2024.06.10 03:00 Camping-in-the-snow As an Aspie, what's your thoughts on Estrangement from your Parents? I'm conflicted.

If you are an adult child who has abandoned your parent and you are reading this website you might have a flood of conflicting feelings ranging from outrage to shame. If you are so overwhelmed with these feelings that you cannot or will not consider that you could be wrong in abandoning them, then you should move on to a website that makes you feel better. If your feelings are so strong that reflection is not possible then you may want to consider some guidance and counseling. There are some excellent sources particularly those engaged in family systems counseling such as the Hellenger Institute in California. This website is not written for you and its perspective is not directed to you. However should you feel, on the subject of your parents, that some reflection might be of benefit to you then you may want to read on.
With that said the first and most important issue to consider is who informs you regarding your relationship with your parents. The major reason that adult children abandon their parents is the interference in that relationship by third parties. These third parties may be a parent divorced from the other, a spouse, or a religious organization. These third parties may have sent you negative messages from your childhood or it may have begun in your adult life. Nonetheless these messages are consistently negative and contain “spin” of the facts and events surrounding your relationship with your parents. It is done for sinister reasons of control and domination. It is intentional and homicidal. It is important to discern in life how we are informed and by whom because it is only then that we can truly seek our own truth. People who thrive on estrangement are more abundant than you know and they will, in a most genteel way, seek to dominate you by taking you away from those who have always been your friend. It is a kind of control and narcissism in people who perpetuate these social crimes.
A word of caution comes from Richard A. Gardner, MD who wrote a book titled “The Parental Alienation Syndrome”. Dr. Garner said “Only terminate your relationship with your parents in the most extreme of circumstances and only then after careful counseling and guidance from a professional.” Your entire identity is tied up in who they are, their historical systems and beliefs trouncing around your family history. It is sometimes said that you are only truly free to be who you are once you have resolved the issues that your parents were not able to resolve. It is in a real sense the repayment for the gift of your life. While it is important for you to process your relationship with your parents, hopefully with the help of a competent therapist specifically trained in alienation, it is just as important to immediately stop any abusive conduct or demeaning and humiliating language you habitually direct toward them. Stop hyper-criticalness and start communication. If the abuse is allowed to continue then at some point, you will not be able to reconcile with your parents. Your own vicious abuse and the lies you tell yourself will become a reality that will never leave you and you literally will live a lie the rest of your life. In the end if that parent dies before you have effected reconciliation then you live with this karma and unrecoverable grief the remainder of your life, scarring the generations to come after you. Nothing about an estranged relationship is static. The estrangement grows, intensifies and becomes irreconcilable not only for the abuser but also for the one abused. It expands itself to the extended family, to your own family and children and sometimes friends. It robs you of your happy memories. What was once an irritant becomes the basis for intense hatred and intense hatred is madness. The abused parent may suffer actual brain damage and early death as a result of your conduct. Two out of three alienated parents admit to suicidal thoughts.
If you have allowed your parents to just drift away without comment, begin to communicate in writing only in order to diminish the potential for anxiety. When anxiety appears try to figure out what it is telling you and why. Gentleness will go a long way in reversing the consequences of your behavior borne by your parents. If you’re distancing yourself from your parents because of their mental illness or addictions, then seek help first with Alanon. These people are quite experienced at assisting family members with these issues. You may find that your relationship may need to be in writing or on the telephone or video internet for a time. Seek the advice of your parent’s therapist or your own if the parent is untreated. Just don’t run away at a time when your parent may need you the most. In these relationships a good bit of the success or failure has to do with setting healthy boundaries and you probably would need help from professionals to do that. In this situation kindness and compassion should be your companions.
If your estrangement from your parents is because you are too busy or they are not good enough or their behavior is embarrassing because you have moved up a notch on the social scale, then you have an ethical problem and you need to take a look at yourself and what kind of human being you are or want to be. The same would be true if the addictions are your own or if you have been unable to make your way in the world and you are ashamed. Seek help for your own addictions and for your ethical failings. If you are overcome by your thoughts of rationalization, justification and believe without a doubt that your parents “deserve what they get”, then know that these are symptoms and not truths. You are being blinded by hate. In all ways seek to resolve your relationships, seek to reverse the consequences of your actions and make yourself a better person. In a short form, live in love vs. hate and in all ways seek to not end up with regrets.

2024.06.10 02:56 Beneficial_Stay4558 31 [M] NJ/NY/PA Northeast USA - Looking for a genuine connection that will last a lifetime

I'm 31 years old, live in NJ. 5'9", 165 lbs (fit/athletic build) 3rd generation Chinese American (my family immigrated here in the 1900s). My family identifies as American as we tend to eat more pasta than rice and my generation has not learned the language. College educated with a Bachelor's in Biomedical Science (switched from an Engineering major...turns out I don't like theoretical math); currently working in the pharmaceutical industry and pretty much love the industry as there isn't any work drama and it's relatively straightforward yet challenging.
I've tried a few long distance relationships and they're quite difficult to manage...they were great when we able to meet in person and I didn't mind putting in the extra work. I'd be willing to try one if the distance is reasonable and the there is a definite spark between us. I am pretty sure I fit the definition of a demisexual, so I'll be strictly trying to form a connection first. I REALLY need the emotional connection before there is a sexual attraction, mentally I can't do hook ups (they're just really hard for me to handle and I have turned people down).
Personality wise I've been told that I tend to bring people together and keep things fun. I have a few different groups of friends and communities I am often with...and they can vary from the youngsters (21 to 30) to the old guys (60+) to the group that's around my age. I would say I'm pretty good at conversing and I try to stay on top of most current events. Mentally I'm an old man and feel more comfortable in that setting, so much that I literally hang out with 60+ years olds at the gym after a workout in the hot tub. I call them the hot tub gang and it's always a set of regulars where we might talk about the same thing every single day until someone newer to the group says that we talked about it yesterday.
I would say fitness is a major player in my life. I started out hating swimming as a kid, but here I am almost 27 years later...I made it through the lessons at the YMCA, joined a club team, swam in high school, swam in college and now I'm a swim coach and instructor as a hobby/side job in my free time. There's something about being a part of coaching people and watching them grow up and succeed that makes me smile.
My free time in the cold months usually consists of planning DIY projects or working on them. I tend to work on all the cars in the family and am the one that fixes them up or finds replacements for them. Or planning my next road trip to somewhere nicer. Whereas in the warm months I love going down to the beach to go for a swim and have a nice relaxing breakfast outdoors. I do have a few kayaks that I'll bring out to go with friends or if I feel it's safe a nice solo paddle to clear my mind. When I think about it, too many of my hobbies involve water. But I do enjoy things on dry land I promise!
I'm really looking for someone I can grow together with, a long term or forever relationship. I want a relationship where both of us put 100% in all the time and if we don't, we can talk to each other about our concerns and work it out. Honestly what I've realized is that maybe I am altruistic...I miss making someone feel happy and loved, miss the good morning texts, the waiting around all day just to see their texts, I miss spoiling someone and the feeling of that feeling of seeing that look that you get when someone truly loves you. I would love to slowly get to know you by having some conversations where the time just flies, then to a point where we talk nonstop, maybe some in person dates and then maybe eventually settle down together and enjoy life together.
Important stuff: Although I enjoy interacting with kids and it's a major part of my life...I don't want any of my own so...sorry if this is a dealbreaker for anyone. I don't drink (except for maybe wine at special occasions....I get really bad Asian Flush so I'll turn bright red if I smell alcohol essentially lol), not into smoking/drugs (Bad asthma and I'm just not into any of that stuff). I don't judge anyone that's into drinking or recreational drugs, it's just not for me personally. Religion wise, I'm Agnostic. Politically I lean relatively to the left.
I'm really searching for that genuine connection; voice calls are definitely a plus and would love to get to know you. It's alright if we end up just as friends that talk here and there.
If it sounds like you could be the one send me a chat or DM and tell me a bit about yourself. My name is Kevin and I'd love to know about you.

