to the noninvolved side. Functional testing may also be performed to determine what daily tasks are difficult for you to perform (eg, lifting an object, reaching overhead, reaching behind the body, or rotating the forearm to open a door).
How Can a Physical Therapist Help?
A biceps tendon rupture often is treated without surgery. Your physical therapist will design an individualized treatment program to help heal your injury in the safest and most efficient way possible. Treatment may include:
Rest. You will be instructed in ways that allows the limb to rest to promote healing.
Icing. Your physical therapist will show you how to apply ice to the affected area to manage pain and swelling.
Range-of-Motion Activities. Your physical therapist will teach you gentle mobility exercises for the shoulder, elbow, and forearm, so your arm does not get stiff during the healing process.
Strengthening Exercises. As the pain and swelling ease, gentle strengthening exercises with resistant bands or light weights will be added.
Functional Activities. You will learn exercises to help you return to the activities you performed before the injury.
Education. Your physical therapist will teach you how to protect your joints from further injury. You will learn how to properly lift objects once the arm is healed, and how to avoid lifting objects that are simply too heavy.
Can This Injury or Condition Be Prevented?
To prevent a biceps tendon rupture, individuals should:
Maintain proper strength in the shoulder, elbow, and forearm.
Avoid repetitive overhead lifting and general overuse of the shoulder, such as performing forceful pushing or pulling activities, or lifting objects that are simply too heavy. Lifting more than 150 pounds can be dangerous for older adults.
Use special care when performing activities, such as lowering a heavy item to the ground.
Avoid smoking; it introduces carbon monoxide into the body and leaves less oxygen for the muscles to grow and heal.
Avoid steroid use, as it weakens muscles and tendons.
What Kind of Physical Therapist Do I Need?
All physical therapists are prepared through education and experience to treat biceps tendon ruptures. However, you may want to consider:
A physical therapist who is experienced in treating people with shoulder and elbow conditions or injuries. Some physical therapists have a practice with an orthopedic or sports medicine focus.
A physical therapist who is a board-certified clinical specialist or who completed a residency or fellowship in orthopedic physical therapy. This therapist has advanced knowledge, experience, and skills that may apply to your condition.
You can find physical therapists who have these and other credentials by using Find a PT, the online tool built by the American Physical Therapy Association to help you search for physical therapists with specific clinical expertise in your geographic area.

2024.06.10 13:11 mrpooooopy Can an STD cause stomach pain

People tend to feel pelvic pain lower down in their abdomen and especially during their period, when having sex, during a bowel movement, or when urinating (peeing). In contrast, abdominal pain is more likely to be triggered by eating than pelvic pain. A temporary inflammation from an infection, flu, stomach bug, or stomach ulcer may also cause abdominal pain.
Genital herpes and human papillomavirus (HPV) do not cause abdominal pain. Late-stage HIV and syphilis rarely cause abdominal pain. If HIV progresses and is not treated, people become more ill. The lymph nodes in their abdomen can swell, and they may experience diarrhea, which could cause abdominal pain. There have been several cases of people with syphilis who experience gastritis (a painful stomach inflammation), but this is relatively uncommon.

2024.06.10 13:09 monkaSman Best Powerlifting Supplements: Maximizing Performance with Supplements for Powerlifters

