2024.05.15 03:52 hess80 Not trying to offend

I can see that GME had one somewhat successful stock manipulation by people on the web who believed they could play the market. If you think that Wall Street and hedge funds will let it happen twice, you're mistaken. They are all in bed with each other. Citadel is a hedge fund that works with market makers. You are very confused if you think you have any hedge fund "by the balls." Yes, they will let you buy until you are clearly engaged in market manipulation. The stock will likely reach $150-250 before they disable the buy button. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, look at what happened last time. The buy button stopped working, and then you witnessed the drop, and the hedge funds won again. You cannot understand how intertwined the investment banks, hedge funds, and brokerages are. Enjoy the free $50 you may have left and learn more about the market. You will see that retail investors will never beat institutions.

2024.05.15 00:56 Catch_0x16 LEAPS: I think I stumbled on something, need brains.

Ok fuckers, I think I see what DFV is seeing - LEAP expiry.
LEAPS, or Long Term Equity Anticipation contracts are basically long duration call contracts. How long is the duration you say? Well, funnily enough, 3 FUCKING YEARS (39 months).
39 months? Wow, what date was 39 months ago? February 14, 2021. Right after the sneeze, right when 'sMaRt MoNe' was working out how to un-fuck itself.
I think this is what DFV has seen... The leaps are expiring, what does this mean? Well I believe it means that the short sellers are here to fuck the market makers in the ass - they aren't the good guys, but their exit strategy means scorched earth for the cucks stupid enough to sell them their LEAPS.
Wait, why?
Well, when the short sellers were hardcore underwater, rather than attempt to cover their short and get fucked as the exit closed when there were no shares to buy, instead they purchased LEAPS. This way they could keep their short in the game. A LEAP is a useful hedge for a short position, because when you decide you want out, you can exercise your contract to provide shares which you can use to unwind your short, it doesn't negate your losses, but it protects you against 'infinite risk' because you can get shares, you shift the risk onto the Market Maker who sold you the LEAP.
Why not just use calls, they're cheaper? Yes, calls are cheaper, but they have a much shorter expiry. Remember, the goal here is to never close the short, if they used calls they'd have to purchase 39 months worth. They want to hold the short in forever, so they buy LEAPS.
So, when the sneeze is blowing you up, you purchase LEAPS, and you purchase them at the furthest distance out (three years), they're cheaper than getting squeezed and easy, and you tell FINRA you're neutral on the trade. This way you don't have to close out your short (which would kill you). You hold on to your LEAP in the hope you never need to use it, you want the stock to hit 0 remember. You hope and pray those fucking stupid apes leave you and your crime alone.
Well fuck, 39 months has passed, how times flies. Now your LEAP is about to expire worthless, and you're still underwater. Time to pull the emergency handle, time to pop smoke and bug out - you execute your LEAP. The market maker has to sell you shares at whatever price your strike was, probably way OTM so it's costing your a lot, but fuck it, you need out and you've held on as long as you can. The biggest risk here is getting trapped, so by exercising your LEAP instead of hitting the open market, you hand that risk onto the market maker - it's his problem now, off your ride into the sunset, poorer but free.
This I think, is what DFV is seeing. I think he knows they used 39 month LEAPS to cover their short... I think he knows that the market makers are about to have to purchase more shares than exist in order to satisfy the contracts. If you're short and unprotected, you're about to get trapped.
Am I smoking crack here or are we onto something?
TLDR; Short sellers covered their short positions with LEAPS (long term calls) that are now expiring. They're executing the leaps to get shares to close out their positions - their time has run out and they've pulled the escape hatch.
Also credit to Complex37, RC tweeted a 🐸 emoji as his first post after the sneeze...
Just as another addendum to clear up the question of 'why would short sellers execute LEAPS'. We know Archegos was turbo short GME. We know Credit Suisse held those bags. We know UBS is currently trying to unwind that pile of shit. If UBS saw that LEAPS were being used to net out the shorts, it would make sense for them to execute them in order to unwind the Archegos/Credit Suisse shitpile. They can't keep Credit Suisse risk on their balance sheet forever, they have to clear it. The GME trade was nothing to do with them and I doubt they'd perpetuate it by rolling the LEAPS. - I wonder if we'll see UBS start to crumble soon...

