What Causes Acne?
Acne is a common skin condition that affects millions of people worldwide, and it can be both physically and emotionally distressing. Understanding what causes acne is crucial in managing and treating it effectively. Dr. Neha Agrawal, renowned as the Best dermatologist in Mansarovar Jaipur, sheds light on the various factors that contribute to acne development and offers professional advice on how to tackle this persistent issue.

The Basics of Acne

Acne occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. This blockage leads to the formation of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and sometimes even deeper cysts or nodules. While acne is most commonly associated with adolescence, it can affect individuals of all ages.

Key Causes of Acne

1. Hormonal Changes Hormonal fluctuations, especially during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause, can trigger acne. Androgens, a group of hormones, increase the size and activity of sebaceous (oil) glands, leading to more oil production and clogged pores.
2. Excess Oil Production Overactive sebaceous glands produce excess oil (sebum), which combines with dead skin cells to form a plug in the follicle. This environment is ideal for the growth of acne-causing bacteria.
3. Bacteria The bacteria *Propionibacterium acnes* (P. acnes) naturally live on the skin. When pores are blocked, these bacteria multiply rapidly, causing inflammation and leading to acne.

4. Dead Skin Cells Normally, dead skin cells are shed and carried to the skin’s surface by sebum. However, in people with acne, these cells are not shed effectively and become trapped within the hair follicles.
5. Diet Certain foods, particularly those high in refined sugars and dairy products, may exacerbate acne. While the connection between diet and acne is still being studied, many people find that their skin improves with a balanced diet.
6. Stress Stress doesn’t directly cause acne, but it can worsen existing conditions. Stress triggers the release of cortisol, a hormone that can increase oil production and lead to more breakouts.
7. Cosmetic Products Some skincare and cosmetic products can clog pores, contributing to the formation of acne. It is essential to use non-comedogenic and oil-free products to prevent this.

How to Manage Acne

Dr. Neha Agrawal, the best dermatologist in Jaipur, offers the following tips for managing and preventing acne:
- Maintain a Consistent Skincare Routine Cleanse your face twice daily with a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser to remove excess oil and impurities.
- Avoid Touching Your Face Your hands carry bacteria and dirt, which can exacerbate acne when transferred to your face.
- Choose the Right Products Use skincare and cosmetic products labeled as non-comedogenic and oil-free. Look for ingredients like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and retinoids.
- Healthy Diet Opt for a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains while limiting sugary and dairy-rich foods.
- Consult a Dermatologist If over-the-counter treatments don’t work, consult a dermatologist. Professional treatments, such as prescription medications, chemical peels, and laser therapy, can provide significant improvement.

Conclusion

Acne is a multifaceted condition influenced by various factors, including hormones, bacteria, and lifestyle choices. By understanding these causes, you can take proactive steps to manage and reduce acne effectively. For personalized advice and advanced treatments, consider consulting Dr. Neha Agrawal, the best dermatologist in Jaipur, who has extensive experience in helping patients achieve clear and healthy skin.

End of season matchmaking.
I know it's end of the season, but really wish moonton implemented some type of parameter to avoid people climbing ranks and MMR by losing. These days you can't trust neither rank nor héroes MMR. You can reach MG just by being carried (his grade average is 3.7-5.4, that's Silver at most) and I've seen "top province" and even globals just because of spamming heroes with 50-52% wr.

2024.06.10 04:14 Dry_Honeydew_9556 ADHD and anxiety

Does anyone else feel really anxious/ straight up weird after 3 ish hours of taking vyvanse? Like say I took my vyvanse at 5 am, from 8am- 11am I feel so weird. I don’t even want to speak to my family because I feel like I’m saying weird/ the wrong things. Sounds are too overstimulating. And my body/ mind just feels WEIRD.
I will clarify that I have been recently diagnosed with adhd, started at 20mg, then 30mg and now I take 40 mg. I take my pill at 5 am. Go back to sleep until 7 and then drink a protein shake and eat a handful of raisens (to regulate my blood sugar) and then begin my day. Even though I take the protein and level my blood sugar, I still feel off for those few hours. I don’t want to go lower in dosage as 40 mg is the only thing that can get me through the day without crashing at 3pm.
If anyone has any idea why this happens to me or has their own story please share.

