2024.05.29 04:30 AutoModerator [May 29, 2024] - Weekly lost, found, or need a new home thread

Use this post to share any budgies that are lost, found, or need a new home!

Some rules:
  1. Only share information you feel comfortable sharing. Example: rather than giving out your full address, maybe only say something like, "I'm in the Tampa Bay Area" instead. If someone is interested in knowing more, they can always DM you and you can choose whether or not you want to share any more information.
  2. If you're meeting someone in real life, follow the "Craigslist rule" of meeting in a well-trafficked, public place.
  3. No fees/charges! This is not meant to be an advertising platform to sell your budgies. Content that advertises budgies for sale will be removed.
  4. This subreddit does not, in any way, offer warrantees or guarantees of budgie health. A budgie's health status is something that you and the other party should determine with an avian vet, and payment of that avian vet's services is something that you and the other party should decide beforehand.
  5. We encourage you to share pictures! Just make sure they are accurate to the situation and don't break the rules in the sidebar.
Remember: this subreddit is just one of many possible places to make a budgie connection. Also consider FaceBook, Craigslist, Nextdoor, other online communities, as well as real-life bulletin boards in public places. See all the previous weekly posts (that have content) by clicking here.

2024.05.29 00:46 Graymatter_13 Lightweight but wide 2 person tents

I’ve been looking for a lightweight (not necessarily ultralight) two person tent. I’ve been leaning toward a freestanding like the Copper Spur or a Nemo. I realized that both the Copper Spur and Nemo’s (Dragonfly or Hornet) taper at the foot. I use a long/wide sleeping pad (25” wide), so the pad of a second person would overlap, unless both of the pads are regular 20”. I’m 6’ and 215lbs, a side sleeper and roll around a lot, so the wide pad is helpful. I was about to order the Copper Spur during the REI sale, but pulled back because of the tapering. I would like to stay in the low $300 range and in the low 2lbs for weight. I love my REI half dome 2P, but it’s over 5lbs. The only thing I found that seems to meet these criteria is the Durston X-Mid 2P. It is 52x92, 2lb 4oz and $280 plus $43 for the footprint (the 2P pro is a bit overkill for me and north of $650). I usually backpack with poles anyway, so am now leaning this direction. Anything else out there folks suggest that is both wide, lightweight and relatively affordable?

2024.05.28 23:53 bkturf Okay to list for-sale ebike?

I am selling a Wired Freedom but did not know if it was okay to list items for sale on this subreddit. It looks like there are rules but mainly for dealers, and I have not seen a single listing where someone's selling a bike, so was not sure. The reason I would offer it here instead of Craigslist, Nextdoor, or Facebook is I would want to only sell it someone well-informed and hopefully experienced with ebikes and not some noob who wrecked and/or hurt themselves on a test ride.

2024.05.28 19:16 SlugBugNJ Ampeg V-4 vs V-22 vs V-40

I've got the itch for an old Ampeg combo and I see a decent amount for sale on craigslist- This amp would be on the move often, going up and down stairs and other obstacles. I've heard that the v40 is lighter than the V-22, but it has 4 speakers instead of 2. How could the amp with 4 speakers be less loud and heavy than the other combo? Has anyone had any experience gigging with one of these? I know it may be a little too loud to be practical but man those things are cool

2024.05.28 18:45 Excellent-Unit2715 Best place to sell household items.

We are in the process of re-doing our home interior (flooring, paint, etc.) I've been taking things like ceiling fans, door handles, misc hardware to Habitat for Humanity in Richland. But I have a ton of other things to get rid of (lamps, wall art, pillows, electric fireplace, etc.). If I want to get a little money back for these items, where should I sell them, Facebook, Craigslist, garage sale, other recommendations?

2024.05.28 13:51 Ladybug10241 Bhs tips

My daughter has been working on her bhs for several months now. She is so darn close to getting it. She's currently in the gym several times per week and her form looks great. Last spot the instructor used a hand and said she almost there.
There is a cheese mat/wedge for sale on Craigslist not too far off. It's a decent price. But, not sure it's worth getting. She doesn't get much practice at home bc I don't want to spot her (I'd prefer the coach). But she conditions at home daily to help. Any suggestions or is this just a wait and it will happen? Trying to help her as she has a month before she is considered for another level. If not, still no loss in my opinion.