2024.05.15 00:31 johnrushx Just reached $300k ARR & 130,000 users. Here is how:

Today is a very special day for me.
Unicorn Platform is at $300,000 ARR!
I bought it two years ago for $800k with 40k users.
After having one bad year after the purchase, the next year, I managed to grow it to 128,328 users, who built their Websites, Directories, Job Boards, Launchpads, and landing pages for their SaaS, Personal, App, Course, or Podcast.
How I got there (last 12 months):
1. Redesign.
I went through 1000+ support tickets one by one to 100 frequent requests.
At first, I wanted to start fixing them, but it'd taken us a year. I slept on this idea for a few weeks and realized that half of these may be solved by changing our entire UX from page-based to canvas-based. Like Notion, where there are no pages. It's only a canvas with a page, and everything else comes in popups.
It just erased 80% of the tasks from the backlog.
Then we tackled the remaining 20%(not all ofc, still working on it).
It reduced churn from double-digit to single-digit.
2. SEO.
I knew very little about SEO a year ago, so I had to learn a lot from scratch. Instead of implementing just one strategy, I went on to try pretty much all of them at once
3. Directories.
I saw traffic from directories 2 years ago on my other project(marsx). So it pushed really hard on listing on all directories for Unicorn Platform too. back then, most directories were not so popular yet, so I was kinda lucky to list there early and as they went viral, I got really good share of that traffic too.
4. Product Hunt.
We launched there in July. If you win the product hunt, there is a very long aftershock. You end up in newsletters and blog articles. We took 2nd place, but it was a very busy day. We scored over 1000 upvotes, so we got pretty good traffic and results.
5. Talking to users. Helping them.
I sent an email to every paid user asking for feedback and starting a discussion. I talked to at least 300 of them. It helped me figure out some low-hanging fixes I could do to keep them, and I also had a very strong network effect afterward. Many new users would tell me they got a recommendation from their friend.
Eventually, I started simply helping out all my users every day(I still spend at least an hour a day). For free. With my feedback on everything they ask, tips, and advice. I even connected one guy who was raising a round to an investor.
6. Social Media.
I shared all my steps—not just MRRs but my actual steps on how I got there and what I did. Many of such posts went viral and helped other makers grow their products. This led to X becoming the top 4 traffic source for sign-ups.
7. Traffic from my directories & products.
I have 24 products in total.
So my other 23 products drive traffic to this one via links in the footer and banners, and sometimes I recommend it in an email. About 30% of the traffic comes this way.
Also, I have over 20 directories, some of which are very successful, and they drive good traffic, too. I had a gut feeling about directories 3 years ago. But my friends kept saying, "Directories are out of hype by now..".
So, I gave up on the idea until November, when I launched the gpt directory, which went viral with millions of visits. After that, I built a few new directories every month.
8. Word of Mouth.
I track this via social media mentions, and it's my most important metric. It's the one in a pair with SEO that leads to PMF. In Jan last year, I was pretty sad to see that the viral "best landing page builders" posts on the internet would never have Unicorn Platform in them.
But all that I did above helped, and we started to appear in many such posts. Today, 90% of the mentions come organically from people on the internet.
Thank you people. Thx for sharing. I work really hard to justify your trust.
9. Affiliate partners.
I've been running it for 8 months, and it works.
People bring sign-ups, and they eventually convert into paying users. Easy to setup. No effort at all once it's running.
10. Paid ads.
This one is short: I tried and failed. Most likely, I need to learn more about this, or maybe it never works.
11. Sponsoring other directories.
I sponsored a few directories to place my banner there.
I like it. There is traffic. The ROI seems good. I wanna do more of it. If you have a directory that's visited by busy founders, let me know, and I may sponsor you.
12. More templates and blocks.
I hired an amazing designer. He is the next Johnny Ive, trust me. We created many new templates and components.
Now, we're working on a new update that will 10x the power of Unicorn when it comes to visual stuff. Once this is out, you'll forget what webflow and framer are.
Imagine getting similar power with 10x less time than is needed and 20x easier UX.
13. Cross promo.
We partnered with Senja by adding their testimonial block to our third-party blocks. Now, Unicorn users can add Senja blocks with just a few clicks. It's so powerful that users love it and use it. We drove traffic to Senja, and they drove some traffic to us by posting on social media about this integration. We may do more, for example, sending an email to all our users about Senja, and Senja sends an email to all their users about a Unicorn.
I have many more such collaborations coming. The next one is RapidForms. Users will be able to add very advanced forms with multiple steps and even payment steps.
Launching it next week.
If you think your product fits in, too, let me know.
We both will grow our userbase by doing these collabs.
That's it.
I may have missed some details.
Just ask me in replies, and I'll answer.
P.S.I don't read DMs here, only on X or Linkedin.