2024.06.10 02:45 H-Barbara Unofficial Transcript of SaucerSwap AMA 2024 June 08

https://www.saucerswap.finance/ [6th AMA of 2024]
Pine_apple
Thank you all for joining our monthly AMA today. Next week is Father's Day here in the United States. So happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. ABFT is co-hosting today and we have two awesome guests in the house, Brady and Gaurang. Both are co-founders of Bonzo Finance, an open source, non custodial lending and borrowing protocol built on the Hedera network. So welcome to our AMA, Brady and Gaurang.
Brady (Bonzo Finance)
Hey, thanks so much for having us. Really appreciate it and excited to get the chance to chat with the SaucerSwap community.
Gaurang (Bonzo Finance)
Glad to be here.
ABFTFTW
Hey Brady. Hey Gaurang. Good to have you guys in the Bonzo Finance in the house. Happy to have you with us. I've been outside today and it's in Texas and it's a scorcher. I'm hoping some of that heat kind of passes off into the cryptosphere. I think the HBAR has a bright future. You know that most development going on in all the crypto space and I'm in it for the tech, so let's get this going. Talk to me, Peter.
Peter
Hi everyone. Welcome to our June AMA. And a very warm welcome to Brady and Gaurang from Bonzo, who will be answering some questions about their upcoming lending protocol. So super excited to welcome them up here to talk about that. So in the past, some of you may know, we've welcomed guests from projects like HeadStarter and Citadel wallet, so we are always excited to bring on builders in this space to talk about what they're building on Hedera.
Before we do jump into the questions from this week, we want to take a moment to address just the overall sentiment and roadmap. We wanna give everyone a sense of what's currently being worked on, what's coming next and our overall strategy to grow SaucerSwap.
So first of all, we have made some great progress on governance, which will provide a core utility to the SAUCE token. So for those unaware, governance is the core and sometimes exclusive utility of many DEX tokens. This includes UNI of Uniswap. With the release of governance, everyone will be able to vote with their SAUCE on proposals that align initiatives, create farms and LARI campaigns, decide token classifications, and so on and so forth. We have governance working now on Testnet and have created the UI for it. So we are looking at launching it early summer. So in the next few weeks. It could be towards the end of this month or it could go into next month but it is coming up.
Next we get to work on some features after governance that we know have been highly anticipated, namely Phase 2 and Phase 3 of Single-sided staking. We are super excited to follow through with these developments. We know that they've been a long time coming and they can contribute to some greater utility, both for the xSAUCE token and then also the Planck Epoch Collectible NFTs via kind of their redemption for Sauceling NFTs. So after we roll out governance, we'll be able to lock in the product schema for these features and move forward with their development. So we are really excited about bringing Phase 2 and Phase 3 of Single-sided staking online.
Additionally, with SAUCE having been listed on Bitget last month, we are looking forward to at least one more Centralized Exchange listing this month, with two being more likely. There is additionally a Centralized Exchange listing that is currently scheduled for July, which we are excited about as well.
We also want to just quickly bring to your attention we kicked off a major grant with the HBAR Foundation last week, providing over 20 Million HBAR in incentives for liquidity providers. At the time of receipt, that was over $2,000,000 USD an equivalent value for those tokens and those tokens are being distributed right now to SaucerSwap liquidity providers, in both Version 1 and Version 2, and we'll be live for the next few months. So if you haven't had a chance to check that out, feel free to do so on Saucerswap.finance on the liquidity page. You'll see kind of the effect of those increased rewards.
The salient point we do want to make in this introduction is we understand sentiment is lower today than it was a few months ago. We think this is kind of observed across DeFi on various networks, but you know the nature of these things is cyclical and we want our users to know that we are still developing, we're shipping major features coming up with governance and more on the roadmap that I just mentioned, as well as some other integrations in the coming weeks.
Looking back at the previous month, we think we had some major wins. You know we had this grant announcement with 20 Million HBAR, a major listing on Bitget, a MoonPay integration that's been in the works for a few weeks, not to mention the work that we have accomplished behind the scenes. So there's a lot to be excited about moving forward and we are very appreciative of all of your support as we continue to grow SaucerSwap.
I will just mention as well, you know the project depends on our community as much as it depends on development. So I would like to encourage everyone to stay positive. There's a lot to look forward to. We're working hard and remember that we have a well defined roadmap and we've consistently shipped features on that roadmap since the launch of SaucerSwap Version 1 almost two years ago, and we have a clear plan going forward as well to scale.
As we scale, the ecosystem has some exciting developments as well. So this is kind of the the feature of this AMA. We have Bonzo here, so lending and borrowing going live. It's a DeFi primitive that has an established symbiotic relationship with DEXs on other networks. It's a proven model, so we're excited to see projects like Bonzo and others coming online soon. There's a few lending and borrowing. I think HLiquity, it's already live. They created a pool on SaucerSwap. Bonzo is coming right up as well. And I think Sirio is another one. But anyway, all of these developments can bring a lot more awareness and activity to Hedera DeFi.
So with that preamble out of the way, we can get into the questions for this week.
Pine_apple
Thank you so much, Peter. Hedera DeFi, here we come. So the first question is from Rocco. With this environment being highly competitive, any project is required to have excellent marketing in order to succeed, regardless of how its tech is. What is SaucerSwap's long term plan to gain popularity and create brand awareness, especially to people outside of the Hydra ecosystem? As of my observations, current incentives don't reach far out of Hedera or SaucerSwap's community. So, for example, onboarding influential social media figures to talk about SaucerSwap, purchasing ad space or other collaborations in order to reach people that aren't already in the Hedera ecosystem. As of now, the average crypto enthusiast does not know of SaucerSwap's existence. What are your thoughts on that, Peter?
Peter
Yeah, Rocco, thanks for the question. So this kind of goes back to our overall marketing approach. And in general, it's always been to be objective and honest about the development of the platform. Reading brand awareness is a tricky thing and our philosophy is that it's linked to earning brand integrity. In our view, this comes from following through and executing on development.
So in Web3, you see a lot of marketing that focuses on hype and speculation, and in the short term that works. Our approach is different. We think that a long term, more sustainable approach that builds trust is better. It's not to say that we don't want visibility, especially to people outside the Hedera ecosystem. Quite the opposite. That's one of our main goals is to expand the challenge is accessibility. So right now there's one bridge to and from Hedera that not many people outside of Hedera know about. There is limited access to Hedera native USDC on Centralized Exchanges. The Hedera Token Service has not been integrated, full stop, on many Centralized Exchanges. These are substantial barriers to entry that that do make any marketing endeavors to users from other networks not impossible but definitely more challenging.
The silver lining to all of that is that all of these problems are being actively addressed, and when they are addressed, I think it's reasonable to expect the door to Hedera to open and because it will be so much easier to get involved by having easier access to native USDC for example, or being able to use the bridge that users are familiar with and trust, they will have less friction to get involved with Hedera and participate in the various network offerings.
So sum up our point of view, we think our marketing approach to date has been effective with a kind of high of reaching the top 25 DEXs across all networks by TVL, despite the accessibility challenges I mentioned before, and despite the lack of institutional capital on Hedera. So that is a massive achievement and we're not trying to rest on our laurels. I think it's just a good barometer of what we've achieved together. We surpassed Camelot, SpookySwap, QuickSwap, Bancor, Minswap - which is the leading DEX on Cardano - Loopring, and other very prominent DEXs, some of which had TVLs in excess of $1 billion last cycle.
So this growth we observed was not achieved by hiring influencers to create urgency or sense of hype, but just by being consistent and working hard and delivering on our roadmap. That strategy has been successful for the growth of SaucerSwap to date and that is our strategy going forward.
ABFTFTW
That was a great question Rocco, and Peter, you nailed it on the head. I couldn't agree more. Next question is for Bonzo Finance. Are there any plans to integrate SaucerSwap's API with Bonzo to enable collateral swaps directly from within the Bonzo Finance interface?
Gaurang (Bonzo Finance)
Yeah. To the question the answer is absolutely yes, but not immediately. We might be doing that in Q3 of this year. So what we are focusing on right now, Bonzo has a public Testnet live right now, which has the basic features like borrowing, lending, repaying, withdrawing and all these things, right. And we also have flash loans working right now on the Testnet. Our current main focus is to launch on the Hedera Mainnet with a basic set of features. These will include flash loans, liquidation bots, all the borrowing lending, you know, basic features of any lending protocol. Immediately after that, we want to launch the collateral swaps because our team has been using lending protocols personally and I think collateral swaps or even DEX swaps is a really nice feature, so if you see the APY for some token is more than the APY for the token that you have supplied, you can immediately switch that token without going through the whole process of withdrawing and supplying again. So yeah, it's definitely on the roadmap and that will be one of the first features that we tackle after launching on the Mainnet.
Brady (Bonzo Finance)
Yeah, and just to add to that as well. Bonzo Finances, it's based on the Aave V2 code base and so the functionalities that you're seeing on Aave V2 are all part of the roadmap. And I think we're taking a similar approach to SaucerSwap when it comes to sort of laying a a really solid and robust foundation initially. They had started with Uniswap V2 and then evolved feature sets and product offerings and eventually adopted Uniswap V3, and we're taking a very similar approach and it's sort of phased, but we want to deliver a really solid and usable product right off the bat, utilizing Aave V2 and sort of its core functionalities.
Pine_apple
Great. Thank you so much for that Brady and Gaurang. The Bonzo testnet is found on Bonzo.Finance, so for free to check that out guys. So our next question is from an anonymous user. When is SAUCE going to be listed on another Centralized Exchange? To get a ByBit listing, you need to have 40 million marketcap. SAUCE well past 50+ Million marketcap. Why is SAUCE not on ByBit? And another question is, did the team also apply for Binance after the recent announcement? What are your thoughts, Peter?
Peter
Yeah. Thanks for this question. So as I mentioned in the introduction to the AMA, we are planning for at least one Centralized Exchange listing this month, with two potentially being on the horizon. We can't speak on kind of specific exchanges or the exact scheduling right now, but we are satisfied with the progress we have been making and we're looking forward to the coming weeks.