2024.05.28 07:25 pleatedshorts [S] [USA-CA] M-Mount sale: Leica M10-R M10R rangefinder body (20002) + 35mm Summicron v1 ASPH (11882) + olive/safari green Cosina-Voigtlander Bessa R2 film rf

Taking a break from the M-mount system:
[Photos + timestamps](https://imgur.com/a/RE8HMxW)

  1. Leica M10-R black chrome body - $4995. Lived up to my digital rangefinder expectations, but right now I don't have time to dedicate to shooting, so this is a $5k paperweight on my shelf. Comes with all the boxes and chargers. The original owner scuffed up the camera near the shutter release and the thumb dial, which clearly makes this ineligible for any Fred Miranda buyers. And yes that's my post on Craigslist.
  2. 35mm Summicron v1 ASPH silver lens - $2000. In great condition with no detectable focus shift on my 40mp camera. This has a box too, but the serial of the box doesn't actually match the serial of the lens. Don't know why the previous owner included it, but here it is. Comes with front and rear caps and the leather pouch.
  3. User condition Cosina-Voigtlander Bessa R2 body - $280. I've put so many rolls of film through this. Sadly the adhesive for the rear grip died and that fell off. The screws for the frame around the viewfinder also loosed one by one too. But good news -- meter still works great and shutter seems to be accurate. I'm open to shipping this, but prefer a local sale purely because of its condition so no one has buyer's remorse.
Limited to local SF Bay Area sales (based in SF), but might be open to shipping if you're willing to jump through some hoops to build trust and if you're west of the Rockies (faster shipping). No trades at this time, sorry.

2024.05.28 00:01 cyan_violet Is there an unspoken "local sale" culture?

I listed a bass recently for around $350. A few prospective buyers made official offers then asked if I would be open to doing a local sale since they claimed to live in the area and would like to "avoid the fees". I have local pickup as a shipping option, and am always very clear that I'm not interested in selling outside of Reverb, but that I'm happy to do a local pickup if they choose it at check-out.
It's against Reverb's policy to take the transaction elsewhere to avoid fees. I've spoken with their help agents and they easily scan any communication on Reverb to find these kinds of dodgy sales. I've heard they offer the option afterward to pay a fee if the sale was taken outside, though I've never done this. I personally don't want to do this. Meeting up with someone who hasn't paid yet is a waste of my time, and it can only mean that they wish to haggle in person and leverage my time wasted over the sale. They can head over to Craigslist if that's how they want to do business. I take very clear photos in excellent light from every conceivable angle, closeups and full body. I document all flaws and write a no-bs description about the state of the instrument to the best of my ability, always being attentive to my DM's if there are more inquiries.
I even accepted one buyer's offer who I had this clear exchange with about local pickup. They then didn't pay for ~36 hours. I messaged them kindly notifying that I would cancel the next day if they did not pay. They tried to act unaware and said they thought we were meeting up a week later for a local sale. They shouldn't be making offers if they don't plan to pay before meeting. I reported them as well as the other buyer trying to move off-site. The Reverb agent thanked me for reporting the suspicious activity and said they're doing a review of the accounts. Not sure if this was just customer service script or actual gratitude for a violation of policy.
If the item was vastly more expensive I could see how this potentially makes sense for a very serious buyer, if all the proper steps are taken to give Reverb the legal fees they deserve for facilitating part of the sale.
Just wondering if anyone here engages with buyers who want to circumvent fees and do things in person. How do you go about it? Am I off base? Thanks for your opinions.
Edit: Really thankful for all the feedback to get an understanding of how other sellebuyer expectations differ from my own. This is going to help me communicate from a more informed and clear perspective.

2024.05.27 21:43 Smempabulous Items aren’t selling even after I drastically lowered the prices. Any other way I could sell them fast?