The MCQs for this test were brutal. The questions had the longest paragraphs explaining the situation. They were overall annoying and time consuming. I think I did pretty good had time for all of them except last 2. The FRQ was fair and nothing to crazy. I was confused how to draw free body diagram for FRQ #3. FRQ #1 and 2 were fair and not too challenging.

2024.05.15 00:21 ChrisDaDerp FULL Noctua PC Setup

FULL Noctua PC Setup
If there's a fan on my system, it's a Noctua. All are A12x25s, except the two front intakes which are A14x25s.
I did these mods because I wanted my system as silent as possible. I've done many performance and peripheral upgrades, but my PC making noise at idle always bothered me, and I had been using the same cooling (except CPU) since I first built the PC years ago. Temperatures are now lower than ever with fans running at lower RPMs and noise levels than before. I'd say I achieved my goal. (Not Noctua-specific but I also bought a P400A front panel for my P400S for better airflow. It was out of stock for over a year in the US and finally came back, which pushed me to do all this.)
• Case fans are case fans; nothing unique there.
• My CPU heatsink is a Cryorig H7 with the fan replaced. Temps dropped significantly on this, from like 75+ to 55 max. (That number is with every system fan upgraded, not just the H7 fan.)
• For my PSU, I have a Thermaltake GF1 850 watt (2024). It was listed as "silent," but that's only at idle; any load and it ramps up hard. The 2-pin to 4-pin adapter I bought didn't work so I cut a hole through the side and connected it directly to the motherboard. Getting inside this thing required unscrewing through stickers on the side and on top of the PSU case. They really don't want you getting inside it. This and my monitor were the two most annoying noise makers in my system, and also the most difficult to perform fan mods on.
• For my monitor, the AW3423DW -- the 4-pin mini (micro?) to 4-pin macro adapter didn't work, so I bought a USB A to 4-pin adapter that will turn on with the monitor + PC. I then added three low-noise adapters -- two 25 ohms and one 50 ohm. I mounted it with rubber bands and gave it a little space away from the aluminum to make it a little quieter. There was a single "guide" posted on Reddit on how to do this mod, but it included very few images and not a lot of detail on how to do anything, so I was largely guessing with this. He was able to plug the Noctua directly into the original fan's port with an adapter, but I was unable to get the fan to start when doing this. I have a dust filter on the way for this as well, since it has to be exposed. The stock monitor stand also does not work with the back cover removed, so I bought a VESA stand that frees up a lot of desk space for me. It is hanging on by two hooks which are sturdy, but is still minorly sketchy. (There is another fan on this monitor that is a laptop-blower style fan that pushes air up, which, as far as I know, Noctua does not make. It only activates sometimes but its ramp-up noise is annoying when it does. Might look into that if it continues to bother me.)
• Bought a mod kit off Etsy for my EVGA FTW3 3080 and it worked, but both fans are connected to the same fan output on the GPU because only one works with the Noctua. I just used one of the Y-cables for that. I don't know anything about electricity but my theory is the original fan's on everything had much lower power required to function and the Noctuas require too much, hence not moving. Temperatures are around 70 under load, which is about what it was before, but now it's silent when the fans start too!
Overall, I would say these mods were worth the time and effort. It was fun figuring everything out and doing my own unique-ish DIY project for once. Now I can't tell the difference between my PC idling and gaming, which is awesome. Here's my full parts list. I also wanted to make this post in case anyone else wanted to do similar mods, since there's not really documentation on this stuff. I can answer any questions in detail to help you out.