I will just also note that so newer projects like PACK from the HashPack team tend to get listed faster or percede the scheduling in terms of listing of other network tokens. Just being a newer project, this is kind of what Centralized Exchanges want to capitalize on, and it's great for the ecosystem. It's been really good for us and it means that HTS is integrated on exchanges. There's more precedent for it and some more token listings can follow. And we have been working with HashPack to achieve the goal for the, you know, to the benefit of the entire HTS ecosystem to have HTS more widely integrated on Centralized Exchanges. And that of course kind of culminated in the Bitget listing last month with PACK and SAUCE.
ABFTFTW
Yeah, sounds good to me. Thanks for that explanation there, Peter. Septia. Hello, Septia. How are you? Septia wants to know what risk controls will Bonzo Finance have in place to minimize liquidity crunches.
Brady (Bonzo Finance)
Yeah, it's a great question. Happy to take that one. So there's a few things that we're doing to try and minimize that risk. The first one, which is foundational to Aave, is that when you're participating in lending and borrowing, it is an overcollateralized position that you're providing. So when you supply assets to the protocol, you are only allowed to borrow a percentage of the value that is supplied and the percentage is different per asset. So based on risk parameters and a risk analysis for each asset that's supported, that over collateralization amount is going to change. Essentially the loan to value amount will change. So when users are sort of over collateralizing, there's a buffer that exists for those assets.
And then in addition, dynamic interest rates. So the interest rates for borrowing adjust based on the utilization of that particular asset. So as more of an asset was borrowed, the interest rate for that asset increases and that incentivizes the behavior of repaying and also sort of encouraging liquidity to return to the protocol. Gaurang, anything else there that I may have missed?
Gaurang (Bonzo Finance)
Yeah. So I just want to give an example of the Aave market on the Scroll network. The Scroll is another L2 on Etherium. It actually happened I think on Thursday or Friday this week. So on the Aave protocol, there's a concept called utilization rate. Essentially, it's a rate of borrowed assets against supplied assets. So let's say all the people on the on the network has supplied 10,000 USDC and all the people have borrowed 9,000 USDC. So in that case, the utilization rate is going to be 90%. So as Brady was saying, as the utilization rate goes on increasing, the interest rate goes very high. So on Scroll, what happened this week was that the USDC utilization rate was at 99%, and because of that, the borrow and the supply APY on that particular asset was very high. So it was going towards like 80% or something for the supply. And you know what happens is with the market dynamics whenever the APY goes so high, there are more people in the market for supplying that asset. So it's kind of like an equilibrium and it's a game theoretical problem. So what we have observed in the protocol in the past is that the market dynamics kind of help with this. That's number one.
We are also looking at implementing something called Borrow Caps from Aave V3. We might bring in that functionality in [our] Aave V2 [fork] now. I'm not sure whether we will be doing it, but we are trying to do it before the Mainnet launch. With the Borrow Caps, we can actually cap the utilization of any assets, so we could cap it at let's say 90% or 85% or something. Yeah, these are like a couple of things that we're looking at.
Brady (Bonzo Finance)
Yeah. And then to add in addition to that, there is a mechanism within Aave that is also being employed in Bonzo called a safety module. Essentially, a safety module is a reserve of the protocols native asset. Holders of that native asset are incentivized to lock up their tokens into this safety module and receive a interest rate, an APY for doing so. That reserve can be employed in the case of a shortfall event related to liquidity. So if there's moments of extreme volatility for supported assets and liquidations that don't take place in a timely manner or take place improperly, that reserve is also employed to ensure that accreditors are made whole. So anticipation is that we are doing everything to mitigate the chance of that from happening, but it is sort of an insurance in the case of something like that taking place. And then if it is employed, the assets that are utilized from the safety module, it's shared across anybody who is participating in that functionality.
Pine_apple
Great. Thank you so much for that, Brady and Gaurang. So moving on to our next question, this is from a anonymous user. SaucerSwap Twitter is not very active recently and the number of followers is stagnating, which seems to indicate a lack of interest. Any plans to boost engagement, engagement and dynamism in the coming weeks?
Peter
Yeah, well, Bonzo's surely getting the fun questions. So SaucerSwap's Twitter account has grown by 3400 followers in the last 30 days, which indicates roughly a 10% increase month over month. That is an excellent growth rate. And over the next few weeks, we have several developments and integrations that we will announce and highlight right on our social media platforms, including Twitter. So in terms of recent growth, we have enjoyed a healthy rate of increase again 10% month over month is very good.
Going back to the answer from before regarding our marketing approach, we use our social media accounts to put out useful information about integrations and protocol developments, so that all the content we put out is not just fluff. We want to put out substance. Additionally, the Spring Incentives Campaign does present a unique opportunity for marketing. Looking into potentially doing a press release for this one to kind of target users from other networks. So highlighting that as an endeavor is something we're currently pursuing.
ABFTFTW
Sounds pretty good, Peter. Thank you for that. Next question is again for the Bonzo crew. Are there any integrations that will exist between SaucerSwap DEX and Bonzo Finance lending protocol?
Brady (Bonzo Finance)
Yeah, we're definitely looking into integrations between the two. I think the first thing off the bat is there are two core functionalities within the Bonzo Finance ecosystem for liquidation bots and flash loans that Gaurang mentioned earlier. And so for liquidation bots, essentially what that is, is anybody in the ecosystem who is technically savvy can operate a liquidation bot that seeks out opportunities for liquidations. Essentially when liquidation thresholds are met for users. And upon performing the liquidation, they would take the collateral that was supplied by the user and swaps would need to be performed as part of that process. And when we are building out the templates for liquidation bots in that ecosystem, it is going to heavily rely on SaucerSwap and their DEX and the liquidity in SaucerSwap to perform that action.
One thing I'm excited about that in the sense that I think that by adding lending protocols and particularly Bonzo Finance and our liquidation bot ecosystem, it should help further drive volumes that we see on the SaucerSwap DEX, which is a key health metric, and then in addition to that with flash loans.
Flash loans are essentially the ability to borrow assets from the Bonzo Protocol without providing collateral. And the way that works is it's the development of a smart contract that borrows assets or liquidity from the protocol, utilizes that liquidity for certain types of financial transactions, so it could be arbitrage between two Decentralized Exchanges or between a Centralized and a Decentralized Exchange, and then paying back that loan plus interest, all within a single transaction. And if the loan is unable to be repaid back within that single transaction, the process reverses. And so it's as if that process never happens. So flash loans are viewed as a very relatively safe way to be able to utilize larger amounts of liquidity in the protocol and earn a profit for doing so based on the various types of activities that would utilize that liquidity for in the templates that we're building out for our developer ecosystem. That includes SaucerSwap as sort of a key exchange that someone would utilize when participating in a flash loan type activities. Gaurang, anything else there to add in addition with regards to integrations?
Gaurang (Bonzo Finance)
Yeah. So we mentioned the collateral swaps earlier, so that will be another integration. Also, we are heavily relying on the WHBAR, the wrapped HBAR contracts deployed by SaucerSwap. So for us, I think for any blockchain protocol, composability is very important, right? So it's very important to be able to work with essentially all the contracts and all the things that have already been deployed on the network. That's why we are integrating with the WHBAR contract deployed by SaucerSwap. That way, there's very close tie and close relationship between Bonzo and SaucerSwap. Anyone who is kind of building liquidation bots on Bonzo or utilizing the flash loans on Bonzo will be able to use SaucerSwap very seamlessly.
Pine_apple
Great. Thank you so much for that, Brady and Gaurang. So this next question is from a user and you guys kind of touched on this a little bit. For liquidation bots on Bonzo Finance, will there be mechanisms in place to utilize SaucerSwap's liquidity to facilitate the liquidation process efficiently?
Gaurang (Bonzo Finance)
Yeah, absolutely. So I would say it's like the keystone for any liquidation bots on Bonzo. So without SaucerSwap's liquidity, the liquidation bots and the flash loans won't really work. So just to kind of explain in short how the liquidations work, let's say I have deposited some token on Bonzo token like KARATE or DOVU or SAUCE token, and I have borrowed USDC against those tokens. Now let's say what happens is, just like what happened yesterday, the supply token value goes down by 20% because of some events in the market that happened yesterday for example. Now what happens is in this case my loan to value ratio, my LTV, could go above the liquidation threshold and in this case, the liquidation bots will kick in. So what the liquidation bots will do is they will repay my USDC loan by taking a flash loan. They will swap my USDC on SaucerSwap back to SAUCE, and then they will essentially pay back the flash loan on Bonzo. So all these actions will happen in the same block, in the same transaction on the blockchain, not the same transaction, but the same block on the blockchain. And that's why without SaucerSwap, liquidation bots might not work unless you have like a big liquidity in your own wallet. Unless you have like 10s of thousands or even millions of dollars in your wallet, it won't work.
ABFTFTW
Awesome, Gaurang. Thank you so much for that. Next question goes to Joseph, what cross chain activities will the team be participating in over the next six months to encourage new users to come to SaucerSwap?
Joseph
Hi everyone. Man, I feel like a second class citizen during this far down. Well yeah, to answer the question, there are several interoperability solutions currently integrating with Hedera. So I believe Axelar has been the first to publicly announce this, and once integrated, there will be more avenues to bridge assets to and from Hedera and other chains. So SaucerSwap plans on leveraging this by allocating a portion of the 23 Million+ HBAR in THF grant money towards liquidity incentives in both V1 and V2 pools. And this would be pools containing these newly supported cross-chain assets, with an emphasis on stable coins.
On protocols like Axelar will also enable cross-chain swaps in addition to the standard bridge transactions, and this means you can access say Uniswap liquidity from within the SaucerSwap's web frontend.
Beyond this, we are continuing to assist with the onboarding of new active liquidity management or ALM providers such as Gamma and Steer protocol. These offer an alternative liquidity management strategy to Ichi. So ALMs, of course, are important for the health of SaucerSwap for V2 since concentrated liquidity positions can be a challenge to manage without the auto rebalancing. And lastly, I think it would be great for multi-chain yield aggregators like Beefy to integrate with Hedera. This would enable V1 yield farmers and potentially V2 liquidity providers to automatically compound their earnings without the need to do like a manual harvest.
