2024.05.29 12:03 Revolutionary-Sky758 How to Write a Reflective Essay: A Comprehensive Guide

Essays come in various forms, each demanding a unique approach and skill set. Among these, the reflective essay stands out as a beacon of introspection and self-expression. Crafted to delve deep into personal experiences, thoughts, and emotions, it serves as a canvas where students can paint their narratives with the hues of retrospection. In this guide, we’ll delve into the purpose, types, and practical tips for crafting compelling reflective essays.

The Purpose of Reflective Essays

Unlike traditional academic essays that predominantly focus on analysis and argumentation, reflective essays pivot towards self-exploration and contemplation. They provide a platform for individuals to articulate their thoughts and feelings regarding a particular experience, allowing for personal growth, insight, and perspective.

Different Types of Reflective Essays

There are different types of reflective essays, including:

How to Start Strong

Many captivating ways exist to grab your reader's attention and introduce your reflection. Here are some options to consider:
Example: "Have you ever had a moment where fear threatened to paralyze you, but you pushed through anyway?" This question sets the stage for an essay about overcoming stage fright or another fear-inducing experience.
Example: "My heart pounded a frantic rhythm against my ribs as I stared out at the sea of faces. The microphone felt heavy and cold in my clammy hands. Public speaking had always been my kryptonite, and here I was, moments before delivering a presentation to the entire student body." This anecdote sets the stage for an essay about overcoming stage fright.
Example: "During my recent volunteer stint at the local animal shelter, I encountered a shy, abandoned dog named Charlie. His matted fur and timid demeanor tugged at my heartstrings, and I knew I had to help." This sets the stage for an essay about the impact of volunteering or the human-animal bond.
Example: "The only true journey is the one within," - Rainer Maria Rilke. This quote could introduce an essay about personal growth or a transformative experience.
Example Thesis: While initially dreading my presentation, overcoming stage fright not only boosted my confidence but also revealed the power of facing my fears.
Example: The day I volunteered at the soup kitchen wasn't just about serving meals; it was a profound lesson in empathy and the power of human connection
Regardless of the approach you choose, the key lies in captivating your audience from the very first sentence, enticing them to embark on the reflective journey alongside you.

How to Write a Reflective Essay

To bring this fusion of narrative and analysis to life, you should consider the following key elements:

Tips for Crafting a Compelling Reflective Essay

While the reflective journey is inherently personal, certain tips and techniques can enhance the efficacy and impact of the essay:
  1. Be Authentic: Authenticity is the cornerstone of a compelling reflective essay. Embrace vulnerability and honesty, allowing your true voice to shine through the narrative.
  2. Embrace Vulnerability: Reflective essays thrive on vulnerability. Don't shy away from exploring moments of discomfort, doubt, or vulnerability, as they often pave the path to profound insight and growth.
  3. Engage in Critical Reflection: Beyond recounting experiences, engage in critical reflection by analyzing the underlying themes, assumptions, and implications. Challenge your perspectives, question societal norms, and strive for deeper self-awareness.
  4. Utilize Reflective Models: Drawing upon established reflective models such as Gibbs' Reflective Cycle or Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle can provide a structured framework for introspection, guiding the reflective process from experience to insight.
  5. Seek Feedback: Solicit feedback from peers, mentors, or instructors to gain diverse perspectives and refine your reflective narrative. Constructive criticism can offer valuable insights and foster continuous improvement.

Conclusion

The reflective essay serves as a powerful instrument of self-discovery, empowerment, and growth. By embracing the art of introspection and narrative expression, students can unlock a realm of personal insight and transformation, enriching both their academic journey and their understanding of self. So, embark on the reflective journey with courage and curiosity, for within the depths of introspection lies the true essence of learning and enlightenment.

Sample Reflective Essay:

Embracing Vulnerability: A Journey of Self-Discovery
As I sit down to recount my experiences and insights in this reflective essay, I am struck by the raw vulnerability inherent in baring one's innermost thoughts to the world. Yet, it is precisely this vulnerability that serves as the catalyst for profound self-discovery and growth. In the following pages, I invite you to embark on a journey through the corridors of my mind, where moments of joy, sorrow, triumph, and introspection intertwine to form the tapestry of my reflective narrative.
Introduction: The Prelude to Reflection
In the twilight hours of a crisp autumn evening, I find myself enveloped in a cocoon of solitude, the gentle rustle of leaves outside my window serving as a backdrop to my musings. It is amidst this serene solitude that I am prompted to embark on a journey of introspection, delving deep into the recesses of my soul to unravel the threads of my identity and purpose.
Setting the Stage: A Moment of Revelation
The genesis of my reflective journey can be traced back to a seemingly inconsequential moment—a chance encounter with an old friend, whose words ignited a spark of self-awareness within me. "Have you ever stopped to truly reflect on your life?" they queried, their eyes shimmering with genuine curiosity. In that moment, I was confronted with a profound truth: amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, I had neglected to pause and ponder the trajectory of my existence.
The Journey Begins: Navigating the Landscape of Self
Armed with newfound resolve, I embarked on a journey of self-exploration, navigating the labyrinthine corridors of my mind with equal parts trepidation and curiosity. With each step, I unearthed buried memories, untangled complex emotions, and confronted long-held beliefs that had shaped my worldview. It was a voyage marked by moments of clarity and confusion, enlightenment and epiphany, as I grappled with the complexities of my own identity.
The Power of Vulnerability: Embracing the Uncomfortable
As I traversed the terrain of introspection, I soon realized that vulnerability was not a sign of weakness, but rather a gateway to profound growth and connection. It was in moments of raw honesty and authenticity that I experienced true liberation, shedding the layers of pretense and embracing my imperfections with open arms. Through vulnerability, I forged deep and meaningful connections with others, unearthing a shared humanity that transcended superficial differences.
Epiphanies and Revelations: Insights Gleaned Along the Way
In the crucible of reflection, I encountered a myriad of insights that reshaped my perspective on life, love, and the pursuit of happiness. I discovered that true fulfillment lies not in the pursuit of external accolades or material possessions, but rather in the cultivation of inner peace and authenticity. I learned that failure is not a final destination, but rather a stepping stone on the path to success. And perhaps most importantly, I realized that the most profound moments of growth often emerge from the depths of adversity.
Conclusion: A Call to Action
As I pen these final words, I am filled with a sense of gratitude for the transformative power of reflection. It is through the act of looking inward that we unearth the diamonds buried beneath the surface of our souls, forging a deeper connection with ourselves and the world around us. So, I extend an invitation to you, dear reader, to embark on your own journey of self-discovery, armed with courage, curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity. For within the depths of introspection lies the true essence of what it means to be human.