2024.05.15 00:15 CanIBorrowYourShovel DIY repair for Blue Ella /w dead battery (walkthrough inside)

Sorry for the lack of photos, but this one is easy to follow since the repair was so simple. This should be the same for all of the blue headphones with an internal amp
The blue ella has been discontinued, so it's selling for about $110 on amazon, down from its $700 MSRP. If anyone saw my review, I think they're easily the best closed backs under $200 by a country mile right now, with the ability to be used without the internal amp, with it to just cleanly amplify a weak source (amazing for my miyoo mini which has a stupidly weak amp) or with an "analogue" EQ mode that bumps the sub bass and warms it up a bit. I've been using them and adoring them, they're superb gaming cans. HOWEVER, I noticed the amplifier battery was lasting an absolutely wretchedly short amount of time, like 45 minutes. Turns out a battery powered device sitting in a box for like 7 years means the battery isn't gonna be very happy.
However, the repair was dirt cheap and super, SUPER easy. The battery is a very standard 3.7v, 1000mAh unit with the standard charging PCB covered in capton take inside the right earcup. I ordered a replacement one off amazon for $9 along with a $4 roll of double sided electrical tape. The replacement battery is 5x34x50mm, but the original is about 4x36x60 with another 1mm thickness of double sided adhesive foam. But the new battery fits just fine with some double sided tape that isn't 1mm (I used 1mm tape and it was a hair thick, but still worked. regular double sided tape is ideal) and the repair was a snap, only requiring a spudger or something to gently pry the earcup off (a butter knife would work) a t5 torx bit, and two little dots with a soldering iron (you should also get some solder and a little flux, some isopropyl alcohol and a Q tip to clean up the flux) and a pair of pliers or flush cuts to snip the connector off the replacement battery and strip back some wire. A pair of tweezers would be helpful too.
Firstly, remove the earcups (do both sides since it's easy and makes accessing the rest much easier) by gently placing the spudger or device between the brown of the earcup pad and the black plastic trim, and prying until it pops, then just work around, they'll pop right off. The bezel is very sturdy but be mindful of not nicking the pleather cups, they are glued to the frames and replacement pads are only really available through a custom pad maker like Vesper.
Now all we need to work on is the right side. Unscrew the 6 long T5 torx screws holding the driver and its bezel in place. The two short t5 screws just hold the bezel to the driver and can be left in place - removing them makes the whole thing a bit more unwieldy. The driver and bezel come right off, there's no adhesive. Don't lose the foam pad that goes between the driver and the rest of the earcup. Now remove the 2 t5 screws on the little cross brace that holds the battery down and set it aside.
Now we can remove the old battery - Safety dictates that you desolder the battery first - just follow the super obvious two wires to the board, make note or take a picture of which is red and which is black, and desolder them. The solder joints on mine were quite aged, so a touch of flux and fresh solder was necessary, but this is about as easy as soldering work gets. Once the battery is desoldered, use your spudger or pry tool to gently pry on the sides of the battery to release the adhesive. it's not super strong adhesive and mine came free with minimal effort.
Now place some double sided tape on the replacement battery and put the replacement battery in its place. the little battery "tray" makes lining it up easy. Align it the same way the old battery was, with just tape on one side. My new battery had a JST connector, so I snipped it off and stripped the wires back about 2mm. Tin your wires by touching them with some flux and fresh solder. Then I used some tweezers to hold the wire down while I soldered them in. Wipe up any excess flux with a little isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip, make sure the solder didn't bridge between the positive and negative, and put it back together! Don't forget the little cross brace that clamps the battery down first, then orient the foam/drivebezel pack in place and screw it down. Pop the ear cups back on by pressing down on their very outside edge to make 'em clip into place. Charge it up and enjoy!
(one piece of advice when screwing screws back into plastic - when you put the screw into the hole, first turn it backwards until you feel a little bump or click, and THEN drive it in. This prevents cross-threading and accidentally chewing up the threads. And be mindful of not over-tightening. They aren't going to come loose on their own very easily, plastic is a lot grippier than screwing metal into metal, so you don't need to torque anything down.)
If your amp switch ever starts to get wonky, I also discovered in my disassembly adventure that the knob just engages with a regular slider switch like a gameboy uses. You can just touch some contact cleaner in that switch if it ever gets weird.
Overall, I was really impressed at how easy they are to repair and how pleasantly standard the battery is. I was worried that maybe I'd only ever just use them unamplified (which isn't too hard, as I understand they're fostex T50 drivers) but for maybe... 15 minutes of work start to finish, they're as good as new.
Now I just need to see how long these vinyl pads last before I have to get vesper audio to make me some proper leather replacements. I hate pleather.

