2024.05.29 05:26 CastIronMystic Can anyone help me remember the name of this company?

I am needing to remember the name of a company I worked at in 2016 for like one month. To get there I had to drive from Morse Road, through Linden and it was like maybe downtown? The company did home remodels or installations but the job itself was in a basement of a building and was appointment setting. So calling to set up free estimates. The company advertised a lot on Craigslist. They had a “storefront” inside Walmart to show off their remodels or installation things. Home Something maybe? It used to be if you are on Craigslist jobs you would see them posting everywhere. The company also had a sister company in Kentucky. I can’t remember anything else but there was a gumbo restaurant within walking distance. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

KLR story time! This is lengthy war story so TLDR months ago I posted having found something in oil screen, soon after engine blew , I replaced the motor and have just now opened the old one and have confirmed that it was a piston circlip from previous owners big bore kit
As title says, This isnt a cautionary tale so much as a war story for the sake of it and to add to the wealth of knowledge on these bikes a story of… a curious thing that happened. XD That’s to say this isn’t a thing many will ever encounter, nor something one should ever worry about, but something that might make you say “hmm… neat” 😂
That being said this is a story of how I killed the unkillable, or I guess at least gave a KLR a heart transplant after complete cardiac arrest. The interesting journey of what happened, but I do not truly know how. So maybe some more seasoned KLR surgeons can offer additional insight into the how. I had considered breaking this up into the story and just the mechanical aspects for those not interested in the story, but the motivation here is the story and so that’s the read, enjoy 😀
About 8 months ago I bought a ‘09 KLR as my first bike. I’m an over the road truck driver and have always dreamed of putting a motorcycle on my rig, and decided at a fork in my life that it was time. It had 28k miles on it, amazing shape, very few mods, all ones that I considered valuable as I would have done them myself. Crash bars, metal skid plate, panniers with very nice Givi cases, Sargent seat, etc. The curious bit was a big bore up to 683. I did not ask what mileage it had been bored at or if it was done for maintenance reasons or just performance. In retrospect I would have asked these questions but that’s out of curiosity not because I believe to any degree the seller was misleading me. I do not believe they had any idea the events that followed would conspire and I accept them as just bad luck. What did follow is in the first 3 weeks I put nearly 900 miles on it and had only encountered a single issue which was the clutch slipping too easily under heavy acceleration. As one does with a KLR I had already ordered and done a slew of other personalization so I added new clutch plates and heavier springs to the list. Job went smoothly, the old clutch plates were worn but not to any degree that alone would warrant the slipping so the weak springs were the culprit as my research had strongly suggested. But new “performance” clutch plates sounded fun so I installed them as well 😀
This is where things get interesting. As some may know, on the right side of the engine there is an oil screen, a fine metal mesh that acts as a filter to catch larger particles. Definitely something to clean if you’re ever in there, as it’ll tend to have any gasket material and other manufacturing run off in it that over time could choke oil flow. In mine I found the expected gasket gunk, suggesting it had not been cleaned since birth but frighteningly I also found 2 mysterious metal pieces that appeared to be the greater part of a metal ring. Reference the 1st photo. They had been chewed up slightly suggesting they made their way through the engine less than smoothly but not catastrophically obviously as the motor ran fine with no signs of any problems. I spent the better part of the day digging through any and every resource I could find for an answer on what this ring could be and the further I dug the more and more confident I grew in my initial suspicions that it was a piston circlip… but this just didn’t make sense, how did it get there? How was it not more destroyed? How was the engine still running with zero indication of damage? The sun was setting and I had to be on the road in the morning so after weighing all the possibilities I decided to button it back up, hope for the best, and tell myself if it was fine before it’s fine now. As the alternative was tearing apart the engine which meant going back out on the road with no bike, and no idea where to even start weeks later when I returned. Of the many theories the one I convinced myself of was that this was indeed a piston circlip but not one from the current piston but from the original one. That the mechanic that had done the big bore had either snapped it when removing the original piston and it fell down in the engine to never be fished out, or maybe it had been the reason for the bore. 2 days later I get it out for the first time since the quick 5 mile test ride after putting it back together and my theory is proven wrong, violently. About 80 miles later I was enjoying the bite of the new clutch, accelerating hard through 50mph and bam instantly the rear wheel locks up. At this point