2024.05.29 11:43 thegreatandpowerfu1 My [20M] girlfriend [21F] is pretty much irritated by me trying to support her. What can I do about it?

Sorry for my bad English in advance.
My girlfriend and I have been dating for almost 7 months now, and we haven't had any problems before.
It's worth saying that I've always been very worried about our relationship, whether I'm annoying or boring her. This has been our main topic of discussion when in doubt, and almost always she has given an open answer and shown her interest. We both agree I have an anxious attachment style...
For the last month, she has been working on her bachelors thesis, spending sleepless nights finishing programs and writing a lot of pages.
The problem that bothers me is that while she was writing her thesis, our way of communicating completely changed.
I tried to support her in everything so that she would not get sad and give up, trying not to disturb her for nothing.
But, almost every time I asked her how she was doing, she would say something along the lines of, “Well, fine” “Well, yeah” “Feeling fucking great”, “Well, something like that”. Or when asked if she's worried about something (she said she had anxiety) she says “I don't care about anything anymore”. Another time, when asked how she's doing she noticeably raised her voice, irritated.
Like I said before, I'm very afraid of annoying people and sarcasm doesn't really make me feel better. I completely understand that thesis is very difficult, but that's not a reason to respond to a partner like that.
She still says she loves me, that we are doing well in our relationship.
Anyway, what could happen in the future if this occurs after 7 months? Is this a red flag? Or am I overthinking? How can I/we improve our relationship?

2024.05.29 11:35 HEY_PAUL_KILL_URSELF Jackie Singh is a sociopath who intentionally ruins the lives of innocent people with evidence that she fabricates, exhibit 101

In light of Jackie's recent bizarre and false allegations against Katie Herzog, here is a brief glimpse into the mind of someone with no moral compass.
Jackie contacts the employer of John Gibney, a health care worker from Houston, TX, falsely accusing him of criminal behavior:
https://nanaimg.net/img/301eff07cadde48992389a67930efb13.png
This was a pretty traumatic event for Mr. Gibney, who had never heard of Jackie or any of the things she was accusing him of, but suddenly out of the blue his employer was being informed that he was some sort of cyber criminal by a self-styled expert.
Jackie has done this to dozens upon dozens of completely innocent people, has never once apologized or retracted her statements, acknowledges that she sometimes (almost always) gets it wrong, and does not care:
https://nanaimg.net/img/7a0743f49b6c980964063f9d32555194.jpeg
April 25, 2023 - Jackie Singh writes a long expose falsely accusing a Swedish man named Petter Janse, of operating a SWAT-for-hire service called Torswats. His family is harassed, and Swedish media and law enforcement are bombarded with messages demanding that he be arrested by Jackie and her braindead followers:
https://archive.ph/v3A0B
After the real Torswats is arrested and Janse is vindicated, instead of apologizing or retracting her statement, Jackie creates a fake Torswats Telegram account pretending to be Janse and has a hilariously cringey conversation with herself:

https://nanaimg.net/img/a4184048178eff6545ae6db655704e11.jpeg
Shortly thereafter, she accidentally posts a screenshot of a Twitter DM with Janse from her perspective to the fake Torswats channel, proving that she is indeed the operator of this fake channel:

https://nanaimg.net/img/31b06a3a37ce69ba5946a3177457f3a4.png
This is not the first time Jackie has falsified evidence to incriminate innocent people:
https://nanaimg.net/img/59ef018e06a8763045209c418a70f3e4.jpeg
Whenever you see Jackie preaching about where our tax dollars should go (she owes over $100k to the IRS) or taking the moral high ground, it may be worth informing those unaware that she is in fact a sociopath, and all of her moral proclamations should be analyzed from within this context.

2024.05.29 11:10 Tambi_B My father's wife hurt me with an offhanded comment

Something my father's wife said while I was trying to hold polite conversation during their visit has been stuck in my head for days now.
For context, I live with my sister and brother in law and their adult son. Of the three, I am the youngest at 44 so we aren't kids. My father and his wife visit us about once, maybe twice a year. She has made it very clear through body language, off-handed comments, and general interactions that she is not a fan of us.
When they visit she spends as much time as possible out on the deck or far away from everyone else and almost always leaves hours before our father to go back to their hotel room. I usually let my father borrow my car when they are visiting so he can go back separately. She says that it is because of animal allergies which I don't disbelieve, but due to the aforementioned signs of her dislike of us, I believe it is an excuse.
She spends the whole time reading, which is of course fine. I am a very avid reader and have been my whole life. I know that she doesn't really read fiction, though, so I rarely talk books with her. This time, though, I had just read an interesting book that was alternate history that I thought was very accessible to many people so I asked her a broad question 'Do you ever read fantasy?' and her response was 'Never. I do not have an imagination.'
In that moment, I felt like I have never disliked her more.
I have been rolling it over in my head for days now and it is bothering me a lot....because I got my love of reading and fantasy from my mother. My father reads very little but in the last few years he has read a couple Discworld books because he knows I like them and he tries to get into things I like.
My father started dating this woman about a year after our mother died and within a year after that they got married. My sister hates her and I have never been a fan but I try to be civil because I understand that most people want/need a partner and not every person is going to pair up with someone you like.
That one statement though...it hurt my heart so much. It felt like a desecration of the person that was the most important thing in my life. It hurt so much that my father remarried someone who 'Doesn't have an imagination.'
Not looking for advice. Just....wanted to write it all out somewhere that wasn't quite the void.

