Today I had an absolute EXCELLENT time with my Logitech device. I want to share my absolutely positive experience with y'all!
I have an MX Anywhere mouse - the OG MX Anywhere. It is an excellent pointing device. Toggling between detent and undetent scrolling is achieved with a satisfying click. This behaviour ensures it doesn't face the same issues that the MX Master 3 faces, where the scroll wheel slips in detent mode (when the auto-switching to smooth scrolling is turned off), ensuring consistent feel and intentional functionality. The battery life is fantastic, the accuracy is decent for a non-gaming mouse user, and the latency/range is solid enough. The product has lasted me a while, and honestly looks brand new. It has got an excellent heft to it, the Teflon hasn't worn out, and feels like it was made by nature - almost like a pebble smoothed over by ozmandyian nature.
However, these are only true when I can ACTUALLY FUCKING USE THE GODDAMN DEVICE.
All I want to do is pair the device with my unifying receiver - that's all. I want to use it as a pointing device on a 4-5-year-old MacBook and use the 2 buttons and a scroll wheel. I don't want to use the two side buttons because my expectations are low. Everything you read down below is done WITHOUT A GODDAMN POINTING DEVICE.
I remember there was a Unifying Software that kinda allowed me to link mice to receivers. It had its issues, and it didn't have sexy, useless, investor-friendly AI features, but it got the job done after some fiddling. It then stayed out of the way - at least that is how I remember it. I also remember Logi Options being released once, and I downloaded it to try it out but it always had an issue with my mouse - no big deal, I can still point and click. However, there is now a "Logi Options+". Oh wow, has Logitech's work culture become Google-like where an imbecile PM needs to build useless shit to advance their career? Is this another "publish or perish" situation? No worries, it's alright. The benefit of the doubt here; sometimes hardware and software stacks change - I understand - I am a computer engineer currently "enjoying" a USB stack change. No worries, let me just research what to get for my laptop. Maybe the software page will help.

Hi, I plan on getting a Mac Studio. It’ll be an upgrade from my 2010 15” MacBook Pro 🤣. I only need the base one but with a terabyte of storage. But I don’t know whether it’s worth waiting for the M4 or buying a refurb M2? I will use it to setup an eBay trading account hopefully to get an extra income. But I also want to play some games on it, now before everyone says get a Windows computer, it’s not huge new games. I have consoles for that. I just want to play Diablo 4, Aliens Dark Descent, Starcraft 2. Iron Harvest, Mutant Year Zero Road To Eden. Stuff like that.
Now I ‘think’ they will run on the M2 Max? But not sure, however from what I can tell the M3 Max and ergo the M4 are a huge upgrade in graphics performance, is that true? And whilst I don’t buy into Gurman’s prediction of no Studio update till end of 2025, either do I want to wait that long to buy a computer.
What would you guys do? Also is it worth getting the upgraded Max M2 chip for those games?

Hello, I have a Macbook Pro 13 mid 2010 with 4gb of ram, on apple website i saw that the max ram is 8gb at 1066mHz, but i saw a lot of people putting 16gb of ram into it, is it possible? Do i need some kind of firmware or i can just buy a kit of 2x8gb of ddr3 at 1066mHz and it will run fine? Also im running high sierra, latest version officially supported by Apple. Thanks

Hi all. I’m very computer basic and I’ve had an old Mac from about 2005 sitting in my closet in a bin that has the battery pushing out the trackpad. It won’t turn on any long yet I may have files I don’t want others to see.
Is there any place that might disassemble the hard drive for me at least? I don’t want to puncture the battery at all in case it causes a fire. Would it be safe to open on my own at all?
I’m sure that’s highly likely to cause an issue.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 2010 era MacBook Pro, and left it in an outdoor storage room over the winter. This seems to have destroyed the battery and the touchpad.
It runs, but while the touchpad works, i have to use an external mouse to click on anything. Drive seems okay as it boots up and runs normally, but it frequently "encounters an error" etc and spontaneously reboots.
Questions, can I remove the drive and connect it to Linux or Windows to copy it? I also have a 2020 Intel MacBook. Is the battery safe? It only runs on AC now and I'm concerned the touchpad is askew because the battery is swollen. Not sure what version of OSX it is running but I think I updated it a few years ago. Also have not ascertained whether the drive is encrypted, if that's an issue. My ex has an almost identical Mac and wont sell it to me, ha.

I hadn't played video games since Age of Empires 3 and PS2 pre 2010 and thought I'd try some Baldurs Gate 3 on my M2 MBP. Now I'm hooked...
I'm obsessing over building a PC and actually getting into PC gaming so I can try Age of Empires 4, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, etc.
My main question is, what kind of build (AMD or Intel) would my M2 MBP equate to so that I can establish a PC baseline equivalent? Remember I haven't gamed in almost 15 years prior so this laptop is my baseline.