I had just under 1000 miles under my belt on two wheels, no MSF completely self taught…. Holy shiet that was a bad thing nearly gone horrible. I don’t know how I had the muscle memory at that point to instinctively grab the clutch but I did fractions of a second before I went down, hard. As I coasted to a stop on what little shoulder there was my thoughts were “holyshitholyshitholyshitholyshit….Ohhhhhhhhh it was a piston circlip” before I even stopped 😂😂😂 Sure enough I look back to a trail of oil behind me, dismount and out of the front of the block I see a very displeased connnecting rod peeking out. Well, there’s your problem. I took a gamble and initially I was feeling like I had lost, but after not getting taken out with the engine, I was pretty okay with the situation. I rolled the bike into a church parking lot a couple blocks down the road and helplessly called for ride after ride on Uber to no avail. I was states away from anyone I knew and too far from any civilization to find luck with any ride share or cab service. As it started to get dark the 6 mile hike back to my truck in Mx Boots was not a great outlook but I was out of options. Just as I had buttoned up what I could on the bike getting ready to start walking I noticed an older couple sit down on their porch enjoying what was, to anyone else, admittedly a very pleasant evening. I’m shy as hell and absolutely terrified of being imposing, especially when it’s a true need… but these boots were brand new, zero flex, damn near knee high… just from standing there I was on the fence of what would be worse, boots or socks. So I mustered up the will power to make my way to their front yard and explain that my motorcycle had broken down and that I had no way to get back to my truck to come back and get it, if they’d be willing to give me a ride I’d happily pay for the trouble. They happily obliged and were the nicest folks you could have met, asked me about my travels and wished me luck in getting it back together, wouldn’t even accept my money. They drop me off, I get my rig back over there and load up the bike. They waved me off from their porch and that was that. I know that bit doesn’t pertain to the mechanical endeavor but I wanted to share it as well as an appreciation of just how much generosity can change the outlook in things. I had bought this bike at a critical moment in my life, during a separation, unsure what direction I was going, and it by all means was my coping mechanism. Sitting there stranded, the adrenaline started to wear off and the dread and hopelessness started to develop… the 6 mile walk back, nothing by my thoughts torturing myself for the dumb decisions I made would have left me feeling defeated and lost. But instead I got to share a tiny bit of my story, that it was still chaos but I was… proud of myself for chasing after my dreams not letting it consume me. And it was because of that moment of pride that I had the fuel to tuck tail and accept my circumstance, that I had indeed known this was a possibility and that it was not the end of my journey, just a different path. I believe without that I would have easily accepted the loss and dropped the bike off at home to gather dust and that would have been the end of my motorcycling experience. But I was determined. So I spent every minute of free time I had researching what I needed to rebuild it, what it’d cost, how hard it’d be, and if it was even something I could do over the road. As I added things up it was indeed doable but it’d leave the bike out of commission at best for well over a month… and I had a fire under me to get back on it… so I started digging through marketplace, eBay, Craigslist, etc searching for doner bikes or full engines. Scrounging up every penny I had, I booked a load and made my way all the way to Kansas City where I had found a salvager with a 2009 with just 1300 miles on it that was willing to take $1300 for the whole engine if I’d help him pull it. My determination was unwavering. I showed up at his house as early as I could after my delivery, about noon. My semi truck left on the street where it clearly did not belong 😂 It was a two lane and the right lane was conveniently closed, so I moved some cones and it worked out perfectly but was still a funny sight. He gathered bikes from auctions and had them scattered around his yard, and so while he gathered some stuff he pointed me to two other KLRs to see if there was anything I wanted from them. Ended up pulling a full yoshimura exhaust from one that he tossed in for cheap. Before I had gotten there he had already stripped the most of the bike with the doner engine down so it took us a little under an hour to pull it. Yet another really positive experience that I’ll never forget, really nice older guy who genuinely enjoyed wrenching on the bike with me, not just trying to get it done and get paid. Offered me any small bits like the rubber tank picks that would easily get lost for no charge. And even gave me an old Milwaukee battery charger he had laying around as I had lost my charger at some point and my last battery died while we were working on it. We had it out by 2pm and I heaved the enormous hunk of steel into my chest high passenger floor board of my semi truck to be on my way. And by on my way I mean 7 miles away to a Walmart parking lot where I then unloaded my bike and started the transplant. I gathered my tools while waiting for a Milwaukee battery to charge, caught my breath, and started the operation around 3pm. I was