2024.05.29 10:58 Tintangtun Cover letter for Visitor visa from India

Hi All. I’m applying for UK visitor visa for my parents. I took help from an agency as my parents financials were not very strong. My father has used personal bank account for his business transactions. No monthly credit of rental income as sometimes he is given cash. In the 6months statement only 3 months will show rent credits. We are submitting rental agreement to show evidence. I also have prepared a document to list down every big transaction that was for business purpose/ loaned money that was returned by relatives. Mom is unemployed and doesn’t have any property but has FD worth £1500.
The agency has given me a cover letter which is quite simple and states purpose of visit, sponsorship, list of documents submitted. They are saying this is enough as I am sponsoring the visit.
I feel we should write a detailed cover letter explaining 1. Self employment and bank statements clarification 2. Both parents have mothers, my sister and their siblings so they wont stay back 3. Father has business that he started last year and property and so will not want to stay in UK
I don’t know if I will end up complicating the cover letter. Or should I just follow the agency?

2024.05.29 10:51 Puzzleheaded-3088 Character Analysis of Teru Hanazawa (only till S1)

Character Analysis of Teru Hanazawa (only till S1)

https://preview.redd.it/eav7da8ikb3d1.png?width=366&format=png&auto=webp&s=1f1e51238449ebafea3e8a4767f63470825865c7
As I said that I will be writing some character analysis, here I am. Now note this is only till S1. Teru didn't develop substantially in S2 but his closure and development in S3 is also amazing. So part 2 which I think I will shortly write will complete my character analysis on this wonderful side character of this amazing series. So without further ado, let's start

TERU- THE BACKGROUND
This is the exact line said by dimple when he saw Teru getting anxious after seeing Mob and wanting to fight him. Now, earlier I thought that Teru was completely unaware of the situation that other espers existed and it seems ONE also introduced his character as a total narcissist who is completely ignorant of other "Fishes" in the "big pond" but as the story progressed, ONE needed a character who knows something about Claw so the fight against the 7th division in finale of S1 could take place. And Teru was a perfect choice for that.
Teru is exactly polar opposite to Mob and even he addressed this state during his fight with Mob. He is confident in life, gets good grades, respected among his peers and considered as the "Strongest" all due to his psychics powers. He has No individual identity in life minus his psychic power. Mob does realize that and tries to correct them. Just like everyone Teru thought these powers he is born with makes him more "special" and tries to show his "superiority" and later on develops a "God" complex. What was his motive before Mob entered his life?
TERU- DREAMS AND AMBITIONS
Imo, it's about becoming more and more popular and getting treated as a "God" among various schools and this ambition will only rise and rise and the limit to his dream is...well we don't know?
And I would want to highlight the similarity between Dimple, Suzuki and Teru. Both Dimple and Teru wanted to use their powers to become the absolute. They wanted their powers to have the "power" and showcase their "superiority" over the others. You see the fight between Teru and God dimple in s3 and realize it has the same themes as that of Teru vs Mob first fight. Teru wanted to become the main "protagonist" of everyone's life around him as a middle schooler...now imagine how this ambition will grow when he will enter to the "Real world' and see how there are more and more people "inferior" than him.
Teru imo would have exactly ended up like Suzuki. Both suzuki and Teru realized their powers in middle school and used their powers to showcase their superiority and developed into their personality and became "arrogant". Both of them treated someone with no power as inferior to them.
So, the background and his personality pre Mob fight and how "Dangerous" his personality pre mob fight was is established. Let's talk about the "fight"

TERU and CLAW- FEEDING HIS EGO AND GOD COMPLEX
Just after this point , I will talk about the main fight where Teru redeems himself and fight. But before that, It was established that Teru thought that there was no one like him and he was the only "one". Claw was wanting to try their absolute best to recruit them and always failed. This made Teru more and more "cocky". I mean just think about it ...you consider yourself as special and better than anyone else and some organization is looking after you to recruit them which will automatically make you feel special more right? I will take that as a YUP. Now, here's my theory before meeting Mob, Teru absolutely knew about espers and spirits and people like him exisiting but deep down, he was in a "denial" phase and he was able to curb and deny the fact that people like him exist due to him being " stronger" than everyone else. He knew about people other than him with psychic abilities existed but were way way weaker than him(artificial espers or children like the ones in awakening lab). You can say he likely thought Claw was made of artificial espers so that also increased his complex more and more too. Him clapping Members of Claw individually fed more and more into his god complex and ego and he was able to deny this fact more and more that someone way stronger exists. Similar to Suzuki who also thought that he was the strongest and to ensure that, used energies of other espers for 20+ yrs and became an "energy monster" like Sho himself said. Teru was a "big fish in a small pond" and this big fish knew that there was a bigger pond too deep down but due to him being the strongest in the "smaller pond", he denied the fact and lived in delusion that he was the "Strongest" even in the bigger pond.

