2024.05.29 09:01 Late_Arugula_640 My partner cracked it with me when he was drunk and now won’t talk

My partner cracked it with when he came over. He got really drunk and was watching soccer. When he is in that state he can’t remember anything afterwards. He told me the same thing three times and then when he thought I wasn’t listening he bolted upright and said he had the shots with me because I didn’t understand (what he was raving on about). He then cracked it further and went home without saying anything to me.
That night he also hit my cat knocking her about 2 feet and she hit the wall. My cat sometimes bites if you pet her in the wrong place - which she did - however I don’t think that treatment is fair.
My partner is a tight arse and very controlling in that he tries to get me to spend less and wants to go to the cheapest places.
Generally he is a caring person, but her has bouts of anger because he drinks, and the. when I try and talk to him he just deflects and blames me for every.
I have been with him for 2 years but am at a loss on what to do because I still care about him but he really scared me the other evening.

https://preview.redd.it/tk19oooidb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78e08daa990d8646e316de3dd4a72c6747b318a5
The Reptilia aus Offset MNT Acro FDE 100-230 is a sleek and durable scope mount that has made an impact in my daily shooting routine. This anodized finish, flat dark earth unit fits snugly on my beloved Aimpoint ARCO 100-230. The versatility it brings to the table makes my aim more precise and stable.
One of the best aspects is the offset positioning of the mount that allows for increased accuracy and ease of use. This product surely adds value to the gear arsenal of Remington 870 users, helping them make swift and precise shots.
It's not all ups though. The slightly higher price point can be a deterrent for some, but in my experience, the high quality and durability it provides justifies the investment. It's a reliable, solid piece of equipment that elevates the shooting experience in a unique way.

🔗45 Degree Offset Mount for Heavy Load Connections

https://preview.redd.it/racxya7jdb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=713d267a9dbbeaa04572aab54faf26f8b8581d65
I recently needed to strengthen a connection in my project and came across this 45 Degree Offset Mount. It's a sturdy little piece that easily attached to my project, providing the additional reinforcement I needed. The anodized finish gives it a sleek look and the pre-machined counterbores helped in lining it up perfectly.
The mounting process was effortless too, with the slide-in fastener design and the included socket head cap screws, T-nuts, and washers. However, one downside I noticed was that it's designed for a specific connection type, so it might not be the most versatile option.
Overall, this 45 Degree Offset Mount is a solid choice if you need to add some extra support and can accommodate its specific requirements.

🔗Premium 45-Degree Offset Mount with Laser Etched Marks

https://preview.redd.it/jko1d7djdb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f72a21b9682eeb353bc98a680a9cfe3a6d661d2
When I first heard about the AAE Gripper Offset Bracket, I was a bit skeptical. However, once I gave it a try, I was blown away by its performance. This little gem has made a huge difference in my day-to-day life, especially when it comes to shooting.
One of the things that stood out to me was the construction of the bracket. It's made with 7075 aluminum, which is known for its strength and rigidity. This made a big difference in how secure my setup felt when I had it mounted. The gripper tapered engagement also provided a maximum surface area contact, which further enhanced the stability of my gear.
However, there were a couple of hiccups along the way. The bolts that came with the bracket initially gave me problems with seizing or binding, as mentioned in the reviews. But once I got the hang of the BLS system, it was a breeze to work with. I loved how the recessed mounting hole gave the bracket a clean and finished look when mounted.
Overall, the AAE Gripper Offset Bracket has exceeded my expectations. It's a top-notch product that offers a great balance of strength and flexibility. It may not be perfect, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Give it a try, and I'm sure you'll be as impressed as I was.

🔗45 Degree Angled Pedestal Mount for Cable Entry Sets

https://preview.redd.it/dzrso7pjdb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c11b1372352678474a9b818e8902b83b74025f10
As someone who's always in search of a clean and practical option for mounting their device, I was thrilled to try the ProClip USA Angled Top Part. Measuring at 50mm, it conveniently provided a 45-degree angle, perfect for cable entry sets and parts.
With an Allen key and two screws included, the installation process was a breeze. The black color was subtle and didn't stand out, blending well with the overall aesthetics of my car.
However, I noticed that it required the use of the holder, which I found to be a minor drawback. Overall, it's an efficient and stylish solution for mounting devices on the go.

🔗Easy Installation 45-Degree Offset Phone Mount

https://preview.redd.it/2e7bjy2kdb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6f44774febc80c4d1d50321edfcedc6995e740b
I recently found myself in need of a versatile and sturdy phone or drink holder for my motorcycle. After hearing a friend's recommendation, I decided to give the Ciro Offset Perch Mount a try. With its easy installation process and the ability to be mounted either right-side up or upside down, this mount proved to be a game-changer for me.
One feature that stood out to me was its 45-degree offset, allowing me to keep my phone or drink holder 2 inches away from my hand controls, making it more accessible while on the go. Made of durable die-cast aluminum and available in a sleek chrome finish, this mount added an extra touch of style to my bike.
However, I did find that it took a bit of time and patience to get the positioning just right, which may be a bit frustrating for some. Overall, the Ciro Offset Perch Mount was a valuable addition to my motorcycle and I'm happy with my decision to try it out.

🔗Minka-Aire 45 Degree Slope Ceiling Adapter for Optimal Light and Airflow

https://preview.redd.it/siorgbgkdb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a2415874f3c9f37d0dc7265cc786e5a354540f5
I recently gave the Minka-Aire 45 Degree Slope Ceiling Adapter Flat White A245-WHF a try when renovating my living area. The design was sleek and modern, blending seamlessly with the rest of my decor. It worked like a charm for angled ceilings, providing much-needed light and airflow to the space.
One particularly impressive feature was the sturdiness of the adapter. Made of durable metal, it felt robust and well-built, with no signs of flimsy construction. Additionally, the ease of installation made the process a breeze, even for someone like me who doesn't consider myself a handy person.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks worth mentioning. Firstly, the instructions could have been clearer and more detailed. I found myself struggling a little initially, trying to figure out how everything fit together. Another downside was that it wasn't compatible with all Minka-Aire fans, making the product less versatile than expected.
Overall, this 45 Degree Slope Ceiling Adapter lived up to its promise, offering a stylish solution for dealing with angled ceilings. While it wasn't perfect, the pros certainly outweighed the cons in my experience.

2024.05.29 09:00 4BetterM1nd [Weekly Poll] What human need are you lacking most in your life right now?

Are you taking care of your 6 human needs?
Remember that they all are very important for you to be happy without pornography.
So if you are taking care of them - you will quit your addiction much faster, because you will not need fake source of pleasure to be happy.
You will already be happy!

Here are 6 human needs description and tips:

Gives you confidence, sense of security and trust.
If you don't have it - you will feel a lot of pressure, stress and anxiety, because you don't trust anyone or everything that is happening in the world or around you. (You will feel bad)
However - if you have too much certainty - you will feel BORED and Overwhelmed. That's a feeling of being stuck in a predictable, boring routine.
And in many cases, including mine - boredom is one of the main triggers for addiction, because you will tend to look for something that can excites you. And nothing can excites you more than something that gives you so much PLEASURE!
Bad Certainty Behavior: Overeating, control of others, binge watch TV/Netfilx/Anime, procrastination, etc..
Manage your certainty by - cleaning, developing empowering rituals(workout, exercise, meditation, reading, etc), focusing on the things you want in life, instead of listening or following others.

You might be asking - ''but why the Heck I need Uncertainty?''
That's the FUN part. It will get you out of the BOREDOM of certainty.
Our human needs are built in a very strange way, that they actually are in conflict with each other. But if you look deep - you will understand that it is exactly what gives your life Drive and Excitement!
That's why you need Uncertainty, or in other words - Variety.
You need to have something unpredictable happening in your life, or else - it will be boring!
That's like - eating one and the same dish all the time. Very soon - you will get bored or even sick of it!
Bad Uncertainty Behavior: Overwhelm, drug, intoxication, change TV channels/Anime/Netfilx, Self sabotage, create drama and problems.
Manage your Uncertainty by: new challenges, changing the meaning of events, hobbies, be creative, learn and discover new things

In short - if you don't care about this - you will feel LONELY.
And loneliness is the MAIN triggereason for you to stay in this addiction! No matter you like it or not!
Love & Connection is when you feel that someone is actually caring about you. Or supports you in a certain way.
We all need this feeling! Or else - we will feel very Lonely.
Bad Love & Connection Behavior: being needy, self harm, unhealthy/toxic relationships
Manage Love & Connection by: sharing, supporting others, connect through nature, faith, loving and respecting yourself, independent relationships
Tip: If you can't create relationships right now for one reason or another - Spirituality and connection with God also takes part of this Human Need!

This human need is all about being heard, noticed, recognized and simply - listened.
It is the feeling of being unique, special and being needed.
If you don't have it - you will feel worthless and depressed.
Bad Significance Behavior: People can often raise their sense of significance by using alcohol, engage into arguments, talk gossips, being victim, tell sad stories about self, rebellion or surround yourself with people who seems less skilled or attractive, so you can stand out.
This approach is neither good nor healthy.
Manage your Significance by: directing your competitive nature into healthy activities, like sports, mastering new skill, speaking up, mastering a craft or field, achieving goal or volunteering.

"𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦." 𝙏𝙤𝙣𝙮 𝙍𝙤𝙗𝙗𝙞𝙣𝙨
If you are not growing as an individual - sooner or later it will make you feel bad, or even worthless. Especially if you have friends, or someone you know, who are doing better than you and are completely succeeding in life, while you are not moving at all.
Don't worry - you can become someone you always wanted to be, if you will take this human need seriously!
Bad Growth Behavior: Gathering information without applying. (Learning is cool and might be very exciting, but without applying it in real life - it is worthless.)
People whose core need is growth are always striving to be better and learn more.
Manage your Growth by: self development, leaning & practicing, pursuit of mastery, teaching others (The more you teach - the better you learn)
Don't forget emotional and spiritual growth as well!

Last but not least - feeling of doing something MEANINGFUL.
It is a sense of service and focus on helping, giving and supporting others.
Colleagues, schoolmates, people in college, your family, friends, or just random person on street...
Giving back is the best way to fulfill this need. The closer the cause is to your heart, the more fulfilled you will feel.
Bad Contribution Behavior: Giving to get, being a martyr, not taking care of self
Manage your Contribution by: volunteering, donating, helping people (I believe animals can be included as well)
Tip: help people who are struggling to start quitting porn addiction. While you are still not done with this - you are way ahead of those who are only starting, right?
Go ahead and help others! Keep others accountable and you will feel better as well!

2024.05.29 08:59 enterslices How to Ensure Data Security with a Payment Gateway License

A Payment Gateway License plays a crucial role in ensuring that businesses comply with strict security standards, safeguarding data and building trust with consumers. Here’s how to ensure data security with a Payment Gateway License in India.

Understanding the Importance of Data Security

Data security is the foundation of any successful online business. It involves protecting customer information from unauthorized access, breaches, and fraud. When customers enter their payment details online, they trust that their information will be handled securely. A Payment Gateway License ensures that businesses adhere to stringent security protocols, minimizing the risk of data breaches and fraud.

Implementing Advanced Encryption Technologies

One of the key requirements for obtaining a Payment Gateway License is the implementation of advanced encryption technologies. Encryption converts sensitive data into a coded format that can only be deciphered with the correct key. This protects information during transmission, ensuring that even if data is intercepted, it cannot be read by unauthorized parties.
  1. Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Encryption: SSL encryption establishes a secure connection between the customer’s browser and the payment gateway, ensuring that data transmitted during the transaction is encrypted and protected.
  2. Tokenization: Tokenization replaces sensitive payment data with a unique identifier or token. This token can be used for processing payments without exposing the actual data, adding an extra layer of security.
  3. End-to-End Encryption (E2EE): E2EE encrypts data from the moment it is entered until it reaches its final destination, preventing unauthorized access at any point during the transaction process.

Adhering to Compliance Standards

To maintain a Payment Gateway License compliance and PA, businesses must comply with industry standards such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). PCI DSS outlines a set of security requirements designed to protect cardholder data.
  1. Regular Security Audits: Conducting regular security audits helps identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with PCI DSS standards. These audits assess the effectiveness of security measures and provide recommendations for improvement.
  2. Vulnerability Assessments: Regular vulnerability assessments identify potential weaknesses in the payment gateway’s security infrastructure. Addressing these vulnerabilities promptly helps prevent data breaches.
  3. Strict Access Controls: Implementing strict access controls ensures that only authorized personnel have access to sensitive data. This includes using multi-factor authentication (MFA) and role-based access controls to limit data access.

Real-Time Monitoring and Fraud Detection

Real-time monitoring and fraud detection are essential components of a secure payment gateway especially for institutions operating under a Payment Bank License list. By continuously monitoring transactions, payment gateways can quickly identify and respond to suspicious activities.
  1. Transaction Monitoring: Monitoring transactions in real-time help detect unusual patterns or behaviours that may indicate fraud. This includes monitoring for high-value transactions, multiple transactions from the same IP address, or transactions from high-risk locations.
  2. Fraud Detection Algorithms: Implementing advanced fraud detection algorithms can help identify potential fraud before it occurs. These algorithms analyze transaction data to identify patterns and anomalies that may indicate fraudulent activity.
  3. Instant Alerts: Setting up instant alerts for suspicious activities allows businesses to respond quickly to potential threats. This can include temporarily freezing accounts, requiring additional verification, or blocking transactions until further investigation.