Pine_apple
Great. Thanks so much for that. Joseph, you're A1 in my book friend. So the next question is from anonymous user. Development seems relatively slow recently. Are you facing particular challenges such as technical staffing or other? When can we expect the release of the features in development visible on the roadmap? For example, improved LARI analytics, slippage optimization, Wallet Connect integration, etc.
Joseph
Yeah, good question. So development is fairly cyclical, meaning we generally spend several months with our heads down working on a new product or feature. Then once it's ready to ship, we allocate more resources to marketing and just become more public facing in general. So you may have noticed this pattern with single-sided staking, SaucerSwap Version 2, most recently Autopools, and the product that we're currently working on is on-chain governance.
Also, as our protocol continues to mature, the length of these development cycles tends to increase as considerations like scaling and stability become more pertinent, and this has become especially apparent in recent times, given that we experienced a 10x increase in traffic near the beginning of the year.
There's also external considerations that are outside of our control. So for example, we are unable to release Wallet Connect despite completing our integration. This is due to several outstanding differences between Hedera wallet providers, which are currently being resolved.
So all to say, we unfortunately can't move with the same cadence as we did at the beginning of our projects life cycle. However, we are taking proactive measures, such as hiring more developers and ensuring tech debt is minimized and we have a solid foundation on which to build. I do agree that frequent communication on the status of our development is important and the hyper competitiveness of this space is acknowledged. So we will put out a development update this week, and this should bring the community up to speed on what has been achieved and what can be expected in the near term.
ABFTFTW
Thank you, Joseph. Next question is what is the plan to deepen liquidity in Bonzo and also the Hedera DeFi ecosystem as the whole? And then a follow up question is a DEX partnership like Joe, Cake or JUP coming up?
Brady (Bonzo Finance)
Yeah, it's a great question and it's something that's really top of mind for us at the end of the day. In order to create an economically sustainable protocol, we need to have TVL on Bonzo and then we need to ensure that folks are utilizing that TVL for borrowing. That's where you know majority of the fees come from for the treasury for Bonzo Finance. There's sort of three key things that that we're looking at off the bat that that seemed critical and it's the incentivization of liquidity providers, offering a wide range of assets that are supported by the protocol, and then leveraging stable coins and in particular USDC.
With the incentivization of liquidity providers, there are two programs that were looking at running. The first one is we are in discussions with HBAR Foundation around liquidity incentives for their DeFi Spring program that SaucerSwap is also partaking in. Those discussions aren't finalized yet, but the hope is to be able to provide HBAR incentives for folks that are both supplying liquidity and borrowing.
And then the second is a points program that's being employed by the protocol. So we're actually going to be using the HCS-20 point standard using the Hedera consensus service for the protocol. I think it's one of the first times that in the Hedera ecosystem, there's been an employment of this HCS-20 standard for like a real world live use case. I think the only other one might be NFTier. That points program - we were inspired by Margin Phi, Kamino, and some of these other lending protocols that you see on networks like Solana and across the Web3 space - and it's going to run in seasons.
So each season is around five to six months, and points that are accumulated throughout those seasons for participating in supplying liquidity and borrowing. Users will receive rewards at the end of each season for the accumulation of those points. So we think between those two incentive models, it's sort of strong case for folks to want to be able to supply liquidity to the protocol.
In addition and sort of tangential to that, there's a lot of liquidity in the ecosystem today that is in the treasuries of these token based projects or in large holders accounts - sometimes employees or investors or folks that have you know are large holders of these token based projects - and there hasn't been a extremely safe place for them to supply that liquidity, which unlocks it for the ecosystem that's more sort of relatively lower risk where they're able to earn rewards on it. And so with Bonzo, because when you support a specific asset, it's a single liquidity pool. It's not like a token pair similar to like a DEX. And in discussions that we've had with token based projects, looking to them as potentially unlocking some of that liquidity that is in their treasuries or by these large holders that for many reasons they're unable to sell their tokens on market, but they do want to utilize them, Bonzo is a very appealing place to be able to supply those assets.
In addition to that, in terms of a wide range of assets, one of the things that I'm most excited about that's sort of in the process of being developed is bridging infrastructure and in particular the engagement with Axelar. I think the one of the few ways that we can really drive overall TVL and the ecosystem is through the use of bridging, and providing incentives for users to drive liquidity from other networks to Hedera. So we are in the process of waiting for Axelar bridging and bridge providers that are utilizing Axelar to come online, but those wrapped assets that can be brought over are going to play a critical role in like the growth and health of Hedera's DeFi ecosystem and in particular protocols like SaucerSwap and Bonzo Finance. We certainly want to run campaigns that target users on other networks and bring them and liquidity over to the Hedera network, but again, just waiting on the development of this bridging infrastructure to take place, but it feels very promising.
Then the third thing is stable coins. There's a huge emphasis on USDC right now in Hedera ecosystem as part of HBAR foundation strategy and I think just overarching strategy. The liquidity of USDC on Hedera is quite low relative to other public networks. So as Gaurang mentioned earlier, USDC and stable coins on lending protocols are one of, if not the most highest utilized asset. We think that's going to hold true for the Hedera ecosystem. So in our discussions with market makers and liquidity providers and other folks that would be supplying that liquidity, USDC is definitely top of mind and we want to be a liquidity powerhouse when it comes to USDC and other stable coin assets.
Pine_apple
Thank you so much for that thorough explanation, Brady. So our next question is from Maurice. Is there any consideration to use the Pyth network for better auto pools?
Joseph
Yeah. So our team actually has met with Pyth and we do see value in an integration. In terms of Auto Pools, I know that Ichi uses Chainlinks transaction manager to streamline the rebalance function. So this is done by quickly identifying and confirming transactions during periods of heavy network congestion. I don't think that's particularly relevant to Hedera just due to architectural differences between Hashgraph and Blockchain, but in terms of price oracles, Ichi currently looks at SaucerSwap TWAP oracles and these price assets based on token reserves and liquidity pools. So I'm not sure if they would how they would use third party oracles such as those offered by Pyth, but if you have any ideas, feel free to drop them in our Discord.
ABFTFTW
Next question is when is stage 2 and 3 of single-sided staking going to launch and what are the use cases for the PEC NFTs?
Joseph
Yeah. So Peter touched on this, but stages 2 and 3 of single-sided staking will be prioritized following the release of on-chain governance and this is planned for early summer. Our conception of how phases 2 and 3 will work has evolved since it was first announced, and we now have a better sense of how an optimal system could be developed that has product market fit within the Hedera ecosystem. So you can expect marketing and educational material on this extension of single-sided staking to become a focus once token weighted voting and a functioning DAO become live.
In terms of how Planck Epoch Collectible NFTs relate to stage 3 of single-sided staking, the idea is that holders of these NFTs will have the option of redeeming them for Sauceling NFT, and these Sauceling NFTs in turn can be staked to increase one's weight of rewards in a Community Pool.
Pine_apple
Thank you for that, Joseph. So this next question is for Brady and Gaurang. Can developers or traders use Bonzo Finance's flash loans to execute complex arbitrage trades or liquidity provision strategies on SaucerSwap?
Brady (Bonzo Finance)
Yeah, absolutely. So as mentioned before, flash loans can be employed to be able to perform these arbitrage activities in the templates that we're creating for users who are creating flash loans, automatically incorporate SaucerSwap's DEX as part of that. The way that that process might look is a trader identifies that there's a price discrepancy between an asset that's on SaucerSwap and maybe another Decentralized Exchange, or Centralized Exchange. They configure a flash loan where the trader is able to borrow the necessary funds to be able to execute this arbitrage trade that they want to perform. All within the same single transaction, the trader would sell the borrowed assets on the exchange with the higher price and then buy them back on SaucerSwap at a lower price as an example. Then finally, the trader repays the flash loan using the profits from the arbitrage trade and then keeping the remaining profits for themselves. This is sort of one example that flash loans can be utilized for.
In terms of liquidity provisioning - you can borrow assets against your collateral on Bonzo and then you really can do anything that you want with those assets that you've borrowed. So one of the things that I could anticipate seeing is there are various APY rates on SaucerSwap for providing liquidity. Based on these different asset types, and let's say you're a large holder of HBAR, you want to be able to get exposure to these other assets to supply them as liquidity and earn interest or earn rewards for doing so, but you don't want to sell your HBAR in order to do that. So you can collateralize your HBAR using Bonzo. You can take out a loan of let's say USDC because USDC interests APY on SaucerSwap is pretty high. There is a small borrow APY that you would pay for borrowing the USDC from Bonzo, but you would supply that to SaucerSwap and you'd be earning an ideally larger APY for supplying it as liquidity to the protocol. That is one strategy where liquidity provisioning can take place where it utilizes Bonzo and it utilizes SaucerSwap. That's going to help deepen the liquidity for assets on SaucerSwap's DEX, but then also create more sort of efficient market. So with greater liquidity in SaucerSwap's DEX, there's a less likely chance of slippage and other benefits that come along with that, as well as efficiencies.
ABFTFTW
Awesome, Brady, I appreciate all that information. That's really fascinating stuff. This is where we break away from the traditional AMA and move on to the TMS because this isn't the question, this is tell me something. So Anon wants to tell us. I think it's appropriate to use AI technologies to be more inclusive of non-English speaking communities and not be attacked with so many questions afterwards. Joseph, you want to tell him something back?
Joseph
Sure, take a stab. Yeah. So we actually did leverage AI to translate our gitbook documentation into, I believe, 11 different languages. I do think there's also value in translating the AMA transcripts, so I appreciate this suggestion. Slightly unrelated, but adding localization and multi-currency support to the webapp would also increase SaucerSwap's accessibility to non-English speakers. I'm not sure if automating this with AI is necessarily the right approach, as we'd want to ensure the translations are accurate, but in any case, we definitely plan on looking into this once current roadmap items are completed.