I made another post on here a few days ago but basically I need some money fast and listed several things for sale on fbm, ebay, offerup, and craigslist. i’ll list them here:
a casio electric keyboard (originally worth 178.99)
a hoverboard
a 32” smart tv
a novation launchpad x (also worth 179.99 on amazon)
I originally had them all priced at over 100. but now I’ve had them dropped to 60-70 bucks each for over a day and still no ones biting.
I DID manage to sell my quest 2 for $120 but so far thats it.
for what its worth I also have a mongoose bike and a digital drawing pad that I was going to list.
But is there any FASTER way to sell this stuff? would I have better luck at a pawn shop? or should I try dedicated stores for each item that would let me sell? im on a massive crunch for time and need to at least make 400 from all this by wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

How to Easily Buy Junk Cars Near Me: A Comprehensive Guide
Buy Junk Cars Near Me BMW
Selling a junk car might seem like a daunting task, but with the right approach, it can be surprisingly simple and hassle-free. Whether your car is no longer running or it’s just not worth repairing, this comprehensive guide will walk you through the process of selling your junk car for cash. From understanding the value of your car to avoiding scams, we’ve got you covered every step of the way.

Key Takeaways

  • Understand the various factors that affect the price of your junk car to get the best deal.
  • Research and compare offers from different junk car buyers to ensure you get the most value.
  • Prepare your car for sale by gathering necessary paperwork, removing personal belongings, and cleaning the vehicle.
  • Learn effective negotiation tactics to secure the best price for your junk car.
  • Be aware of common scams and verify buyer credentials to ensure a safe and secure transaction.

Understanding the Value of Your Junk Car

Before you can sell your junk car, it’s essential to understand its value. While a brand new car may have an estimated value based on its make and model, the worth of a junk car varies depending on several factors. These factors include the condition of the vehicle, its age, and any valuable parts it may still have. Additionally, the demand for scrap metal and the current market prices can significantly influence the price you can get for your junk car.

Factors That Affect Junk Car Prices

Assess the Condition: Even a car that seems worthless might have value. Factors like make, model, year, and the condition of salvageable parts can influence its worth.
Research Scrap Prices: Knowing the current scrap metal prices can give you a rough idea of what your junk car might be worth.

How to Get an Accurate Quote

Use online calculators: Many websites offer scrap car value calculators that can provide a rough estimate based on your car's make, model, year, and current condition.
Contact Local Buyers: Reach out to junk car buyers in your area to get quotes. This will give you a better idea of the market value.

Comparing Offers from Different Buyers

  1. Gather Multiple Quotes: Don’t settle for the first offer you receive. Collect quotes from several buyers to ensure you get the best price.
  2. Evaluate Services: Some buyers offer additional services like free towing, which can add value to their offer.
  3. Negotiate: Use the quotes you’ve gathered to negotiate a better deal. Being informed about your car’s value gives you leverage.
Understanding the value of your junk car can lead to better choices for you as a seller and for the environment. Make an informed decision and take the first step towards unlocking the true value.

Finding Reliable Junk Car Buyers Near You

When it comes to selling a junk car, finding reliable buyers is key. You want to ensure that you’re dealing with a reputable company or individual who will give you a fair price for your vehicle. One way to find trustworthy junk car buyers is by asking for recommendations from family and friends who have sold their cars in the past. Online reviews and ratings can also offer valuable insights into the reputation of potential buyers. Additionally, look out for any red flags such as overly low offers or lack of transparency.

Researching Local Junk Car Buyers

Research is paramount. Seeking out reputable junk car buyers requires due diligence. Review websites, check official credentials, and analyze business ratings via platforms such as the Better Business Bureau (BBB). A reputable dealer is transparent about the purchasing process and willing to answer questions.

Reading Reviews and Testimonials

Start by checking online reviews and ratings for different junk car buyers in the area. You can also find their listings under different titles, like “Cash for Cars Companies”, “Auto Salvage Yards”, “Auto Scrapyards”, and “auto recyclers”. It’s also a good idea to ask for recommendations from friends and family who may have sold their old cars in the past. Once you have a list of potential businesses, reach out to them and get free quotes for your junk car.

Questions to Ask Potential Buyers

When contacting potential buyers, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure you’re dealing with a reliable entity. Here are some questions to consider:
  1. How long have you been in business?
  2. Do you have any certifications or licenses?
  3. Can you provide references from past customers?
  4. What is your process for evaluating and purchasing junk cars?
  5. Are there any additional fees I should be aware of?
All Auto Hustlers pays top dollar for junk cars. They are one of the largest junk car buyers on the Gulf Coast and offer a full-service auto salvage yard.
By following these steps and asking the right questions, you can find a reliable junk car buyer who will offer a fair price and a smooth transaction.