Building Consumer Trust

A Payment Gateway License not only ensures data security but also helps build consumer trust. When customers see that a business is licensed and complies with stringent security standards, they are more likely to feel confident that their information is secure.
  1. Transparent Privacy Policies: Communicating privacy policies and data protection measures helps reassure customers that their information is being handled securely.
  2. Visible Security Seals: Displaying security seals and certifications on your website can enhance customer confidence. These seals indicate that your business complies with industry standards and is committed to data security.
  3. Regular Communication: Keeping customers informed about your security measures and any updates to your policies helps build trust. Regularly communicating your commitment to data security reinforces your dedication to protecting customer information.

Conclusion

Ensuring data security with a Payment Gateway License involves implementing advanced encryption technologies, adhering to compliance standards, and maintaining real-time monitoring and fraud detection systems. By taking these steps, businesses can protect sensitive customer information, prevent data breaches, and build trust with their customers. In an era where data security is more critical than ever, a Payment Gateway License is a vital tool for safeguarding online transactions and ensuring the long-term success of your business.

2024.05.29 08:58 Leather-Map3479 My (28f) boyfriend (m33)has said he isn’t coming home tonight, We’ve been together 3.5 years, is it time to leave?

Ok so our relationship has been rocky for awhile now but I’ve always kept trying to fix it. We went on holiday recently and when we came home it would be an understatement to say that I have felt totally disconnected and upset most of the time. Turn to this weekend it has been amazing, we’ve had lots of fun, laughed etc so much so that he said I feel hopeful about the future. (I even did his uni assignment for him) However, yesterday it all went wrong. He has a daughter (12) who I have admitted to him I’ve found hard to be around recently due to our relationship (I’ve made it clear it isn’t her or that she’s doing anything wrong just that when the relationships bad it makes it hard for me). So he said she was coming at the weekend (she usually comes mon- Fri) her mums recently moved some distance away and her mum isn’t the best and makes her get the bus home herself from school on a Friday, I said to him how is she going to know how to get home after school the following Friday, its a 35 minute drive from us and atleast 2 buses and she has done it before about 2 years ago but I said how will she remember that and I ultimately ended up saying as if you’re not going to make sure her mum shows her. He responded by saying you’re not marriage material. Which really upset me because as he knows it’s something I really want to do at some point. I left but went back in and said that what he said was unnecessary and uncalled for and he said it wasn’t because it was how he felt. I was honestly devastated that after this really nice weekend all of a sudden there’s an issue and a big one at that. He was working from home and I was off work. I went to the gym he blocked me on WhatsApp and I text him saying I was sorry (even tho I wasn’t really sure what for) and he asked me to get him something from the shop on the way home which I did. When I came home I pottered around a bit before going in and saying are we just going to have a bad day and he said yes probably. Well this is where I get in the wrong because I just couldn’t let it lie I was so upset I wanted to fix it so badly but he wouldn’t listen or try fix it back, he kept asking me to leave but I just felt like I couldn’t, I just wanted to fix it and clearly my emotional brain was messing with the rational one. I think I have an anxious attachment style so I don’t like conflict lasting and fear being left at the drop of a hat. I obviously wish in hindsight I had just left him alone because he kept saying hurtful things which made me more emotional and more desperate in a way to fix it. I did eventually go out but I guess the damage was done and he ended up doing little work all day. He said I drained the life out of him that he couldn’t face doing anything. I don’t understand why he couldn’t offer the reassurance or kindness or compassion to say we’d sort it out later or something when I came in I feel like he had the position of power to make it a bit ok, he knows I had no malicious intention of not leaving him alone I purely wanted to fix it. It came out eventually that the reason why what I said was an issue is because he feels like I have an issue with his daughter which as mentioned I have tried to explain and be honest about it but no matter how much I said that wasn’t the case etc he wouldn’t listen. I even offered to go pick her up today and take her out with our other children in the hope of trying to make things better. He said he was leaving but didn’t leave and said he’d leave today. I slept on the couch. He said he isn’t coming home. I know I should have left him alone and wish I had but I think this is perhaps a case of one person caring and another not, because surely there was no reason for us to have a full day of hell over what was said. He says he isn’t sorry for anything he said and I’m not normal and should be able to control my emotions. He says I need to grow up. I’ve had long term relationships before and never had any issues like this he hasn’t had long term relationships. I feel totally lost. I love him but I feel at rock bottom from this relationship. I feel like I am being punished like a child. He says that I effectively was blackmailing him by not leaving him alone, all I wanted was some reassurance that even if we didn’t fix it now we would later. I poured my eyes out pretty much all day I even begged (pathetic I know) and he wouldn’t give on anything. I’m scared about him not coming home, I feel like if he doesn’t I have to end it, we have a child together and I don’t have the luxury of just not coming home. I don’t know how to navigate the day now. He doesn’t care that I’m upset or riddled with anxiety and didn’t any point. I suppose the flip side is I was probably selfish not leaving him alone 😔 it’s just a mess Help!

When I first used the Trophy Ridge React One Pro Dovetail sight, I was blown away by its ease of use. The React Technology predicts pin gaps based on the distance between your 20-yard pin and any other yardage, making set up a breeze. It only took me 10 minutes to sight in from 20 to 100 yards. I love how precise and accurate the one-pin slider sight is, and the fiber-optic indicators make it easy to see my distance markers even in low light conditions.
While using the React One Pro Dovetail sight, I also appreciated the second and third axis leveling, which is perfect for downhill shots in steep country or out of a treestand. The machined aluminum construction felt solid and durable, and the micro-click windage and elevation adjustments allowed me to fine-tune my aim effortlessly.

As an avid hunter, I've frequently found myself in situations where precision and accuracy are of the utmost importance. That's why I decided to give the Axcel Landslyde Plus a try, and I'm glad I did. Its rapid adjustment knob and quick release mechanism allow me to adjust the yardage settings with ease, even when I'm in the field.
One of the standout features of this sight is the adjustable dead stop. It enables me to access my preferred yardage setting almost instantly, which is crucial during those heart-stopping moments when a shot presents itself. Additionally, the sight's adjustable pointers provide an extra layer of customization that allows me to fine-tune my aim to suit my preferences.
However, I did encounter a slight issue with the sight's adjustability. While the first, second, and third axis adjustments are easy to access, they don't always provide the smoothest experience. This can be a minor inconvenience, but it doesn't detract from the overall effectiveness of the sight.
Another aspect of this sight that I truly appreciate is its compatibility with various bows. The Picatinny in-line sight mount allows me to securely attach the sight to different bow models, making it a versatile choice for hunters with a variety of equipment preferences.
In conclusion, the Axcel Landslyde Plus is a reliable and efficient sight that has greatly enhanced my hunting capabilities. Its rapid adjustment feature and adjustable dead stop make it a must-have for hunters seeking a precise and customizable shooting experience. While it may have a few minor drawbacks, its overall performance more than makes up for it.

Imagine you're in the heat of the moment, aiming down the sights of your rifle, trying to take out a target from around the corner. This is where the NcSTAR Mount shines. Its 45-degree offset angle allows you to mount your lasers, flashlights, or red dot sights at just the right angle for a clear view down the barrel.
The offset canted design of the mount adds a level of versatility that's not often found in other mounts. It eliminates interference with vertical grips, hand guards, optics, and other accessories, making it perfect for a wide range of uses. Plus, the ergonomic design gives easy access to on/off switches for your accessories, which is a game-changer when you're in the thick of it.
But let's not forget the solid construction. The NcSTAR Mount is made from hard-anodized aluminum, which not only adds strength to the mount but also makes it resistant to corrosion. And the single-slotted thumb nut secures the mount to Weaver Style or Picatinny rails quickly and easily.
The NcSTAR Mount isn't just a device, it's a tool that could give you the edge you need in tense situations. It's a reliable, solid piece of equipment that's easy to use and a pleasure to work with. I recently had the opportunity to use the Pro Single-Pin Slider Direct-Mount Sight Black 1-Pin 0.19, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. The sight's single 0.19 inch vertical pin and 1.8 inch aperture provide a clear and clean sight picture, which became particularly valuable when taking longer shots in open country.
One of the most impressive features was the integrated glow ring and the REVOLVE rotary sight light, ensuring low-light conditions never posed an issue. Additionally, the sight's dual yardage pointers, end-of-travel elevation stops, and fixed bracket with 3 potential mounting positions allowed for seamless adjustments even while moving.
I also appreciated the sight's ease of use and convenience, such as the second- and third-axis aperture adjustments and the left- and right-handed configuration options. Moreover, with 120 pre-marked sight tapes included, I felt that I had a solid setup for lethal, accurate shots throughout the season.
While I enjoyed the sight's features, there was one downside: the direct-drive elevation wheel's one-handed operation wasn't entirely smooth and silent as advertised, making it slightly challenging to use on the move. Nevertheless, the Pro Single-Pin Slider Direct-Mount Sight Black 1-Pin 0.19 has undeniably made a difference in my archery experience.

This little beauty is the perfect companion to my firearm, allowing for pinpoint accuracy and ease of use, whether you're a right-handed or left-handed shooter.
One thing I absolutely love about this microtune sight is its knurled elevation adjustment knob. It's sturdy and easy to grip, making it a breeze to fine-tune my aim. Plus, the 2" sight housing is just the right size to make sure I've got a clear, unobstructed view of my target.
However, don't get me wrong; this isn't a one-size-fits-all kind of thing. The Q-1 Microtune Dovetail Sight is designed specifically for those who appreciate a low profile when aiming. If you're someone who prefers a more traditional scope with a bulky design, this might not be the sight for you.
Overall, I'm super happy with my purchase of the Viper Driver Q-1 Microtune Dovetail Sight. It's made my shooting experiences much more enjoyable and accurate, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, reliable dovetail sight.

I recently had the chance to give the HHA Optimizer Lite sight. 019 a try, and let me just say, I was very impressed. The micro-adjust windage system made sighting in a breeze, and I appreciated the included yardage dial.
One feature that really stood out to me was the mechanical rheostat for pin brightness adjustment. It allowed me to easily fine-tune the pin brightness, which is a game-changer for those shooting in low-light conditions.
As for the cons, I did find the mounting process a bit challenging and the detachable bracket was not included. Additionally, while the sight is well-built, it is a bit on the heavier side, which I noticed when shooting for extended periods.
Overall, the HHA Optimizer Lite. 019 sight is a solid choice for those looking for a reliable, easy-to-use sight for their bow. Just make sure you're prepared for a bit of a learning curve when it comes to mounting it onto your bow.

These sights are some of the tightest I've ever had the pleasure of using, and it's easy to see that the company has put in the time and effort to produce a sight that performs to the highest standards. The new QD windage feature is also a welcome addition for 2022, offering even more precision and flexibility on the field.
While there aren't many cons to point out, one potential drawback is that the Hogg Father Wrapped Sight Double Pin 0.029 may be a bit more expensive than other options on the market. However, in my opinion, the superior quality, functionality, and dependability of this sight make it well worth the investment. Overall, I highly recommend giving the Hogg Father a try when you're searching for a reliable and top-of-the-line sight for your next hunting expedition.

I recently had the chance to try out the Specialty Archery Pro Series 45 Degree Hooded Peep Black, and let me tell you, I'm hooked. With its lightweight aluminum construction, this peep sight makes a significant improvement to arrow speed, allowing me to hit my mark more accurately than ever before. The peep accepts all Specialty Archery 1/8" apertures, clarifiers, and verifiers, which is a nice touch for those who prefer customized options.
One thing that stood out to me was the convenient hooded design, which effectively reduces glare for a clearer sight picture. This feature comes in handy, especially when shooting in bright sunlight or under harsh conditions. However, it's essential to note that the Pro Series 45-degree sight should only be used in bows with an axle-to-axle length of over 40 inches, so make sure to check this before attaching it to your bow.
Overall, my experience with the Specialty Archery Pro Series 45 Degree Hooded Peep Black has been nothing short of impressive. Its durable construction and impressive performance make it a true standout among other peep sights, and I highly recommend it to any avid archer looking to up their game.

I recently got my hands on the Spot Hogg Father Double Pin sight and let me tell you, it's a game changer. The first thing I noticed was the sturdy design, which gave me confidence in its durability. It's a sight that's been around for a while now, and I can see why it's loved by many.
One feature that stood out to me was the easy adjustment. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd axis leveling made it a breeze to set up and get my shot just right. However, the best part about this sight is the HRD technology. No more slop or buzz – this sight is rock solid.
But, don't just take my word for it. This sight is covered by a Limited Lifetime warranty, so you can rest easy knowing it's built to last. The 45-degree Iron Sights might be a bit different from what you're used to, but they're worth giving a shot.
Now, let's talk about the minor drawbacks. The sight is a 6-inch dovetail, so it might not work with all setups. But overall, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The Father Double Pin sight is a reliable choice for anyone who's in the market for a durable, rugged, and efficient sight.

What are 45-degree iron sights?

45-degree iron sights refer to the angle at which the sights are positioned on firearms. Contrary to traditional iron sights with a more vertical angle of 90 degrees, 45-degree sights offer a different shooting experience by presenting a lower sight picture.

What are the benefits of using 45-degree iron sights?

https://preview.redd.it/e6ji8bd3db3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4262300d2db3aaf08c5dc36c7fa0562420bbef8f
There are several advantages to using 45-degree iron sights:
  • Faster target acquisition and smoother follow-up shots due to the lower sight picture
  • Improved cheek weld and stability on the stock, leading to better accuracy and control
  • The reduced weight on the user's face, which can alleviate discomfort during sustained shooting

Are 45-degree iron sights suitable for all types of firearms?

