My neighbor stole about $350 of groceries when it was delivered to their house. It was also my mistake for not noticing the delivery time, since the window was an hour out, but when I got to their house all of my food was gone. I rang their doorbell and no one answered. I got a call this evening from IC customer service. A woman I had just delivered to said the delivery wasn’t there when she went to look for it. I was about a mile away, so I went to see if I put it in the wrong place or something. Nope, it was right there in front of her door. I had customer service still on the phone, grabbed the bag, and verified the address. Yep, all correct. The customer must have heard me talking to the agent on the phone and came to get the groceries. She said they weren’t there before.
It was the right address. She simply had not looked outside or something. There’s no way to miss a bag of food on your stoop. Customer service said the customer was suspect of the whole experience and didn’t want to look at the picture of her delivered food.
I don’t get it. Not sure what all that was about. I fussed at the CS guy a bit though for taking me away from getting another order because I had to deal with that nonsense.

I graduated college, I finally landed a job that uses my degree, I work full time. And what did that get me? A life of living in an apartment, no pets, no children, no money for hobbies, nothing.
I pretty much just work, play some xbox (that I bought used for 100 bucks), sleep, and wait for the weekend to maybe go fishing or something.
During the week I work and do deliveries like door dash to make a few extra bucks. But it doesn't really make a difference in the end.
I deliver to some pretty fucking high end houses. I just delivered to a 1.8mil house in the woods on the expensive side of town. And I just wonder, what the fuck do they do to afford that.
I'm tired man. I have health issues. My friends have drifted apart from me and moved away. I don't have my childhood dog anymore.
Really the only thing keeping me here are my parents, but once they're gone I'm checking the fuck out.
There is no reward for hard work, I can't buy a house, probably ever. I can't retire. I can't afford to retire and probably never will.
I know my strengths and weaknesses and I can only work within those bounds, and I know that the world just doesn't give a fuck about someone like me with my talents, no one will ever pay me good money for my abilities. I'm forever going to live in an apartment (if I'm lucky) and that's all I have to look forward to in life. I can't even get a pet because my place doesn't allow them.
What the fuck is the point man.

I honestly don't understand, but I am a person who would rather do everything on my own than ask an employee a question.
I work at a pet store and these are some of the interactions that drive me crazy.
Today a man told me he was looking for a toy for his dog. I led him to the toy aisle. He asked for suggestions. I gave him a few which he didn't like. I don't understand why this needed to go any further than me just showing him the toy aisle. I don't know what his dog likes. It's all up to personal preference and budget for what kind of toy you'll get your dog.
The other day someone told me they were looking for dog food with chicken in it. That's 90% of our dog foods. I pointed them to the dog food section. They wanted me to show them. Use your eyes. Theyre literally everywhere. It's the most common flavor.
A customer asked me which fish they should get. I told them it's up to them. Theyvwanted suggestions. I pointed a few out that I liked, they didnt like them.
Lastly, the worst. "my dog is allergic to _. Does this food have ___ in it?" This always results in me following the customer around and reading all the ingredients on the bag. Why can't you do it yourself? I don't spend my spare time memorizing the ingredients of each dog food.
Seriously, I don't understand why people can't just use their eyes and make a decision.
I got a new job in an office and I start next week. Thank God. I'm sure I'll have annoying clients still finding me there though.

Hi! I'm thinking of adopting a cat soon. I already have all of the material startup items (litterbox/toys/food bowl/ scratching post etc.). I'm trying to sort out how much it will really cost to own a cat in monthly costs. How much do you actually spend on food? Litter? Vet bills? Any recommendations for food brands that aren't terrible for the cat but also won't break the bank? The estimates seem to range from $1,000-$2,000 a year but the people on the pet subreddits can get a little crazy about what is and isn't acceptable pet care.

I've had a baby savannah monitor for about 1 1/2 months now without my parents knowing. Im well aware that they do get large and are a big commitment, but I've worked with reptiles for years and have researched and wanted one of these guys for a LOOOONG time. Im fully capable of caring for it and I know how to build its enclosure when it gets bigger. I have over 20 individual animals (about 10 species, which are mostly invertebrates, and only 5 reptiles/amphibians) and they are all doing fantastic. I also pay for all my stuff, be it food, electric, and their enclosures.
They said it's too big and I have to get rid of it. I've tried to find compromises such as downscaling my collection (which I was already trying to do to make room for fewer but better animals). I personally don't understand why they won't allow me to keep it if I do everything for it. I mean, they don't even have to look at it if they don't want to. I've saved money for years and have over $1000 set aside just for this.
Any thoughts on what I can do? I'd really not like to get rid of it because I can't ship it back to Florida (I'm in SoCal) and I don't want to send it to a rescue because so many savannah monitors are sent to rescues because people don't realize how big they get and purchase them as tiny babies, thinking they'll stay that size.
My point is I know what I'm doing so they don't have to. I'd love to hear what you guys think I should do.
(btw I'm 13 and have worked with almost every commonly kept reptile - and more exotic, zoo type species - since I was 5; mainly from doing summer camps at the Star Eco Station so much that they kinda just let me do whatever and working at an exotic pet shop for a while - I wasn't paid, just sort of volunteering.)

I’ve been working from home the past few years, but will be going back to an in-office role that involves traveling for a few days at least once per month (potentially more during busier seasons).
I have a small rescue dog who just turned 10 & has been my little partner in crime since I adopted her as a puppy. We’re pretty inseparable, she lays in her bed next to my desk while I work & loves coming in the car with me on coffee runs.
I’m worried about how the transition will affect her, more so the travel aspect, as she did fine prior to me working remote. We go on neighborhood walks daily & she runs off leash in my complex on potty breaks. She loves playing with other dogs so I do plan on enrolling her in doggy day care, starting with 1-2 days per week. I would be open to hiring a dog walker too.
My concern is with overnight stays. I’ve had horrible, traumatic experiences with sitters. I lost my previous dog at 8 months old under a trusted neighbor’s care (obviously an accident but the story still doesn’t add up to this day). I tried numerous Rover sitters, some were just okay, others cost me thousands in emergency vet costs. I boarded her at a nice facility during my last trip, but I hate that she has to spend her nights alone in a sterile room.
My dog is well-trained, I can’t even recall the last time she had an accident or got into anything. You could pull her tail or steal her food & she would never snap. She’s the most gentle, loving dog, great with kids & other pets. I keep up with her hygiene, regular baths/grooming & dental care. Literally a dream dog (but I’m biased lol).
I can’t seem to find anyone I trust to watch her (no family nearby). I left her with a friend (whose dog I watched often) & she put a bark collar on her without my consent. She did it with her own dog who barked excessively, but my dog only barks when someone is at the door & I would never agree to use that. When I watch a pet, I always treat them as if they were my own, but it’s so hard to find that in sitters now.
Any tips or suggestions for making the transition easier on my dog (including finding reputable sitters) are greatly appreciated!