I know that the laptop will have lower power usage, comes with a monitor, keyboard, etc etc. but in terms of gaming performance, are there benchmarks out there that would have a PC build match this laptop?
• Ex. Is an intel i5-12400 with RTX 3050 going to feel similar, stronger or weaker than my laptop for gaming?
My intended build is something like a AMD Ryzen 7 7600 with RTX 4070 super, 32gb 6000MHz DDR5 RAM and 2TB M.2 so I can play 1440p on a 27" 144Hz monitor. I already know it'll do better at gaming than the laptop, I'm just curious how much better?
That build is pricey for me since I already spent $2K plus on this laptop last year. Will I be blown away by the comparison to the laptop if I go for something lighter like AMD 5600x with a RX 6600 XT and 16GB of DDR4 RAM and play at 1080p on a 24" 144Hz monitor?
Bonus points: I like how snappy and quick everything is on my laptop (startup times, application loading, photo editing in Lightroom, internet browsing, Microsoft Word, and overall general use). Would a PC equivalent in gaming feel slower than the laptop? Would my 1440p desired build be similar or faster feeling?

In der Diskussion in meiner Umgebung, wenn ich versuche meinen Frust darzustellen über die aktuelle Lage, dass ich es absolut widerlich finde, dass junge Männer aus dem Ausland hier ohne einen Pass, ohne Identifikation, ohne jegliches Wissen darüber ob diese Person bereits Kriminell war, Terrorist ist dennoch Aufenthalt und Sozialhilfe bekommt kriege ich als Antwort:

Warum? Stören dich diese Männer?

Meine Antwort war: Ja. Selbst wenn diese aus dem Krieg fliehen sind es Feiglinge, die ihre Verwandschaft zurücklässt. Wenn nicht, dann sind sie Parasiten, die eher ihre Gesellschaft in Stich lassen, als sich um ihre Umgebung, Bekannten, Verwandten zu kümmern(Krönung des perfiden Individualismus). Sie können überhaupt kein Deutsch, gar kein bis kaum Englisch und ich bezweifle, dass die große Mehrheit in der Lage ist Schulalgebra anzuwenden. Die größte Mehrheit dieser werden eine dauerhafte Last für unser Sozialsystem, benötigen Förderung in Sprache und darauf Mathematik um überhaupt eine für die Gesellschaft wichtige Tätigkeit auszuführen oder überhaupt eine Ausbildung anzufangen. Sie werden im schlimmsten Fall nur ausgenutzt von Arbeitgebern und auf lange Zeit wird sie niemand aufgrund ihres fragwürdigen Lebenslaufes irgendwo einstellen. Sie belügen den Staat bei Eintritt und missbrauchen unseren Mitleid indem sie ihre Papiere bei Eintritt verlieren, aber trotzdem sind sie in der Lage ihr Smartphone mitzunehmen.
Daraufhin kriege ich größtenteils als Antwort:

"Es sind doch auch Menschen.", "Du bist rassist, nazi", "Ein AfD Wähler also"

Ich: Junge Männer, die bereits fertig in ihrem Weltbild aufgewachsen sind und nicht unser Weltbild akzeptieren werden von Beginn an ohne längere Förderung, Begleitung des Staates nicht in der Lage sein eine Ausbildung anzufangen. Wir laden praktisch Obdachlose aus dem Ausland ein hier als Tourist für die nächsten Jahrzehnte Urlaub zu machen.

Du würdest auch fliehen, wenn du nicht das Glück hättest hier geboren worden zu sein.

Ich: Und das ist ein Grund perspektivlose Träumer in ein Land aufzunehmen, zu pflegen anstatt den selben Willen und Mittel für einheimische Obdachlose, Drogensüchtigen, Auszubildende, Studenten und Familien, die knapp an der Grenze leben zu bieten und zu unterstützen?

Ich bin mittlerweile Fassungslos, angewidert, voller Hass gegenüber der Heuchelei, das Thema Flüchtlingspolitik noch immer nicht geklärt ist und anscheinend so gut wie nichts aus der ersten Flüchtlingswelle gelernt wurde.
Die Menschen, die aktuell aus der Balkanroute kommen und angeben, sie seien aus Syrien oder Afghanistan sind Lügner. Viele von Ihnen sind dort nicht mal Staatsbürger, aber natürlich sind sie unserem Staat 500 Schritte voraus und wissen, dass sie durch diese Angabe ein Asylrecht bekommen, wenn sie ein bisschen Krokodilstränen fallen lassen und arabisch sprechen. Familien aus dieser Himmelsrichtung sind eine Seltenheit, weil Familiennachzug eine Seltenheit ist, da sie sonst Identifikation und Papiere vorlegen, damit sie in der Lage sind diese nachziehen zu lassen.
Hier nochmal die pisa 2022 Studie, wo der Einfluss der jungen "minderjährigen" Männer in unseren Schulen zu spüren war, die mit minderjährigen eine Schule besucht haben. Natürlich ist das unter Vorbehalt weil die schwache Leistung der Pandemie zugeschrieben wird. Aber warten wir mal auf pisa 2025 richtig?