2024.06.10 02:39 CyberShogunOP What is your favorite Metroid Prime game?

Out of the 3 games I would have to say 2 easily takes the cake as my most favorite in the trilogy to date. This is mostly because Metroid Prime 2 Echoes took everything from the first game and made it even better. New environments, suits, weapons, enemies, boss battles, updated visuals and more unlockable content make Metroid Prime 2 a worthy successor to it's game of the year original back in 2002.
Metroid Prime 2 Echoes is arguably one of the best games you can pick up on the original Nintendo Gamecube. It features a great fun and lengthy campaign which should take most players around 20 or more hours to complete if you're looking to complete the game 100% first time through. Loads of unlockables to collect and a rich and well thought story which is told through walls of text by scanning Luminoth and Pirate data entries much like in the first game.
The main complaints about Prime 2 we're it's higher ramp in difficulty compared to the first game and the fact that the multiplayer was flat compared to another and very similar sci-fi shooter Halo 2. First and for the most yes while the game could get very challenge especially when encountering the later bosses in the game (i.e Boost Guardian, Spider Guardian, Bomb Guardian and Quadraxis) I actually appreciated Prime 2 for this aspect. Mostly because in the first game Samus felt like an Overpowered unstoppable force with no formidable opponent or obstacles to overcome once you've obtained the Varia Suit and at least 50 missiles throughout the game. There's also the fact that the bosses we're too easy and boring due to their predictable attack patterns and that they we're more tedious and time consuming than fun.
In Metroid Prime 2 yes while Samus is still a badass and overpowered swiss army knife on legs there are some new obstacles that are introduced that make her far more balanced and grounded than her Metroid Prime 1 counterpart. The first thing being you can no longer spam missiles by pressing Y, A and Y again unlike in Prime 1. There's also the fact that enemies do far more damage in Prime 2 and the introduction of the poisonous atmosphere when first entering dark aether which constantly eats away at the player's health forcing them to enter light crystals and beacons in order to slowly replenish their health over time. Lastly bosses in Prime 2 are a lot harder than the bosses in Prime 1. Bosses like the Boost Guardian require the player to enter morph ball mode and hit The Ing with morph ball bombs in order to get it to morph back into Ing form. All while the creature does a boost ball attack which can take off 30+ hit points of your life on normal combined with the additional damage you take from the poisonous atmosphere of Dark Aether with no light crystals to protect you.
All of these new things introduced to add more challenge really negated that feeling of power you had in Prime 1 and this is what made Prime 2 so special to me as the combat felt more rewarding and forced you to get creative with your strategy and plan ahead for future fights. It basically gave the game an early Dark Souls feels. Even though it's a tough and brutal challenge to overcome it's also a challenge that's worth conquering. As for the multiplayer what can I say. Yes it was flat and boring and honestly the only reason it was implemented was to compete with the likes of Halo 2 but this isn't that big of a deal considering Metroid was never a multiplayer focused game to begin with and honestly I would take Metroid over Halo anyday and anyone who knows Samus would know she would eat Chief for breakfast. Plus the xbox is honestly the shittiest console in my honest opinion due to the fact that it's a major cash cow that focuses primarily on the multiplayer aspect with little variety compared to the Playstation and Nintendo Consoles. Nintendo's consoles tend to focus a lot more on story and offline multiplayer with family while the Sony Playstation is the best of both worlds considering even though it does have a few primarily multiplayer focused exclusives it also has more than enough single focused games and variety for people like me who don't want to put up with screaming little kids and constant drama and negativity from other players online who just want to enjoy the game for the story alone.
Overall out of the 3 games Metroid Prime 2 is ranked in the middle with a 9.1 by Gamespot, with Prime 1 being rated the highest with an astonishing 9.7 and Prime 3 the lowest with a pretty solid 8.5. All of which I disagree with. If I had to rank the 3 games in order I would rate Prime 1 9.3/10, Prime 2 9.5-6/10 and Prime 3 8.9-9/10.
The reason being 3 getting flack for it's awkward movement controls with the wii. Motion controls can make things a bit too easy and less adventurous and the fact that it doesn't offer a whole lot new to the trilogy compared to the previous two titles. Really the only issue I agree with is the fact that some of the movement sequences can be a little tricky to pull off with the Wii controller. Yes having the ability to free aim did soften the difficulty up a bit but it made up for this by including a new hair tearingly challenging difficulty called Hypermode which reduces the player's damage output by 50% and increases enemy damage by 50%. Plus the fact that enemy's enter hyper mode a lot more frequently forcing you to enter hyper mode in order to dispatch enemy's more quickly at the cost of draining your health faster. Playing Prime 3 on Hyper Mode is basically the equivalent to playing Doom Eternal on Ultra Nightmare or even Halo 2 on Legendary since i've never played Prime 3 on Hyper Mode yet. Yes Prime 3 may not have offered a whole lot new to the trilogy but honestly I liked that it didn't change much from the first 2 entries. Sure maybe a few new graphical tweaks and abilities would have been nice to see but overall I liked that it stuck close to the original formula. It's like the old saying goes "If it ain't broke don't fix it.
To wrap this discussion up Prime 2 is currently my most favorite Prime game in the trilogy and once I finish playing through Prime 3 my full thoughts on that game will be up for discussion. So what is your favorite Prime game in the trilogy to date?