Preparing Your Junk Car for Sale

Gathering Necessary Paperwork

Before selling your junk car, it's crucial to gather all necessary paperwork. This includes your car's title, registration, and any other relevant documents. Having these ready will smooth out the selling process. Remember, you must have a car title to prove your car ownership; otherwise, it will be challenging for you to sell your car without a title.

Removing Personal Belongings

Ensure all personal belongings are removed from the car. This includes any electronics you installed, like a navigation system or dash cam. You won’t be able to get any of your personal belongings out of the car once you sign it over, so be sure to clean everything out.

Cleaning the Vehicle

Cleaning your vehicle can potentially increase its value. A clean car gives a better impression and might make the transaction smoother. Remove any trash, vacuum the interior, and give the exterior a quick wash.
Preparing your vehicle properly can make the selling process hassle-free and might even fetch you a better price.

Negotiating the Best Price for Your Junk Car

Negotiating the best price for your junk car can be a daunting task, but with the right approach, you can maximize your return. The best strategy for negotiating the price of a junk car is to have several offers ready to go. Sellers should also do some research into the current market value of their vehicle to ensure they are getting a fair deal.

Scheduling Pickup and Completing the Sale

Once you've agreed on a price with the buyer, the next step is to schedule the pickup of your junk car. Most junk car buyers offer free towing services, so make sure to confirm this with your buyer. Coordinate a time that works for both parties and ensure that you are available to hand over the keys and sign any necessary documents.

What to Expect on Pickup Day

On the day of the pickup, the buyer or towing service will arrive at the agreed location. They will inspect the car to ensure it matches the description provided during the quote process. After the inspection, you will need to sign over the title and any other required paperwork. Make sure to remove the license plates and any personal belongings from the car before the tow truck arrives.

Finalizing the Paperwork

Completing the sale involves signing over the title and filing any necessary paperwork with local agencies. This may include a bill of sale or a release of liability form. Ensure that all documents are filled out correctly to avoid any future legal issues. Once the paperwork is complete, you can hand over the keys and receive your payment. Choose secure payment methods to avoid any delays or issues.
Being well-prepared and organized can make the entire process smoother and more efficient.

Avoiding Scams When Selling Your Junk Car

Selling a junk car might seem like an uncomplicated way to free up space and earn some cash, but the process is fraught with potential scams that can turn an innocent sale into a costly nightmare. It’s crucial to navigate this journey with a keen eye for deceit.

Exploring Alternative Ways to Sell Your Junk Car

Selling Parts Individually

If you’re handy with cars and have some knowledge about their parts, consider selling off the usable ones from your junk car. You can sell them to local mechanics, scrapyards, or online on platforms like eBay or Craigslist. It may take some time, but it’s an easy way to make some extra cash while getting rid of your junk car.

Donating Your Car

Donating your junk car can be a rewarding option. Many charitable organizations accept junk cars and will even arrange for free towing. Plus, you might be eligible for a tax deduction, making this a win-win situation.

Using Online Marketplaces

With the proliferation of online marketplaces, finding a buyer for your junk car has never been more accessible. Websites tailored for selling used and junk cars provide a platform for you to showcase your vehicle to a large audience. This approach demands more effort on your part, as you’ll be responsible for advertising and negotiating the sale.
Take the time to understand the process, prepare your vehicle, and engage with the right buyers. The unlock to cash from your clunker is in your hands; now it’s time to turn that trash into a treasure.

Conclusion

Selling a junk car doesn't have to be a complicated or stressful experience. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can easily navigate the process and ensure you get the best value for your vehicle. From understanding the value of your junk car to finding reputable buyers and handling the necessary paperwork, each step is designed to simplify the sale. Whether you're dealing with a non-running vehicle or an old car that's no longer worth repairing, this comprehensive guide provides all the information you need to make the process smooth and hassle-free. Remember, the key to a successful sale is preparation and choosing the right buyer. Happy selling!

Smart and Stylish: Budget-Friendly Decorating Tips for Single Men
Decorating a new place as a single male on a budget can be both fun and rewarding. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you create a stylish and comfortable space without breaking the bank.
Living Room Decor

1. Plan and Prioritize

Determine Your Style: Decide on a general style or theme you like, such as modern, industrial, minimalist, or rustic. This will guide your decorating choices and ensure a cohesive look.
Make a List: Identify the key pieces you need first, such as a bed, sofa, and dining table. Focus on essential items before adding decorative pieces. This helps you manage your budget effectively and ensures you get the most important items first.