Leistungsschwache Schülerinnen (unter Kompetenzstufe II) sind nicht in der Lage, einfache vollständig beschriebene mathematische Aufgaben zu lösen. ... Während 2012 noch 0.7 Prozent der Schülerinnen am Gymnasium leistungsschwach waren, sind es 4 Prozent im Jahr 2022. Auch an den nicht gymnasialen Schularten lag der Anteil mit 42 Prozent im Gegensatz zu 25 Prozent im Jahr 2012 dieses Mal bedeutend höher.
Leistungsschwache Jugendliche sind nicht ausreichend auf eine erfolgreiche Teilhabe an der modernen Gesellschaft sowie auf die nächsten Schritte ihres Bildungswegs vorbereitet. Mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit sind sie ohne zusätzliche Förderung weder den Anforderungen weiterführender Schulen noch denen der beruflichen Ausbildung gewachsen.

Z.B. im Steckbrief zu Syrien alleine im Jahr 2023 hatten wir 104561 Anträge und von 2012-2022 nur 17808 anerkannte Syrische Abschlüsse obwohl die Jugend-Alphabetisierungsquote bei 96,1 % (2014 Schätzung) liegt. Jugendarbeitslosenquote 20,4 % (2010)
Z.B. im Steckbrief zu Afghanistan was seit den letzten Jahren stark zunimmt an Asylanfragen war es 2022 41471(2023 53.582) während nur 564 Abschlüsse anerkannt wurden von 2012-2021. Jugend-Alphabetisierungsquote 55,9 % (2021), Analphabeten (ab 15 Jahre) 14.584.432 (2021)
Zu den Qualifikation steht im bpb:

Teilweise bestehen sehr große Unterschiede zwischen den einzelnen Herkunftsgruppen: Geflüchtete aus Syrien, Iran und der ehemaligen Sowjetunion stechen durch ein besonders hohes durchschnittliches Bildungsniveau hervor, während das Gegenteil auf Geflüchtete insbesondere aus Afghanistan, Somalia und Eritrea zutrifft

Insgesamt 17% haben ihr Studium bzw. ihre Ausbildung im Ausland auch abgeschlossen. Auf der anderen Seite können 75% der Geflüchteten nach eigenen Angaben keine formale Ausbildung vorweisen. Darunter befinden sich wiederum viele, die auf informellem Weg einen Beruf erlernt haben und/oder anderweitig auf dem Arbeitsmarkt Erfahrung gesammelt haben.
Aus anderen Hauptherkunftsländern von Geflüchteten wurden bislang sehr wenige Berufsabschlüsse anerkannt. Dazu zählen Somalia, Eritrea (144 anerkannte Abschlüsse zwischen 2012 und 2020), Afghanistan (483 anerkannte Abschlüsse zwischen 2012 und 2020) und Nigeria (261 anerkannte Abschlüsse zwischen 2012 und 2020). Dies liegt unter anderem daran, dass in diesen Ländern die Berufsausbildung, beispielsweise in handwerklichen Berufen, häufig auf informellem Wege („Learning by Doing“) stattfindet und dadurch in Deutschland nicht anerkannt werden kann.

Und schaut euch genau die Seite 11 an: 2023 von 261.601 Entscheidungen über Asylanträge wurden nur 1.824 0,7%(!) als Asylberechtigte unter Art. 16a GG und Familienasyl anerkannt. Die Größte Anzahl an Asylberechtigten waren in 2017 mit 603.428 Anträgen und nur 4.359 0,7% anerkannten Asylanten.
Als Vergleich im Jahr 2023: Die USA(2022 333,3 Millionen Einwohner) hat ungefähr gleichviele Asylanträge wie wir. Frankreich ~1/2 wie wir. Spanien, Italien, Österreich, Griechenland nehmen ~1/3 wie wir.