While 45-degree iron sights are popular among pistol shooters and some rifle enthusiasts, they may not be suitable for every type of firearm or shooting application. For example, some firearms may require after-market mounting solutions or adjustments to accommodate these sights.

https://preview.redd.it/3xfeg3y3db3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8eb5ea0c3f8ea62a9914fccbd1cf8d9a12af8010

What are the main manufacturers of 45-degree iron sights?

Some of the prominent manufacturers include:
  • Trijicon
  • Nightforce Optics
  • Leupold Optics
  • SIG SAUER
  • Warne Sightmounts

What are the differences between 45-degree and traditional iron sights?

The most striking difference between the two types of sights is their angle. While traditional iron sights have a vertical angle of 90 degrees, 45-degree sights feature a lower angle that sits closer to the cheek, offering a different shooting experience. This lower angle helps shooters acquire targets quicker and stabilize the firearm on their face more effectively.

How do I install 45-degree iron sights on my firearm?

The installation process for 45-degree iron sights can vary depending on the specific model and make of your firearm. It is generally recommended to consult your firearm's manual or seek assistance from a professional gunsmith to ensure that the installation is performed correctly and safely.

Are 45-degree iron sights interchangeable between different brands or models?

While some 45-degree iron sights may have similar dimensions or characteristics, it is essential to confirm compatibility before purchasing or attempting to use sights from a different brand or model. Be sure to consult the manufacturer's specifications and, if necessary, contact the manufacturer or a knowledgeable gunsmith for guidance.

Are there any maintenance requirements for 45-degree iron sights?

Regular cleaning and maintenance of your firearm are crucial, regardless of the type of sights you use. For 45-degree iron sights, it is essential to keep the sights free of dirt, debris, or corrosion-causing substances to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

2024.05.29 08:57 esgexi chaotic end to years long relationships

i won’t be using names but this story is extremely specific so if you read this and were part of it, oh well. this is what happened through my eyes.
a little over a year ago i was kicked out of my living situation with a former “friend” of mine. i’m extremely lucky to have so much familial support as i was able to move in with my brother immediately after. it’s honestly all still a blur, thinking about how it all went down. i was so so excited to live with my friends, we had been friends since freshman year of highschool for most of them (one of them i had been friends with since i was 8 years old. i was 22 when i was kicked out). it was like a dream, two of us in one unit (me and the person who kicked me out) and three of us in a different unit on the same complex. it was supposed to be like a party all the time, and i was so excited to feel surrounded by support and love.
unfortunately, right before the move in date i reconnected and ended up getting back together with someone i had been in an on and off again abusive relationship with. my friends DID NOT like them and they knew that, but i felt pressured to ask if they could live with us regardless. and so they did! it was me and my ex sharing a room with my cat, and my ex friend in their own room with their two cats. it was an abysmal situation pretty much immediately, my ex and my ex friend hated each other and fought constantly. after about only a month, my partner moved out and returned to their home state. my friends were increasingly concerned about the nature of our relationship and saw the massive toll it had taken on me. they urged me to end things, so i finally did. i was devastated, crying for days and days even though i knew it was the only solution for my safety and happiness.
fast forward to the new year (i broke up with my partner in october 2022) and things were okay. i had been making new friends at my job and was so elated to have two groups of people that seemed to care about me and love me as i was. i turned 22 in february and it was one of the best birthdays ive ever had, even in hindsight. i started dating one of my new work friends, and she made me feel like i was part of something, part of the cool kid group. however, her friend group openly found my old school friends “cringey” and “annoying” and were constantly trying to separate me from them. in the meantime, still living with my friends, i fell into a deep depression. i struggled to take care of myself, to keep my space clean, and to clean up after my cat. my room was disgusting, and i will forever be ashamed about it. i never let anyone inside due to pure embarrassment. my cat was always fed, but i was not scooping her little box leading to her urinating and defecating all over the carpet eventually leading to me having to remove the carpet. my clothes were always dirty. i wasn’t allowed to let my cat out of my room because she didn’t get along with my roommates’ cats. she never showed any negative emotions towards me regardless of the poor care i was taking of her (and myself) and we were constantly snuggling and spending time together.
i could tell my roommate was becoming frustrated with my lack of cleanliness but i was in such a dark place it felt like i would never get out. one day, while i was at work, my roommate texted me telling me they had taken my cat away from me and given her to my friends in the apartment nearby. i was incredibly upset, my cat means the world to me and she felt like the only good thing about my life. immediately after i got off of work i went straight to my friends to beg for my cat back. i was an emotional mess, crying and hysteric trying to keep my calm but it was so difficult to see them all turning on me before my eyes. they told me my roommate had taken pictures of my room and showed them. it was humiliating. at first they were concerned, not mad. they did not give me my cat back so i was forced to return back to my own apartment empty handed. i blew up at my roommate. i’m not proud, but i felt pushed to the edge and completely out of control. i have suffered so much heartache at the hands of others my whole life, and the fact that it was coming from people i thought were my best friends was breaking my heart in two. in the moment i told my roommate they were acting like my ex partner, and they snapped and told me i had 30 days to leave. i returned to my room and sobbed for hours. in the following days i moved as much stuff as i could to my brothers house and had to take hours out of my own very busy work day (i had recently been promoted to manager) to retrieve my cat. i was so wracked with anxiety i couldn’t face my friends. in text messages they were calling me an animal abuser and telling me i was a bad person. i couldn’t understand the complete 180 that happened in the blink of an eye. my mom was luckily able to get my cat back, and that first night with her at my brothers house was one of the worst of my life. she instantly crawled on my lap and did not leave the entire night. i took her to the vets office the next day and they told me she was in perfect health, there was nothing wrong with her whatsoever.
i tried to move on with my life and find comfort in my girlfriend and her friends, but they ended up dropping me a few months later as well. here i am now, over a year later, without friends and no support system other than my family and my boyfriend. my cat is still in perfect health, and is living lavishly in a large house with space to roam and a consistently clean litter box. i deep clean every week, and i absolutely refuse to fall back into the filth i was living in before. but it still hurts just like the day it happened. i’ll never understand why, in my time of greatest need, my roommate decided to make a villain out of me. and then went on to convince my friends of it too. i was so sure these people would be in my life forever. there are places i can’t go anymore without extreme anxiety because of the chance i will see them. i have an incredibly difficult almost impossible time connecting with new people now, so i really have no way of creating a new circle. i am extremely depressed and often don’t feel loved, even by my boyfriend. i struggle everyday to keep it together, but i risk losing my job due to the amount of time ive had to take off due to not being able to stop crying and panicking. i feel hopeless and suicidal everyday. i had an abortion early this year with no friends to support me. i’m struggling in my relationship and have no one to talk to about the things i can’t tell my mother. i’m desperately trying to find a therapist that listens and understands but it feels impossible.
despite everything though, i’m trying to take everyday as it comes. all i can hope is that in the future, ill have friends and loved ones who care about me and love me for who i am, even if im struggling. im not saying im a perfect person, i never have been. i struggle with self hatred and feeling like a bad person constantly. it might sound silly, but this was a traumatic event for me. in a life with so much hardship this made me feel like i will never be happy again. i feel lost, but i can only hope healing will set me free.
i know this is extremely long and personal and i don’t expect anyone to read the whole thing, but if you do, thank you for listening. just typing this all out has been incredibly cathartic

2024.05.29 08:56 Late_Arugula_640 My partner cracked it with me when he was drunk and now won’t talk

Introducing the Lyman Pro Die Pack, a versatile and powerful addition to your press reloading toolkit. Crafted with your Mark 7 press in mind, every aspect of these dies was meticulously engineered to deliver top-notch performance. While they're perfectly suited for Mark 7 presses, they also work seamlessly with regular progressive presses, turret presses, and even single station presses.
The Lyman Pro Die Pack boasts dies made of stainless steel for its resilience and rust resistance. It's great to see durable and anti-corrosion materials in action. The Lyman Pro even goes the extra mile with highly polished carbide rings on the sizing dies, offering unparalleled wear resistance and reduced sizing force. The spring-loaded decapping rod system ensures the primer is ejected from the primer pocket with force, eliminating any potential misfire.
In the Lyman Pro Die Pack, the M die neck expander stands out. It has a specially designed two-step expander plug, ensuring just the right amount of neck tension and flair for your case mouths. The pistol sets include flare dies, designed to let bullets sit securely on the case mouth before being seated.
The Micrometer Seating die, a standout feature, impresses with a micrometer adjustable seating head. It guarantees precision bullet seating length and a floating bullet seating punch that centers your bullet with pinpoint accuracy. Lastly, each set comes with a taper crimp die, micrometer adjustable, which fully removes any case mouth flare and provides improved bullet retention.
However, like any review, there are pros and cons to consider. While the Lyman Pro Die Pack delivers exceptional performance with its array of features, it may lack compatibility with certain cartridge types. Always ensure it matches your intended use. Overall, the Lyman Pro Die Pack is a reliable and robust choice for reloaders looking for top-tier performance.

🔗RCBS 90366 Trim Pro-2 Kit with Spring Loaded Shell Holder - 45 ACP Reloading Kit

With the RCBS Trim Pro-2 Kit, you'll effortlessly transform your handloading process. Picture this: you're at the range, and instead of dealing with an old, frustrating case trimmer, you have this sleek, high-quality kit in your hands. The spring-loaded shell holder catches all the trimmed brass, making cleanup a breeze.
I've been using this kit for a while now, and the ease of use is truly a game-changer. Gone are the days of fiddling with collars and screwing down collets, only to unscrew them again to hold and remove brass. It's a simple press, insert, and release system that has significantly sped up my case trimming.
This trimmer is incredibly precise, delivering consistent lengths time and time again. And the best part? The universal shell holder fits virtually any case, making it a versatile addition to any gunsmithing workshop.
Of course, like any product, it's not perfect. A few users have reported issues with incompatible pilots or difficulty setting up the shell holder. But overall, the pros outweigh the cons, making the RCBS Trim Pro-2 Kit a must-have for any serious handloader.

🔗Carbide 4 Die Set: Durable Sizer, Expander, Seater, and Crimp Die for 45 ACP

https://preview.redd.it/1cn8nvvicb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=143197426102f1b6cd4c09f51ca3a3d15191dbe8
I recently decided to give Lee Precision Carbide 4 Die Set 45 ACP a try in my daily life. To start, I was impressed by the sturdy build and the smooth functioning of the dies compared to some other options available in the market.
The unbreakable decapper and built-in stuck-case remover worked well, ensuring a seamless reloading experience. The free-floating bullet seater was easy to adjust and resulted in consistent bullet seating, which in turn helped improve accuracy. I also appreciated the finger-adjustable locking rings that kept the dies secure during the reloading process.
However, there were a couple of cons as well. The storage case could have been a bit better designed to accommodate the included shell holder, powder dipper, and load data more securely. Additionally, the bullet seating and factory crimp dies felt slightly less user-friendly compared to the powder through expanding and carbide factory-crimp dies.
Overall, the Lee Precision Carbide 4 Die Set 45 ACP has been a reliable addition to my reloading setup, providing consistent and accurate results. While there may be room for improvement in certain areas, its affordability and high-quality performance make it a valuable choice for anyone looking to reload their 45 ACP ammunition.

🔗Lee Precision Carbide 3 Die Set for 45 ACP – Heavy-Duty Reloading Kit

https://preview.redd.it/8namqj8jcb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=244a92cf8c5837aa9207f72c2496fea2e4c33112
The Lee Precision Carbide Three-Die Set I've been using for reloading my 45 ACP rounds has been quite the handy tool in my arsenal. Made in the USA, it features a steel shell holder and powder measure, all conveniently stored in an airtight low-profile box for safekeeping.
One of the best aspects of the Lee Carbide Die Set is its universal shell holder and powder dipper, which make it effortless to work with various calibers and ammo types. The durable design of the dies ensures they are built to last and can withstand the wear and tear that comes with frequent use.
The set includes an instruction manual and load data sheet, which I found incredibly helpful when first getting started with reloading. The instruction manual was easy to follow, and the load data sheet provided guidance on optimizing each step of the reloading process, making it easier to create consistent, high-quality rounds.
Overall, I have been very satisfied with the Lee Precision Carbide Three-Die Set. It's a reliable and efficient option for anyone looking to reload their 45 ACP rounds. That being said, there are a few areas in which the product could be improved. The set occasionally requires some fine-tuning to ensure the rounds are seated correctly, which can be a bit frustrating. Additionally, while it's not a major issue, the shell holder sometimes tends to get a bit dirty after multiple uses, which necessitates cleaning before starting a new session.
In conclusion, the Lee Carbide Three-Die Set is a robust and versatile solution for reloading 45 ACP rounds, but it does have its minor quirks that could be addressed for an even smoother experience.

🔗RCBS Carbide 3 Die Set for .38 Super Straight-Wall reloading

https://preview.redd.it/96ox2isjcb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=27c86ec9e7aeeabe4d8b97a8f7b5c08ece7043e1
I recently had the chance to try out the RCBS Carbide 3 Die Set for. 38 Super, and I must say, it's been quite the experience. Not only did it size the case and de-prime without the need for any lubrication, thanks to the carbide sizer ring, but it also expanded the case to the appropriate diameter to accommodate the bullet. This expander die even gave the case mouth a nice flare for smoother bullet feeding.
The seater die was equally impressive, as it not only seated the bullet but also provided a secure crimp to the brass. I particularly liked the option to use a decapping unit, which made it even easier for me to clean up the cartridges after each round.
However, there was one slight drawback with the product - one of the reviewers mentioned that the expander die was missing the expander plug, making it useless. I also noticed that the set didn't come with a shell holder or a storage box.
Despite these minor concerns, I've had a great experience with the RCBS Carbide 3 Die Set for. 38 Super. It's a solid, reliable product that has made my reloading process a breeze. And the fact that it's proudly made in the USA is a nice added bonus.