2. Budget-Friendly Furniture

Secondhand Stores: Check thrift stores, consignment shops, and online marketplaces like Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and OfferUp for deals on furniture. You can find unique and affordable pieces that add character to your space.
Flat-Pack Furniture: Stores like IKEA offer stylish and affordable options that are easy to assemble. These pieces are perfect for creating a modern and functional home on a budget.
DIY Projects: Consider making your own furniture or repurposing items. Pallet furniture can be an inexpensive and trendy option. There are plenty of tutorials online to guide you through the process.

3. Multi-Functional Pieces

Storage Solutions: Look for furniture that doubles as storage, such as ottomans, beds with drawers, and coffee tables with storage space. These pieces help keep your space organized and clutter-free.
Convertible Furniture: Invest in items like sofa beds or foldable tables to maximize space and functionality. These are especially useful in smaller apartments where every square foot counts.

4. Smart Decor Choices

Paint: A fresh coat of paint can dramatically change a room's look. Choose neutral colors for a timeless look, and use bold colors for accents. Paint is a cost-effective way to refresh your space.
Wall Art: Create a gallery wall with inexpensive prints, posters, or DIY art. Frames from discount stores can give a polished look. This allows you to personalize your space without spending a lot of money.
Lighting: Good lighting can enhance any space. Look for stylish yet affordable lamps and light fixtures. String lights can also add a cozy ambiance. Proper lighting can make your home feel more inviting and comfortable.

5. Textiles and Accessories

Rugs: Rugs can define spaces and add warmth. Look for sales or check secondhand options. They are a great way to add color and texture to your floors.
Pillows and Throws: These can add color and texture to your living space. They are also an easy way to change up your decor. Mix and match different patterns and colors for a unique look.
Curtains: Affordable curtains can add a touch of sophistication. Make sure they match your overall color scheme. Curtains also provide privacy and can help with insulation.

6. Personal Touches

Photos and Memorabilia: Display personal photos and items that have sentimental value. This makes your space feel more like home and reflects your personality.
Plants: Houseplants can liven up your space and improve air quality. Low-maintenance options like succulents or snake plants are ideal. Plants add a natural element and can make your home feel more vibrant.

7. Keep It Organized

Declutter Regularly: Keeping your space tidy will make it feel larger and more welcoming. A clutter-free environment is essential for maintaining a comfortable home.
Use Storage Solutions: Utilize shelves, baskets, and bins to keep everything organized and accessible. Proper storage helps keep your space functional and neat.

Sample Room Setup

Living Room:
  • Sofa: A secondhand or IKEA sofa.
  • Coffee Table: A DIY pallet coffee table or an affordable option from a discount store.
  • Rug: A stylish but budget-friendly rug.
  • Wall Art: Prints or posters in inexpensive frames.
  • Lighting: A floor lamp and string lights for ambiance.
Bedroom:
  • Bed Frame: A simple, sturdy frame, potentially secondhand.
  • Bedding: Comfortable, high-quality bedding.
  • Nightstand: A repurposed side table or a budget-friendly option.
  • Closet Organization: Shelves, bins, and hangers to maximize space.
Dining Area:
  • Table: A compact dining table, possibly foldable.
  • Chairs: Mismatched chairs can add character and are often cheaper secondhand.
  • Lighting: A pendant light or simple fixture to create a focal point.
By carefully selecting and prioritizing your purchases, you can create a stylish and comfortable home that reflects your personality without spending a fortune. Happy decorating!

2024.05.26 20:05 Skallywagh Used Motorcycle Marketplace?

Used Motorcycle Marketplace?
I’ve got a 2022 Honda CB500F ABS with ~400 miles on it. Last year I tried to sell it online but had problems finding interested buyers. What’s your preferred method of selling a used bike? Facebook? eBay? Craigslist?
I got quotes from some of those sorta shady “cash 4 motorcycle” sites and they were offering like $3,500 - $4,000. The KBB private sale value is like $8,500 which is way too high seeing as you can buy a new one with tax and fees for that much.
So how the hell do I sell a used bike?
Thanks for any insight.