I was just wondering if anyone on Zyprexa has tapered down one increment of medication dose? I am currently on 7.5 and have been finding myself very low energy. Was wanting to try 5 mg but from a gradual taper. Has anyone been successful or is this a terrible idea?

2024.06.10 03:31 AnotherRedditGuy813 Klonopin/Clonazepam (benzodiazepines) - Thoughts on use/overuse.

Firstly: I'm not treating any of this as medical advice and you shouldn't either, but I was just wondering peoples' perspectives on how stuff like benzos should be treated - Like do you take them only for emergencies, or do you think it's okay to take them somewhat regularly? Do you think that the amount you're taking can vary depending on whether you're going through a particularly troubling time in life, or do you think you should keep with a strict regiment?
I ask because I got the stuff prescribed like 2 months ago (20 of the 0.5 mg tabs), and I still have 7 left. Do the math, that's a bit under 7 per month. Today I felt particularly terrible so it's the first day I've used two doses in one day.
I guess why I ask is because I am so damned concerned with using the stuff, I'm probably not using it everytime I should be - The stigma around this stuff is quite ingrained in me. I don't use it in any capacity for the high (in fact, I can barely tell the difference when I do take it), but it's not doing me any favors feeling shame/guilt whenever I do need to take it.
The two things that I'm trying to keep in mind were sentiments I heard from others:
1) There's many people who have been on benzos daily for years, so I should not feel bad if/when I need to take my first dose in several days.
2) I've heard that it's acceptable to vary meds like these where some points in your life you're taking it several times a week, then some points in your life you're taking them like twice a month. I've heard many people have done that and have been just fine with switching between those when the waters get rough.
So, yeah - I guess if anyone has any insight or personal experience, I'm all ears. These meds are very helpful, but it's just annoying that I feel bad anytime I have to resort to using them...

I wasn’t allowed to leave for 7 days. Therapy sessions were promised, there was even a whole schedule of activities on the wall of the mental ward, but none of it happened. My days consisted of sleeping on an uncomfortable mattress on the ground, walking up and down the hallway, and eating awful small meals. I haven’t paid my bill.

2024.06.10 02:11 Logical_Act_6927 Randomly feel on the verge of fainting in the middle of the day?

Hi! Im a 19 year old girl, 5’5 and 135 lbs. I drink a pretty good amount of water and eat relatively healthy, making sure to get enough greens, fruit, and protein. I have diagnosed ADHD, and have been taking 70 mg for around 7 months, but have been experiencing these symptoms longer. I also have been diagnosed with depression, but do take any medication for that.
I don’t usually go out for extended periods of time, and that’s because i get very very tired by the 1-2 hour mark. My stomach starts to hurt really bad (feeling of ‘heaviness’ and severe bloating)and i get a terrible headache/feel nauseous, but i usually am able to ignore it.
However, when in out for over 3 hours, I consistently feel horrible to the point of almost fainting. I’ll get extremely nauseous and my vision will start to fade out, i get an even worse horrible and extreme dizziness, and just feel extremely exhausted. I also get this weird warm pins and needles sensation in random parts of my body, but usually on the top of my head, my fingertips, and my lips.
It’s so frustrating because I can barely be outside for more than an hour without feeling terrible, and feel even worse if i’m out for just a couple more hours. I’ve never actually fainted before from these symptoms, but that’s usually because I will leave my friends to find a table and sleep, and if i can’t find a table, i will just sit anywhere in the floor. i believe if i did care about my dignity, I would’ve definitely collapsed several times by now. When i get home, im still very exhausted and can’t do much other than sleep. If anyone could help, i’d really appreciate it!

2024.06.10 01:28 moanablue Metformin newbie question

I have been taking 500 mg ER metformin for 12 days now, and honestly things are going fairly well. I do not have any of the bathroom issues that have been described by others. What has been happening the past few days though is that I will feel fine and then all of a sudden get a 2-4 second head swirl (dizziness/vertigo) and when it goes away I feel tired, a bit nauseous, and sometimes shaky. I have pretty bad medical anxiety, so I am looking for feedback for if this is normal? And if so, how long before you get through to the other side?
I have changed my diet pretty significantly since being diagnosed back in April. Low carb, low calorie, higher protein/fiber, and have been consistently losing weight too. A1C at diagnosis was 7.1, and in May was down to 6.5. With the medical anxiety is hard for me to tell what is maybe because of the metformin and what is just my anxiety about it going haywire (yes, I am on anti-anxiety meds).