TERU IS AVERAGE-"BIG FISH IN SMALL POND"
We have talked about the second point previously but there are some points left out too which I will discuss when I discuss the first point properly. Teru is average is what Mob taught him and Teru learnt.
Teru knew that Mob was stronger than him the very time they faced each other. How did I conclude this statement? Remember Teru sensing shimizaki and Prime Minister and also We have seen other espers sensing each other energy before like shimizaki sensed Mob. Teru was driven nuts when he saw everyone was fearing him but a bowl cut, cute(no homo) equal of his age middle schooler has 0 expression when he(Mob) saw Teru's power. Before his fight, Teru majority of time fought against school thugs and school gang wars and everyone when they saw Teru's power feared him made his ego and made him feel special grew more and more and more...Now, In midst of "another school fight" he is meeting someone who is not afraid of his psychic powers and this triggers Teru more and more. Remember in the dreams and ambition segment, I said how his main aim is to be the "main character of everyone's life" and how he mostly wants to be "popular among everyone else preferable girls considering he is hitting his puberty phase. Now, someone like Mob who he most prolly sensed someone of a "threat" which note he never sensed before fighting against anybody. Be it artificial espers or school gangs. He saw someone like Mob as a hinderance to his "dream". I mean, even we would feel jealous too right? Someone other than us exists with same powers which only few people are born with? Wouldn't this make him "less popular and cool" and ultimately crush his dreams? I think so yes. Lemme know yr thoughts about this too. So anyways, He clearly wants to establish his superiority over Mob so that he can still be the "main character and popular" in everyone's life. Seeing Mob holding back drives him crazy more and more and more. He uses everything in arsenal and tries to "kill him" so that Mob can finally use his 100% without holding back.
During this whole fight, Mob tries to explain the same way Reigen(absolute GOAT) tried to explain a kid Mob too. Mob was able to understand it but Teru with his deeper than ocean ego couldn't. And here, I would like to point another beautiful parallel and Mogami influence to Mob. In S2 finale, when Mogami is re introduced in climax, he says to Mob that "Sometimes you have to be strict and use violence to amend people." Mob applied this philosophy in his fight against Suzuki too. He was essentially trying to explain Suzuki the same way he wanted to explain Teru too. But unlike Teru ones, he knew he had to use violence to amend Suzuki because of Mogami influence. But atp when Teru was fighting Mob, Mob didn't think of this advice or this philosophy. Continuing from Teru's perspective, He is still denying and seeing someone other than him esper saying him as average. He is in serious denial phase.
Now I would like to point out Dimple too. Dimple was also the same like Teru. Both thought the power they had can make world revolve around them and both were quite in denial phase. That's why dimple phrased "Big fish living in small pond". I thought this was a plothole of Teru's reaction with Mob and his before connections with CLAW but after hearing Dimple opinion and how he sees himself inside Teru made me clear this up. Dimple was also deluded and was also in "denial phase" deep down just like Teru was.
After seeing Mob use his ??? form and seeing how he is just a "pawn", he developed a sense of admiration and respect for Mob and considered him as his "frenemy" and he grew to accept that he was average and there are others stronger than him too.

TERU- THE HOMIE
Couldn't come up with anything better. Teru after his fight saw his flaws in Ritsu and seeing him use his powers against others made him get a chance of redemption. Him saving Ritsu and destroying Claw 7th division alongside Dimple, Mob and Reigen strengthen his relationship with Ritsu and Mob.

Now, I would conclude the analysis here. A bit tired tbh as whenever I write a character analysis, I usually refer to manga or the wiki of the particular series but MP100 wiki is absolutely disappointment. Now, there are still 2 arcs remaining to conclude a proper Teru character analysis and that are God dimple(where we see a parallel to dimple and Teru first meet up where now Teru is the one acting the most "mature" and dimple acting like "Teru".) and ??? arc where he acts like Mob in their first fight saving everyone and ultimately redeems himself. I would write it and finish maybe in 1-2 days and begin writing maybe about Tome and Onigawara and Body Improvement Club.
Still, If you have some other points, pls write in comments. MP100 is a phenomenal series and I would love to discuss about it and incase I missed some points or you have an extra point, pls write in the comments.

2024.05.29 10:42 cjnnabar Am I a loser?

(cringe incoming)
I'm anticipating a lot of "cjnnabar! your self-worth isn't based off of college admissions!" and similar drivel, but please just hear me first and be honest (as honest as you can be with the rules, lol) about how you view me. I get the impression that most of the active members of this server are hard-working, high-achievers who look down on paltry profiles like mine.
I do not intend to bring others down with this post, most people are more than just grades and achievements. However, I don't have anything beyond those. And even what I had wasn't good enough.
I got rejected from UW-Seattle. As a first year in-state applicant. Not waitlisted -- rejected. A safety for many of you, but my dream school. Given my underwhelming profile and pitiful writing (no, I was not this negative in my personal statement), I should've expected it. I had basically no extracurriculars outside of two years of jazz ensemble and one summer of volunteering. No leadership positions. No AP or IB or honors classes, but I did do Running Start for two years, if that's worth anything. At the time of application, I think my unweighed GPA was about 3.8 (I recognize this could be interpreted as humblebrag. It is not. I am ashamed and believe I could've done better).
If I had gone through my freshman and sophomore years thinking about my future, maybe I wouldn't be in this position. I took no risks because I was afraid of ruining my GPA or looking stupid or wasting my time. My social skills and health atrophied for two years because I thought that obsessing over my GPA could save me from having no extracurriculars until my junior year. That's not to say that I worked hard, I spent most of my days in the algorithm because I was scared of doing my schoolwork or practicing my instrument or having a fucking hobby -- anything that challenged the image I had of myself as someone who never fails.
I thought going to UDub would save me -- that studying and living alongside (allegedly) driven and passionate students who managed to pass their would fix me, that I would finally be able to work hard and contribute to my community and be outgoing and learn about my culture and be passionate about things and be a proper person instead of the shameful creature I've been for the past few years. Even if I wasn't worthy to begin with, I would be worthy by the time that I left.
But now I'm going to one of my safeties with all the people who relaxed during their high school years, who may not have maintained a GPA above 3.5 or done advanced coursework (I sound so full of myself) but probably ended up learning more than I did anyways.
So tell me, am I a loser?