🔗45 ACP Reloading Press Conversion Kit for Mark 7 Apex 10/EVOLUTION

https://preview.redd.it/sji41g2kcb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a963ff6416f8d3000ee2793069328a3d00eb9e0
I recently started reloading my own ammo, and let me tell you, it's been quite the journey. But one product that made the whole process easier was the Mark 7 Apex conversion kit for 45 caliber. This kit is a game-changer, allowing me to switch up my caliber with ease.
The kit comes with all the essential components needed for a smooth transition - a case feed ram, a new shell plate, and a case feed adapter. The quality of the parts is top-notch, and they fit together perfectly. It made the transition from one caliber to another seamless, and I couldn't be happier with my choice.
Of course, not everything was perfect. The instruction manual could have been more detailed and clearer. But once I figured things out on my own, the conversion process became a breeze. All in all, the Mark 7 Apex conversion kit for 45 caliber is a worthwhile investment for any reloader looking to simplify their ammo switching process.

As a reviewer who has daily experiences with firearms, the Lyman 45-90 Classic 3 Die Rifle Set has proven to be a dependable companion. It's a versatile rifle set that provides a range of options for resizing, de-capping, and seating bullets, especially when working with old cartridges like the. 45-90. The state-of-the-art computer control equipment used in crafting these dies is evident, with each one perfectly dimensioned, vented, polished, heat-treated, and polished once again for extra smoothness.
One of the most beneficial features of this set is the availability of different bullet seating stems for varying projectile profiles. This has been especially helpful in getting my 45-90 back into action without any issues. Despite being relatively new to this set, I can already say that it's worth its price. I'm currently laying in bed and experiencing (to me) painful contractions every four minutes. We went to the hospital today and they sent us home because it appears I'm only in early/false labor. Who knows.
I'm 38 weeks and 6 days and I am seriously feeling the respect for women who go without meds. FTM here and my plan is no meds and wow, it's incredible what our bodies can do and handle. I'm trying to think mind over matter and keep everything under control but what is this gonna be like as I just get closer?
Anyways, hopefully this is it. Any tips would be much appreciated! I'm excited to meet my baby.

2024.05.29 08:54 VolarRecords YES THIS IS ABOUT THE HISTORY OF UFOS -- Has the C.I.A. Done More Harm Than Good? - by Amy Davidson Sorkin October 3, 2022

Found this article after doing a quick deep-dive after this post from u/evilez:
https://www.reddit.com/UFOs/comments/1d33m4l/does_anybody_remember_what_podcast_this_was/
"Hello fine ladies and gentlemen! I remember listening to a podcast less than a year ago. The main subject of the podcast was UFOs (I think)... anyways the guest told a story that a congressman or senator wrote a bill that was against the CIA or going to defund the CIA, in the 80's... and shortly thereafter, someone broke into his home, dragged his wife out into the street and stuck a gun in her mouth and told her to kill the bill."
Some light Googling brought up this article about the history of the CIA, the OSS, and Daniel Patrick Moynihan's attempts at defunding the agency in the 90s.
Here's an article about that attempt brought by Moynihan published on the Carnegie Endowment Website on December 20, 2005.

Here's the New Yorker piece about all of this from October 3rd, 2022.

Spooked -- What’s wrong with the C.I.A.? -- By Amy Davidson Sorkin -- October 3, 2022