definitely a bit of a spectacle. Not everyday you see someone doing an engine swap in a Walmart parking lot. The semi truck parked alongside definitely added a layer that invoked enough curiosity for people to inquire about what they were looking at as they passed by. I enjoyed the conversation and that sense of pride grew ever stronger as I worked through it. Early on in the process another rider had briefly stopped by and asked if I needed help, I declined understanding he was inquiring if it was an emergency not if I needed a wrenching buddy haha. Over the course of the next 4 hours he passed by another 2 times, giving a nod of approval at my progress. I was fired up. So excited to get it all done, feeling like I’d be too tired to do anything else but driven just to know it was ready to ride whenever I was. All and all it took about 5 hours to get done, a few stuck bolts there, a few how the hell does this come out there, and a good bit of how does one finagle this thing back in here by themselves(ps lay it on its side right side and just set the engine down into the frame, stand up and then align it) and it was done. I had done some mechanical work on cars and what not in the past but honestly changing the clutch on the previous motor was the most invasive thing I had done prior to this. But my confidence was in the clouds, and rightfully so, because while it took some convincing with the starter this stagnant motor awoke with not a cough or a sputter, but with an immediate healthy growl! My excitement was immeasurable and my little KLR, now much more aggressively singing through the Yoshimura exhaust, seemed just as excited as me. The sun had set, I was exhausted and against my recommendation they had already booked me a load picking up early the next morning. But I couldn’t not sing through the streets with joy, so a quick ride I told myself…. I was gone for hours, returning well past midnight. Ripping around Kansas City, sobbing with joy, with what felt like the loudest exhaust I’d ever heard 😂😂😂 A true menace, she was alive and god damnit I was too.
Exhaustion catching up with me I loaded my precious back on to the truck and realized I still had an entire engine to deal with. So I opened one of my side bins, at chest height just as the floor board was earlier in the day loading the new engine. If I didn’t look like a maniac riding around I certainly did trying to get that motor up and into the truck 😂 I was too happy to be upset or anything but it was just about all I could muster to get it up to that height after the day I had had. 2am and I’m screaming, crying, and laughing simultaneously as I blew out every single part of my body trying to get this absolute brick of an engine into the side bin. While I know at that point I was significantly more worn out I still find it very funny that my sheer will power made that new engine effortless to lift into the truck, but the old one was an inch shy of being impossible 😂 Over 7000 miles later and that new motor is still singing happily ❤️
So… the old motor… it rode around in my side bin for 7 months till last week I was at home and finally had the free time to unload it and crack it open. Motivated by the interest of pulling the new clutch plates and springs I had put in it that’d only have about 80 miles on them, and the curiosity of figuring out if the seemingly obvious cause for its demise was indeed due to the piston circlip… breaking? This is where any KLR surgeons may be able to chime in, if they made it this far xD Because I pulled the motor down to just about as many pieces as one could so I could take the bits that may be useful to have on the road with me and have the less likely to fail ones ready to go if I needed them at home, and all of the evidence seems to suggest that one of the circlips did indeed get ingested. The piston is definitely missing one of the circlips, and… the entire part that would house it lol. The broken pieces found in the oil screen visually match the remaining circlip, and I never found any parts of the circlip if those pieces in the oil screen were not it. So… I have full confidence the circlip did indeed end up in the oil screen. The fact that I found it was complete coincidence and had I not changed the clutch out it likely would have failed just as it did, meaning that circlip could have been there for… lord knows how long… which raises the questions, how did that happen? How long could it have feasibly been there? And was this just a ticking time bomb bound to happen without warning at any time or did maybe the stress of a more aggressive clutch bite upset it? And also just… how does this happen in the first place? Improper install or weak components? I know the kit they used is from Schnitz Racing and I was told 683 but I’ve never seen a 683 kit, only 685 so I would assume maybe that, regardless not cheap parts so, just a curiosity.
Final notes, the new engine with 27k less miles absolutely feels more powerful than the bored out one did, that’s seat of the pants and inexperienced rider mixed with intense emotions but I still to this day think it’s more peppy. Have not installed the new clutch on the new motor yet but I’m curious as hell as I don’t think I had enough experience to really appreciate the difference for the 80 miles I got to use it lol.
Oh and as a trinket to remember this entire experience and to show my KLR is on its second heart I polished up the blown piston and hung it on the tail ❤️
Thank you for coming to my TED talk, stay safe out there!