2024.06.10 02:22 S3lad0n Fear and avoidance of money & work

Hopefully it's ok to post this here, am looking mainly for compassionate feasible advice or understanding.
One of my (F/32) goals is some or total financial independence as an adult, without relying mainly on a partner or parents to live, but it seems like it's going to be impossible and out of my reach for a few reasons--one big one being that I have so much fear, trauma and avoidant anxiety around money & work.
To keep it short: I grew up lower income but not poor, from a family who lost all their inheritance, and despite the fact I was conscientious in school I have been underemployed all my life (depression/high-functioning autism) in jobs I either hated and was in suited for, or where I was exploited (criminally in at least one case). No-one in my direct family of origin liked their jobs or came away without some kind of trauma from them, either (though a few already-rich distant relatives have cushy portfolio jobs they like).
Since the pandemic and a period of ill health for me, I've lived off savings and help from family (I provide secondary live-in care for an elder relative), but it's got to a point I can't face the thought of returning to trad work, hustling (which I've never been able to do, with my personality/neuroatypicality), or even looking at my bank balance. It's hard to look at receipts, too. Have tried downloading finance apps, but can't bring myself to use them. I put off buying anything unless I need it, and sometimes skip appointments unless they're crucial (dental, therapy, haircuts and visiting my sister are all that's allowed). Thanks to my bookkeeper mum I do have a few savings accounts with rainy day stashes, yet I know my main debit account must be dwindling. Idk where this terror stems exactly or what I can do about it, but it's getting to a point that isn't sustainable.
Idk, I'm just really scared, of everything--the future, adult demands, having fallen so far behind everyone (including my peers/classmates/siblings), supporting myself if and when my folks are gone, ending up worse off than they did, having nothing and nowhere to do...but just as much I fear being trapped in the rat race, hating myself and my waking life, enduring more of the lonely tedious torment I did in school and at my old jobs, having no time and space and peace to recharge like I do now (that's made me semi-functional and content, for the first time since I was very little). I can't go back to that. Just sharing this makes my heart rate pick up and my soul flinch. Wish we could all be free of this evil inhumane system based on credits & currency.
One person in my life has suggested I just 'get knocked up and be a SAHM' to dodge the problem, but I have a horror of pregnancy (my mum almost died in childbirth with my sibling) and I am not emotionally equipped nor willing to care for children, so that's also out as a plan. Another person suggested to 'make your hobby your job!', only I truly have no active skill-based hobbies, and my only natural talent is writing in English, which ChatGPT and the like has supplanted. If I was much better-looking I might consider tv acting or modelling, as at least it's easy and pays well relative to the work input, but I don't think I'd get any callbacks (I have a theatre degree lmao)
Been talking to a therapist about this issue, but all he's said is that I have to face internal shame and 'talk to my inner child' (it's bullshit CBT), with no elaboration on what to do about that. How can I cope with this, or better yet overcome it?