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2022/10/10/has-the-cia-done-more-harm-than-good
According to the article regarding the resuscitation of the OSS as the CIA immediately following Roswell and the Twining Memo:
"Many of its officers moved straight to the new C.I.A. Most consequentially, perhaps, four future directors of the C.I.A. were O.S.S. veterans: Allen Dulles, Richard Helms, William Colby, and William Casey."
Here's the New Yorker article in full:
"On January 4, 1995, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, of New York, introduced a bill called the Abolition of the Central Intelligence Agency Act. It had been a rough stretch for the C.I.A. The year before, Aldrich Ames, a longtime officer, had been convicted of being a longtime mole for Soviet (and then Russian) intelligence. Despite having a reputation among his colleagues as a problem drinker who appeared to live far beyond his means, Ames had been given high-level assignments with access to the names of American sources in the U.S.S.R. When the F.B.I. finally arrested him, he was in the Jaguar he used for commuting to work at Langley; by then, he was responsible for the death of at least ten agents. Moynihan said that the case was such a flamboyant display of incompetence that it might actually be a distraction from “the most fundamental defects of the C.I.A.” He meant that the agency—in what he considered to be its “defining failure”—had both missed the fact that the Soviet Union was on the verge of collapse and done little to hasten its end.
He gave a diagnosis for what had gone wrong. “Secrecy keeps mistakes secret,” he said. “Secrecy is a disease. It causes a hardening of the arteries of the mind.” He quoted John le Carré on that point, adding that the best information actually came from the likes of area specialists, diplomats, historians, and journalists. If the C.I.A. was disbanded, he said, the State Department could pick up the intelligence work, and do a better job.
Moynihan was, in some respects, being disingenuous. As he well knew, even if his bill had passed, spies and spying wouldn’t have gone away. The State Department already had its own mini agency, the Bureau of Intelligence and Research. The Departments of Energy and Treasury each had one, too. The Defense Intelligence Agency conducted clandestine operations; U.S. Army Intelligence, Air Force Intelligence, and the Office of Naval Intelligence kept themselves busy as well. The National Security Agency was nearly two decades away from the revelation, by Edward Snowden, a contractor and a former C.I.A. employee, that it had collected information about the phone calls of most Americans, but it was a behemoth even in Moynihan’s time. So was the Federal Bureau of Investigation. There were about a dozen agencies then; now, after reforms that were supposed to streamline things, there are eighteen, including the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (O.D.N.I.), a sort of meta-C.I.A. that has a couple of thousand employees, and the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis. The Drug Enforcement Administration (which currently has foreign offices in sixty-nine countries) has an Office of National Security Intelligence. Four million people in the United States now have security clearances.
It can be hard to sort out which agencies do what; players in the espionage business aren’t always good with boundaries. Both the C.I.A. and the N.S.A. make use of satellite resources, including commercial ones, but there is a separate agency in charge of a spy-satellite fleet, the National Reconnaissance Office—not to be confused with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which deals with both space-based and ground-level imaging, or with Space Delta 18, the nation’s newest intelligence agency, which is attached to the Space Force. Abolishing the C.I.A. might do nothing more than reconfigure the turf wars.
[NOTE: both Sean Kirkpatrick and David Grusch worked for the NRO and at least Grusch worked for the NGA]
As the senator from New York also knew, a large proportion of the C.I.A.’s resources are devoted not to intelligence gathering but to covert operations, some of which look like military operations. In “Spies, Lies, and Algorithms: The History and Future of American Intelligence” (Princeton)—one of several recent books that coincide with the seventy-fifth anniversary of the agency’s founding—Amy B. Zegart, a political scientist at Stanford, writes that it’s “getting harder to know just where the CIA’s role ends and the military’s role begins.” Yet the agency’s paramilitary pursuits and related covert activities go back decades. They include the botched Bay of Pigs landing, the brutal Phoenix Program in Vietnam, and a long list of assassination attempts, coup plots, the mining of a harbor (with explosive devices the agency built itself), and drone strikes. These operations have very seldom ended well.
Moynihan’s bill had no more luck than another that he introduced the same day, aimed at ending Major League Baseball’s exemption from antitrust laws. In each case, people understood that there was a problem, but both institutions were protected by the sense that there was something essential, and perhaps authentically American, about them, including their very brokenness. A sudden turn of events can convince even the C.I.A.’s most sober critics that the agency will save us all, whether from terrorists or from Donald Trump. But, seventy-five years in, it’s far from clear whether the C.I.A. is good at its job, or what that job is or should be, or how we could get rid of the agency if we wanted to.
How did we end up with the C.I.A.? A familiar explanation is that the shock of Pearl Harbor made the United States realize it needed more spies; the Office of Strategic Services was formed and jumped into action; and, when the war ended, the O.S.S. evolved seamlessly into the C.I.A., ready to go out and win the Cold War. But that narrative isn’t quite right, particularly regarding the relationship between the O.S.S. and the C.I.A.
[NOTE: We know how ended up with the CIA. ROSWELL.]
The United States has always used spies of some sort. George Washington had a discretionary espionage budget for which he didn’t have to turn in receipts. In the early part of the twentieth century, the State Department had an intelligence-analysis unit, along with a cryptography group called the Black Chamber, which operated out of a brownstone in New York’s Murray Hill until it was shut down, in 1929. The Army and the Navy had cryptography and reconnaissance units, too. When the Second World War began, their operations ramped up dramatically, and, as Nicholas Reynolds recounts in “Need to Know: World War II and the Rise of American Intelligence” (Mariner), these units, not the O.S.S., handled most of the code-breaking. The problem became the volume of raw intelligence. The task of making sense of it and of turning it into something that policymakers could use went to an office within the Army’s military-intelligence division (or G-2), which, Reynolds says, produced “the country’s best strategic intelligence” during the war. That office’s work was directed by Alfred McCormack, a former clerk for Supreme Court Justice Harlan Stone and a partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore. Many of the people he brought in were young corporate lawyers; the theory was that their training in plowing through mountains of documents made them ideal intelligence analysts.
William J. Donovan, who led and largely conceived of the O.S.S., was also a Wall Street lawyer, but one with an aversion to the “legalistic.” What Donovan envisioned was essentially an array of commando units that would operate stealthily and behind enemy lines. In practice, what he tried to build, according to a colleague, was a “private army.” His escapades often risked too much and gained too little. In late 1943, one of his own officers wrote to him that “the set-up has been incredibly wasteful in manpower and, except for a few spotty accomplishments, has been a national failure.” And it had produced “chaos in the field.” Donovan’s nickname was Wild Bill, but his staff called him Seabiscuit, after the thoroughbred, because of his tendency to race around, engaging in what was basically war tourism. In the end, though, the O.S.S. made real contributions, including through its contacts with the French Resistance. But Donovan’s complaint about D Day was that there was “too much planning.” Counterintelligence and strategic thinking bored him, and the O.S.S.’s analysis division was seen as secondary to its operations.
When Harry Truman became President, in April, 1945, he took a look at the O.S.S. and, in September, 1945, abolished it. About two years later, he signed the National Security Act, which established the C.I.A. (and the Department of Defense), but he didn’t want the new agency to be like the group Donovan had run. Instead, it was supposed to do what its name suggested: centralize the intelligence that various agencies gathered, analyze it, and turn it into something the President could use.
[NOTE: I tried doing some research after reading something yesterday about how the NSA was developed in 1952 under Project Sigma to try and decode "alien" communications. If anyone can offer anything, you'd be helping humanity.]
“It was not intended as a ‘Cloak and Dagger’ Outfit!,” Truman later wrote. He also had to deal with public apprehensions that he might create what a Chicago Tribune headline called a “Super Gestapo Agency”—which is why, in its charter, the C.I.A. was banned from domestic spying.
Reynolds’s book is the best of the recent batch, and the most readable. It does not retrofit the history of the O.S.S. around the assumption that the C.I.A. was the inevitable lead postwar intelligence agency. There were other contenders, including a version of McCormack’s office in the State Department—something like what Moynihan wanted. J. Edgar Hoover argued that “World Wide Intelligence” should be turned over to the F.B.I., with military intelligence subservient to him. In some alternative history, he might have pulled that off; by 1943, he was running undercover operations in twenty Latin American countries. And so things could have been worse.
[WHAT UNDERCOVER OPERATIONS WERE WE RUNNING IN LATIN AMERICANS COUNTRIES IN 1943.]
Donovan was an adept publicist, but what mattered most, in the end, was that he was good, or lucky, when it came to hiring people. Despite the “pale, male, and Yale” stereotype, the O.S.S. was somewhat more diverse than other units, and certainly more eclectic. Among its ranks were Ralph Bunche, Herbert Marcuse, and Julia Child. Many of its officers moved straight to the new C.I.A. Most consequentially, perhaps, four future directors of the C.I.A. were O.S.S. veterans: Allen Dulles, Richard Helms, William Colby, and William Casey. Each seems to have had glory-day memories of the O.S.S., which is to say that each, in various ways, was afflicted with what a general in Army intelligence called “the screwball Donovan effect.” Casey, who put a picture of Donovan on his wall, said of his old boss, “We all glowed in his presence.” Wild Bill lost the bureaucratic fight but won the personnel and mythology wars.
And, of course, the agency found customers and collaborators in the White House. There was no mention of covert action in the law that chartered the C.I.A., but Presidents—starting with Truman—began using it that way. One of the agency’s first operations involved meddling in the 1948 Italian election, to insure the victory of the Christian Democrats. The subsidies and outright bribery of Italian politicians, some of them on the far, far right, continued into the nineteen-seventies.
Almost from its creation, though, there was a sense that something about the C.I.A. was off. The split between covert action and intelligence gathering and analysis was part of it. The director of the agency was also supposed to be the leader of U.S. intelligence as a whole, but, invariably, the person in the job seemed more invested in preëminence than in coördination. That setup remained in place until the establishment of the O.D.N.I., in 2004, a move that thus far has mostly continued a tradition of trying to deal with the C.I.A.’s dysfunction by setting up ever more agencies, offices, and centers. (The N.S.A. was established, in 1952, in response to a series of cryptography-related failures.) “Legacy of Ashes,” Tim Weiner’s 2008 history of the C.I.A.—and still an invaluable overview—takes its title from a lament by Eisenhower about what he’d be leaving his successors if the “faulty” structure of American intelligence wasn’t changed. Since Weiner’s book was published, the ashes, and the agencies, have only been piling up.
Zegart’s “Spies, Lies, and Algorithms” aims to bring that history to the present. Zegart has served as an adviser to intelligence agencies, and she provides a decent guide to our current bureaucracy. Throughout, her book is clear and well organized—maybe a little too well organized, one feels, after taking in the “Seven Deadly Biases” of intelligence analysis, the “Four Main Adversaries” and the “Five Types of Attack” in the crypto area, and the “Three Words, Four Types” that define covert action. (The covert-action words, incidentally, are “influence,” “acknowledged,” and “abroad.”) Not a few paragraphs read like PowerPoint charts; contradictions are displayed without really being reckoned with. She observes that the balance between “hunting” and “gathering” seems off, but, in her telling, the fact that Presidents of both parties regularly turn to the C.I.A. for paramilitary and other covert tasks constitutes proof that doing so is part of the order of things. The impression she leaves is that if it all goes wrong, it’s because some checklist has been missed. One of the top priorities of U.S. intelligence today, she thinks, should be persuading tech companies to get with the program and help out. She moots the creation of yet another agency, to deal with OSINT—open-source intelligence.
In one chapter, Zegart provides a list of scandals involving spying within the U.S. by various intelligence agencies—notably the N.S.A., the F.B.I., and the C.I.A. “All of these activities violated American law,” she writes. “But that’s the point: domestic laws forbid this kind of surveillance of Americans.” How is that the point, exactly? She depicts the Senate’s 2014 Torture Report, which detailed profound abuses in the C.I.A.’s so-called black sites, as a they-said, the-agency-said, who-knows case. She turns it into a parable about the problems with Congress—suggesting that, although the committee structure may have needed rejiggering, the moral compass of those involved in the program of torture was just fine.
Another new volume, “A Question of Standing: A History of the CIA” (Oxford), by Rhodri Jeffreys-Jones, a professor emeritus of history at the University of Edinburgh, offers the insights of a more distant observer. He can be astute about how “false memories” of the O.S.S.’s accomplishments have led the C.I.A. astray. Part of his argument is that the agency has acted as if its influence depended on its standing with whoever is in the White House, thus motivating it to offer Presidents quick fixes that fix nothing. The net effect is to reduce its standing, and that of the U.S., with the public at home and abroad. But Jeffreys-Jones is prone to rash generalizations and pronouncements. He theorizes that, in the run-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, George W. Bush’s national-security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, may have been susceptible to “war mongering” due to her status as “a descendant of slaves,” and that the working-class background of the C.I.A.’s director, George Tenet, made him more likely to vouch for the faulty intelligence on weapons of mass destruction used to justify the war. “Social mobility so often leads to conformity,” warns Jeffreys-Jones, himself the son of an academic historian.
During the Vietnam War, the C.I.A. had discouraging intelligence to offer, and, when successive Administrations didn’t want to hear it, focussed on being helpful by providing those supposedly quick fixes. That meant abetting a coup in 1963, spying on antiwar protesters, and launching the Phoenix Program, an anti-Vietcong campaign marked by torture and by arbitrary executions; in total, more than twenty thousand people were killed under Phoenix’s auspices.
Phoenix was run by William Colby, the O.S.S. alum, who was soon promoted to C.I.A. director. At lower levels, discontent about Vietnam fueled leaks. In December, 1974, the journalist Seymour Hersh told the agency that he was about to publish a story in the Times exposing its domestic spying. Whether in a miscalculation or (as Jeffreys-Jones somewhat breathlessly speculates) as an act of personal expiation, Colby gave Hersh partial confirmation. Amid the scandals and the Congressional hearings that followed, Colby angered some of his colleagues, and Henry Kissinger, by laying bare even more. It emerged that, in 1973, Colby’s predecessor had asked senior agency officials to produce a list of things the C.I.A. had done that might have been unlawful. The resulting document, covering just the prior fifteen years, was known in-house as “The Family Jewels,” and was almost seven hundred pages long.
The question of how much it matters who works at the C.I.A. is a perennial one. The influence of Donovan’s acolytes shows that decisions about whom you recruit can, in a formative period or at a critical juncture, make a big difference. But, once an institutional culture has become entrenched, it can be easier to see how the institution shapes the people within it than vice versa.
Wise Gals: The Spies Who Built the CIA and Changed the Future of Espionage” (Putnam), by Nathalia Holt, comes at the question from a different angle. It’s about five women who worked for the early C.I.A.; three also worked at the O.S.S., and one, Eloise Page, began her career as Bill Donovan’s secretary. Holt is also the author of “Rise of the Rocket Girls,” about women in the early years of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and “The Queens of Animation,” about women at the Walt Disney Company. Her book contains fine material for a beautifully art-directed streaming series, with set pieces in postwar Paris, nineteen-fifties Baghdad, and nineteen-seventies Greece, where Page was the C.I.A.’s first woman station chief. It even has a framing device in the form of the “Petticoat Panel,” a working group of C.I.A. women that convened in 1953 to document their unequal pay and treatment. Holt quotes the transcript of the meeting at which the leadership of the agency summarily rejected their findings. Helms, the future director, says, “It is just nonsense for these gals to come on here and think that the government is going to fall apart because their brains aren’t going to be used to the maximum.” (In 1977, Helms was convicted of lying to Congress about the C.I.A.’s machinations in Chile.) What the book is not, unfortunately, is a coherent history of the C.I.A., of the era it depicts, or even of these women’s work.
Holt’s research does turn up evidence that Jane Burrell, one of her subjects, was the first C.I.A. officer to die in the line of duty, in a plane crash in France, in 1948, a fact that the agency itself apparently missed. Holt ends her book with a call for a star honoring Burrell to be added to the C.I.A.’s memorial wall. Of the hundred and thirty-seven officers represented there, she writes, forty-five died accidentally, the majority in plane crashes, meaning that Burrell’s case would be fairly typical. Burrell was on the return leg of a trip to Brussels, where she’d been sent to talk to war-crimes investigators about a mess the C.I.A. had created by relying on an agent who turned out to have worked with the S.S. and was now in custody. In that respect, too, Burrell, who had personally handled the agent, was typical of the C.I.A. (After Burrell vouched for him, the man was released.) The subject of the C.I.A.’s postwar relations with former Nazis—some of whom, like Reinhard Gehlen, it helped to install in West Germany’s new intelligence service—and with collaborationist émigré groups is, no doubt, a morass. Holt, alas, manages to make the story even more garbled than it has to be. In the end, she basically treats the whole sordid episode as a learning experience for the Gals.
The problem is that the agency doesn’t seem to learn much. Holt credits Mary Hutchison with helping to build a network of émigré Ukrainian nationalists. Beginning in 1949, the agency parachuted some of them (including one whom Hutchison apparently distrusted) behind the Soviet border, where they were quickly captured—and repeated the same procedure for a number of years. “Despite the catastrophe, the Ukraine operation would serve as a template moving forward,” Holt writes. “The C.I.A. had more success with back-to-back operations in Iran and Guatemala, where covert action was able to deftly oust leaders considered undesirable.” It’s odd to describe these coups as deft. One of Zegart’s handy lists is of the “unintended consequences” in Iran: “religious extremism, a revolutionary overthrow, the American hostage crisis, severed ties, regional instability, and today’s rising nuclear dangers.” Guatemala is still dealing with the violent legacy of the coup that the C.I.A. visited upon it. Then there’s the question of the intended consequences, which were, respectively, to elevate a shah and a military regime. Secret wars tend not to be so secret in the country where they take place.
It was, no doubt, frustrating for Hutchison when, a few years later, her colleagues on the Bay of Pigs task force failed to make use of her Spanish-language skills. But are we supposed to think that the whole misconceived enterprise would have gone off without a hitch were it not for the C.I.A.’s misogyny? One of Holt’s minor themes is that women in the C.I.A. were seen as more natural analysts than operatives—with analysis, in turn, seen as less manly, and less valuable, to everybody’s detriment. But she is more intent on showing that these women were also daring. The main point of “Wise Gals” is that it’s cool that women were in the early C.I.A., and therefore that the C.I.A. itself was cooler than we’d realized. Holt celebrates a big promotion Page got that afforded her access to the secret of a safe containing shellfish-derived poison. You don’t have to be pale, male, and Yale to be complicit in a bungled assassination plot, or, for that matter, a program of rendition and torture.
Why do so many books about the C.I.A. have trouble getting their story straight? It can’t just be the secrecy of the work itself, at least with regard to the earlier years, about which much has been declassified. (Much remains under wraps: Moynihan complained that classification created more than six million supposed secrets in 1993; Zegart writes that the number in 2016 was fifty-five million—not all of which can possibly have been critical.) The aura of secrecy, by contrast, probably does distort the judgment of its chroniclers. And the scope of the agency’s work is a challenge: it’s hard to write expertly on places as far-ranging as the Democratic Republic of Congo (where the agency initially planned to poison President Patrice Lumumba’s toothpaste, and instead ended up handing a quarter of a million dollars to Joseph Mobutu, the country’s future dictator, who facilitated the assassination) and Afghanistan (where the C.I.A. has had forty years of illusory gains and worse losses). But the biggest problem may be the agency’s own pattern of self-deception. Holt, for example, sometimes seems to go wrong when, rummaging through the archives, she gives too much credit to contemporaneous internal assessments of an agent’s or an operation’s worth.
In truth, the C.I.A. has had a “defining failure” for every decade of its existence—sometimes more than one. For Moynihan, in the nineteen-nineties, it was the lack of foresight about the Soviet Union; in the two-thousands, it was the phantom weapons of mass destruction, followed by torture and, in still evolving ways, by the drone-based program of targeted killings, with its high toll of civilian deaths. Barack Obama’s rapport with John Brennan, the C.I.A.’s director from 2013 to 2017, seems to have brought him to accept the view that the killing of American citizens abroad was acceptable, if managed prudently. The overuse of the agency on the battlefield is due not to a military-manpower shortage but to wishful thinking about the benefits of secrecy and of a lack of accountability.
It’s difficult to know, at this point, what the C.I.A.’s next defining failure—or, if one tries to be optimistic, its stabilizing success—will be. Donald Trump has had a complicated relationship with the intelligence community—increasingly capitalized and abbreviated to I.C.—which is presently conducting a damage assessment regarding documents with classified markings that he kept at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida home. He might, of course, be reëlected, and have the C.I.A.’s tools at his disposal again. If the C.I.A. isn’t the place to turn for an expedient solution to foreign-policy problems, neither is it bound to be the place to turn for a solution to our democracy’s political problems.
“If you ask intelligence officers what misperceptions bother them most, odds are they’ll mention ethics,” Zegart writes. She quotes an official who complains that “people think we’re lawbreakers, we’re human rights violators.” She insists that “officers think about ethics a lot.” She portrays the agency as being filled with hardworking moms and dads who do a great deal of “agonizing.” No doubt she’s right. But if the C.I.A. keeps falling down all the same, something must be tragically amiss in the agency’s structure or culture, or both. All the talk of coups and assassination plots, Zegart worries, distracts people from understanding the C.I.A.’s more basic intelligence mission. In fact, the party most distracted by such activities—and by the military role it has taken on—seems to be the agency itself. ♦
An earlier version of this article misstated the numerical designation of the Space Force unit dedicated to intelligence.

2024.05.29 08:54 MakeshiftSpaceship I don't know if I did the right thing.

I broke up with my boyfriend of 4 years last night. I called out, I've been crying all day. There's waves of pain and numbness, and just when I think I could fall asleep, it hits me again.
He was my best friend. It all just fell apart.
He was having an emotional affair with his coworker, and I had expressed how uncomfortable the situation made me. He always got defensive, never reassured me, never invited me to hang out with them. They would go on dates together, for hours. He insisted they were just friends. He'd go thrift shopping with her for hours, go out to eat, but if I asked him to do things like that with me he would roll his eyes or say he'd rather go to the bar.
I tried to ask for him to put in some effort to do things with me, and to cut back with her a little bit until I could get to know her and be comfortable. I wasn't trying to control him, but I honestly was jealous. I felt alienated. He'd say yeah, we should all hang out, but never make it happen. He told me that he'd talk about me with her all the time, as if it should be reassuring, but it just made me uncomfortable. He was so dismissive. I felt lonely.
Yesterday, he said he was going to get food with her and maybe go to the record store. No invite for me. I went to see my friend. He stayed out until 11 pm. I texted him, asking if he was coming home. Nothing. When he got home, I was pissed. I felt abandoned. I asked him why he would do this to me. He said he'd done nothing wrong, I was overreacting. His phone died (oh, that solves everything). I broke up with him. We talked a little, but there wasn't much struggle. We both knew. We cried eachother to sleep.
This morning, it was final. It was so heavy. We talked about what this going to be like. We live together, have a lease together, have cats together. It's going to take some time. We'll try to avoid eachother, be respectful, give space. Neither of us will bring people over.
I might have been too impulsive. I probably should have thought it over more, but I was so hurt. I couldn't do it anymore. I'm going to see him every day, for at least a month, and it's already unbearable. We've talked, we've been kind to eachother, but it hurts like a fresh wound that's being poked at over and over.
I really can't wrap my head around why he treated me this way. Why couldn't he prioritize me? I feel so devalued.
It's really fucking rough. I can't sleep. I can't stop crying. We've built a beautiful life together and it's ruined. Our lives are so intertwined. I can't talk to most of my friends about it because we have so many mutual friends.
I downloaded a grief workbook, and it's helping. I think I'll need to talk to a therapist. I know things will be okay. I've been through heartbreak before. I forgot how bad it hurts.
I miss him so much already, but I think I did the right thing. Maybe I made it harder than it had to be, but I do feel a sense of relief. I don't have to beg him to be here for me, to take my insecurities and feelings seriously. I made it through the first day. Things will be okay.
Hopefully I can sleep enough to work tomorrow. Thanks for listening.