2024.05.29 10:12 totallynotsafe4work Almost got scammed by Online Legal India

I would like to remind everyone to first of all NEVER CLICK THE FIRST SEARCH RESULT of any google search especially the “sponsored” ones that you come across. Now that this is out of the way..
I was trying to lodge a consumer grievance complaint against a certain online store. I must mention that I have previously lodged a successful consumer complaint before for something else too in the past and even then the website was difficult for me to navigate through. Anyway, I clicked the first search result’s link which took me to a convincing enough website. It was difficult to navigate as well so it looked believable, I listed my mail and phone number to lodge a complaint but as I was writing the complaint I instantly got a call from Online Legal India.
The guy on the other end asked me what my issue was and I told him my problem so he was like ok so here is what’s going to happen. “An advocate will lodge a complaint on your behalf, you can also mention a certain amount that you would want the company to compensate you for the mental harassment that they caused you”. See the company didn’t “mentally harass me” by repeatedly ghosting my mails and complaints.. but hearing this statement was so weird and absurd. This was my 1st red flag.
He sent me a link on my sms and the link redirected me to a payment portal and I asked him what this is? He was explaining how I need to be the first to lodge this complaint otherwise someone else will claim the compensation amount, yada yada and he was really hell bent to get me to click on the “Pay Now” button. The red flags here were waving brighter than ever. But during all this, I still couldn’t understand why I needed to make any payment at all???
So far so good he was referring to me constantly as “ji” but when I asked him why I needed to even make this payment in the first place he kept explaining his policy I was genuinely not able to understand him which probably got him frustrated and he dropped the “ji” and ended the sentence with “samajh gayi?” Could it not get any obvious?
So I googled the exact keywords “Online Legal India is asking me for money” which lead me to quora and the first comment itself claimed they were fake. The man on the call was still yapping so I just cut the call mid-yap, no further questions asked. I’m glad I didn’t go ahead and make the payment and kept asking questions but as much as it is embarrassing for me to confess, I actually didn’t even have half the amount that the dude was trying to get out of me lol.
For whosoever it may concern, if you have genuine consumer grievances that you may want to lodge; I have attached the official INGRAM link. Lodging complaint is FREE of cost so beware of bad actors.
This is the official website by the Department of Consumer Affairs : https://consumerhelpline.gov.in
TLDR : The company named Online Legal India almost scammed me by pretending to be a Consumer Support Portal

2024.05.29 10:11 Ok_Designer6500 need to compare files code has saved

code it set to monitor a website for changes. i would like the code to compare the files it saves from old_main_images against the files from new_main_images
url it gets = https://website/oc-content/uploads/208/2282881.jpg
the code saves the images from the urls as 2282881.jpg but every time a new image is added the url changes so the new file would be 2284512.jpg but the image it self would be same, have confirmed it.
question is how can i get the code to get me one image from the the new images it has saved and compare that single image against all the old images it has saved. and if there is a match from that new image against the old it would skip that image and go to the next new image it has saved and if there is no matches in that image, then it would get the url of that new image which has no matches and send it so me on discord. discord does not allow the sending of images using webhook, however you can send urls
old_main_images = [] for item in main_images_inital: url = item.__getattr__('href') old_main_images.append(url) while True: new_main_images = [] for item in main_image: url = item.__getattr__('href') new_main_images.append(url) new_main_url = {} old_main_url = {} if old_main_images != new_main_images: for url in old_main_images: response = requests.get(url) if response.status_code == 200: filename = url.split('/')[-1] with open(filename, 'wb') as file: file.write(response.content) old_main_url[filename] = url for url in new_main_images: response = requests.get(url) if response.status_code == 200: filename = url.split('/')[-1] with open(filename,'wb') as file: file.write(response.content) new_main_url[filename] = url #how do i compare at this point

2024.05.29 10:09 SubstantialBobcat711 Psychology Research Study- ‘Toxic Masculinity’, substance misuse and the barriers to mental health help

Reposting as I am still looking for participants:
Hi all, I work across Fareham and Gosport in England as a mental health practitioner and am completing a masters in psychology, and was wondering if anybody would be interested in participating? The study has been ethically approved by Northumbria University. I would ideally need participants in England so that I can signpost to support groups if needed.
Please see below:
—————————
Research: Toxic masculinity- drug use as an alternative to accessing mental health help, a qualitative study
I am a Psychology (MSc) student of the University of Northumbria. I plan to write my thesis focusing on exploring the relationships between barriers to mental health help and substance use, and how toxic masculinity can be a factor of these. For the purpose of this study, ‘Toxic Masculinity’ refers to the negative affects of societal expectations that are placed on men, and how this affects their mental health.
Previous studies have shown that toxic masculinity can lead to mental health issues and has a positive correlation to substance misuse. What I plan to explore is whether people use substances as an alternative to seeking mental health help and how toxic masculinity plays a role in this.
If you are male, have a history of substance misuse and have suffered with your mental health, I would very much like to hear your story and be able to add to the current research in regards to the issues highlighted above.
Your role will include a semi-structured interview that will take about 30-60 minutes, via Microsoft Teams.
This study and its protocol have received full ethical approval from Northumbria University College of Reviewers, reference number: Thomas 2023-5508-5421. If you require confirmation of this, or if you have any concerns or worries concerning this research, or if you wish to register a complaint, please contact: nick.neave@northumbria.ac.uk.
If you would like to take part in the study, or would like more information, then please email me at sonia.thomas@northumbria.ac.uk.

2024.05.29 09:53 Miss_Magpie93 Will PIP claimant see all supporting documents?

Hi there! I'm in the process of helping my father apply for PIP. I'd like to write a supporting statement to send off with his forms but the content will be emotionally damaging to him. I plan to explain in a letter to the assessors how my dad's challenging behaviour due to his mental health has caused many of his children to distance themselves from him and strained the relationships. My dad is unaware of his role in this.
Will my dad be shown this letter? Should I ask that they not mention it to him?
Thanks for any input you can give. I want to be able to give the fullest picture of my dad's condition but filling the form in together has been distressing enough already for both of us.