2024.05.29 05:05 Recent-Accident8659 This one's always confused me and I would love some input- unemployment all time low

This happened probably a week before COVID closed everything down when I was working at a fast-casual restaurant in Denver, CO. For some background, fast casual in this case means you wait in line, order at a counter, get drinks and a number and find your own seat, but once you're sat a server will bring you food, refill your drinks, bus, etc. This particular location has an open kitchen so you can see everyone who is working both in FOH and BOH minus like the dishwasher.
It was probably within a few days of our restaurant opening that I was on the cash register on a Friday night and had the following interaction with a Boomer Man and his wife.
BM: Wow, there sure are a lot of people working here. Me: haha yep, we just opened. BM: how did you find this many people to work here? Me: Uhhhh I don't know. BM: how did you hear about this job? Me: I applied after seeing it advertised on Craigslist. BM: WOW, you all must have had a job fair or something. There's a lot of people working here. Me: well it is Friday night and we just opened so we are fully staffed right now. BM: I just can't believe you found so many people to work here. Considering unemployment is at an all time high. Wife: honey, stop. Me: .... BM: how did you guys find so many people to work here? No one wants to work at all these days. Wife: honey stop. Me (actually losing my mind at this point and the line is to the door): the cost of living in Denver is so high that most of us have two or three jobs in order to live here. BM (ignoring me completely): did you have a job fair? There's so many people working here. Me: like I said I don't know how my coworkers heard about the job but I found the ad on Craigslist. BM: unemployment is the highest it's ever been right now.
Finally they just grabbed their shit and sat down and I thanked my lucky stars that I wasn't serving on the floor that night so that I wouldn't have to talk to them anymore.
The wife was fine. But to this day I don't really understand what this man was getting at. It was pre-covid, within about a week of this place opening so the first round of quits/fires hadnt even taken place yet. Most of my coworkers had 2-3 jobs unless they had 3 roommates in a garbage house like I did. A lot of my coworkers had children and families to support. Not to mention this was a corporate company so they could afford to fully staff their restaurants at any given time along with paying us slightly above minimum wage + tips rather than the standard server wage.
There's really no winning, either your work is short staffed and you can't give them good enough service, or there are too many people working and it contradicts what fox news is telling them about unemployment at any given time.

2024.05.29 05:05 ChrisTrotterCO How much should I ask for my XPedition?