🔗World War I and II Era 1911 Webley Revolver Replica

https://preview.redd.it/uhgber32cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4977e481ccfe14310cdb402fef060907a5bfedb
As a history buff, I was drawn to the Denix Webley Revolver replica, with its ties to the Indiana Jones movies. The first thing that struck me was its weight, which made it feel like a real gun. The details were incredibly accurate, right down to the checkered grip and the engraving on the barrel.
However, I found it a bit disappointing that the break-open action didn't work. It may be a minor issue for some, but for me, it took away a bit of the authenticity.
Nevertheless, it's a great display piece and does justice to its historical origins.

🔗Realistic Airsoft Desert Eagle Pistol Replica

https://preview.redd.it/753m0sa2cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30e9356492c5b9403e0dd82497baadff71a6e065
The Desert Eagle Replica is a standout piece, reminiscent of the iconic gun from various movies, TV shows, and games. When I first held it, I felt a sense of nostalgia and excitement, as though I was wielding a true movie gun. The intricate detailing and the sturdy build make it a joy to handle, and its iconic design leaves no doubt that it's the real deal.
One of the most impressive features is the removable clip, which lends a feeling of authenticity to the replica. While some might argue that this detail is not necessary, I appreciate it for the way it adds to the overall experience of using the Desert Eagle Replica.
However, one thing that could use improvement is the working action. While it's a nice touch, it feels a bit too stiff and requires more force than necessary to cycle the chamber. An adjustable cylinder or smoother action would enhance the overall experience and provide a more authentic feel.
As I continue to use and appreciate this replica, I find that its blend of realism and collectible value make it a worthwhile addition to any airsoft enthusiast's arsenal.

🔗Springfield XDS-Series 45ACP Flat Dark Earth Laser Grip Extension

https://preview.redd.it/94t9qhk2cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d8a0a497cd0afaff71d10c864075c4fbc8e637f
Recently, I gave the Springfield X-tension Mag Extension a whirl while practicing at my local shooting range. What stood out to me right away was the increased grip area it provides, which allowed me better control, even during intense shooting sessions. The polymer construction felt durable, but without adding significant weight to the overall package.
However, there was also a slight drawback. While handling the 9.7-inch Springfield XD-Mod. 2 45ACP, I found that the extension occasionally snagged on clothing or holsters, resulting in some minor annoyances.
Overall, I'd recommend the Springfield X-tension Mag Extension for avid shooters looking for an improved grip and control experience. Just be prepared to deal with a slight increase in clothing snagging.

🔗1851 Navy Revolver: A Reliable and Handsome Sidearm for Gunfighters

https://preview.redd.it/nvzu0ey2cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cd557747c80d460b956a875ac01c1278c07b1d2
This antique beauty, the Polished Gold and Nickel M1851 Navy Revolver by Medieval Collectibles, is a sight to behold. The intricate details on this 4-barrel pistol bring it to life, transporting you back to the Civil War era, and even beyond.
The 7.5-inch barrel, with its octagonal design, has a timeless charm that's impossible to ignore. The solid frame exudes confidence and strength, much like the times it was used. At 13 inches in total length and a weight of 2.3 lbs. , it's a well-balanced sidearm for gun enthusiasts.
However, there are a few areas that might require attention. Some users have reported loose moving parts and issues with the plating, which could affect its overall durability. Additionally, there's been mention of sharp edges and misaligned fittings, which might not be ideal for those handling this piece.
Despite these setbacks, the M1851 Navy Revolver remains a coveted collectible. With the right care, it could become a prized possession, adding an element of history to your collection.

🔗Denix 1106N 1873 Old West Revolver .45 - 12.25 Inch Metal Barrel with Wood Grips

https://preview.redd.it/6rsf1083cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0587814c1ed0bdd73a1c5b70045f6005d48cdbd
I was pleasantly surprised by this 1873 Old West Revolver from Denix, it felt tough and well-constructed. The 5.5 inch black cast metal barrel and trigger give it a solid, weighted feel, while the genuine wood grips lent a touch of authenticity. In my daily life, it served as a perfect replica for a western-themed event and even in my holster, it looked great.
However, I did notice that the action of the trigger wasn't as smooth as it could be, but overall, this was a good purchase.

🔗Nickel-Finished 4-Barrel Non-Firing Revolver Replica

https://preview.redd.it/fk9kjel3cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4195b1073514f4d414b1d763205e01fea17591f
The Denix CA Classic M1851 Navy Revolver, Nickel, is a replica that truly captures the essence of the original. This non-firing piece of artistry perfectly mimics the iconic revolver, with its nickel-finished metal barrel and imitation ivory grips. The simulated firing mechanism, rotating barrel, and overall design make it a showstopper, reminding me of classic Western movies.
Despite its impressive appearance, the replica weighs in at a mere 2.3 lbs, making it an easy piece to handle and carry around with pride. However, one downside I've noticed is the overall length, which measures at 13 inches, making storage a bit of a challenge – but it's a small price to pay for such an authentic and beautiful replica.

🔗Historic 4-Barrel Pistol Replica by Denix

https://preview.redd.it/v2knbqt3cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=47e07ee0a8ebd637fb7f86917d729cccbf8c4bd1
As a fan of Civil War reenacting, the Denix 1849 Wells Fargo Revolver has been a game-changer for me. Its realistic look and feel are top-notch, making it an excellent addition to my outfit, giving it that authentic touch.
The black metal and nickel body, with its wood grips, is a delight to hold and adds a sense of weight to it - a detail that's hard to find in other replicas. However, I've also experienced some minor downsides, like the non-firing replica being the only type available. But overall, I'm thrilled with my purchase, and it has become a favorite in my collection.

🔗Nickel Finish Smith and Wesson 1869 Army Revolver Replica

https://preview.redd.it/hqsvbj64cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d17d7e14b79f45859aefab711e29777a5090aa28
As someone who's always been fascinated by the era of the Old West, I couldn't resist trying out this non-firing replica of the 1869 Army Revolver. Featuring a sleek nickel silver finish, this replica brought me back to the iconic "Cowboy" days.
Handling the replica felt like holding a piece of history, with the original's "single action" and "top break" mechanisms. It even had the added bonus of being a non-firing model, which meant I didn't have to worry about accidentally accidentally discharging it.
However, the size and weight of the replica were a bit more challenging to deal with, given that it's a faithful replica of the original. Despite this, I appreciated the fact that it gave me a better understanding of the real gun without the need to purchase one.
All in all, the Denix 1869 Army Revolver replica is a solid choice for anyone looking to step into the boots of a "Cowboy" in the Old West. Just be prepared to handle its size and weight!

🔗Wild West Cowboy Die-Cast Metal Toy Gun Set with Holster and Belt

https://preview.redd.it/43q80yf4cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d52d56d4d9e7c3345ae83db61ee8c58c86f02f71
As a kid, I remember dreaming of being an outlaw in the Wild West, and the Outlaw Pistol brought that dream to life. Crafted with solid die-cast metal and quality plastic, it feels like a real antique gun, just like those used by the famous outlaws of the era. The 12 shot action ring caps provide a satisfying bang that's thrilling and safe.
The holster and belt set add that authentic touch, making it more than just a toy. While the plastic handle may not be the most durable, it's still functional and adds a unique look to the pistol. I did find the size a bit small for my hand, but it works perfectly for my son, who absolutely loves it. Overall, the Outlaw Pistol is a great choice for anyone looking to relive the glory days of the Wild West.

🔗Authentic Walther PPK Replica Pistol for James Bond Fans

https://preview.redd.it/6mnm2cu4cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=039290b0c2031d2600a6654f6458199f5450f1af
Remember the iconic double-barrel. 45 Pistol from James Bond movies? That's the Walther PPK replica from Denix 1277 31. This isn't just a fictional weapon; it has a real history. Introduced in the 1930s, the Walther PPK has been used by police forces worldwide. Standing at only 7 inches long, it's not just a display piece but a functional weapon, albeit non-firing.
While it might not be as sleek as the real one, the Denix replica is impressive in its own right. Its smooth moving parts give it a satisfying feel, making it great for James Bond fans. But beware, the spring in the hammer of this replica can break over time, requiring a replacement that's hard to find. Nonetheless, the Denix 1277 31 Walther PPK replica is a must-have for any fan of the James Bond series.

🔗Smith & Wesson MP-45 Pistol Building Brick Toy for Gun Lovers

https://preview.redd.it/c2wz2065cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6a00e31f83ac77695d98c7424bf7559a6101812
Awhile ago, I came across the Smith & Wesson MP-45 pistol building brick toy while browsing online. As someone with a love for firearms and a great appreciation for customizable toys, I thought this would be a perfect fit.
This 268-piece toy is a detailed replica of the original MP-45, making it a favorite among gun enthusiasts and Lego aficionados alike. The toy is designed with an eye for detail and features intricate engineering that makes it feel like the real deal.
One of the highlights of this toy is how it caters to a diverse range of interests. It serves as a tribute to the rich history of the MP-45 while also allowing individuals to express their creativity through building the toy brick by brick.
However, the one downside to this otherwise great product is its size. While it's a well-crafted replica, the size of the toy can make it challenging to use or carry around. Additionally, some reviewers have mentioned that the magazine sometimes falls out if the toy is picked up and pointed forward.
Despite these minor issues, overall, I found the Smith & Wesson MP-45 pistol building brick toy to be an impressive piece that stands out in my collection. Its attention to detail, variety in options, and its ability to cater to both fans of firearms and bricks make it a unique and enjoyable experience.

🔗Authentic 45 Peacemaker Replica Revolver by Denix

https://preview.redd.it/yaq3yvm5cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f9b4955fea6f2c96b949e96e4cbd329a26cd713
I recently added the Denix 0.45 Army Revolver Engraved Brass FD1280L to my collection, and it's been a fantastic addition. This non-firing replica, featuring a gold patina finish and a wooden grip, brings the 45 Peacemaker look to life. I'm impressed with its weight and the realistic feel it provides—almost like I'm holding a piece of history.
The engraving on this magnificent replica adds to its allure, making it a beautiful conversation starter. As a collector, I appreciate the authentic details—from the barrel length of 3.875 inches to the gold patina finish. The wooden grip not only enhances its aesthetic value but also makes it feel like a genuine piece from the past.
One thing to note, some users have mentioned they would have liked a red tip at the end of the barrel, like on the real 1873 Single-Action Army Revolver. However, this does not seem to be a deal-breaker as the majority of reviews praise its realism and quality.
Overall, I highly recommend the Denix 0.45 Army Revolver Engraved Brass FD1280L to anyone who loves history and wants a realistic replica in their hands.

🔗Springfield XD 45ACP Magazine Pouch

https://preview.redd.it/ejnqe2y5cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b09e0427b2c9e170500f3c772580b82910d34428
I recently had the chance to try the Sprgfld Dbl Mag PCH 45ACP Blk, a sturdy and reliable magazine pouch from Springfield. With its ambidextrous design, this pouch proved to be a great fit for XD 45 models, providing easy access to extra ammo when on the move.
The most impressive feature of this pouch is its sleek black finish, which adds a touch of sophistication to your carry setup. It's also surprisingly lightweight, making it a great addition to any everyday carry kit.
While I appreciate the durability of the pouch, it does have a tendency to shift ever so slightly when filled with ammo, which can be a minor inconvenience. However, this issue is easily remedied by either adjusting the placement of the pouch or using a strap to keep it snug against your gear.
In conclusion, the Sprgfld Dbl Mag PCH 45ACP Blk is a well-designed and functional magazine pouch that adds convenience and reliability to your carry setup. While its small drawback might be slightly frustrating, the overall experience is still a positive one for anyone seeking an efficient way to store their XD 45 magazines.

🔗Springfield Armory XD Mod.2 .45 ACP 13-Round Magazine

https://preview.redd.it/zqltyga6cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1f37c962b217fb025562df20ebdee42ddfdf515
As someone who values reliable handguns for personal or home defense, the Springfield Armory. 45 ACP 13-Round XD Mod. 2 is a top pick. Its precision in manufacturing and high-quality components make it a great choice for both beginners and experienced gun owners. The stainless steel and polymer base plate ensure durability and easy maintenance without compromising on performance.
The 13-round capacity allows for quick reloading during critical situations, while the overall build quality guarantees a long-lasting, trustworthy companion. Overall, the Springfield Armory. 45 ACP XD Mod. 2 exceeds expectations in terms of both power and precision.
However, some users might find the price slightly steep compared to other options in the market.

🔗Realistic 19th Century Smith & Wesson Revolver Replica with Antique Blue Finish

https://preview.redd.it/bk475ok6cb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9305d4d3a4da839cce6ff33e7fc84c0a96987b96
I recently added the Denix Replicas 1008L to my collection, and let me tell you, it's quite the impressive addition. The brass and blue finish blend beautifully, capturing the essence of the original Smith and Wesson "First Model American" Army Revolver. It's interesting to see how the hinged frame and automatic ejection system were pivotal in the evolution of firearms.
Despite its antique charm, the replica still brings a sense of realism with its single action mechanism and top break loading design. The wood grips add a touch of refinement to the overall design. However, using it brought to light a minor flaw – the wood grip's durability. In my experience, the grip began to show signs of wear, which was a bit of a letdown.
Overall, the Denix Replicas 1008L is a delightful addition to any collection, and it serves as a great reminder of the technological advancements made in the field of firearms. Despite its minor flaw, the replica still holds a special place in my heart.