We're looking for 10 Juniper Certified Engineers to Provide Feedback on a SaaS Network and Device Monitoring Solution
Hey Juniper Certified Engineers,
For the past few years, we’ve been talking to many JNCIA certified engineers with a goal of better understanding how to best visualize and monitor networks they deploy. Historically, they’ve been leveraging tools like Eve-NG, GNS3, and MS Visio for certifications, network diagraming and design (also synthetic monitoring). Some of you have also been leveraging various SaaS products to monitor networks they deploy.
We kept hearing from engineers asking us to marry the network simulators/emulators with network monitoring applications. So, we decided to do just that.
Here is What They Requested of Us:
  • Real-Time Topology Mapping: Just like you, we’ve built and tested networks in simulations. Now you can bring this into a real environment, allowing you to map and manage your network of Juniper routers and switches with live data.
  • Geospatial Mapping: Quickly knowing where your Juniper devices are physically can be just as crucial as knowing how they perform.
  • Instant Alerts on Network Issues: Monitoring for port flaps, err-disabled ports, throughput data on ports, delivering alerts in real time to help you preemptively address potential issues.
  • Direct Device Management: A centralized place to manage your devices directly through interfaces you're already familiar with—SSH/Telnet, HTTP, or HTTPS.
  • Intuitive Interface: Straightforward, easy to navigate interface that’s similar to the tools you’ve used before (network simulators and MS Visio).
We’re looking for around ten JNCIA certified engineers to provide feedback to see if this would be useful for you. Please comment below if you’re interested and we’ll contact you directly.

2024.05.14 21:53 Mobile-Career-316 Type me please.