I got a Xpedition last December and I don't really need the cargo capacity and I hate no shocks so I am going to put it up on Craigslist or FB marketplace and get an XPress. What do you guys think would be a fair asking price? I hate people who try to sell used equipment and ask like 90% of the value.
I got the double battery model. With running boards and the cargo seat pads. Elite Headlight. Trailer hitch. Left and Right-side mirrors. Tanus Armor tire inserts on both tires. 2 chargers. 900 miles on the odo. Its not all scratched up or anything. So over all in great condition. Had it tuned up in April.

2024.05.29 03:34 Any-Willingness8436 What should I do now?

I need advice 9-1-1 I (f45) and my partner (m43) met 19 yrs ago through a mutual friend. It was love at first sight and we started talking and we both fell head over hills and decided to move in together since we couldn’t be apart for more than a week. We finally made the move and moved in together. He had a descent job and I was on the hunt for any kind of job. Since I had 2 daughters 9 and 5 at the time. He had 3 children m7 f5 and m of literally months. At the beginning it was bumpy but any new relationship is. It took about 10 yrs for our family to finally cope in between his family his ex and me with my daughters. A month into me moving with him 3 hrs away from my family he was laid off his job I had been looking for a job since day one so finally one day I found a job as a waitress working graveyard at a restaurant at a not safe area. I struggled since the biological father of my daughters cut ties after I moved he came to visit once or twice and then he vanished. We struggled financially for a long time. I was new on the online job search thing but I suggested he posted on Craigslist his painting since he’s a magnificent painter. It was a hit it. It went too good I left my job to help with the driving since it was mostly out of town. I got too bored that I asked to help him so it wouldn’t take too long. Our days were 10 hr days we did the murals for about 8 or 9 yrs. We argued constantly over simple things. So I told him I love him but I couldn’t do it any more. I started working from home doing clothing alterations it didn’t pay a lot but it helped. He then open a business selling and repairing video games and consoles it did good for a few yrs and he started an apprenticeship at a tattoo shop. He is very creating smart and extremely talented. I then started helping a friends mom doing alterations at her bridal shop that was next to an embroidery place that actually shared a room and the stomps of the machines hypnotized. As soon as there was a chance I got the opportunity to work there as well. I’ve been jumping from job to job to help with the expenses of the house and the shop my partner still owned. At his apprenticeship he had a slip and was fooling around with this other female it ended. He finally decided to close ip his shop bc it just wasn’t working. When he finished his apprenticeship he went on and decided to open his own shop. He got his keys December 2019. Most expenses fell on me since he had no income at the time. He was working very hard to get the place standing it was a mess he demolished painted installed plumbing electric the whole 9 yards. He opened his doors June 2020. We couldn’t be any happier. He is also a musician so he would get gigs all the time. I have to mention I was doing the house work the kids rides the cooking and when he needed me I was there all while I had 2 jobs I would take the kids to and from school and drop off my step kids too (I hate the word step kids) they’re my children too. Any how September 2020 he got this new gig job and by October same yr he didn’t want me to go see him play when he was blocks from home. He started acting weird like dressing differently and caring about his looks I had my suspicions but he would always tell me it was just in my head. I could see his call logs and I found out who he was talking to it was the lead singer of this new band. I confronted him and he said I was crazy. Ok. I kept seeing weird behaviors and talked to him about it since we are not legally married I offered to open a relationship since it would be months at a time w/o intimacy he said no cause nothing was happening. There were times he would take my car on a Sunday nights and act mad so he won’t come home. He ever told me once he couldn’t remember where he parked my car so he left it 2 hrs out of town which caused me to call off work many times. I was loosing my mind I knew something was wrong and I did everything to fix the situation. I decided to place a tracker in my car so he won’t have to strand it again. Next weened he took my car again and left it by the airport all night. I confronted him with pics of my car where he had left it and he admitted he carpooled with this other female that is married should I add. FF to may 17 2022 I got a hold of all his ig user names and passwords, he was talking to at least 6 females but I didn’t confronted him this time that day I had a terrible migraine and was feeling aweful I needed to rest my head and be calm so I went home he rejected me as if I was a piece of trash I sat up and told him it felt like he didn’t want to be with me so I asked him to leave he got up and he left. Right away he started dating this scumbag not the singer but this other person. He had a dinner date may 18th with a 26 yo and on and on. All in a span of 2 months after he left my home. We started talking again and we were fine I told him everything I felt and how much he had hurt me he told me I didn’t deserved that and