2024.06.10 02:21 Dragon-King-of-Death Nah I'd Adapt

Okay so to start with. Just the other day, one of my friends found my last post and challenged me to make a build that granted the use of the Essence of The Jumpmaster, to build the Ultimate Survivalist Build. What that means is that you could be dropped into the harshest most dangerous places in existence and with come out alive. But to make it harder you only get one perk per jump. Looking like Mahoraga is Optional. (For reference here is the Essence)
You consume the Essence of an experienced Jumper, and gain the following benefits: •Gain 10,000 Choice Points. •These points may be spent across any Jumpchain document, you do not however gain the benefits of any discounts. •You may take any purchases listed as Free at no cost so long as you spend 100cp in the corresponding Jump Document for each Free option taken. •You may also choose to apply the Body Mod supplement to yourself. •Drawbacks do not grant any points. •Gain one origin for free, you benefit from any exclusive perks or freebies for this origin. •Any stipends of bonus choice points a jump may grant are only accessible if you spend twice that amount of Choice Points in that jump. You must obey any restrictions associated with these stipends. •You may choose to be dropped into any setting in which you have spent choice points on, or you may be returned to your original reality.
So far the perks I have chosen are Andreias Amarantos from Empires of Antiquity Fate Legends, Dragon Slayer from Voyage to Valhalla Fate Legends, A Mother’s Love from The Divinity Saga’s Jump, Adaptability from The New JJK Jump, God Hand from The Vasto of White Jump, Master of Many Resistances EX from The Grand Foreigner Jump and The Indestructible Reptile from The One Helluva Broken Day Jump. If you could suggest and resistance or adaptability perks that would be great. (Here is the Description of The Perks)
[Andreias Amarantos (600)]: •Having been bathed in holy flames blessed by the Gods of Olympus when you were younger, you share a similar blessing as Achilles. Your body has become invincible, at least in regards to those that lack the divine. Any attack, no matter the power or nature, will fail to harm your body should it not be delivered by a divine weapon or a divine being, even magic or powerful conceptual weapons. To truly pass this defense, the divinity must be equal to that of at least a demigod with one powerful parent or the equivalent, and lesser amounts of divinity will result in only a small percentage of the incoming attack being able to affect you. It is also possible for enemies to trick their way past this blessing, by attacking with an ‘act of friendship’, such as being bitten by a vampire who intends to turn you into a vampire like them. Finally, your one true weakness that all can strike at, is that one of your heels were unable to be covered in the fires and not only does that heel lack your invincibility, specifically striking it with enough power to damage the heel will result in your invincibility being deactivated for a full day.
[Dragon Slayer (600)]: •The evil dragon shall fall and the world will reach its sunset. For you are here to ensure that. Some may reach legendary status after many trials but you? You already reached this pillar. Siegfried, one of the greatest Heroes in mythology. He is your peer and perfect equal. Your skill in battle is as such that even a twice over more powerful opponent, enhanced by the Holy Grail, could be matched by your sheer prowess with a sword. The kind of skill no doubt helped you as you slew a dragon. Whether or not you truly have already done the deed matters little for you receive such rewards now. Your every strike is vastly more effective against draconic enemies. As long as they can be counted as being a dragon, even if they only have the core or blood of one, they will suffer far more damage from your attacks, as if you are their weakness. As such attacks from them are also less powerful against you. And that is without counting what kind of durability you have now. Your body itself is a titan, unmoving against the greatest of attacks for you bathed in the blood of Fafnir. Your skin is like dragon scales, invulnerable to anything short of something on the level of a Hero of Charities Spear. Especially in a defensive battle, you are like a moving fortress as your protection increases even further. There is one downside to this blessing however. One part of your body was not receiving the dragons blood, causing a weak spot the size of a linden leaf. This weak spot can not be covered and must remain exposed at all times. Any attack you suffer there will not be weakened, impacting you with its full force and damage to your weak spot is considerably more difficult to heal. Also due to the nature of your protection, if you yourself are struck with something possessing an Anti-Dragon attribute, the protection will be slightly weakened.
[A Mother’s Love (600/800 CP)]: •The Curse of Baldur is a powerful protective magic that Freya cast on her son Baldur. It rendered him immune to harm from physical attacks and nearly any magic. Even being slain would only incapacitate him temporarily. The only thing capable of breaking this protection was the mistletoe. This caused the protective runes to shatter. For 600 CP you claim the curse for yourself without suffering the inability to feel like Baldur. You however, must select a single substance that is capable of piercing your defenses. This may be a rare substance however, such as an exotic metal. •Also should your protection be breached it will reappear a few minutes later rather than disappearing permanently. For an additional 200 CP you can upgrade this perk further into the Protection of the World. When Freya cast her spell on Taylor she modified the curse to be stronger and retain the user’s ability to feel. The protection of the world made Taylor immune to any being native to her universe. Only a being such as Scion who was foreign to her multiverse would be capable of piercing her impenetrable skin.
•Master of Many Resistances EX is a skill that grants the user immunity to nearly all status effects. Everything from resistance to specific diseases, to special weapons can be gained with this skill. Though the more general this protection is the less effective the skill becomes. For example, you could acquire complete protection from a single specific type of attack, or you could have a decent resistance against everything. You may freely shift this parameter at will, but you will only retain your active resistances.
[Adaptability (-1000cp)]: •Yeah this isn’t the technique of a human or a cursed spirit but a shikigami. But it’s cool so I’m putting it here. This is the ability to adapt to all phenomena such as attacks and how you fight. Each time the eight handled wheel behind you turns you become more and more resistant to a type of attack. Not just the specific one but in general. This adaptation works after a single attack but will speed up after each strike of the same technique. Such as if you were hit by a flame attack repeatedly you would become immune to it and flames in general. You also adapt as you fight. Your blows become able to injure your opponent even if they were previously invincible. Such as an opponent being weak to fire your blows will become wreathed in flames. This does take time though as the wheel must finish spinning four times. Also it can only adapt to one thing at a time. So if you are being hit with both ice and fire you can choose which to adapt to at the time. This effect is nullified when you remove the wheel and stop using the technique.
[The Indestructible Reptile (600 CP)]: •With this extraordinary perk, you unlock the unparalleled adaptability of SCP-682, the fearsome reptilian anomaly. Just like the entity itself, you possess the remarkable ability to rapidly adapt and overcome the most daunting challenges and threats. When threatened your body will rapidly adapt to the threat generating countermeasures. This extends to your body, mind, and even your very essence giving you an inherent capacity for adaptation. When confronted with hazardous or hostile environments, your physiology adjusts seamlessly, granting you immunity or resistance to the dangers that would affect others. Whether it be extreme temperatures, toxic substances, or other perils, your body can transform to withstand and thrive. •Should you dislike the adaption you may shed the physical changes while retaining the adaption. For example, if you don’t want a larger physical body your muscles might go denser and still retain your enhanced strength. Moreover, your mind exhibits an extraordinary capacity for strategic adaptation. When faced with intellectual challenges or mental assaults, your cognitive abilities sharpen, allowing you to analyze and counteract even the most complex of schemes. Your thoughts become nimble and your intuition keen, enabling you to swiftly devise creative solutions and outmaneuver those who would seek to undermine you. Should a threat fail to eradicate you in a single strike then you will only grow stronger from their effort. Perhaps eventually you can adapt beyond reality itself.
[God Hand (400 CP)]: •This perk allows you to access the legendary Noble Phantasm of the mythic hero, Heracles - the God Hand. Your body will become on par with divine-class conceptual armor, rendering you nearly invulnerable. Any method that kills you once will not be able to kill you again, providing you with eleven lives. In addition, these boons will be permanent, making you a constantly growing warrior. This represents the monumental achievement of the twelve labors of Greek mythology, granting you the ability to endure and overcome any obstacle. With this ability, death is not the end but the beginning, and you will emerge from each battle stronger than before. Lastly, these lives will be restored every ten years or once per jump whichever is shorter.

2024.06.10 02:20 RePsychological What consistutes "poaching" clients when leaving a business?

Basic background: (tl;dr down at the bottom for a speedier read if you prefer)
I'm a web designer by trade.
Boss pays 1099, instead of W-2, so we're technically sub contractors.
I have a few clients who've grown a relationship with me to the point of "I will only work with [that guy]."
At last count, we have about 2000 clients.
The company is a small-town business of about 25 people, not corporate.
I have a flimsy NCA that was put in place when I started working there, but my boss doesn't even know where it's at, every time I've asked for a copy of it to review it. He keeps claiming "It's in docusign somewhere, get with so-and-so." Problem is: That contract was hand-signed...not docusign...and the person who does our docusign has no record of it. So my boss and I both have no effin clue where that contract is. From what I remember though, it had these limitations:
  1. I couldn't use the company's "propietary blend" of sales lead generation (yeah right...all they've been doing is buying leads off the most mainstream lead generators)
  2. Tried to prohibit me from doing freelance work in my freetime (which I found out much later, way after it was too late for the financial damage it did to me, was an unreasonable inclusion since we're 1099, and even on W-2 employees judges have started laughin cases out of the room for trying to uphold it, because you can't control what people do in their free time as long as it's not with a competitor and they're controlling the line between side work and main work.). He was trying to act like he could sue me if I breached that, but no...in my state all he could do was fire me...right to work state.
  3. The part that I'm fuzzy on, is I don't think it had anything in there about poaching...or if there was, it was really vague, and essentially boiled down to "don't steal clients while working here."
Context:
Leaving my current job soon, because the boss has become flatout abusive.
BUT I have relationships with 3-5 clients who literally will not talk to anyone else on the team -- and I don't say that to be cocky. I'm only considering people who've expressly told me that I'm the main reason they stuck around. Heck one of the ones who came right out and said that...at one point there was some slight tension with them caused by one of our sales people and one of our support people, as (due to pressure from my boss not allowing them the time to handle it properly) they were barely giving him the time of day for an urgent issue. Then I sat with him on the phone for an hour and got it fixed. He told me (almost verbatim): "Why is it that anytime I try to talk to someone else, it becomes so hard to get anything done....yet when I'm on the phone with you, we get it squared away and I actually like working with you. I don't mind paying for this stuff. I'll pay whatever it takes. I just need someone to give a shit. If it's okay with you, I would really prefer that you're the only one I deal with there from now on."
A few of them even actually consider me a friend. Will either start asking about life plans while I'm doing work on the phone with them, upcoming weekend plans, etc. and have insisted that if I'm ever in their area, if I wanna save on a hotel, use their guest room or at least let them buy me lunch, etc. Like I said above, I've even had a couple/few who've outright told me that I'm the only one they want to speak with about work being done, because of how the others treat them.

The meat of the question (the TL;DR)

Remember: 1099, bullshit flimsy NCA in place that can't even be located, and even if it could, I've learned over the years that there were many misclassification violations in there that would not hold up (too broad of a "proprietary blend" of software usage, threatening to sue over doubleworking with freelancing, etc.). Basically the entire thing violated employee rights that I should have but don't and if he tried to sue me for any of it, it'd become a giant legal mess for him, likely getting the entire contract thrown out.
However, when I leave, I foresee those clients leaving the company too, once they realize I no longer work there.
I've been wondering what happens if they were to reach out to me after I leave. Like I said they will likely leave the company once they realize I have, and a few of them may likely try to establish work with me afterwards, since I was the primary reason they stayed
  1. Would it become poaching if I consider taking them on for freelance work? Even if they're the ones who reach out to me, and not the other way around?
  2. What do I need to be mindful of, so that it doesn't become poaching? Like is there a happy-medium way that I could carefully nudge these clients in that direction, even if it's just to tell them that I'm leaving (after I've given my two week notice), and then see what they do with that information?
  3. Am I overthinking this, and does poaching even apply here, since I'm 1099?
  4. What kinds of definitions apply to "poaching" that are just inherent with positions like mine? Are there any built-in rights that the company has or that I have, or is poaching 100% contract-based, and if a solid contract doesn't exist, it doesn't matter?
I know some people may reply to the effect of "bad vs good faith, even if it's legal." I understand and respect that viewpoint, but in this case I, subjectively, don't care. My boss has become an absolutely disrespectful ass, and while I'm not actively seeking revenge for that, I know that he doesn't respect those clients and I do genuinely care about them and their businesses. I'm not going to actively campaign to chase down clients, or smear the company's name....but it would be kinda nice to know whether or not, if these people were to reach out to me to work with me freelance instead of the company, that I'm legally safe from getting sued.
Thanks in advance for any advice that you guys can give.