2024.05.29 08:51 TheDreadPirateRobots [Have Gun - Will Travel] - 1.2

*System Restart\*
I blinked at the text hanging in the air.
A small image of da Vinci’s vitruvian man did calisthenics underneath the words. More information scrolled upwards.
HumanOS Version: 1.0 Model: Vincent J. Carter Serial: 987-65-4329 Battery: 1560 @ 100% Memory: 640/640 Provider: None Network: None Credits: 9360 Expansion: None
The words flashed then swirled and transformed into a small translucent cog that hovered in the top right corner of my vision. Other icons floated into existence across the top of my vision, just like the info bar on a cellphone. An (8E) symbol, signal bars at 100%, and a full battery symbol. The time was currently 16:43 and it was Thursday, June 16th 1885
“What the heck?” I muttered, my voice loud in the silence of the ruined room.
I focused on the cog and a series of icons filled my vision. It took me about two seconds to understand that I could move them around using nothing more than my thoughts.
App Store, Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Clock, Gear, Inventory, Map, Notes, System.
“Did… Am I somehow mentally fused with my smartphone?” I wondered aloud. The timeless chaos and the voice were fading to dreamlike memories, a nightmare event that scratched at the edge of my sanity and threatened to overwhelm me. Did that entity think that the cellphone was some part of me?
“Okay, no worries. Let’s get back home and deal with this later.” I grumbled. “Hopefully I don’t run into a protest or riot or get locked up for violating curfew or not wearing a mask.”
I mentally selected [Map]
A transparent map of the room filled my vision along with tiny labels covering everything. Ruined chair, ruined bed, ruined table, rusty knife, leather pouch, unknown book. A moment later I had mastered the controls and zoomed out to find… nothing. The map was blank.
*Local Map Updating…\*
The Local map was updating, possibly because it needed to be filled in by my own exploration? I noticed a couple of icons on the left side of my vision and focused on them. Map Type, Search. Map Type allowed me to switch between Local, Transit, and Terrain.
I flipped between them and was rewarded with better information. The Transit map was like a traditional map, just lines and points of interest with the distance and travel times. I am currently in ‘Ruins of Fort Galos” with a dirt road that leads 3 miles south to “Wendleton Road” which zooms out to run between the cities of Wendleton and Comstock. Another zoom out and I’m located in the Region of Stratford… zoom out…on the continent of North Anglia… zoom out … on the planet of Aerth.
It sort of looks like Earth, if Earth had no polar ice caps. I can recognise the major continents, although most are shaped strangely because the oceans are so high. North America is split completely in two by a huge gulf that eats up all of Louisiana, most of the southern states, and carves a deep furrow all the way up to the Great Lakes and out to the eastern seaboard. Florida is missing, as is most of the eastern seaboard. The map calls that area ‘Colonia’ and it’s marked with a somewhat familiar red, white, and blue flag with just 17 stars. I’m located somewhere near Colorado, but Colorado doesn’t exist anymore. It’s part of Wilmont county in the Region of Stratford in an area called the Midlands.
My hands started shaking. It’s some sort of joke. Some kind of insanity. Some sort of delusion. Or maybe I’m delirious with the damned virus and having a mad dream. Okay. Okay. Deep breaths. Calm down and think rationally. I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths, inhaling the musty and burnt scents of my new reality.
Okay, if I’m really in some alternate world then maybe things aren’t so bad? I was on the verge of being homeless and now I am homeless, so, nothing has really changed, right? And since I seem to be fused with my smartphone, maybe I can use that to my advantage? I quickly imagined a million ways I could die in a fantasy world and pushed down the panic. No sense in panicking just yet — we can do that later when I’m being burnt at the stake for witchcraft or something.
I flipped back over to Local Map and examined the room again. Leather pouch, rusty knife, and unknown book were located under the rotting carcass of the bed. I approached it and looked carefully to see if I could spot them. I smiled to myself thinking maybe I could make a living as some sort of detective or something, finding lost items with preternatural ability. Unable to see anything in the mass of mushrooms and ferns, I mentally tapped the label “Leather pouch” on the Local Map.
*Place Item in Inventory? [Y/N]\*
I selected [Y] and received a notification. Memory: [639/640]
Huh. It takes up memory.
I pulled the heavy pouch from inventory and into my hand. The leather was dried and stiff, but I managed to open it to reveal 1 golden coin, 50 tarnished silver, 68 copper, and 30 bronze coins.
The copper coins were about the size of a nickel and quite worn, but I could make out the face of some priest with a fancy hat on the face and a hammer and anvil on the reverse. The brass were the size of a quarter and similarly worn, and featured a bull on the face and a sheaf of wheat on the reverse. The silver were the size of a dime and slightly tarnished, with the image of some queen on the face and a crescent moon on the reverse. The gold coin was untouched by time and featured a stern looking king on the face, with a stylised sun on the opposite face. I popped everything back into Inventory.
Huh. It appears that everything I stick into inventory counts against the available memory of 640 that was listed earlier, but coins stack into one slot for each type so now I have 636/640 memory. Not bad, not bad. A little experimentation quickly proved that I could add the ruined chair and table too. One slot each. A seriously overpowered feature that I planned to abuse in the future — just put things in bags and boxes and my Inventory was practically unlimited! I rubbed my hands together like an evil villain. Half an hour ago I was a broke nobody with no future, and now I’m able to start completely fresh with cash and some strange abilities. Thank you strange entity!
It was terrifying and exhilarating. I wanted to dance and puke at the same time.
I placed the Unknown Book into Inventory and it popped into my hands a moment later along with a strong musty aroma. The leather cover was green with mould and swollen with moisture. Carefully flipping through the pages I stared in wonder at the illustrated script. It was like one of those old religious books you see in museums, every page a work of art. Too bad it’s written in some strange language I can’t read. Arabic maybe? Putting it back into Inventory, it took just a moment to figure out that I could get a quick overview of the item. [Unknown Book. A mouldy old book written in an unknown language.]
The rusty knife was what my father would have called a “pig sticker”, with a grubby leather sheath, bone handle, and a thick blade about ten inches long. Even though the blade was spotted with a bit of rust, it seemed to be in decent condition and could probably be salvaged with a whetstone and some oil. It was a weapon, and considering current events, a welcome addition to my new collection of personal possessions.
I kept the ruined chair and table in inventory. Never know when you might need firewood.
The Calculator was pretty cool, selecting it allowed me to mentally perform arithmetic in moments or provided a count of items in my vision. As long as it was open I could just think of a simple maths problem and the answer popped in my head along with a running tally. There was a scientific tab on it, but I didn’t foresee me using cosine functions anytime soon.
The Camera was interesting, allowing me to snap a photo of what I could see, but each picture used one memory although they only took up one Inventory slot. Delete, Delete, Delete.
Calendar was 13 months with 30 days each. The weeks were 6 days long and Monday was missing. Good. I don’t like Mondays. Especially since the days here are 26 hours long. I could also set appointments and reminders.
Clock was a basic clock with alarms and stopwatch function.
Notes was really cool though, it was like virtual paper. I could sketch things with my finger, or use thought-to-text, or even attach photos to the note and save them, which took up one Inventory slot per filename. The Export function created a thick piece of paper that appeared in my hand. Nice. Fire starting material!
It has an Import function too?
I created a new Note, then imported the mouldy book from my Inventory. It appeared as a virtual object in my vision that I could manipulate with a thought. Then I exported it. A popup appeared in my vision and I watched my Battery dip from 1560 down to 1460, then a duplicate appeared in my inventory. Sweet! I could set up shop as a magical print-wizard! Or work as a pack-mule, hauling entire warehouses of goods invisibly. I chuckled to myself imagining that.
However it took 100 battery points, so it wasn’t much of a cheat unless I could reproduce expensive texts. I wonder if it took 100 battery for everything, or if it was based on the complexity of the object?
System had some nice features included. One was Health Monitor, which gave me a general screen of any health issues. Notifications was also nice for popping up things that might be important. Nothing else of real importance, just some little tweaks to the User Interface and the ability to turn off the (8E) connection I had noticed earlier. Airplane mode, I guess.
Another hunch presented itself in the System and I opened up the language setting. English was currently selected. I scrolled through the selection and choose Arabic from the list. A slight wave of dizziness washed over me and I examined the unknown book again. Nope. Still unknown.
I sighed and flipped back to the language settings and noticed there’s an “Auto-Translate” selection. Mentally mashing the illusory button in my User Interface, another wave of dizziness washed over me. This time the unknown book had a tag on it. [Old Avestan - Translate? Y/N]
Duh, yes, translate! An old, unknown book hidden in a burned out room? That just screams Secret Book of Incredibly Over Powered Magic, doesn’t it? Annnnd… Nope. I flipped through the copy and it seems to be nothing more than some religious textbook. Beautifully illustrated, but I’m not getting any magic vibes off of it. I tossed it back in my inventory [Book. Zoroastrian religious text. Professionally Illustrated. 50SP] and continued my journey of self exploration.
When I enabled “Show Hidden Files” in System, it was absolutely terrifying. File names like “Digestion.dna”, “Endocrine.dna” and “Sensory.dna” filled my vision. I disabled that feature as soon as I realised what I was looking at. I’d hate to accidentally delete my sense of taste, or something even more important.
The Service tab under System was confusing. It seemed to be some sort of weird version of a mobile service plan that asked me to choose a Service Provider.
There were dozens of Service Providers to choose from; Industrial Charms & Enchantments, Whitehall Wizard Group, Sorcerer’s United, Atlantis Magic and Enchantment, and a slew of other providers with different tiers named after gemstones and the best offering being the Diamond Unlimited plan that offered ‘unlimited mana and roaming, some limits apply’ for an astronomical amount per month. I could see the service zones of each provider laid out across a map, along with colour coding for the quality of service ranging from 1E to 8E.
I could also choose from various Celestial or Infernal Contracts which had entire pages of TOS benefits and obligations. Another terrifying aspect of my new world.
I decided to dig into that mess later. I had no use for a service provider and picking one was a problem for future-me if I ever needed one.
The Gear icon opened up a minimalist overlay with a picture of me and the items I was wearing. Socks, shorts, underwear, tee-shirt. A mental twitch rotated the image and confirmed that my backside was just as filthy as the floor. Two buttons were visible next to my image, [Custom] and [Labourer]. I selected Labourer and the image shifted to show me wearing work boots, wool socks, denim trousers, leather belt, cotton underwear, cotton pull-over shirt, leather gloves, soft-brim hat. [Select? Y/N]
A mental push of the button and a million indigo motes surrounded me. Two seconds and 10 battery later I was wearing the new gear. And clean! All the grime on my arms and legs had vanished. Seriously, how awesome is that? I still feel like I need a shower though.
[Labourer class selected - Standard] Skills: Lifting, toting, stepping, fetching, shifting, digging, hauling, packing…
Knowledge of menial labour filled my head beyond what I was already familiar with. I somehow knew the most efficient ways to dig a ditch, safely shift a box, casually walk to the water cooler, and slack off while looking busy.
Huh. Did changing my gear change my class? That’s interesting. What happens if I put on a Wizard hat? Would I become some sort of hybrid day-labour wizard with spells for digging ditches? Oh, wait. I have five slots and can fill them with clothing and label them whatever I want.
I opened up the App Store.
Holy. Shitsnacks.
Dozens of icons filled my vision, offering a vast selection of what appeared to be careers? Professions? Classes? Skills?
Archivist, Accountant, Bartender, Book keeper, Cartwright, Con-artist, Farmhand, Herbalist, Hobo, Inn keeper, …Priest, Prostitute, Politician, …Sorcerer, Tailor, …Wizard, Zookeeper.
It was a huge and confusing array of choices.

2024.05.29 08:50 Big-Kitchen-621 Poor management😀

I’ve been working at a dollar general as a key holder for about 2 months now. All of our asm are Hispanic and a girl who just got hired a week before me is being bumped up to an asm she’s also Hispanic, My gm is Hispanic as well. I half Hispanic but my skin tone is whites you wouldn’t know I was Mexican until you’ve seen my mom. All of the white employees hours got cut. I’m went from 20 hours a week to 8 if I’m lucky another girl went from 25 hours to 12 if she’s lucky and she’s on the brink of being fired. The Hispanic employees hours got bumped up though 😀. My gm is constantly telling people that she thinks I just don’t want to help and I’ve tried explaining to her that what she’s saying isn’t true and she’s creating a hostile workplace. I came to her two and a half weeks ago and let her know that I had some issues going on at home and it left me with no one to watch my kids so I asked to be on the morning shift. That’s when the whole “I feel like she just doesn’t want to help” started and that’s when my hours got cut. I was already working morning, so there wouldn’t be any change to the schedule. I’ve already started applying to other places but right now finding work is hard. I’ve worked in restaurants up until now and I’m still learning how retail works. She constantly checks my task when I say that it’s finished and if I forgot to pull an item forward or if customers come in a messes everything I’ve done up she gets upset with me and gets an attitude. She’s constantly trying to find a reason to be upset with me and I’m not sure what else to do. If I call hr they won’t do anything

🔗Leupold Gold Ring 12-40x60mm HD Folded Light Path Spotting Scope

https://preview.redd.it/9jmcjuyfbb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77f14071355ee78b84b48327c48d46c5289a06bf
I recently got my hands on the Leupold Gold Ring 12-40x60mm HD Spotting Scope, and I must say it's a game-changer! This little powerhouse boasts an Extra Low Dispersion Optical System, which maximizes color fidelity and contrast. It provides an incredible image across a wide field of view, all with best-in-class eye relief for easy viewing with or without eyeglasses.
One feature that really stood out for me was the Folded Light Path (FLP) system. Instead of using prisms, this system employs mirrors to compress a long optical path into half its length, making the scope incredibly compact and portable.
Another highlight is its magnesium housing. This lightweight material packs a serious punch when it comes to durability, making it ideal for rough outdoor conditions. And don't even get me started on the 100% waterproof and fog proof capabilities - this thing can brave any weather!
However, one issue I encountered was with the focus knob. It's extremely stiff and doesn't change smoothly as you adjust the magnification. It took me quite a few tries to get used to it. Additionally, there's no diopter adjustment, but the good eye relief somewhat compensates for that.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I've been thoroughly impressed by the Leupold Gold Ring HD Spotting Scope. Its top-notch optical performance combined with its rugged construction makes it a strong contender in the realm of spotting scopes. If you're in the market for one, this could be an excellent investment.