no I don’t. When he moved out and finished fooling around he got this god and I loved her she was the sweetest dog. After my second job I would go to his place and puppy sat for him he would help me financially when I needed and things were working out it was like we were dating. September 2023 we got into a huge argument and things were bad I went zero contact for a month and it was bad. Until. He had one of his panic attacks and called me to take him to the er so did I saw the dog again and things were calm for over a month. By December same yr he gave me a check I couldn’t cash, on the 23rd I went to his place to return the check and give him his Xmas gift it was a large print of his dog on a makeup trip we did in march it wasn’t much but it was with so much love. He didn’t let me in to see the dog he said I was not welcomed he opened his door about an inch and the dog came out running to me. He called the cops on me I explained the situation and they talked ti us individually. I left and had Xmas eve with my children. I forgot to mention that my youngest f22 and his daughter f21 are currently living with me. Xmas day I was home alone and he calls me I pick up and it was him he was stressed he said that his dog was acting weird since Saturday she couldn’t bark she tried but was just wizzing we rushed her to a hospital 2 hrs away we came back without her she didn’t make it on our way back he told me that the day he called the cops on me she ran to his room sat in a corner and just looked down. He spend the rest of the week in my place I didn’t know what to do but be by him and help him. He decided to get another dog he just turned a yr I love that dog too. I’ve spent the night at his house every other night to help with the puppy while he works. I still had 2 jobs and his place is about 20 mins from mine. About 3 months ago he asked me to lend him some cash so he can get a car to play with so I did. 2 weeks ago my sister invited me to celebrate my nieces graduation and I asked him if our youngest had a date for his and he said no so I told my sister I was attending. Last Wednesday my kid told me he had a ceremony ticket for him and another one for me I arranged as crazy as it sounds to ask for Thursday off to drop off my daughter to my sisters which is 3 hrs away saw my mother for 20 or 25 mins and started my drive back because on Thursdays we take his dog to the street fair so by 1 pm I was back in town I took a quick nap and started getting ready for the fair. He calls me at 7 pm to ask if everything was ready I said yes I’m just getting his cooler ready we take ahi’s bowl a portion of kibble ice packs snacks and a spray bottle. I couldn’t find the spray bottle. I went to my car to check if it was there and I saw him pulling up in his truck I asked if he could come over and kept looking I check again and he walks right inside so I closed up and went in with him I told him I can’t find the spray bottle and he lost it he was cussing out the spray bottle and I was in shock I mean dollar tree has them we can replace it but he was mad at the bottle. He had been doing this same thing for 3 weeks he looses it and he goes into his bedroom extremely upset last time he was like that I let him know I can’t do these kinds of arguments they’re ridiculous. I told him I needed to go home with my dogs and I left. We have a mutual friend that has a dog like ours and that night he posted a pic of both dogs and the lost spray bottle was hanging from the side pocket of the wagon. I texted him Sunday so I could go see the dog and he said ok I spent an hr with I walked him and ate snacks then I left I called him yesterday and he said he had 2 walk ins so I visited the dog for 2 hrs walked him played with him and ate snacks. We both as an agreement we talked about me quitting my second job and puppy sit and he’d pay me what my second job did and so he can get hands on on his shop it’d be a win win it’s been very slow like scary slow and he needs to build his portfolio so we all happy. I talked to him about a bill I owe is 1200 and he said we’ll figure it out well it’s due today since things aren’t smooth I texted him and asked him to please call me he said about what I said about the dog and other things he asked is something wrong with the dog I said not really but we need to talk and he said there’s nothing to talk about I send him a pic of the bill and it’s due date which is today and he said not my problem ask for a loan or something. He owes me 2k I was trying to figure out how we can still help each other and he told me I was harassing him and that I can’t come see the dog and he will get a restraining order. I know his financial situation isn’t good but neither is mine he blocked me again. I know he’s a narcissist and very self centered. His actions don’t have an affect on me but the dog does I’m afraid something would happen to the dog like it did to the other one. I can’t say I don’t care about the money but I barely make ends meet for myself nor can I say I hate him I want him to be ok and succeed like I should too. I know it’s toxic that is why I left. I sent that payment today on time but now I will be behind on all my bills including my rent and car payment. I don’t want to go to his house I don’t know what I did wrong. All I’ve done is is be by his side when no one is he has literally no true friends and he’s not close to his children on his son graduation I was there there was his grandma his stepdad his biological mom me sitting next to her my stepdaughter her boyfriend and then him who got there 30 min late and on the phone for most of the ceremony.