Are you looking to push your performance levels to the max? If so, then powerlifter supplements are definitely for you!
Powerlifters need specialized supplementation that helps them fuel optimal performance and maximize their strength for peak intensity in training and competition.
In this blog post, we'll take a look at some of the best powerlifter supplement products out there, giving you detailed information on what ingredients make these supplements the powerful force they are-allowing you to unleash your true potential.
WHY POWERLIFTING SUPPLEMENTS ARE ESSENTIAL FOR MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE
The answer of why powerlifter supplements are so essential is quite simple: they help fuel intensity and strength. Powerlifting involves high intensity, explosive movements that require significant amounts of energy from every muscle cell in the body. To fuel this level of performance, specific nutrients must be present in the body.
Powerlifter supplements are designed to provide these necessary nutrients in optimal dosages to support muscle growth, increase strength, and aid in recovery. They can also help fight fatigue, reduce muscle soreness, and improve overall energy levels.
Plus, powerlifter supplements are specifically tailored to the needs of powerlifters and their unique training regimen. This means you can trust that these products have been formulated with your training session and specific goals in mind, maximizing your results.
TYPES OF POWERLIFTING SUPPLEMENTS TO CONSIDER
When it comes to powerlifter supplements, there are a few key categories that you should consider incorporating into your training regimen:
Protein Supplements: High-quality protein is essential for muscle growth and recovery. Look for products that contain whey or casein protein, as these are easily digestible and have the necessary amino acids to support muscle building.
Creatine: This supplement is a must-have for powerlifters, as it can help increase strength and muscle mass. It also aids in recovery by replenishing ATP levels.
BCAAs: Branch chain amino acids (BCAAs) help reduce muscle breakdown during intense training and can also improve endurance and reduce fatigue.
Pre-workout Supplements: These supplements provide a boost of energy and focus, helping you power through intense training sessions.
Post-workout Supplements: These supplements are designed to aid in recovery by replenishing nutrients and promoting muscle repair.
Joint Support Supplements: Powerlifting can be tough on the joints, so incorporating joint support supplements can help prevent injuries and keep you training at your best.
FINDING THE RIGHT SUPPLEMENT BALANCE
When it comes to powerlifter supplements, the key is finding the right balance. Here are the top tips to keep in mind:
Consult with a Professional: Before starting any new supplement regimen, it's important to consult with a professional such as a sports nutritionist or your coach. They can help you determine which supplements are best for your specific goals and needs.
Read Labels Carefully: Make sure to read labels carefully and understand the ingredients in each supplement. Look for products that are third-party tested and have transparent ingredient lists.
Listen to Your Body: Everyone's body is different, so it's important to pay attention to how your body responds to supplements. If you experience any adverse effects, stop taking the supplement and consult with a professional.
Stay Hydrated: Proper hydration is key when taking powerlifter supplements. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to support optimal performance and recovery.
Don't Rely Solely on Supplements: While supplements can be beneficial, they should not replace a well-rounded and balanced diet. Make sure to also prioritize whole foods that provide essential nutrients.
In addition to enhancing performance, powerlifter supplements offer a range of benefits.
Firstly, they can help save time and energy. Instead of trying to consume all the necessary nutrients through food alone, supplements provide a convenient and efficient way to fuel your body.
Additionally, the targeted ingredients in powerlifter supplements can help prevent deficiencies and imbalances in muscle cells that could hinder performance.
Finally, many powerlifter supplements are formulated with natural ingredients, eliminating any potential negative side effects.
HOW TO FIND QUALITY SUPPLEMENTS AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE
While high-quality dietary supplements may come with a higher price tag, there are ways to find affordable options without sacrificing quality.
One way is to buy in bulk or opt for subscription services that offer discounts. Another option is to purchase generic versions of popular brands. These products often have similar ingredients and can be just as effective.
You can also look for deals and promotions from reputable supplement companies, or try buying from online retailers that offer competitive pricing.
INGREDIENTS IN POWERLIFTING SUPPLEMENTS
There are the key ingredients that make powerlifter supplements so effective:
Whey Protein: This type of protein is quickly absorbed by the body, making it ideal for post-workout recovery.
Casein Protein: This slow-digesting protein is best taken before bed to provide a steady supply of amino acids throughout the night.
Creatine Monohydrate: This form of creatine supplementation is the most studied and effective for increasing strength and muscle contraction mass.
BCAAs: These essential branched chain amino acids include leucine, isoleucine, and valine, which are crucial for skeletal muscle growth and recovery.
Caffeine: A common ingredient in pre-workout supplements, caffeine can improve focus, energy, and performance.
Glutamine: This amino acid helps reduce muscle protein synthesis breakdown and fatigue, making it ideal for post-workout recovery.
SAFETY PRACTICES FOR TAKING POWERLIFTING SUPPLEMENTS
As with any supplement regimen, safety should be a top priority. Here are some key practices to keep in mind when taking powerlifting supplements:
Follow Recommended Dosages: Taking more than the recommended dosage of a supplement can have adverse effects on your health. Always follow the instructions and dosages provided by the manufacturer.
Avoid Combining Certain Supplements: Some supplements may interact with each other and have negative effects. Be cautious when combining different supplements and consult with a professional if unsure.
Choose Reputable Brands: When it comes to supplements, quality is crucial. Choose reputable brands that prioritize transparency and third-party testing.
Store Supplements Properly: Many supplements require specific storage conditions to maintain their effectiveness. Make sure to read the instructions and store supplements accordingly.
Be Mindful of Allergies: Some supplements may contain allergens such as dairy, soy, or gluten. Make sure to read labels carefully and avoid any potential allergens.
Incorporating powerlifter supplements into your training regimen can provide numerous benefits and support optimal performance. Just remember to do your research, follow safety practices, and listen to your body to find the right balance for your specific needs and goals.
And always remember, supplements should supplement a healthy diet and training routine, not replace them. So keep working hard, fueling your body with proper nutrition, and reaching new heights in powerlifting!
SIDE EFFECTS OF POWERLIFTER SUPPLEMENTS
While powerlifter supplements offer many benefits, it's important to note that they may also come with potential side effects. Some possible side effects include digestive issues, headaches, and nausea.
To avoid or minimize these side effects, make sure to follow recommended dosages and consult with a professional if you experience any adverse reactions. Additionally, choose reputable brands that prioritize quality and transparency.
With proper research, safety practices, and mindful consumption, powerlifter supplements can be a valuable addition to your training and nutrition regimen. So keep pushing yourself in the gym and fueling your body composition with the right supplements to reach your full potential as a powerlifter.
FAQS
Do Powerlifters Take Supplements?

Supplements such as whey protein, creatine phosphate, and BCAAs can provide essential nutrients that may be lacking in a regular diet, leading to improved strength, or fish oil lean body mass, and overall athletic performance. However, it's important to note that using supplements for powerlifters should not replace a well-rounded diet and training regimen, but rather supplement it. It's also important for powerlifters to do their research, follow safety practices, and listen to their bodies when incorporating supplements into their routine.
Do Powerlifters Use Protein Powder?
Yes, protein powder is a popular supplement among powerlifters. It provides a convenient and efficient way to consume high levels of protein necessary for muscle growth and recovery. Whey protein, casein protein, and plant-based proteins are all common options for powerlifters looking to increase their daily protein intake. However, it's important to choose high-quality protein powders from a reputable brand to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Can Powerlifting Supplements Be Harmful?
While powerlifting supplements can provide numerous benefits, it's important to use them carefully and responsibly. Some potential side effects include digestive issues, headaches, and nausea. To minimize these risks, make sure to follow recommended dosages and consult with a professional if experiencing any adverse reactions. Additionally, choosing reputable brands that prioritize quality and transparency can help ensure the safety of your supplements. Remember, supplements should be used to supplement a healthy diet and training routine, not replace them.
CONCLUSION
The potential for success through powerlifting supplementation is immense. With proper use, these products can allow you to reach entirely new levels of athleticism and physicality.
Supplementation is just one factor in optimizing performance; however, it should not be taken lightly or misused. When used properly, powerlifter supplements can help you to unlock your full strength and maximize performance.