In my pursuit of a new spotting scope that could enhance my wildlife viewing and target shooting experiences, I stumbled upon the SVBONY SV28 Spotting Scopes. From the moment I opened the package, I was impressed by its sleek exterior and sturdy construction.
One feature that stood out to me was its range of magnification capabilities - the SV28 allowed me to adjust the magnification according to my target distance, providing crystal clear image quality. The lens was exceptionally sharp, making it perfect for both target shooting and observing nature. Another aspect I appreciated was the ease of focus adjustment, ensuring that every detail was visible no matter the distance.
However, I have to say that the tripod that came with the unit seemed a bit lackluster compared to my usual tripod. I ended up using my own sturdier tripod, but it was still nice to have the option included in the package. Additionally, while the phone adapter was a nice addition, I felt it could have been more user-friendly.
Overall, the SVBONY SV28 Spotting Scopes exceeded my expectations, offering outstanding clarity and exceptional value for its price. Though there were a few minor quibbles, I would definitely recommend it to others in search of a reliable, affordable spotting scope for their outdoor adventures.

🔗Premium 400/70mm Travel Telescope with Adjustable Tripod and Star Finder

As an amateur astronomer, I recently gave the Tuword Telescope Pro 400/70 FMC a try to explore the stars and the moon. Its 70mm aperture and large field of view made it a perfect telescope for me. The fully coated optical glass lens provided clear and bright imaging. One of the best features was the fine adjustment lever, which allowed me to effortlessly adjust the viewing position.
The telescope felt sturdy and well-built, made of premium materials. The included smartphone adapter made it convenient to capture stunning images of celestial objects. The star finder quickly located objects and the 45° orthogonal prism displayed the ortho-rectified true color image comfortably.
I also appreciated the adjustable aluminum tripod, which was easy to set up and provided a stable platform for viewing. The travel bag made the telescope portable and easy to store.
Overall, the Tuword Telescope Pro 400/70 FMC is a great telescope for both adults and kids who want to delve into the wonders of the night sky.

🔗Versatile Digital Telescope with HD 70X Magnification and Wireless Monocular Support

I recently tried out the 70x WiFi Digital Telescope, and let me tell you, it had its fair share of pros and cons. The most noticeable aspect was the 70X manual focus, providing a crisp and clear view of distant objects. The 2MP camera was another standout feature, capturing detailed images and videos seamlessly.
However, there were a few drawbacks. The 50-meter wireless distance limit felt a bit restrictive at times, especially when trying to observe objects from afar. Additionally, the battery life, although decent, could have been longer for extended use.
Overall, the 70x WiFi Digital Telescope was a solid choice for anyone looking to capture and view distant objects, but it could be improved with a few minor tweaks.

During a recent trip to the mountains, I had the chance to put Leupold's Gold Ring 12-40x60mm HD Spotting Scope to the test. While the gray housing looked sleek, it was the scope's impressive durability that truly stood out. I had read that Leupold had implemented a proprietary nitrogen fill process to ensure a 100% waterproof and fog-proof performance. I eagerly put the scope to the test, by inadvertently dipping it into a small stream. To my delight, it continued to function flawlessly, proving the effectiveness of this innovative feature.
A few days later, I took the scope to a nearby wildlife preserve to spot endangered birds in their natural habitat. The scope's impressive magnification was an absolute game-changer. It allowed me to observe the delicate intricacies of these fascinating creatures, from the texture of their feathers to their unique flight patterns. The extra low dispersion optical system played a pivotal role in delivering stunningly vivid and bright colors, contributing to an overall remarkable viewing experience.
The tripod-ready feature also proved to be quite practical in my adventure, as it enabled me to easily stabilize the scope for extended periods of time, even under challenging conditions. The prism-less folding light path, which uses mirrors to compress the long optical system, was another standout feature. It significantly reduced the scope's weight and made it more compact, making it convenient to carry anywhere.
Although the price of this Gold Ring scope is significantly higher than most other brands, it's worth every penny. Its remarkable performance ensures that it remains a valuable addition to my gear, even amidst the vast competition in the market. With a plethora of customizable settings, the scope serves as an unparalleled guide for spotting and tracking game, be it for hunting or observational purposes. While the Leupold 20x60x80 Gold Ring might seem expensive, the extraordinary visual performance it delivers makes it truly worth the investment.

The Athlon Optics Argos HD 20-60x85 spotting scope captured my attention with its high-grade Argon gas and BaK4 Prisms, which deliver a fog-free experience and impressive image clarity. I was particularly impressed with the advanced fully multi-coated lenses that reflect more light, giving me sharper and brighter images. The composite chassis not only provides strength but is also much lighter than I had anticipated.
One feature that stood out in my experience was the twist-up eye-cup, allowing me to easily adjust the eye relief to suit my own comfort. In addition, the argon purged and waterproof design provided an added layer of protection during my outdoor adventures.
While I was largely satisfied with this spotting scope, I did encounter a couple of downsides. Occasionally, the image seemed slightly blurry when zoomed in at max power, though this was less of an issue overall. Additionally, some users reported difficulties with perfect focus, a challenge I experienced myself but found manageable with some adjustment.
Overall, I believe the Athlon Optics Argos HD spotting scope offers a solid balance of performance and affordability, making it a worthwhile choice for outdoor enthusiasts seeking quality optics without breaking the bank.

🔗Celestron TrailSeeker 65 Spotting Scope - Compact and Versatile

As someone who spends a lot of time birdwatching, I was eager to try out the Celestron TrailSeeker 65 spotting scope. With its 45-degree eyepiece, it offered a great balance between magnification and field of view, making it perfect for observing birds in their natural habitat.
One of the standout features of this spotting scope is its fully multi-coated XLT optics, which deliver crisp, high contrast images. It made a huge difference in the clarity and sharpness of the images I was able to see through the scope. The dual focus mechanism was also a game-changer, allowing me to quickly home in on my subject before finely tuning the image.
However, there were a few drawbacks I noticed while using the TrailSeeker 65. The scope's waterproofing seemed to slightly impact the clarity of the image, causing some distortion around the edges. Additionally, the tripod adaptability could have been improved, as I found it quite challenging to adjust the scope on uneven terrain.
Overall, the Celestron TrailSeeker 65 spotting scope was a great investment for someone looking for a solid, easy-to-carry scope that delivers great performance. While it may not be perfect for everyone, I certainly recommend it to those in search of a top-notch birdwatching tool.

The Celestron 21035 70mm Travel Scope is the perfect companion for those who love the night sky and want to explore it without breaking the bank. As an experienced astronomer, I've had my fair share of scopes, and I must say, this one exceeded all my expectations.
The scope's all coated glass optical elements allow for clear, crisp images that make it a delight to observe the backyard birds or the vast expanse of the night sky. The smooth functioning altazimuth mount makes pointing to objects a breeze, and the preassembled aluminum full-size photographic tripod adds to the convenience of setting up the scope quickly.
However, the 20mm eyepiece does have a narrower field of view, which may be a downside for some, but the scope's overall performance more than compensates for it. The tripod may be flimsy for some, but its lightweight design is perfect for travel and outdoor activities.
In conclusion, the Celestron Travel Scope 70 is a fantastic choice for those who want an affordable, portable, and high-quality telescope that offers excellent views by day and amazing performance under the stars. Its lightweight magnesium body, along with the Twilight Max HD Light Management System, ensured clear visibility in both low light and bright sunlight conditions, making it perfect for any weather. The scope's range allowed me to observe game animals at a distance of 1000 yards with ease, and I could even discern bullet holes on white paper at 600 yards.
Despite its high-quality image and durability, I did notice a few minor issues. The scope did not come with a protective case, which I found to be a letdown considering its price point. However, the lack of a case was more than compensated by the scope's advanced features and performance.

As a beginner, I found using the National Geographic 70mm Refracting Telescope to be an exciting and enlightening experience. The first time I looked through the lens, I was immediately drawn to the vast expanse of stars and the intricate constellations that illuminate the night sky. The rich field of view provided by the telescope made it easy for me to locate prominent celestial bodies, such as the moon and bright stars.
One feature that stood out to me was the tripod's adjustable height. This allowed me to find a comfortable position and maintain a clear and stable view of the night sky. Additionally, the telescope's compact design and included carrying case made it easy to transport and store when not in use.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks to using this telescope. For one, the telescope seemed a bit flimsy in construction, which caused some difficulty in keeping it steady and focused. Additionally, some of the components, such as the eyepieces, seemed slightly low in quality, making the overall experience less enjoyable.
In conclusion, the National Geographic 70mm Refracting Telescope was a good choice for a beginner astronomer like myself. Taking the Celestron Travel Scope 70 DX on a stargazing adventure was a delight. It came with a potent 70mm objective lens, providing a bright, enhanced view of celestial objects. The fully-coated glass optics ensured high-quality images, and the lightweight frame made it convenient to carry around. However, the included tripod was underwhelming in terms of stability, and the carrying case could have been better designed for secure storage.
One of the standout features was the erect image diagonal, which had a 45-degree 1.25-inch eyepiece. This allowed for correct orientation and a more comfortable viewing experience. The refractor's aluminum optical tube offered a balance between weight, durability, and aesthetics. The telescope was easy to set up, thanks to the preassembled aluminum full-size photographic tripod.
It was a joy to use the two high-quality eyepieces (20mm and 10mm), providing low- and high-power views with ease. However, the tripod's stability issue was a drawback, especially when observing celestial objects with the naked eye. The provided moon filter and 2x barlow lens were valuable accessories, while the smartphone adapter and Bluetooth shutter release added versatility.
Despite the tripod's limitations and the need for an improved carrying case, the Celestron Travel Scope 70 DX delivered a satisfying stargazing experience. Its portability, powerful eyepieces, and lightweight frame made for a delightful adventure. While there may be areas for improvement, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I would recommend it for those seeking a portable telescope for stargazing and terrestrial viewing.

Buyer's Guide

Whether you're a seasoned hunter or just starting to explore the world of firearms, a good scope is an essential piece of equipment. When it comes to rifle scopes, the 45-70 series offers a versatile option for many shooting scenarios. Let's dive into the world of 45-70 scopes and discuss what factors to consider when purchasing one.

Magnum Capabilities

https://preview.redd.it/k24v1gdnbb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e8a7a55a766e519e12e59dbada089c124541a6e
The term "magnum" is often associated with powerful rifles and ammunition, allowing for increased range and accuracy. However, with a 45-70 scope, you're getting more than just a powerful sight. Magnum scopes are designed to handle larger calibers, which is crucial for the 45-70 rifle's recoil and muzzle blast.

Field of View (FOV) and Magnification

When selecting a 45-70 Scope, it's essential to consider the Field of View (FOV) at varying distances and the magnification level. A higher magnification factor will provide you with a clearer and enlarged image for better accuracy, but it comes at the cost of a narrower FOV. It's best to strike a balance between clarity and a more natural peripheral view.

Durability and Weather Resistance

Considering the demanding nature of hunting and outdoor activities, durability and weather resistance become key factors when purchasing a 45-70 Scope. Look for features such as fog-proof lenses and a waterproof design to ensure your scope can withstand various weather conditions and remains functional in the field.

https://preview.redd.it/1c34gcrnbb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cd40708c2381fd871d7d263c124c6df2ed86a12

Reticle Options

A good 45-70 scope should offer several reticle options to cater to different shooting scenarios. Some common reticles include the duplex, mil-dot, or crosshair. Consider your intended use of the scope and choose a reticle that suits your needs best.

Price Considerations

While price is a factor to consider when purchasing any product, it's crucial to strike a balance between cost and the quality of the scope. Opt for a mid-range price point that will provide you with the necessary features and performance without compromising on safety or accuracy.

Brand and Reputation

https://preview.redd.it/5kbxb16obb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9b6592813289e5a619d554c1e8694cd9231c85c
Research and choose a reputable brand with a history of producing high-quality rifle scopes. Brand reputation is an essential aspect to consider, as it indicates the company's dedication to quality, customer satisfaction, and innovation.
Now that you've gained a better understanding of the important elements to consider when purchasing a 45-70 Scope, you're well on your way to making an informed decision. Remember to prioritize quality, durability, and performance, while considering factors such as FOV, mag magnification, reticle options, and brand reputation. Happy hunting!