7 Steps to Reduce Hair Fall and Boost Hair Health
Hair fall can be a distressing issue, affecting both your confidence and appearance. But hey, don’t lose hope just yet! There are practical and effective steps you can take to reduce hair fall and promote healthier, stronger hair. In this post, we’ll dive into 7 powerful steps, including the magic of hair masks, to help you combat hair fall. Let’s get started on your journey to luscious locks!
https://preview.redd.it/f5ihahpi7m5d1.jpg?width=5760&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=332c511980d5315a14d57de8d1e543e1ff712be0

1. Nourish Your Hair from Within

Your diet plays a crucial role in the health of your hair. Ensure you’re getting plenty of essential vitamins and minerals:
  • Proteins: Eggs, nuts, and lean meats help build strong hair.
  • Iron: Found in spinach, lentils, and red meat, iron deficiency can lead to hair loss.
  • Vitamins: Vitamins A, C, D, and E are vital for hair health, available in fruits, vegetables, and dairy. Also, include vitamin B6, B12, Fish Oil (Omega 3), and Biotin.
Eating a balanced diet rich in these nutrients can significantly reduce hair fall.

2. Maintain a Healthy Hair Care Routine

How you treat your hair on a daily basis matters. Here are some tips:
  • Gentle Washing: Use a mild shampoo and avoid over-washing.
  • Conditioning: Always follow with a conditioner to keep your hair hydrated.
  • Pat Dry: Gently pat your hair dry with a towel instead of rubbing it harshly.
Regular, gentle care helps maintain hair strength and reduces breakage.

3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Staying hydrated is key to healthy hair. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your hair and scalp hydrated. Dehydration can make your hair dry and brittle, leading to increased hair fall.

4. Scalp Massages

Regular scalp massages can improve blood circulation to your hair follicles. This not only strengthens the roots but also promotes hair growth. Use natural oils like coconut oil or almond oil for the massage:
  • Warm the oil slightly.
  • Apply it to your scalp.
  • Gently massage in circular motions for 10–15 minutes.
Do this once or twice a week for the best results.

5. Avoid Heat and Chemical Damage

Heat styling and chemical treatments can wreak havoc on your hair. Here’s how to minimize the damage:
  • Limit Use: Reduce the use of hair dryers, straighteners, and curling irons.
  • Heat Protectants: Always apply a heat protectant spray before styling.
  • Chemical Treatments: Try to avoid harsh chemical treatments like bleaching and perming.
These precautions can prevent hair damage and reduce hair fall.

  • Adequate Sleep: Ensure you get 7–8 hours of sleep every night.

2024.06.09 22:54 runrunrun246 Second FET Fail

TW: Chemical pregnancy mentioned
Looking for some advice on next steps. I never got my period after having my IUD removed in February 2022. I’m an avid runner and have a low (but still normal) BMI, so the initial diagnosis was hypothalamic amenorrhea. We did six rounds of oral drugs and had many cycle where I either didn’t respond at all, or over-responded (I developed 6+ large follicles twice at low Clomid doses). I also cut back running and gained weight.
We moved on to IVF in September. We never got a definitive diagnosis and doc has gone back and forth between lean PCOS, HA, and unexplained annovulation. Doc started me at very low dose of Menopur and didn’t really start ramping me up until I had no response and my estrogen was still below 50 4 days into Menopur. Ended up stimming for 15 days. Had 18 large follicles two days before the retrieval, but they only retrieved 11 eggs. 8 fertilized and we ended up with two Good blastocysts and two Fair. We’re fairly young (31) and didn’t do PGT-A testing as doc didn’t think it was necessary.
Transferred the first Good embryo (AB rating) in February and it didn’t implant at all, though lining was thin (6.5 week before FET). Transferred the remaining good (BB) embryo in May and I got a positive test 4 days later, but HCG was 101 on day 10 and 108 on day 12. Lining as 7.5 week before FET.
We’re gutted and ready to transfer the two remaining embryos at once and prepare for another retrieval, but I’m also wondering if we should push for more testing. Doc seems to think that this is just bad luck and maybe it is, but wanted to see if anyone had thoughts.
Thanks for reading my novel. Sorry that we’re all here, but glad that I found this group.