2024.05.29 03:10 WonShinGosu I'm a new renter and I'm too scared to be scammed

Hello, I finally decided to be independent and I was looking for rooms to rent. I'm still fairly new at this, but I have been scammed before cause I'm pretty gullible. My friend told me that this sub reddit was really helpful figuring out whether the listing's he found was too good to be true. So I ask cause I can never be too safe.
Is this listing scam?

2024.05.29 02:44 apothecary_ Schnauzer/PV pets in Pennsville/craigslist

SchnauzePV pets in Pennsville/craigslist
This is a wild shot in the dark...but, has anyone here bought a schnauzer from Diana in Pennsville, NJ that they found off Craigslist? And went to PV pets to purchase them? I'm looking for her to see if she's still in the schnauzer breeding. I have her phone number but it's long deactivated. And an IG name that leads no where. Back in November 2021 I drove out there and adopted the most loving, cuddle bug schnauzer. I know this is a wild request but my adhd/autism INSISTS on getting another schnauzer from the same lady.

2024.05.29 02:43 GreenSolara What should I be aware of when buying an Aeron off Craigslist?

I’m in the market for an Aeron and I’m seeing that Like New condition ones are going for about $500 on Craigslist. A lot of these places advertise free delivery to your doorstep as well. Is there anything I should be on the lookout for before buying?

2024.05.29 02:42 Daniel_Boomin If you’re a Chevy guy would you buy a 2004 3500 Dually with 176k miles for $9.5k when you already have a 2002?

About a year ago I bought a 2002 Chevy 3500 Dually with 178k with the LB7 for $14.9k from a grandma who had it since new, at the time it seemed like all similar trucks were going for about that amount, and the fact she owned it since new and took it to the dealer for literally everything since buying it really reassured me.
Just browsing Craigslist and came across a 2004 3500 Dually also with the LB7 (I’m assuming, might be LLY) in really clean condition inside and out, they say they’ve had it 10 years and it’s just been a farm truck with some hauling now and then. It needs glow plugs and glow plug modules but injectors were done a year ago.
Guess my question is should I jump on this? Maybe I just overpaid a year ago for mine but it seems like a great deal for a clean capable truck. My in laws just bought a ranch and I was thinking I’d keep it at their place to use or make my 2002 the tow pig and 2004 my work truck.
It’s not 4x4 but I don’t care about that, I’m in Phoenix so no snow and any time it’s gonna be off ride is flat solid dirt.

2024.05.29 02:22 BrofessionalElectric What are some of the most useful tips and resources to find cheap, temporary housing in America?

I am a journeyman wireman and I will be traveling for work soon. The place I choose depends on fun, the money from work, and the cost of housing. Before I ever heard of being a digital nomad, I guess I was back in the golden age of craigslist. It helped me travel around west usa. Craigslist is kind of dead now. I'm a little older now and havn't traveled in a while and I'm just wondering if there are some new ways of doing things. I am looking for just about any kind of housing if its a decent price. Point me in the right direction. I will be going to the midwest or south if that info helps. Any help you can give is very appreciated.