• How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.
  1. Either agender and/or pangender. I’m also either asexual and/or pansexual. I live comfortably alone but have a decent number of friends that I maintain communications with. Onlookers seem to believe I am dating all of them (not all at once but individually depending on which one I am “closest” to), which I take to mean that I apply no distinction between a friend and a partner (which I can agree with), hence the asexual/pansexual duality. Not really sure what this has to do with typing but there's a description.
• Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow?
Yes.
• Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it?
I had a whole paragraph here but I realised it was probably very NSFW so I've decided to remove this part.
• What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not?
I’m an engineer, a mix of both hardware and software. I like the work of my job, but I don’t care much for the job or career part of it. I don’t have any career ambitions and would rather just learn the skills that the work can provide me and then move on to becoming entirely self-sufficient and only working for myself. I don’t think it's the other people aspect I dislike here as such, more the lack of independence and control over how I spend my time. That said, it’s worth it to live on my own two feet away from disturbances in the house.
• If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
I know I would be completely fine, as I do this regularly. I don’t think I feel lonely nor refreshed. I generally have plenty to do with my time and find ways to occupy myself, even if that involves doing nothing and resting. If I’m interested in someone's thoughts or feelings on a topic I will just message them without issue and I usually do this once or twice a day, but there are many occasions in which I will just be focused on doing my own thing and won’t have contacted anyone.
• What kinds of activities do you prefer? Do you like, and are you good at sports? Do you enjoy any other outdoor or indoor activities?
I do all kinds of activities, from reading to games to sports. I’m very good at sports and enjoy them, but I usually choose to stay inside over doing them. I think to an onlooker a lot of my activities could look more like work than fun, but I get fun out of them. You would be most likely to find me (or not) inside reading some kind of research paper or building a machine. If not that then you’d find me playing a single player RPG/sandbox style game and if not that then you’d probably find me meditating/introspecting. You’d probably only find me outside playing sports if I’d been asked to by a friend.
• How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
Very curious. I research just about everything in depth and if I had free time I would research even more. It’s become something of an inside joke at work that I will come in and have some kind of new theory or discovery to share with the office about some random topic that has nothing to do with the last. I don’t think I have more ideas than I can execute, it's more that I have more ideas than I do execute. I’m actually not a very ambitious person despite my insatiable curiosity, so there are many occasions where I will do nothing at all. Aside from the theories I create from whatever information/topic I have been researching, most of the ideas I present to others are to do with having fun. I often create small games using the objects we have in our environment (like playing cards or checkers pieces) on the spot, improvising the rules as we go along DnD style. I actually was invited to play DnD once with a friend group but I was something of a nightmare of a player since I would come up with completely outlandish ideas that the DM couldn’t handle. I was never invited to a session again after that.
• Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
Being a leader isn’t tied to my self identity at all, but it does seem to be the impression other people get about me. I have been told several times that I would make a good cult leader (concerningly) and that I always seem to end up in charge of a situation. I don’t really do this on purpose but a lot of the time I am the only one who will speak up and start moving a group forward when we are in a situation that calls for it. I have been told that I am quite a diplomatic leader that makes sure people get along, have something to do and feel supported. That said, I personally don’t like telling people what they should value. I am of the belief that it is their own choice to decide that. I will however help people by telling them the actions they could take in line with those chosen values. I also think conflict is quite important and I will only try to keep the conflict civil without ending it until both parties are satisfied and have conveyed everything they wish to. This also includes conflict with me, I dislike “sweeping things under the rug”.
• Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity?
I think I am. I often feel as though my entire body is under my control and I am very intune with any physical sensations. I fear being paralyzed or losing mental integrity. This is the reason I avoid dangerous and reckless behavior that could result in losing control of my mind or body. I will not partake in highly “extreme” sports such as free climbing and I will not consume any kind of drugs to an extent that it affects my mental state, including alcohol.
• Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particularly artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forms of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.
I’m not actually sure. I like writing stories and drawing, but I wouldn’t consider myself an artist. I am very interested in art and have been learning how to properly paint and create music on and off for a while now. I think it's probably similar to sports in the sense that I enjoy it but rarely choose it over another activity. I don’t really enjoy going to art museums, I find art to be subjective so interacting with it from such an objective standpoint disinterests me. A lot of my friends are artists and I support them in their endeavors.
• What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
I don’t think about the past much unless I actively make myself do so to search for something there. I am very in tune with the present and am constantly looking out for dangers in my environment and observing people, but it's not my main way of thinking. I am almost always thinking about the future, both in terms of potential futures as well as what future I am aiming for. I have some trouble deciding on a future to aim for since all of the options seem so appealing and I don’t particularly want to close any of them off. There is a part of me that wishes I was immortal so that I could experience as much of everything as possible. This is probably also the part of me that likes stories and hearing the experiences of others since I get to understand a whole other world with its own futures in such a short amount of time.
• How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
I will help immediately. I’m not entirely sure why but I imagine it has something to do with me enjoying solving problems, whether that problem is mine or anothers. I have largely minimized my worldly connections and needs so I often appear to “go out of my way” to help others even if it appears like it's sacrificial to myself. I don’t find it sacrificial to myself at all. I don’t need anything to be comfortable, it’s all just building upon that initial comfort as a kind of “excess” or “abundance”. I could lose everything I own tomorrow and be absolutely fine. All of this to say, I don’t sacrifice myself for others, I just help them most likely because I enjoy it. I do not consider myself a “good” person for doing this, in fact I do not really believe in the concept of good or evil at all.
• Do you need logical consistency in your life?
I think the fact that I immediately thought both yes and no for this question points to me not needing it. I certainly try to be logically consistent, but it's not the end of the world if I’m not. I think it's more important to me that I not be in denial about it.