I was hoping my old MacBook Pro Mid 2010 would be able to run Linux. Alas, it has been years since I have been able to run the current MacOS on it. Given my old hardware I would like to try archlinux or debian, which disto would be better for my MacBook? I was hoping my old MacBook Pro Mid 2010 would be able to run Linux. Alas, it has been years since I have been able to run the current MacOS on it. Given my old hardware I would like to try archlinux or debian, which disto would be better for my MacBook? I did a little research and I like the look and feel of KDE and Gnome for desktop enivorments. Advice? Thank you for your time and insights.

Sein Lebenslauf

Dirk Kreuter wurde am 30. September 1967 in Neuss am Rhein geboren und wuchs im Sauerland auf. Mit 12 Jahren begann er mit dem Windsurfen und träumte davon, Surf-Lehrer zu werden. Seine Eltern drängten jedoch darauf, dass er einen anerkannten Lehrberuf ergreift, weshalb er die Schule abschloss und seinen Traum zunächst aufgab.
Kreuter arbeitete zunächst als Schweißer in einer Fabrik, da er schnell Geld verdienen und unabhängig von seinen Eltern leben wollte. Bald darauf erkannte er, dass er lieber im Büro arbeiten würde, und begann eine Ausbildung zum Groß- und Außenhandelskaufmann. Nach dem Abschluss seiner Ausbildung strebte er eine Profikarriere als Triathlet an und finanzierte diese durch Preisgelder und einen Job als Außendienstler für einen Materialsponsor.
Seine erste Tätigkeit im Vertrieb wurde zu einer langfristigen Anstellung, und er betrieb den Triathlonsport fortan nur noch hobbymäßig.
1990 gründete Kreuter sein eigenes Gewerbe. Ohne vorherige Erfahrung im Außendienst musste er sich vieles selbst beibringen. Durch Bücher, Seminare und Gespräche mit erfahrenen Kollegen eignete er sich das notwendige Wissen an.

Karriere als Verkaufstrainer

Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Handelsvertreter begann Dirk Kreuter eine Zweitkarriere als Verkaufstrainer. 2003 entwickelte er gemeinsam mit vier weiteren Fachleuten das Konzept „SALEMASTERs“, bei dem fünf Top-Trainer auf einer Bühne ihr Expertenwissen präsentieren. Dieses Konzept machte ihn schnell zum Meinungsführer im Verkaufstraining.

Hello! I wanted to ask about typing and editing text in the Boox Tab X or Air Note 3 BW
i want a device to type and edit short stories, blogposts and the like, maybe write a novel.
I have an iPad Pro 11 inch that I enjoy very much and a MacBook Pro 2018. I do a lot of my writing on the iPad freehand. When I have to type things down or edit documents I’ve been doing that on the MacBook. However I’ve noticed that with my 9-5 computer job I don’t want to be looking at another computer screen in the evenings
I’m familiar with e-ink technology, I’ve had a kindles since 2010 and I have a Kobo Libra 2 BW. I don’t want to compromise on battery power and contrast which is why I’m looking at the Tab X and the Air Note 3 BW.
It seems that the Air Note 3 BW does not have the super refresh feature but it’s several hundred dollars cheaper so I was wondering if it’s good enough for my use case of if I should go with the Tab X instead.
Also I want to use a third party keyboard. Since the Tab Ultra C keyboard seems uncomfortable for lenghty use I’m not considering that but let me know if you think I should. Thank you!

For her birthday my family and I are getting my sister a new macbook since her macbook air 2015 has had multiple drinks spilled on it to the point the keyboard no longer works and it's pretty slow (taking multiple seconds to switch windows and running fairly lightweight roblox games at like 20fps). The budget range is only $300 with some flexibility (going up to maybe $400) since we're planning to get her a new one once she graduates in two years, so this new laptop is just to tide her over for the next few years. Also side note we're Canadian, so $200-300 for the Americans on here.
Honestly the 2015 air has pretty good specs which surprised me given its age, so I'm assuming it's slow because of the damage. As an alternative we were thinking about trying to get the machine fixed with a new keyboard and all of that but it just feels like it'd be cheaper to get a new device we're sure is able to run well instead of spending a bunch of money on repairs risking the chance it only is slightly more useable than before.
All that said just looking for a good machine that you may be able to find in that price range (also we're going to buy off facebook marketplace or some second hand website, otherwise we'd probably find at best like a mac 2010 for that price LOL). Would be much preferred if it's an air too. But yeah mainly looking to find the next best thing right after a 2015 air which seems like it'd be plausible to find at that price. I'm also completely okay scouring fb marketplace to find a decent machine so even if you think it might not happen if it doesn't seem like a complete scam feel free to list the machine.

Hey everyone, I have a 2010 MacBook Pro that I've been holding onto, and the battery life has become pretty poor. Does anyone know if Apple still offers battery replacement services for this model? If not, what are my best alternatives? Thanks in advance for any advice!