2024.05.29 09:43 CautiousLoudSpeech How I would’ve made episode 100 good

Okay, so episode 100 wasn’t great, and it’s kind of emblematic of the series’s overall problems as of late, but I think there were a lot of solid ideas that were poorly executed in the writing and some solid scenes and acting beats that made for a decent directorial debut for Daniel.
I like the idea of the episode being a “greatest hits” type thing looking back on the show’s history with callbacks and references to earlier seasons and recreations of iconic moments from those seasons. The four fields motif is such a cool idea. I don’t even mind the episode partially being a glorified clip show. With their budget restrictions, I can see it being necessary. Power Rangers did a similar thing with their 500th for budget reasons and still came out with a really good episode. Legacy Of Power is proof you can do a clip show creatively and effectively.
I think this episode should’ve leaned into that aspect more and focused entirely on Spencer and his relationship with the rest of the cast. The Miko case can take a back seat for an episode, and the Jordayla stuff is cute, but the surprise wedding thing is dumb. I would’ve just had her go all in on doing the wedding planning solo when she senses Jordan backing off from it and maybe trying to push up the date with the planners until Jordan finds out, and they have that super wholesome conversation at the end.
The dream sequence with Shawn is awesome. His return was a surprise to me. I wanted a little more creativity in the cinematography. Some color grading, dynamic lighting, maybe a dolly zoom. Asher’s dream sequence did this really well. There was a surreal atmosphere to it. Dream sequences are where you get to just go crazy as a writer and a director. No rules. No continuity. You get to freely explore your character and use any means to make the statement you wanna make about them.
The purpose of this dream is to highlight the pressure Spencer feels as a representative of his community in Crenshaw at this stage of his football career now that the NFL, his number one goal since episode one, is within arms reach, and his arc in the episode is going from that to realizing through Shawn that Crenshaw has been there for him throughout this journey as much as he’s been there for them, and that his community is an ally and asset to his dreams and not just a responsibility. (This could’ve made for some nice callbacks to Spencer’s arguments with Billy in season one about needing a way out and his community being a burden. Good excuse to use those clips too)
I would’ve started the episode “during the national championship”. Spencer takes a hit. He’s on the ground. Looks injured. Maybe even clutches the shoulder he got shot in. Then we get the scene with Shawn. Skip over the part where they both acknowledge they’re in a dream. I want maximum audience confusion at this point. Spencer is still in his GAU uniform when Shawn picks him up. We get the “don’t you got somewhere more important to be?” line from Shawn. Spencer says “what?” Close up shot on him. He’s wearing his pee wee uniform. Zoom out. Shawn is gone. Spencer looks behind him. We see that stampede of kids. He starts running. We can transition into the flashback of kid Spencer from season one running to the end zone, but this time, he keeps running because we film new footage of kid Spencer running from the other players which is shot from the side. This way we can hide that it’s not the same actor from season one. Transition to the same shot but with teen Spencer in his Beverly uniform, and then his Crenshaw uniform. It’s kinda like the Thor growing up scene from Love and Thunder. In each scene transition, he runs faster, and there’s fewer people behind him to visualize him running from his community which isn’t what he’s doing per se, but it’s what he’s afraid of doing.
He wakes up, and most of the episode is the same, sans the coop legal stuff. I’d also add in a Corey grave scene after the first three field scenes. In the original episode, Layla talks to coop at the Baker house which triggers the wedding stuff. In my version, I want a scene with her and Spencer at the Rose Bowl the night before the national championship. This is a callback and kind of a payoff to their Rose Bowl scene from season one. Let’s say Spencer asks her to come to the stadium with him after he visits the other fields so that he can get some more clarity on what he’s feeling. This is a platonic Spayla moment, not a romantic one. They’re still friends, and I hate that we don’t get to see them interact much anymore. She was the closest person to him at the start of his journey. Surely she can help him find some of the answers he needs.
She can be the first one to get him to open up about the weight of Crenshaw being on his shoulders going into this game. She can tell him how she didn’t really understand when they were together why he always carried that weight with him, especially when it came to football, but now that she has a club in Crenshaw and has spent time there and tried to build up the hip hop scene there and integrated herself into the community, she understands better what it means to him. We can flash back to their argument from just before the state championship game junior year. After that, she can ask him what the scariest thing he’s ever done is. He says jumping in front of the bullet to save Olivia. Then they have the same conversation Layla and Coop originally had which triggers the wedding stuff. If we have time for it, Spencer can try to apologize for how messy their breakup was, and she can tell him that it was a long time ago and that she’s already forgiven him. We never got to see that resolution between them, so this feels like a good place for it.
The second Billy Baker Field scene is the same except, after Chris says “you’re playing for all of us”, we flash back to Spencer’s division player of the year speech.
Before the game, I want a scene with Spencer and Jordan on the bus. Just a quick little scene of them hyping each other up and talking about how far they’ve come together. It’s an homage to their bus scene from the season one finale.
Asher playing in this game is a great payoff to an arc that was really poorly set up. Asher should’ve started wanting to play again at the end of season 5, trained during the one year time skip, and received a backup spot on the roster at the start of the season only to decide against playing because of Jaimie’s reservations. If that’s how they did it, you could change almost none of the Asher stuff in this episode, and it would’ve been great. Jaimie and AJ should be at the game with him, and when he walks out in full gear, she should be there to support his decision before he steps out onto the field. The injury fakeout was really poorly done. They’ve already done this scene better with Spencer at the jamboree game in season 2. It should’ve been a shot for shot remake of that scene.
The rest of the episode can be the exact same. I love that the final touchdown is an homage to Spencer and Jordan’s first touchdown but with the roles reversed, and everything after the game is good as is.

2024.05.29 09:09 Rude_Willingness8912 The Real Truth of the RFK assassination.