• How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
I do aim for efficiency but it’s not very important to me. While I do want to make the most of my time in this life, if I don’t feel like doing anything then I won’t. I’m comfortable with being unproductive and “lazy” for as long as I like.
• Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
I think I’m indirectly controlling. I don’t use force to control people (at least not anymore), I’m more inclined to engineer the circumstances of a situation in a way that results in people choosing to move in one of the ways that I want them to. Nobody has told me I am controlling, nor do they seem to feel they are being controlled. I don’t really do this intentionally, it just ends up being the path that I go down based on the options I have available (perhaps I am being controlled by something as well?). I’m not sure why I do this but if I had to guess it would be to protect myself and others from being hurt, after all you can’t be hurt if the option isn’t even available.
• What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?
See activities. My topics of interest are usually to do with people, nature or technology.
• What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
I teach myself things. I always seem to find teachers/tutors intellectually suffocating. Outside of that I take any form of information possible.
• How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
I break tasks down instinctively. I do like to plan out the whole project before I start but I have no problem deviating from the plan and improvising if I think of something I like the sound of more. This usually results in the finished project looking very different from the plan and taking longer than it could have.
• What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally?
None really. I’m content with just existing. However, in terms of what I choose to pursue it would be perfection in all fields, having all knowledge and having experienced everything, as well as transmitting this perfection to everyone else so that they stand beside me. More realistically, I’m trying to buy some land and build a community so that as many people are under my direct protection and responsibility as possible. The world has many powerful people that are looking to exploit the innocent solely for their own gain. I’m not expecting a utopia but I would hope it would be more comfortable for people to live in than the insecurity of greater society. It’s nice to think of spending the rest of my days with this small community.
• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
As mentioned earlier, I fear losing autonomy of my body and mind. I think I would still be comfortable in this state as I would get used to it but I actively avoid it coming to pass. I don’t think I hate anything, I don’t think in black and white. I’m not even sure I think in shades of gray, it seems more like the whole spectrum of color to me. I mentioned I don’t really believe in good or evil. In the event that someone is judged as evil by the world I can easily look at them and find just as many things people would find good. Does this make me endlessly accommodating of the actions of others? Certainly not. It’s just a matter of managing a conflict of interests, which is not something I struggle with.
• What do the "highs" in your life look like?
I can’t really think of anything that would fit a “high”. I think the closest thing would be my family and my friends. I’m not sure why they are what comes to mind. I mentioned before that I would be comfortable with losing everything I own since I have discarded worldly attachment, but for some reason when I think of losing people it's not such an easy answer.
• What do the "lows" in your life look like?
There was a time just after I had graduated high school and before I had moved out that I was highly depressed. I lacked any kind of purpose or direction in life and thought that I should have it. I also felt immense guilt over the harm I had caused throughout my school life. I believed that I should hide myself away from all life so that I never had the choice to take those actions again. It took me over a year living in this state to finally pull myself out of it. I discarded my need for a purpose or a direction and I discarded the need to be forgiven for the past so that I could live a new life. I discarded any other need that I could find as it is when a need is unmet that you enter a victim mindset, which is a mindset that I really want to avoid in me.
• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
I’m not attached to reality at all. I daydream very often but I do pay close attention to my surroundings while I do so. I think having extremely sensitive senses helps with this. I have quite a vibrant and detailed imaginary world.
• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
I would think about the same things I do as I fall asleep. In other words, I’d just daydream about hypotheticals and the future. Possibly not the future in this case as there might not be one but I imagine I’d be able to entertain myself endlessly in my head.
• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
I think of myself as having 3 decision makers. My rational mind, my sensory body/gut and my emotional heart. If all 3 are in agreement, I am able to make a decision very quickly. If 2 are in agreement, I will take longer to weigh up the options before I choose as often they will end up in agreement after I have thought it through. I will do the same if none are in agreement. In the event that they still can’t come to a unanimous decision I will flip a coin or roll a dice and go with the option that picks. I do this no matter how “important” the decision is.
• How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
Apparently I don’t feel emotions in the way other people do (at least according to the people I’ve spoken to about this). I tend to recognise emotions through the bodily sensations they apply to my body, for example, I can tell if I'm angry by my body feeling hot and my jaw feeling tense. With reference to my 3 decision makers, this means I can only figure out what my heart is telling me by going through my body. In chaotic or highly sensory situations where there is not enough time or space to recognise what I am feeling, it’s as though I am not feeling any emotion at all. I tend to think they are just as important as the other 2 decision makers when deciding things, as emotions are the basis for deciding what you value. If you don’t know what you value, you can’t determine what the best actions are for you to take according to those values, which results in nihilism. I think people would be surprised to learn that I consider emotions important. I have an almost entirely inexpressive face and a monotone voice which has resulted in me being called a robot quite often. In the times that I do have an expression, it is usually fake and done to make the other person feel more comfortable.
• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
No. If I want to keep the conversation going then I will intentionally disagree with them to see how far they can take their opinion and understand it better. If I disagree with someone, I will inform them of my perspective. I do not wish for them to agree with me to “appease” me, although I will understand if they make that choice. I want them to inform me of their whole perspective so that I can understand it. If they can convince me after all this, then I will truly agree with them. This is not always the case though, I can imagine times that I would pretend to agree with someone, but it would have to be “worth” it.
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why?
I don’t think rules are set in stone. If I disagree with a rule and there are no meaningful consequences, then the rule may as well not exist for me. I make no comments on others' takes on that. I will challenge authority any time I want to. Whether or not they “should” be challenged depends on what you value in an authority, but for my case the answer is yes they should be. In the event I am an authority I would want to be challenged, it would be both an opportunity to test my ability as well as to exchange information with people.