2024.05.29 02:20 AdhesivenessNo5549 Bridgestone 550 for...

Bridgestone 550 for...
$25. I wanted an extra wheel set and decided after looking online it wasn't a necessity for the price. I checked on offer up/craigslist/marketplace, and found this for $25.
Would it be better to keep the components and donate the frame or clean and tune and try to trade for something in my size?

Does anyone know anything about this ? I guess it’s called an Eames Lounge chair.
I picked it up off Craigslist for free today. The gentleman that gave it to me said he got it 40 years ago. I’ve looked online but can’t find anything besides Herman Miller chairs. I can’t believe the prices I’m seeing so I’m hoping someone here might know more than me.

2024.05.29 01:53 its_1995 Has anyone actually ever gotten a good offer from the bucketlist guitars cockroach who always emails you for craigslist listings?

Every time I list something he offers like 50% of what I could get for it if I just wait. He wants you to pay shipping and paypal fees on a bulk package of pedals. If you ignore him he emails you again and again.
The only thing I've figured out is it's better to list everything individually with a different background so he can't tell it's from the same person.
Have any of you actually gotten paid well from him?

The Raleigh
My first bike, the Craigslist single speed conversion, the workhorse. Japan built 84 super course. The bike I’ve probably ridden the most. It’s beat up but it’s the best.

2024.05.29 01:38 penisballsbutthole anyone in socal looking to adopt a free bearded dragon with cage included?

anyone in socal looking to adopt a free bearded dragon with cage included?
hi! i posted on here before with the bearded dragons i saved from craigslist, and they’re both at a decent weight now (according to the vet) (still a little skinny imo but a lot better than they were before), eating pretty good, and are less stressed (one of them is still pretty stressed easily, but he’s a cuddly sweetheart who just needs to be kept mostly in a quiet room). Sadly, i am now moving pretty far away and the bearded dragons need to be rehomed to their forever home, so i thought here would be a good place to start looking for a good home for them! here’s some pictures (burrito is the bigger one who is a lighter color & is about to shed his tail in the photo and taquito is the smaller one being soaked). They also require not being in the same room together and/ or different homes as they absolutely hate each other and even hearing the other move stresses them out (although they are fine with my geckos noises & with my frogs noises). i don’t mind bringing you the lizard & their enclosure + stuff for free!

2024.05.29 01:37 RAGERECKER981 How or where can I get broken lawnmowers?

I am a teenager who has taken some small engine classes and successfully fixed some of my family's broken mowers. I then got super lucky and found a free riding mower on marketplace. It wasn't running but just needed a carb swap. I flipped it for $500. I would love to keep fixing up non running mowers and selling them but the problem is someone else always beats me to the few mower deals on marketplace. I am wondering if there is other ways to find or get non-running mowers for cheap to fix up. I tried making a wanted post on marketplace but it gets taken down. I made a wanted post on Craigslist but not as many people use it. Any tips or ideas are much appreciated!

2024.05.29 01:21 constructicon00 Craftsman DYT4000 Rear Wheel Locked Up/No Start

I have the Craftsman model noted above with a Kohler Courage 19hp Dual Cam motor which came with the house when I bought it. After sorting some stuff two years ago when weoved in, I have had it running relatively reliably. Seems to overheat in the dead of summer but generally ok.
This afternoon my son was cutting the grass and apparently stopped to refuel. The engine wouldn't turn over. Battery is good, all the belts are in good order, the motor does not crank. I noticed it was incredibly hard to push and that's when I discovered the left rear wheel is locked up. It will spin occasionally but for the most part it just drags.
I'm reasonably handy but I don't know where to start here. While it would suck, if the right answer is the tractor is toast or not worth dumping money into, well, it's gonna be a long summer with the push mower. I could scout Craigslist/offer up/marketplace for used but not sure what brands to avoid like the plague. If there's a good online resource point me to it.