The original story of the death of RFK is shrouded with cover-up, lies, and corruption. This is a collection of evidence I’ve gathered that proves beyond a reasonable doubt a conspiracy to kill Robert F. Kennedy.
The bullet that killed RFK was fired from his right backside at an upward angle, and no witness in the vicinity said Sirhan was closer than 3-4 feet, with most saying around 6 feet. The way Kennedy was standing, facing Sirhan, makes it impossible for Sirhan to have shot him in that manner. witnesses stated the gunfire sounded like a machine gun, and said they had a hard time believing it was from one gun. The medical evidence, meticulously documented by Dr. Thomas Noguchi, the coroner who conducted the autopsy, showed that the fatal shots came from behind and 1 inch away, this automatically shows that Sirhan couldn’t have shot Robert Kennedy, but this is only the first thing. Dr. Noguchi, wrote a book on it calling it the perfect autopsy because it was. He was supervised by lots of different professional experts in autopsies. He saw what happened to JFK's body by the government and media, They didn't allow him to testify in the trial and then they ran a smear campaign against him for saying the bullets came from back right and upwards. He was then fired from his job.
Sirhan fired two bullets, one hitting a man and another hitting a frame behind RFK. He was then abruptly subdued and fired six more shots, which are all accounted for, hitting five different people, with two shots lodging in the ceiling panel and one in the frame. That gives us eight shots not accounting for the four that hit RFK. How is this possible with an eight-shot revolver? It's not. Audio recordings of the shooting have been examined by multiple experts, who concluded that 10-12 shots were fired.
The LAPD tampered with evidence; they removed the frame that clearly had a bullet, as well as the ceiling panels that were hit. This is supported by witness testimony and photographic evidence. The LAPD later stated that the evidence was taking up too much space—a flimsy excuse to blatantly cover up and hide the facts. Former FBI agent William Bailey supported the evidence of bullet holes in the doorways, remembering two bullets in the doorframe and FBI photos proving this. In addition, 20 FBI officers reported seeing bullet fragments or bullet holes in the doorframe.
Sirhan was not given a fair trial. His mother recalls Sirhan asking the judge for a new lawyer and being told to sit down or he would be tied down. His lawyer decided to fight on the basis that Sirhan was mentally ill and in a hypnotic trance, and did not even try to dispute the evidence. For example, the gun that was allegedly used in the shooting was examined by a ballistics expert who stated it was the same gun that killed RFK, even though the serial numbers of the gun he tested and Sirhan's gun didn't match up. Not only did this prove the expert was willing to lie, also destroys the credibility of the LAPD investigation. There was also no chain of custody, which in a real trial would be inadmissible.
They bullied and intimidated a witness Sandra Serrano who claimed a woman in a polka dot dress and a man ran out on the stairs saying, "We killed him, we killed him." They bullied her on tape, making her change her story. Many other people recall seeing and talking to this polka-dot dress girl. Also, a police officer named Paul Shrager got told by a witness that the Polka-dot lady ran past with a man them saying we killed him, Paul later saw in a news report they changed what he said to They killed him. The LAPD claimed they found the polka-dot lady, but it was another person in a green dress, blonde, with crutches, who looked nothing like the person described by witnesses. David Morales, who pressured Sandra Serrano into changing her story about the polka dot lady, was known to have administered tests in South America, Vietnam, and other countries, suggesting ties to the CIA. Morales, drunk, bragged to friends, "I was in Dallas when we got that motherfucker, and I was in Los Angeles when we got the little bastard." He had a history of involvement in CIA operations on foreign soil, including a test on Venezuelan dictator Pérez Jiménez during a government transition.
Scott Enyart was taking pictures in the pantry where Kennedy was killed. He says he loaded and clicked off his third roll of film. He claims that later, during the night of the shooting, police officers chased him down and confiscated his camera and film. He later tried to get this back 6 months later but the police denied ever knowing about it until he contacted his lawyer, who got him 26 out of 36 film. In the missing film was pictures during the shooting more interesting Scott was right behind Thane Eugene Caesar, showing these pictures would show there was no conspiracy, but no the LAPD destroyed them . This was a very weird thing to do. Later, Scott sued, and a Los Angeles jury awarded Enyart $465,000 in his claim against the city. The jury believed that Enyart was in the pantry when Kennedy was shot and that he took three rolls of film. The city was found to be negligent in returning the photographs that the police had confiscated. The photographs have never been found. This is not the only two incidences in the LAPD destroyed 2,400 pieces of evidence as well as Scott Enyart photos 3 weeks before Sirhan's trial.
In addition, Sirhan used to hypnotize himself Sirhan received letters and payments from the Ancient Mystical Order of the Rose Cross. He was known to be the easiest type of person to hypnotize. He be hypnotized to climb the bars of his cell During the trial, psychiatrist Bernard Diamond hypnotized Sirhan, told him he was a monkey, and Sirhan started swinging from the bars of his jail cell and acting like a monkey. Bernard Diamond was a very shady UCLA professor who many believe was one of the main MKULTRA hypnotizers used by the govt. Under hypnosis, he wrote the same things found in his notepad at home: "RFK must die, die." suggesting he wrote in a trance these writings are eerily similar to what he wrote while under hypnosis. William Bryan, a CIA MKULTRA primary researcher and an expert in hypnotism, claimed you could brainwash a person to do almost anything. He allegedly bragged about programming Sirhan and deprogramming Albert DeSalvo, "the Boston Strangler." Sirhan's diary also mentions mind control, aswell as Sirhan writing, "God help me, please help me, Salvo di DeSalvo." Could this be a link between a known CIA hypnotist and Sirhan.
Sirhan was led to a dark place by a woman after drinking coffee with her. He last remembers feeling drowsy and disoriented. He found himself lying on a table, and then he felt someone choking him. This strange and disjointed memory suggests that Sirhan may have been drugged or kidnapped before the Assassination.
Sirhan, easily manipulated through hypnotic techniques and possibly drugged, might have been an easy target for such a conspiracy. His behavior after the arrest was strange, as if he were in a trance. He was described by witnesses as having an empty look, almost as if he were devoid of emotion or awareness of his surroundings. This is consistent with reports of individuals under deep hypnosis.