2024.06.10 01:56 redAppleCore Installing ComfyUI in a Docker Container

With the recent malicious plugin news I thought it might be helpful for everyone to write a guide to help people install ComfyUI inside of a Docker container. Docker can be used to run a very stripped down version of Linux on your Windows machine that makes it much harder for malicious plugins to access your private information in Windows. It will make you "safer" but not "safe", you should still be careful when installing plugins.
Doing this can be a bit intimidating, but I will try and break things down as simply as I can, but if something isn't clear, please ask. If you're confused at some point I'm sure others are too. I'm doing this because making this user base as "unexploitable" as possible benefits all of us. The more careful we all are the less appealing it is for people to try, and they can find some other easy target. But, if you're someone who has been willing to learn how to install and use ComfyUI, I'm sure you have the skills to do this as well.
If you are someone who is more technically inclined, I'd appreciate you sanity checking this and helping less technically inclined users out.
Some disclaimers:
  1. I am a terrible writer, sorry.
  2. Docker has had vulnerabilities before that allowed an exploit in a container that allowed access to Windows. They very actively try and prevent this, but, it can and has happened. I can't guarantee anything. It is very important that you open the docker app and make sure you are up to date frequently. They make updating Docker very easy. (The bottom right of the app when opened will show a black checkmark if you are up to date and the version you are on)
  3. I'm not an expert in this, especially when it comes to Window's security. I am an expert in an adjacent field, but, it is still very possible I am not accounting for something massive, this is a genuine attempt to help but I'm not perfect. If anyone sees any part of this that feels wrong or like a mistake, please point it out.
  4. The majority of my experience is with Linux, where servers typically have very similar architecture. While I have this working on my Windows machine, I imagine there will be some machines that have quirks that I will not have any idea how to solve, but I will try!
  5. This will come with a slight hit to your speed. For me it adds around 5-10% to image generation time, but, you might be worse. (I did ask ChatGPT once if there were things I could do to reduce that penalty, and it said yes, but I've never tried it's suggestions and it might have been hallucinating. If a 5-10% increase isn't worth it to you, look into dual booting instead) - It also adds a pretty significant amount of time to the checkpoint load time. Once the checkpoint loads, you're good, but, if you swap checkpoints a lot, you'll notice it.
  6. I anticipate that some of you will run into issues I can't anticipate, you're all effectively guinea pigs. I ran this through myself on a computer I hadn't yet used for ComfyUI, but, that's the only test I have been able to do.
  7. I have changed the default port for ComfyUI in this to 8189 from 8188. If you still want 8188, edit both "ComfyUI.Dockerfile" (Line 36) and "Mounted/Scripts/StartComfyUI.sh" (Line 7) in a Linux friendly text editor (Sublime or Notepad++) after step 4. If you use the regular notepad on Windows to edit StartComfyUI.sh you are likely to run into problems.
Thanks for bearing with me through that, let's get started!
You need to have either Windows 10 or Windows 11 for these instructions... it's probably possible on Mac, but, I don't know any of the particulars.
STEP 1: Enable virtualization options in your BIOS
This is going to be different for different motherboards and is going to be one of the trickiest steps to explain. I would assume that any system able to run Stable Diffusion already will have support for it, but I might be wrong and you might have a system that can't do this... luckily if it can't, you should know on Step one! (There are some additional instructions you can look at for this here - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/enable-virtualization-on-windows-11-pcs-c5578302-6e43-4b4b-a449-8ced115f58e1 - including links to some manufacturer specific instructions)
STEP 2: Download and install Docker Desktop for Windows
STEP 3: Docker First Start
STEP 4. Downloading setup files
STEP 5: Running InitialStep.bat
STEP 6: Running Run.bat
Your created images will show up in C:\ComfyUIDocker\Mounted\Outputs - it will not exist until you create your first image.
I put a Models folder in the zip that you can use to put your checkpoints, loras, etc. I did this so if anyone does want to be able to go back to a clean slate they don't have to worry about it deleting their checkpoints, loras, etc. Because of this, you have to edit the extra_model_paths.yaml in C:\ComfyUIDockeMounted instead of in the normal ComfyUI folder if you want custom paths. You are still able to use the model/* folders inside the normal ComfyUI folder however if you'd like.
Hopefully you've made it here and everything is working. If so, congratulations! You should be able to breathe a lot easier now and you should be able to install plugins normally. Just make sure you use the "Run.bat" file going forward whenever you want to use ComfyUI. You should be able to just close the window that it opens up to shut ComfyUI down.
If you have any questions, at any point, feel free to message me. I cannot promise I will always be able to help, but I'm happy to try.
Zip File Contents
Every file can be opened with a text editor, eg: Sublime or Notepad++
  • ComfyUI.Dockerfile - This is a text file with a set of instructions for Docker for installing Linux and installing some necessary programs for ComfyUI (eg: Python)
  • InitialStep.bat - bat files are text files that contain a list of commands that Windows will execute in order. This one sets up the initial Docker container
  • Run.bat - This file starts up the Docker container created by InitialStep.bat, the container will keep the changes you make to it (eg: installing plugins)
  • Mounted folder: This folder will be read/write accessible to ComfyUI and it's plugins, your Output folder will be in here for images, as well as the ComfyUI installation - other than image files, do not open any executable files in this folder from Windows! (Though you can still open the files in a text editor in Windows, just don't run anything)
  • Mounted/extra_model_paths.yaml - This is a file ComfyUI will reads to know where to look for model files (in addition to it's defaults)
  • Mounted/HFCache folder: Some plugins download files from HuggingFace, they can be easily lost if not in a shared folder, so they will be saved here. Unless you know what you're doing, you should ignore it.
  • Mounted/Models folder: I put this here so you can put checkpoints, loras, embeddings, etc, here, so you can always wipe away your ComfyUI install if you want to start over. You can ignore it if you'd prefer.
  • Mounted/Scripts folder: I am putting the two Linux scripts that will run in here
  • Mounted/Scripts/Initial.sh: This will be started by InitialStep.bat - it downloads ComfyUI and ComfyUI-Manager from github, and installs some requirements for ComfyUI. You can open it in any text editor and review it.
  • Mounted/Scripts/StartComfyUI.sh: This file starts ComfyUI and runs every time Run.bat is run.

Whether you call it the evil eye, mal de ojo, or just plain bad juju, we’ve got some fun tips to help you shake off those negative energies. And while we’re at it, let’s dive into the amazing world of our Bitcoin QR code maker app. Ready for a magical journey? Let’s go!

Understanding the Evil Eye

First things first, what exactly is the evil eye? The evil eye is a look believed to cause harm, bad luck, or misfortune to the person at whom it is directed. This concept exists in many cultures around the world, from the Mediterranean and Middle East to Latin America and even parts of Asia. It's said that jealousy and envy are the primary drivers of this malevolent glare.

Tips to Ward Off the Evil Eye

1. Wear Protective Amulets

  • Hamsa Hand: This ancient symbol is believed to ward off evil. Wear it as jewelry or hang it in your home.
  • Evil Eye Charm: These blue glass beads with an eye in the center are popular in many cultures. Keep one in your pocket, wear it as a bracelet, or place it near your front door.

2. Use Salt

  • Salt has long been used to purify spaces and repel negative energies. Sprinkle a bit of salt around the perimeter of your home or dissolve some in water and spray it in areas you feel need cleansing.

3. Garlic and Onion

  • Hang a string of garlic or onions in your home to keep bad spirits and the evil eye at bay. Plus, it’s a great way to ward off vampires (just in case)!

4. Red Thread

  • In many cultures, a red thread worn around the wrist is believed to protect against the evil eye. Tie one on and keep those bad vibes away!