2024.05.14 21:51 marcusroar Scan digital mementos on your iPhone and view them on your AVP in 3D

Hello 👋 I’m the solo developer of a free iOS app called Objy, and I recently updated it with a feature for AVP users - I was hoping for your feedback.
Objy is an iOS app, and like many of the 3D scanning apps out there, it uses Apple’s Object Capture on-device photogrammetry to quickly and easily capture 3D digital replicas.
The latest version of Objy generates a public URL, so you can share your captures with anyone, including your AVP. Just open the link, click “Viewing on a Vision Pro? Click here!” and once the model is loaded, you can open it via downloads and it’ll persist in your space to enjoy!
You can try a few of my favourite captures here to see what I mean:

Why isn’t this an AVP app? I am based in Australia where the AVP isn’t released, I hope one day I’ll be able to get one, although it’s a little out of my budget right now too.
You can download Objy for free from the iOS App Store. I’d appreciate any feedback you have. https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/objy-3d-scanning-web-sharing/id6478846664
I recently wrote a short post on how you might use Objy to create and share engaging AR experiences online for baked goodies, you might be interested in 😎

2024.05.14 21:47 NickSalvo Is there a Venn Diagram for Zappa and BBQ fans?

I ask because I just created a rub I'm calling "Dust of the Grand Wazoo" and wasn't sure if anyone here was interested. Either way, cheers.

2024.05.14 21:42 Available_Map_5369 Options Plays for Income - Money Moves for May 13 & 14, 2024 ; Meme Stock Rally 2.0

Account Starting Balance this Week: $4,085.15
Back with another week with the iron condors, lazy plays on earnings. It worked out well during the first week (catch the wrap up here). Let's see if we can repeat the adventure this week.

Lack of Earnings To Start the Week

We are nearing the end of the quarter earnings sessions. There are a few names left, including the big guns Nvidia, however that won't be until next week. This week we have a lot of consumer driven companies.

Gamestop Rally

Did anyone notice the subtle moves Gamestop was making last week? It started around Wednesday and quietly crept into the close of the week. I had heard about it but to be honest, I don't really pay much attention to meme stocks lately so I didn't really think anything of it.
Then we get the return of u/DeepFuckingValue to Twitter on Sunday night and it completely changed the stock market for retail traders.
I watched it in the morning, pre-market made a big move on Monday but then opened up rather weak so I just figured I would watch. Really kicking myself on that one for not jumping in, because we saw a massive pull up, 5-6 market halts and a hold the line into the close. I made a play, but I thought it'd be a loser since I joined in "late"
Then today.... wake up to one of the most beautiful pre-market charts I've ever seen lol. GME top ticks hitting $80 three times. It's a ton weaker now as I write this post, having shrunken to about $45 a share. But... there's a lingering feeling of revenge coming. I can't even remember how many times GME was halted today. And I think we are having a standoff between retail traders who see maybe another market maker enemy in sight. I wouldn't be surprised if the meme stocks explode in after hours and pre market trading again. As for me, my play got stopped out at a nice profit level so I'm happy where I am. But I'm considering another play at market close because of the thesis above. I don't think it's done just yet.

The Plays

Ticker Max Risked (Price) Premium or P/L (% RoR)
*GME $30 Call May 17, '24 ($900; 1 contract) +$1,100 (222%)
**GME $20 Put May 17, '24 ($414 total; 3 contracts) Open
HD $250 $53.76 (21.5% RoR)
BABA $100 $25.76 (25.8% RoR)
ONON $100 $23.76 (23.8% RoR)
*LAZR $3 Call May 17, '24 ($48 total; 16 contracts) -$32.75
***AMC $2,000 $29.52 (1.5% RoR)
MNDY $1,000 $219.76 (22.0% RoR)
TOTALS $4,812 $1,419.81 (29.5% RoR)
\ stopped out of trade*
\* took this short-term short when I opened up the yolo call just as a hedge. Pretty much worthless as it stands now, however, I'm planning to vertical spread this one either at open Friday or closer to the end of day to try and recoup some of the losses and/or even make a profit. We'll see)*
\** Took a very long-term short position here and opened a vertical spread this week with a closer to the money strike. That's why the max risked is so high because there are numerous contracts at a $4 spread in between legs. If it works out, I have some long term puts completely free. If not... just a bit of position management will get through it.*
I'm a little out of my entire budget for the week already. Which to me, is ok because without this meme stock rally I wouldn't have been so tied up. But, opportunities only come knocking a few times a year, so I figured I would take a chance with this one.