So after all this, you may ask who did it? It was Eugene Thane Caesar and the polka-dot dress girl. This is the evidence: Thane Caesar was a last-minute replacement as Kennedy’s body guard couldn't show up that day. the kitchen was constantly unguarded, and a Kennedy staffer said she had to keep getting people out of the kitchen, the person to guard the kitchen door was Thane Eugene Caesar, this is where Sirhan would’ve come from and was seen standing there before the shooting. Eugene was standing in the exact position someone would have had to be in to fire the fatal shot. A man and a woman claimed to see a security guard fire shots at Sirhan, and a witness said this in an interview immediately after the shooting. RFK's last conscious action was ripping Eugene's tie off—why would he do that? It could be dismissed as accidental if, and it's a big if, there wasn't an incompetent investigation by the LAPD on a second shooter, or why they didn't take Eugene's gun that he had on the night and didn't interview him for a year.
In that interview, he said he had a .22 same used in the shooting, which he sold before the shooting. This was confirmed to be false as there is a receipt showing he sold it months after to another man. Why would he lie about this? The LAPD said there were no right-wingers there on the night of the killing but guess who was our good friend Eugene. He said in an interview he didn't like Kennedy and was a Republican. Just a bit weird. Eugene was leading RFK down this route as the other path was deemed too crowded or unsafe in a last minute change. To clarify, Eugene was not the only one holding on to Kennedy. Eugene was a very weird person who had a top-secret clearance at Lockheed but was working as a security guard just doesn't make sense.
Also the court granted Thane Caesars wish not to testify.
How do you know this polka-dot lady was involved? Two witnesses stated she was saying, "We killed him, killed him." She was also seen trying to buy a gun and ammo with Sirhan and another man, and there is proof of the sale. in total, she was seen by 10 different people at the Ambassador Hotel.
So why would Sirhan do this? MKULTRA. Sirhan Sirhan was working as a horse trainer or whatever. He never rode horses, but one day he did and he got concussed. He was recorded as going into a Naval hospital for 1 hour and discharged. Sirhan states that he was there for weeks. After the fall, everyone who knew Sirhan said he was different after that fall. Sirhan disappeared for 3 months before the assassination as well, his mother stated.
“On a foggy morning on Sept. 25, 1966, Sirhan fell from a mare named Hy-Vera. “Sirhan was thrown against a metal post, where he lay crumpled, crying and bleeding,” wrote James McKinley. Sirhan later received a $2,000 settlement over the incident.”
Declassified documents have revealed that the CIA was actively monitoring Robert F. Kennedy and had operatives present at the Ambassador Hotel on the night of his assassination. Investigative journalist Shane O'Sullivan's research highlighted the presence of three men identified as former CIA operatives at the hotel, raising questions about their role and purpose that night. These operatives, including George Joannides, David Morales, and Gordon Campbell, were all connected to various covert CIA activities.
Lieutenant Manuel Peña, a key figure in charge of the investigation, left the LAPD shortly before the assassination to work in South America for the Agency for International Development (USAID), a widely known CIA front. Shortly before the assassination, he came back to the LAPD and was given command of the Special Division Investigation Squad in charge of conspiracies.
The possible involvement of the CIA and other intelligence agencies cannot be dismissed. The chaotic political climate of the 1960s, marked by the assassinations of major political figures like JFK, MLK, and RFK, The CIA, known for its covert operations and psychological experiments, had the means and motive to conduct such an operation.
Eugene Thane Cesar's role remains suspicious. He was in the perfect position to fire the fatal shots, and his conflicting statements about his firearm ownership add to the suspicion. Cesar's background with top-secret clearance at Lockheed and his animosity towards Kennedy suggest a deeper involvement. His presence in the pantry and the physical evidence pointing to shots fired from his location make him a prime suspect.
The polka dot dress woman remains a mysterious figure. Witnesses consistently reported her presence and her suspicious behavior. Her alleged statements about "killing him" and attempts to purchase firearms with Sirhan indicate her involvement in the conspiracy. Despite the LAPD's efforts to discredit witnesses and dismiss their accounts, the consistency of their testimonies cannot be ignored.
The destruction and tampering of evidence by the LAPD and FBI further deepen the conspiracy. The removal of door frames, ceiling panels, and the disappearance of crucial photographs suggest an intentional cover-up. Scott Enyart's case exemplifies the mishandling of evidence. His missing photographs, which could have provided critical insights into the events in the pantry.
In 1992, a petition to the grand jury requested the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the LAPD, signed by many figures, with 800 pages of evidence showing the LAPD destroying and falsifying evidence. Notable signatories included RFK assassination researchers rights activists, and legal experts. The petition outlined numerous instances of evidence tampering, witness intimidation, and procedural irregularities surrounding the investigation into RFK's assassination. It argued that a special prosecutor was necessary to conduct an impartial and thorough investigation into the LAPD's handling of the case, given the gravity of the allegations and the implications for justice and accountability. Despite the compelling evidence presented in the petition, no special prosecutor was appointed.
The involvement of intelligence agencies, the manipulation of evidence, the intimidation of witnesses, and the use of hypnotic techniques on Sirhan paint a picture of a complex and deep conspiracy. The possibility of mind control, as seen in the MKULTRA experiments, aligns with Sirhan's behaviour and writings. The presence of a second shooter, likely Eugene Thane Cesar, and the mysterious polka dot dress woman, make me believe beyond a reasonable doubt that Sirhan did not Kill Robert F. Kennedy alone.
TL;DR In conclusion, the evidence suggests that the parts of CIA, the LAPD, Eugene Thane Cesar, and the polka dot dress lady were part of a conspiracy to assassinate Robert F. Kennedy. The deliberate destruction of evidence, the manipulation of Sirhan through hypnosis, and the suspicious activities of key figures involved in the case point to a coordinated effort to eliminate Kennedy. The official narrative does not hold up against the substantial evidence of a second shooter and the involvement of intelligence agencies. After looking at all this evidence, no person could conclude any differently.
